Adding editing permissions not working

In game tonight I had a major issue. I often have two monitors up, one that I use in as a player -- this is for dynamic lighting issues. I found I could not see. So, what I usually do is add myself with editing rights on a PCs character with a token and I can see. No problem. I have 10k hours on roll20, play countless games a year, I do this all the time.  It didn't work. I fought with this for 45 minutes until I just called the game. After fighting for another 30 minutes I realized that when I would set myself (or anyone) with edit permissions on a character it did not stay. I could reload the browsers, or go into player mode, and back out. When I did, the edit field was as it was before I added myself. I copied the game. The problem continued. I created a new game. I transmogrified everything over in mass. It happened again. I created another new game, I transferred every character, slide, handout, deck, etc, over one by one and tested each time. It never happened again. I went back to the original game and tested again. It is still broke. Is there something going on with some of Roll20's servers? I looked at a couple other games I have and they work fine. This is completely bizarre. Roll20, I will need some help with this.
