Cypher Systems by Roll20 - Release notes The Cypher Systems by Roll20 character sheet allows for play of Cypher System games from Monte Cook Games’, including: The Strange Numenéra generic Cypher System The previous ‘The Strange’ official sheet by Steve K / Roll20 is still available, but considered deprecated and will no longer receive updates or support. Transitioning to this new official sheet is straight-forward, and covered below. The Cypher Systems sheet by Natha are also considered deprecated, as the new official sheet is an upgrade of that sheet by the same author. Converting character from other sheets  The Cypher Systems by Roll20 sheet can convert characters from those sheets: The Strange (official/by Roll20) Specifics for conversion from previous The Strange sheet:  Skills will be converted to new entries in the Skill repeating section Weapons will be converted to new entries to both the Attacks and Weapons repeating sections Special Abilities, Cyphers and Equipment text blocks will be copied to the Misc texta area of the relative subsections Advancement will not be converted (as the new sheet has a more detailed subsection) Numenéra (community, not Tabbed) Specifics for conversion from the Numenéra (community) sheet: All Skills will be converted to Intellect Skills (as the Numenéra sheet doesn’t specify the relative Stat for skills). Please review the Skills in the new sheet after conversion, to set the appropriate relative Stat. All Skills will be converted to Might Attacks (as the Numenéra sheet doesn’t specify the relative Stat for attacks). Please review the Attacks in the new sheet after conversion,  to set the appropriate relative Stat. Cyphers, Artifacts & Oddities, and Equipment text blocks will be copied to the Misc texta area of the relative subsections Special Abilities will be converted to new items in the Special Abilities repeating section, with an attempt at setting the Use by interpreting the Use text field of the Numenéra sheet. If no common word for Use (Enabler or Action) is found, they will be set to Other. Please review the Special Abilities in the new sheet after conversion, to verify the appropriate Use. Advancement will not be converted (as the new sheet has a more detailed subsection) Cypher System (community) Specifics for conversion from the Cypher System (community) sheet:  Might, Speed and Intellect Skills repeating section will be converted to new items in the single Skill repeating section, with the appropriate Stat set. Might, Speed and Intellect Attacks repeating section will be converted to new items in the single Attacks repeating section, with the appropriate Stat set. NPC will be converted fully but might require to force the new sheet to “NPC” setting. Warning: if the character to be converted comes from the Community Cypher System sheet or Community Numenéra sheet, and some of its data predates the full implementation of unique IDs for repeating sections items in Roll20, the conversion process will not be able to fully translate the character: the number of items in each repeating section will be right, but items without unique internal IDs will lack the appropriate data in each attributes of the item. So, to ensure the safety of the old character’s data, we would recommend to copy the old character to a new game using the Cypher Systems by Roll20 sheet, either using the Character Vault, or the Transmogrifier. Features Record on the sheet: Stats (Pool, current value, and Edge) Damage track, with special damage (on top of Stats depletion, see Automations below) Recovery rolls bonus and track Skills (repeating section), with level, relative stat and description Special abilities (repeating section), with use, cost, relative (informational) stat and description Background Attacks (repeating section), with skill level, relative stat, mod, damage, skill level, cost and description Weapons (repeating section), with mod, damage and description Advancement for all six Tiers Cypher limit and Cyphers (repeating section) with Level  and description Equipment: Armor, with speed cost  ( Note that the sheet is using the simpler, automatable, generic Cypher System Rule regarding wearing Armor (supplementary cost added to Effort cost, on Speed Task rolls), whatever sheet style is chosen in the settings.) Money Items (repeating section) with quantity Miscellaneous Artifacts (repeating section) with Level,  Depletion dice and threshold, and description Note: use the lense button to expand/reduce a repeating item, and see or edit all of its properties:  Rolls: Stats tasks (clicking the stat name, for example   ) Skills tasks (clicking the d20 button:  ) Attacks tasks (clicking the d20 button:  ) Recovery (clicking  ) Artifact depletion (clicking the depletion button:  ) All rolls handle optional Difficulty, Effort, Assets, Bonus and Costs.  Rolls can use roll queries or a special Action section on the sheet, to set the various roll variables for several continuous actions with the same configuration. The roll template will show Target Numbers, and either the final Difficulty beaten, or the success or failure of the roll (if a Difficulty has been set).  Stat costs of a Task roll is automatically calculated and shown in the roll template, if applicable, accounting for the relative Stat Edge. Special rolls (17+, or GM Intrusion) will be notified in the roll template. Show in chat, with the chat button  , the properties of:  Skills Special abilities Attacks Weapons Cyphers Items Artifacts Note that you can add supplementary inline rolls in every description field, to be rolled in chat, when using the chat button.   Automations: Rest button ( )  to reset at once your Stats current value to max value (Pool) Damage Track Recovery Rolls Track  Reset button, if using the Action section, to reset roll parameters:  Damage track will be automatically set when a Stat goes down to zero, accounting for Special Damage (conditions in game, affecting directly the Damage Track) Use the expand/reduce arrows   to show a whole subsection of the sheet, or reduce it for screen space saving, when not used. Note that the arrow button below the logo will expand or reduce all the subsections of the sheet at once. Open the character sheet from the chat roll template, by clicking her name (if you’re the GM or have editing rights on the character): If using the companion API script, apply the roll costs to Stats, or advance the Recovery Track, by clicking a link directly from the roll template: Settings When creating a new character, the settings section is open by default, for you to choose the desired flavor, visual preferences and rolls preferences: You can re-open and change settings later by clicking on the gear button under the game logo:  Sheet style: visual style of the sheet. In “The Strange” mode, the sheet shows a Recursion supplementary field. Otherwise, the sheet behaves the same. Background: refine the visual style of the sheet by showing the default image or a color background. Rolls type: to set the difficulty, efforts, eventual assets, bonus and costs of a task roll, chose if the sheet ask roll queries when clicking o a roll button/label, or if you want to use a dedicated Action section on the sheet.   Use Asset/Bonus/Costs: sets if the Action section, or the roll queries, offers the opportunity to use/ask for Assets, Bonus and Costs while rolling. API buttons: use this option if the game master has a pro account, and added the “Cypher Systems by Roll20” companion API script. It allows to show a link/button in the roll template, to automatically apply the cost of a task roll to the relative stat.
Howdy! This sheet is amazing. One piece of feedback from transitioning is that the loss of the freeform notes field is a hearty loss. Any chance that will be re-added? That's the only thing keeping us from adopting the new sheet :(
+1 on needing the freeform Notes.  No-go for our party without it... especially in a Cypher game, having a freeform Notes field to write-notes-now, organize-later is something our entire party uses every single session.  Loving the rest, though!

First, thank you Natha and Roll20 for updating the sheet! Some UI/UX feedback on the Numenera version of the sheet • The font for the form labels is very hard to read. I appreciate the style points, but it needs to be legible first and foremost. The font for the data is easier to read, but still not ideal. If you wish to keep the stylized font, I suggest a setting to use the browser's default sans-serif font. There's a similar legibility issue in the chat output. "Shadows into light" is a tough read. Example:&nbsp; <a href="https://screencast.com/t/LPR1Jt48xf" rel="nofollow">https://screencast.com/t/LPR1Jt48xf</a> • I'm unclear what the link to the player's name in the chat is for:&nbsp; <a href="https://screencast.com/t/uDvViuvkhWj" rel="nofollow">https://screencast.com/t/uDvViuvkhWj</a> • Having buttons like "rest" and "reset" the same brown as the non-clickable (static) stuff makes them hard to discover. Actually all of the interactive buttons are hard to discover. Suggest using different colors between static info and interactive elements. Example:&nbsp; <a href="https://screencast.com/t/OGyHq04XC" rel="nofollow">https://screencast.com/t/OGyHq04XC</a> • For the same reasons, it's hard to see that Might / Speed / Int are clickable. Suggest a button or treatment that suggests it's a button. Example:&nbsp; <a href="https://screencast.com/t/8UinkdE65a" rel="nofollow">https://screencast.com/t/8UinkdE65a</a> • There's also a section in each box that fades out. If you mouseover, you can find the actions that are there, but it's nearly impossible to see them. By playing with it, I've learned that the arrow icon will "show more". Suggest it default to show more, and the user can discover how to hide it if they wish. Otherwise it's buggy at first glance. Example 1 (closed):&nbsp; <a href="https://screencast.com/t/sbaTAekRUHNt" rel="nofollow">https://screencast.com/t/sbaTAekRUHNt</a> Example 2 (open):&nbsp; <a href="https://screencast.com/t/7Sx3fJoj" rel="nofollow">https://screencast.com/t/7Sx3fJoj</a> Again, thank you very much for the updates, and I hope you find the feedback constructive!

as a GM, I kinda love that player sheet link Oh and note the arrow right under the game logo, that expands everything! (I feel expanded would be a better default)

Hi TheBWT and Xadi, and thanks for your feedback! The Notes field was intentionnaly left aside, because a simple text field for extensive notes doesn't allow for layout, bulleted lists, colored or bold text etc. If notes are used intensively, the recommandation would be to use the Bio &amp; Info tab, or a dedicated handout (per characters or adventuring group), that the GM can give editing rights to player(s), with all the layout tools that Roll20 offers. If you really want to use a field/attribute of the sheet, Background can be used (and move background text in the Bio &amp; Info tab).

As a long time Numenéra GM myself, I found it very useful. If players don't have rights on other players' sheet, they won't be able to see anything "secret" by clicking on other's "link". &gt;&gt; • Having buttons like "rest" and "reset" the same brown as the non-clickable (static) stuff makes them hard to discover. Actually all of the interactive buttons are hard to discover. Suggest using different colors between static info and interactive elements. Example:&nbsp; <a href="https://screencast.com/t/OGyHq04XC" rel="nofollow">https://screencast.com/t/OGyHq04XC</a> The Rest and Reset buttons have a symbol/icon, change color when hovered (as every other clickable element in the sheet) and are described in the documentation (first post of this topic). I honestly think this is consistant with the whole design. &gt;&gt; • For the same reasons, it's hard to see that Might / Speed / Int are clickable. Suggest a button or treatment that suggests it's a button. Example:&nbsp; <a href="https://screencast.com/t/8UinkdE65a" rel="nofollow">https://screencast.com/t/8UinkdE65a</a> Hovering them changes their color to show they're clickable. But this is a good point (and also concerns&nbsp; the Recovery Roll button), as it's not consistant with all the other clickable elements, that are or have an icon . Noted. &gt;&gt; • There's also a section in each box that fades out. If you mouseover, you can find the actions that are there, but it's nearly impossible to see them. By playing with it, I've learned that the arrow icon will "show more". Suggest it default to show more, and the user can discover how to hide it if they wish. Otherwise it's buggy at first glance. As mentioned above, and explained in this topic first post / documentation, it takes one click to expand/reduce everything.&nbsp;
Awesome, thank you Natha! One more little note: the hover state for "rest" and "reset" is helped by the text-shadow CSS. The "apply cost (API)" in the chat could use that treatment too. Thanks again.
Hi, I feel like I'm encountering a bug. When I add a cypher to my list and then click the trashcan icon to delete it, I keep getting this alert from the Recovery tab instead of the delete working:&nbsp; <a href="https://i.gyazo.com/df4d4a68592d45744f0a1fee75718d13.png" rel="nofollow">https://i.gyazo.com/df4d4a68592d45744f0a1fee75718d13.png</a> &nbsp;Why does it think the recovery bonus should be &gt;= 1 anyway? Next some design concerns, I miss being able to mark cyphers as used or not. As you can tell, I used the cypher space to track all cyphers I've encountered. This has also made this section really long outside of a more controllable scrolling window like in the old sheet. The Equipment section is also really long, and it seems like an odd design choice to put two long sections in the same column. One of these could easily go into the middle column. I am not looking at my advancement section very often, but it is in the middle of the visible sheet. Is there a font setting somewhere? I appreciate the special font for titles but for all the text I keep in the sheet I would rather have a more readable font. I think my DM voluntarily migrated our sheets to this new one, but is it possible to revert back to the deprecated sheet? What would the process for that look like? I appreciate that there was an attempt to make the character sheet work as a single page since it's already in a tabbed system. I think I may have to get used to using the Bio &amp; Info tab of roll20 for notes and equipment, and that should cut down on my scroll time when I am looking at both cyphers and my materials list (which I kept in equipment) for all my wright decision making :) Thanks for your work on this
Another bug found. Rolled a 6, selected difficulty 4, no ease or asset, got a "Success!" even though it was a Fail <a href="https://gyazo.com/0f6dff6b0ed45c7a85bc07783e36b125" rel="nofollow">https://gyazo.com/0f6dff6b0ed45c7a85bc07783e36b125</a> &nbsp;

I found a few bugs in your character sheet. The first one had been mentioned above, the final target numbers of some rolls are not calculated properly, especially those rolls with assets. I looks into your code, and found that the sheet might multiply three&nbsp;improperly. The second one is that while applying extra costs along (without spending Efforts), the costs won't show up in rolling results, and therefore cannot use API bottom to apply. For the third one, while inserting new lines in any description boxes, the boxes won't expand instantly. The sheet need to be re-opened in order to expand description boxes. The last one is about translation. There is no&nbsp;i18n tag for "Equipment", so this word cannot be translated.
About translation, I had made a Traditional Chinese translation for self-using propose. I noticed that in Skills and Specially Abilities sections, the sheet only presents the first letter of attributes, skills and ability categories, like "S" for "Speed", "T" for "Trained", "E" for "Enabler", etc. This method is not fit for&nbsp; Traditional Chinese, because Chinese won't use a single character as abbreviation. Moreover, the composition of these sections will broken while simply applying&nbsp; Traditional Chinese translation. Would you mind changing this&nbsp; abbreviation&nbsp; method to make languages like Chinese showing properly? Thank you for your wonderful work.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, and sorry for the delay in answering. &gt;&gt; Why does it think the recovery bonus should be &gt;= 1 anyway? The message comes from a browser feature that alerts you, because the field attribute is set to be a least 1 (which the default for the Cypher System games). This can be changed in a future update to have a minimum of zero, but out of curiosity, in which case your recovery bonus should be zero? &gt;&gt; I miss being able to mark cyphers as used or not. As for the display of a long list of Cyphers, the intended use was rather to delete them as they're used/depleted, but request noted. &gt;&gt; The Equipment section is also really long As for the Cypher lists or any repeating section of the sheet, the idea in design is that you reduce the subsection when it's not used, for a more compact sheet/display. &gt;&gt; Is there a font setting somewhere? Sorry to say there is not. But request noted for review. &gt;&gt; is it possible to revert back to the deprecated sheet? Not really, as attributes and repeating sections are not the same and sheet workers do transform the attributes on the first opening of the character with the new sheet. As the fist post of the this topic/documentation says, we recommended that the DM creates a new game and migrate the characters from the old sheet to the new sheet, either by using the Character Vault or the Transmogrifier. Or makes a backup copy of the old game before switching to the new sheet. I guess you would have to discuss this with your gamemaster.

Auto-expanding text blocks can not be expanded as you type, with how attributes work in Roll20.&nbsp; But, usually, you don't need to close and re-open the sheet. Just tab out of the field (set the focus to another field) and it will expand. If it's not, there is something wonky on your side (please don't hesitate to share in this case, for further investigations). &gt;&gt; There is no&nbsp;i18n tag for "Equipment", so this word cannot be translated. Noted. Thanks, this will be fixed in the next update (probably next week). &nbsp;

I've upload the json file to GitHub, you can find it with the following link: <a href="https://github.com/JamesRagnarok/Roll20/blob/master/CSR_TChinese.json" rel="nofollow">https://github.com/JamesRagnarok/Roll20/blob/master/CSR_TChinese.json</a> Please let me know if you can't access it properly. This is my first time using GitHub. The layout with TChinese would be like this. It is not actually "broken", but the different nature of different language. In Chinese, terms cannot be abridged like how English does, but fortunately all these terms in Chinese contains two Chinese characters only. If there is a little more space on the sheet,&nbsp;abbreviation won't be needed.
Speaking with the different nature of languages, there is no relative pronouns in Chinese, so we can't put an adjective clause after a noun like English do. That is to say, The sentence "[Name] is a [Descriptor] [Type] who [Focus]" should be something like "[Name] is a [Focus] (Chinese preposition here) [Descriptor] [Type]". I'm not sure how many efforts would take to move these boxes only for Chinese languages, but since this sentence with weird grammar is still&nbsp;comprehensible, adjusting this is not in first priority.&nbsp;

Thanks for your translation file. Will make use of it to test layout. That said and regarding the order of fields for the descriptive sentence, that's a more tricky problem (not saying that's not possible). Let's just say that my native language is not english and that it has the same problem, so I'm aware of this and won't forget about it, even if not a top priority TBH :)

Cypher Systems by Roll20 v2.1 New feature: Cyphers can be marked as "Used" Clickable titles that do rolls are now better identified with a d20 icon (stats and Recovery) Bug fix: Stat rolls with Difficulty now correctly shows Success or Failure Bug fix: Attack rolls now correctly handles and shows supplementary stat cost Translation fixes: added missing labels ("Equipment", and advancement placeholders) New "abbreviation" translatable texts instead of automatic use of first letter use, for head display of various items in repeating section (skills stat and level, attack stats etc.). Note that these items won't be updated automatically but any change or addition will use the new "-abbreviation" relative tranlsation texts, like "might-abbreviation". If those are not translated yet, the english ones will be used instead. Various layout fixes for Traditional Chinese, French and Spanish translations French translation

Thank you for your excellent work!&nbsp; Edit: There was a stupid question here. I found what I was doing wrong. Edit2: I found some minor errors. The "None" option doesn't contain an&nbsp;i18n label, therefore the translation for this word can't present.&nbsp; The other one is that "Description" in special abilities is replaced by "Description of the Artifact".

Hi it's me again. One thing about the initiative. It seems like currently the tracker only received numbers of nature dice rolls, not taking adjustment of Skills/Efforts/etc?

Yes.&nbsp; Well, the sheet implements a not very true-to-the-rules behaviour. The roll template will take in account the difficulty beaten with assets and efforts, but also use the raw roll to add the token to the initiative tracket (which is more a Roll20 feature than a Cypher System feature, where what counts is beating the opponent level/difficulty to know if you're acting before or after the opponent). The tracker will be only used, at the GM and players discretion, to decide who acts first between players. There is no good solution to be honest: either not using the tracker, or creating a "Roll20 house rule" where assets and efforts would be added to the d20 roll. Feedback welcome on this subject :)

I think in this way both Roll20 feature and CSR mechanism&nbsp;can be fulfilled.

I think in this way both Roll20 feature and CSR mechanism&nbsp;can be fulfilled. That's a neat idea but, as a single dice roll can not be used twice in the same calculation, it would require 2 d20 rolls, one for the difficulty beating standard Cypher System roll, and another one with the formula you suggested. So two distinct rolls would make things even harder to understand for the average user imho.
Hey one more bug report if you didn't already know about it. Seems like the dragging functionality doesn't work if the character sheet is opened in a separate browser window. Confirmed it behaved similarly with other people I play with

Confirmed it behaved similarly with other people I play with Hi Crowb4r and thanks for your feedback, but this isn't a problem with the sheet itself, but a limitation to all sheets in Roll20.

New update is live! Cypher Systems y Roll20 v2.3 New setting option ("Simple Font") for using and displaying a simple sans-serif font in titles, inputs and roll templates. New setting option "Limit subsections height". When activated, subsections are limited in height when expanded.
Hi, The Cypher Systems character sheet is just amazing! /Like the rest button and that even the armor speed cost has a separate counter./ I thought I wrote down a few ideas, maybe you think it worth to put them in the character sheet. 1. Attacks window: it would be nice to have a drop-down menu for the distance -immediate -short -long. 2. Weapons window: it would be nice to have a numeric counter for the ammo, like 12 (arrow)&nbsp; Keep up the good work! :)

I might found a minor problem. In the "Attributes &amp; Abilities" tab, "level", "health", "damage" and "armor" are created as lowercase, but API functions such as npcDamage require these attributes to be startup capital, like "Level", "Health", "Damage" and "Armor". This issue can be fixed by manually capitalize corresponding attributes, but a patch would be much appreciated.&nbsp;

Hi there, I'm having issues using the API companion. I've just bought a Pro account, and when I add the API script, I see this message in the console, and the API buttons do not work in-game.
