[LFP][5E][LGBT+ Friendly] Looking for 2-3 more players for a narrative-driven homebrew campaign

Edited 1597061914
CLOSED: Thank you to everyone who applied!! Hello! I’m looking for a total of 5 players for a long term campaign on Wednesday nights from 7pm-11pm EST via Discord and Roll20. This is a homebrew campaign that does not use the traditional dnd pantheon and will be largely theatre of the mind with some crude maps during combat. I like to craft narrative-driven stories that are within an immersive world that has consequences to your actions. For example, if the party turns down a hook, that NPC isn’t going to just sit around and wait for the party to be ready for it, that NPC is going to take matters into their own hands. While I love tense and exciting combat, I prefer when it comes second to roleplay. Ultimately, the players are in control of where the story goes. I am looking for players who are interested in RPing with the rest of the group and making friendships on more than just discussions of how to get from point A to B in the plot. I would like to work with the players on creating backstories that tie in with the game world and may be woven into the plot. The adventure begins with a call to action by a noblewoman investigating a threat to one of the villages in her barony. The party is gathering together to answer that call. The continent that the party is starting on is made up of many nations with very different cultures and unique relationships to magic, technology, and religion.  Important things to note:  This campaign is LGBT+ friendly All NSFW content is fade to black There are no inherently evil races, only people and creatures who choose to be evil Absolutely no sexual assault If you have other content you are uncomfortable with or don’t enjoy, I am happy to discuss and accommodate If you’re interested in learning more and wish to apply, please feel free to leave a comment with the answers to these questions: What is your name and what are your pronouns? How old are you? What type of story are you looking to embark on?  Is there a particular character you've been wanting to play? If so, tell me about the character. If you're one of those people who prefer to wait to see the lore to determine what you play, tell me instead about your favorite character that you have played.  What do you enjoy the most about DnD? Can you describe your DnD playstyle?  What are your hobbies and your pet peeves?  Can you make the weekly time slot of Wednesday at 7PM EST? Thanks!
Wow this sounds amazing! Lots of fun I'm sure. I'm usually free Wednesdays but sometimes I have work. I'm open to rescheduling or missing a week to not slow down the story. So its answer time now Dana he/ him (I appreciate this question) 28 I like games with high highs and low lows, d&d should be rp first but it's a game with abilities so there should be opportunities to use them I do prefer to know the story a bit but the two at the top are an aarakokra moon druid or my gnome artificer.  I enjoy socializing, telling an awesome story and doing cool things that then result in an awesome story That's a hard question.. I'm engaged? I like to hear what's going on and not get side tracked (at least to much) Hobbies are joking and video gaming. Pet peeves are rude people Most likely yes, at the very least I can inform people ahead of time if I cant. It should also be noted that when it's safe to go back outside this may change
Hello! My name is Heather and my husband Peter and I are very interested in finding a new campaign to join. We both have experience as players and DMs. My pronouns are She/Her and his are He/Him. We are both 27 (nearly 28), and have played D&D for around 3 years. I love a good adventure story, with Gothic themes being my favorite, and he loves a good quest (lots of World of Warcraft in his past.) I would love to be able to play my halfling rogue character that got used only for a very short time in a campaign we were both in before other people's schedules unfortunately caused the group to disband. I could also very easily take her backstory and apply it to a variety of classes (I would see it making a good warlock or paladin character). Peter has recently been interested in playing a Kenku rogue, but he definitely is the kind of person who enjoys making new characters with backstories based within the story we are presented. Another character I have really enjoyed playing was a Triton Druid who was awakened/brought to the modern world in response to a great evil stirring, but who didn't completely have a great grasp of modern social norms. She was great fun and the rest of the party really enjoyed her as someone who could hit hard/tank in battle but who led to often hilarious misunderstandings within the realm of roleplaying.  Both Peter and I really love the roleplaying aspect of D&D. I think it's really important to be true to your character- even if that means you aren't picking the "best" option from a "meta" standpoint. Peter enjoys playing characters with interesting and often hidden backstories that are slowly revealed over time and solving puzzles using out of the box thinking. As for play style, Peter and I both love all parts of the game, but Peter tends to get the most enjoyment out of interesting puzzles and combat that requires strategizing, and I love roleplaying. I am especially excited at your description of our choices having a lasting impact on the world- I think that's an important part of a campaign that really forces you to commit to your choices.  I am a book reviewer and love reading, Peter plays a lot of video games and likes baking sourdough bread and pickling things. Both of us also enjoy tabletop games like Gloomhaven. We are both available for the time slot of 7-11pm EST on Wednesdays, though Peter will be working from home Wednesday nights (Begining at 10pm) in a job that allows him freedom to flex his time/organize his own schedule, so it shouldn't be an issue.  We are excited to hopefully learn more about the world you're creating!
What is your name and what are your pronouns: I usually go by Abyss since I've used it so much it's become a nickname at this point. He/Him How old are you? I'm 22 What type of story are you looking to embark on? I'm looking for a story that is engaging with the characters and actually feels like it is shaped by what the characters do and not just something rigid that we can't do anything to alter the end result of the story/quests. I enjoy stories that let the players explore their characters and give experiences that the characters can grow and change from. Is there a particular character you've been wanting to play? If so, tell me about the character. If you're one of those people who prefer to wait to see the lore to determine what you play, tell me instead about your favorite character that you have played. I've actually been really wanting to play this Human Warlock with the Great Old Ones patron. I want to be brief because I tend to be rather wordy, but his name would be Eyes and he would be someone who searches the world for hidden and lost knowledge so that his patron may possess these secrets as well. His other driving goal would be to eventually surpass his mortal mind to even for just a brief moment, be able to understand the truth of the universe that is incomprehensible to mortals. I would just love to explore the alien nature of the patron and putting elements of that alien nature into the character as well. He'd be more built for roleplay than combat. This is all very bare bones but I do have a lot of ideas for him. Just don't want to give you a wall of text XD Of course, I don't know if he would fit into your setting, but I'm willing to edit him if needed. I'm also totally cool with coming up with other characters as well. There is this idea for a firbolg kensei monk that I've also been really wanting to try! What do you enjoy most about D&D? I absolutely love creating characters that I can develop and roleplay as. I'm a big fan of the roleplay aspect of D&D! I also quite enjoy the social aspect of it, as I've made quite a few friends from playing the game Can you describe your playstyle? My playstyle has more of a focus on roleplay, but I don't shy away from combat. I like to discuss ideas the group might have to handle a situation in character and just generally work together with the group no matter what character I'm playing. I enjoy some out of the box thinking to come up with solutions to obstacles we might face. Hobbies and Pet Peeves Well, my hobbies include playing tabletop games, playing a variety of video games with my friends, casual writing, and I've started to pick up cooking a bit. Pet peeves, well I definitely don't enjoy people who make things all about them, as well as generally large amounts of ego. Can you make the time weekly? Yup! I have a lot of free time and I can certainly make it to a weekly Wednesday game.
hello my name is Alex(him), first off I am horrible about punctuation in the literary sense as you will see, but I will do my best. I am 28 and am looking to embark on an adventure of well thought out, yet sometimes poorly executed plans, hilarious names for mounts crews and vessles, and a cacaphony of antic and battle that culminates in an intense and heartstring tugging climax. My favorite characters I've played were both homebrew battlemages, (made with my dad an OG D&D head) one was a half-drow and the other was a tiefling/minotaur. I still have all the info on the battlemage class we wrote if you're interested, if not I am more than willing to compromise i do enjoy a character who is LG category weilding a 2handed weapong single handed and casts spells with the other wearing heavy armor( not sneaky at all) the Sherman spelltank of dnd haha. My characters always tend to be obsessed with artifacts of the ar and variety and immortality haha. And as for the time slot I can make most weeks but really have no problem letting someone take over if I miss a day or just being left out whichever is easiest on you. I am super easy going and have played a couple campaigns lately that were fun but the dm wasn't big on making skill checks relavent
Hi there! This looks like lots of fun to join, I'm a roleplayer first and foremost. Let's get down to it: What is your name and what are your pronouns? How old are you? I go by Bat online, I'm 24 now and I use He/Him What type of story are you looking to embark on? I'm looking for something story driven where the rules are really more of guidelines that help a good story along. I'm all for rules, but too many gets in the way of enjoying the content in my opinion. Is there a particular character you've been wanting to play? If so, tell me about the character. If you're one of those people who prefer to wait to see the lore to determine what you play, tell me instead about your favorite character that you have played. I've had a lot of ideas in the past, most of which I've ended up turning into DMPC's in one of my other campaigns. Those among being a LG Redemption Paladin who was a vampire, a swashbuckler rogue tabaxi, a few homebrew classes like a pyromancer little girl and a necromancer kobold that was more comic relief than person. I'm open to playing something that'd fit the party and generally mesh well with the group. What do you enjoy the most about DnD? This is going to sound vain AF, but I love being the center of attention in the story. This isn't to say I hog the spotlight from the other players, however! I just enjoy doing things that give my character a larger-than-life quality. Real Warrior of Light energy. Can you describe your DnD playstyle? Rule of Cool! If it's cool and (very generally) plausible, I allow it. If my players worked 25 minutes in character on a problem to solve, it goes off nearly without a hitch. I also enjoy introducing possible nasty surprises in the storyline and recurring antagonists with genuine motives. The first step to having a good DnD session is to have fun with the game, and sometimes that includes crying over story beats. What are your hobbies and your pet peeves? General hobbies are video games and spending late night hours with one of my friends discussing character headcanons into whatever media we're currently hyperfixating on. Can you make the weekly time slot of Wednesday at 7PM EST? Yes! I usually work on dinner at 5pm PST, but besides that I'm open and free.
Hi Hailey! I'd love to know a bit more about your campaign - although the premise, and especially the kind of attitude you seemingly prefer in your players and RP, already has me interested! As for me, I'm Pat, age 50, they/them. I'm very much an immersion-based roleplayer, and I enjoy both seeding my character into the world (I love learning game lore) through their background and experiencing adventures amidst the camaraderie of a group of adventurers - even if they may not think of themselves as such! Story-wise, I love intrigue- and mystery based tales. It need not always be evil skulduggery, of course, although conflicting morals tend to lead to good roleplay. But such conflicts can also be based on cultural differences, different traditional values and norms, or even economic concerns! But pull me in more than one direction and have me experience the conflict through the mind's eye and personality of my character, and you'll have an inspired and enthusiastic gamer on your hands. My background is in academia (specifically anthropology), and I have a number of historical time periods, cultures and world outlooks that especially interest me. I'm always happy to work with the GM to make sure that I don't propose especially silly character backgrounds, but I may just borrow some elements from real life or favourite fictions. Hobby-wise, I have had to give up fencing and archery, since I'm dealing with some chronic ailments that make those entirely implausible, alas. I still try to get out there for some relaxed kayaking, but even that has become pretty rare, I'm afraid. That aside, I enjoy board games of a wide variety, prog music, and cooking. And although it hardly qualifies as a hobby, I love my husband (20 years and counting) above all of that! I have come to realise that I really enjoy having in-character text RP going on during the week (inbetween sessions), so having an option for that on, for instance, a Discord server for the campaign would be great. I can of course make the time-slot - it'd be quite silly to reply, otherwise. :) Having said that, I am a very regular attendant, once I commit, but it's possible I will miss the occasional session, if my medication can't keep the pain in check. It should be rare, though, and I can usually see it a day in advance coming, so it's exceedingly unlikely I would be missing without letting you know ahead of time. It's not a pet peeve, but one oddity about me is that I have found that I operate best in groups with mixed gender expression. I'm non-binary, myself, and if the whole group is either all male or all female (I've experienced both), it tends to become an echo chamber for me, and I start to struggle with immersion after a while. That aside, my main dislike is unthinking, casual callousness, and I tend to speak up about it - although I will always try and handle things in private, first! I certainly hope to hear back from you. Thank you for organising a game, and I hope you end up with a lovely group, whether I am part of it or not. Regards, Pat
What is your name and what are your pronouns? My name is William and my pronouns are They / Them How old are you? I am 22 years old. What type of story are you looking to embark on? Honestly I am looking for a world that breathes life into its characters along with its NPCS. A story that not only has political intrigue but also has great moments of character interactions, and delving deeply into our characters back stories or personal motives.A world that feels real and has real consequence due to our actions. Is there a particular character you've been wanting to play? If so, tell me about the character. If you're one of those people who prefer to wait to see the lore to determine what you play, tell me instead about your favorite character that you have played. My favorite character I have ever played, has to be one I just started playing recently. A warforged paladin named Shield, they're incredibly fun to play. I adore the backstory that GM and I came up with for the character. I have never had as much fun roleplaying as a character and getting into the setting as I have with this one. What do you enjoy the most about DnD? Losing yourself in the character is the best part about playing. When you can do that, along with a group that does that with you it's the best. Combat is always still fun though haha. Can you describe your DnD playstyle? I depend entirely on the group, and setting but if it was up to me I would play a more upbeat character. I love being to joke around as my character, and lighten the mood a bit. When I'm able to do that, I get the most into my character. I generally like to take charge and am very talkative but know when to hold back to let others have their chance to talk. Most of all I try to be respectful and try to make sure everyone is included. What are your hobbies and your pet peeves? My current two biggest have to be Dnd and reading manga. Currently have been reading through mangas at record speed for me haha. Can you make the weekly time slot of Wednesday at 7PM EST? Yep! That works perfectly for me.
What is your name and what are your pronouns? I go by Richter. He/Him How old are you? I am 32 What type of story are you looking to embark on? - An epic of some kind, I guess. It doesn't need to be 'save the world' big, but something I can get lost in the world of. Honestly story-first-combat-second sounds like THE BIG WIN for me, haha. Is there a particular character you've been wanting to play? If so, tell me about the character. If you're one of those people who prefer to wait to see the lore to determine what you play, tell me instead about your favorite character that you have played. - Assuming this is 5e, a wandering Tabaxi adventurer who's goal is to make stories out of his adventures and meet companions with which to weave said tales. Of course...'evil' tales tend not to be fun reads... -Probably a Warlock, Artificer or Bard. But I'm not -set- on any classes, really and I'm sure I could make him work in any role if necessary! What do you enjoy the most about DnD? - Role playing, character  building, interacting with the party, NPC's and the world. Being someone you're -not- and trying to get into their head. How would they act? What would they do? Can you describe your DnD playstyle? -It's really hard to nail down, I guess? I often try to play different classes/personalities in each game, because variety is the spice of life. I try not to step on other's toes, though. If someone wants to be a healer, or the tank, or something, I'll often go out of my way to give them their niche.  Everyone deserves a chance to shine. I also sometimes like taking risks if the payoff (or fallout) is either really epic or hilarious, but only if it doesn't really have a chance of biting the whole party. If I bring karma on my head, it shouldn't ruin the fun for those who don't want to be involved in the failure. What are your hobbies and your pet peeves? - Hobbies: digital art, writing, playing video games, reading, tabletop rpg's, and trading card games! - Chewing noises, rules lawyers, control freaks, and people not explaining themselves. Can you make the weekly time slot of Wednesday at 7PM EST? Absolutely

Hi Hailey, I'm Reddy, I am 21 year's old, and a he/him.  What type of story are you looking to embark on? : I greatly enjoy both home-brew worlds and building up a relationship within the party. I'm an avid note taker and I enjoy learning about the worlds my characters traverse. I also like building up a rapport with my fellow players and their characters.  Is there a particular character you've been wanting to play? : I wouldn't mind playing a paladin or a cleric, who is perhaps related or connected to the duchess hiring the party. My favorite character I've ever played be my first; a barbarian named Fish. My high-school boyfriend roped me into his lvl-20 one-shot where we went into a dungeon and fought a dragon (guess where he got that idea?) and somehow my sweet, innocent, raging dwarven barbarian survived the final fight when the entire party got wiped. What do you enjoy the most about DnD?: How it brings people together, to make memories and have laughs. Can you describe your DnD playstyle?: Mixed, 100% fighting, talking or exploring I'll be having a good time. I love a good combat, but the reasoning behind it is what makes it a great combat. The fear of dying is always more prevalent when you actually like your characters relationship with the party, and knowing you'll need to start from scratch with a new character.   What are your hobbies and your pet peeves? : I GM myself so that's my primary hobby, my pet peeves are when people don't treat each other with simple respect while in game. Can you make the weekly time slot? : Yup.
Hi! My name is Olivia!  Pronouns are she/her! I'm 28. I would LOVE a lore-heavy RP game. I love weird misfit groups and a plot that grows in relation to the world around us and how we explore and discover sounds awesome. I also deeply love stories and roleplaying that is intertwined with character's histories and goals! Yes, I have a character I'm so wanting to play! They/she/him are a College of Spirits (new UA) Bard, who is super personable and a bit of a gossip. All of her stories are about her ancestors whom she regularly talks with and all somehow are these crazy tales! I love to imagine her talking to like a huge family network of dead ghosts who all have these specific skills and abilities that can help the party. They casts with tarot cards and read tea leaves and all those magic-y fortunetelling vibes. I imagine he'd be sort of eclectic but weirdly personable even with/especially with ghosts and spirits. Kinda gossipy and one of those people who always tells crazy stories about their past and family that seem just a lil too out there to be 100% true. I really like infusing my characters with lore too though, so I'd love to shape them around that too! I love the roleplaying the most. I love the painful conversations, and the outrageous antics, and I deeply love playing a character that struggles and grows, and watching others do the same! Also ridiculous magic I mean come on. My play style is very descriptive. I write all my notes from my character's point of view and I rarely leave first-person during a session because I like really inhabiting a character. I'm an artist and very visual so I love describing spells and expressions and creating fun RP moments.  My hobbies outside of this are many haha, I am not good at sitting still. I'm a professional illustrator and artist for animation, so I draw all my DnD stuff like the fangirl I am. I swing dance, sew, I'm involved in the vintage clothing community (30's and 40's mostly), I camp a lot, and I bake a lot of sourdough! My pet peeves are mostly about players giving space for all characters to shine and be useful and have their moments.  Yes! I'm PST but it's no problem for me.
What is your name and what are your pronouns? Sage or Seth he/him they/them How old are you? 22 What kind of story are you looking to embark on? I’m genuinely down for anything! I really really enjoy homebrew and just kind of going with the flow and having fun’ Is there a particular character you’ve been wanting to play? I currently have a character I’ve been working on named Beryl, he’s a triton Ranger/fighter who trained under a special class of knights that protect their city and serve as guardians over the dimensional portal to the elemental plane of water. Stuff happens with backstory but I don’t feel I have enough space for that here Lol What do you enjoy most about DnD?  I really enjoy just connecting with other people and working together and making new friends. Plus being a badass wizard is pretty dope Can you describe your DnD playstyle? I genuinely try my best to get into character but also make sure to do my best to make sure that everyone, including the dm, have as much fun as possible! I’m very much a fan of rp heavy games and player/character interactions What are your hobbies and your pet peeves? My hobbies are playing video games, reading, collecting dice and figures, I’ve done a bit of Gming/Dming but I’m I don’t necessarily have a ton of pet peeves but certain noises can get under my nerves such as loud clacking and stuff like that. Can you make the weekly time slot?  Absolutely!
What is your name and what are your pronouns?              I go by Rhino online. My pronouns are he and him How old are you?             I am currently 18 turning 19 very soon What type of story are you looking to embark on?              I want a story that grows with our characters. Going from small-time adventures to continent level threats. I want our characters feelings emotions and actions to change the world.and for organic relationships to form between PCs and NPCs. I like stories where you deal with criminals with a good heart and crime syndicates. Is there a particular character you've been wanting to play? If so, tell me about the character. If you're one of those people who prefer to wait to see the lore to determine what you play, tell me instead about your favorite character that you have played.             A character I been wanting to play for a while is an echo knight fighter named Caden Orcust. He is an ex-soldier who's platoon was sent on an unofficial mission into the Far Realm where he only he returned changed by the journey. Now he has a mark on body which speaks to him and he is trying to find a way to remove said mark and find the rest of his platoon. What do you enjoy the most about DnD?             I enjoy the feeling of being in a whole new place as a whole new person and getting grow as that character. building relationships not just with me fellow PCs but with the NPCs that populate the world as well. Can you describe your DnD playstyle?              A good mix of Roleplay and a love for creative and fun combat. What are your hobbies and your pet peeves?              I game, write short stories and, read Books. I don't many pet peeve above the color purple and people being disrespectful to me or any other person. Can you make the weekly time slot of Wednesday at 7PM EST?             Absolutely
My name is Willow, I'm 25, she/her. I'm looking to adventure, but I also like having the opportunity to put down roots with my characters. The character I've been wanting to play lately is a Neutral Good Elf Druid who is in search of her own natural domain to be a caretaker for when she is not adventuring. I love forming relationships between PCs and NPCs, as well as having some sort of impact on the world around my character. My playstyle is roleplay, exploration, and I typically feel comfortable with a support role. I play video games, write, and tend my garden and pets in my spare time. My pet peeves that are DnD related are groups in which I feel like the rest of us are just following the power player around, or terrorizing the common folk for giggles, because it's typically very hard for me to justify my character staying in a group with unapologetically evil characters (Unless I know ahead of time to make an evil character). I'm always free wednesdays, they are my most consistent OFF days, and I work the nightshift, so evening times are perfect for me ^_^

What is your name and what are your pronouns? Murph, he/him (i'm trans) How old are you? 19 What kind of story are you looking to embark on? I love dramatic adventures with a flexible tone, where the players are allowed to be lighthearted at times! Plot-wise, I'm down for practically anything, but I love character development and backstories being tied into the game!! Is there a particular character you’ve been wanting to play? I have a couple, my Dwarven fighter Gnock who's existed for about four years - an orphan from a big city who grew up as a pickpocket. One day, he received a letter from his long-lost brother who he hadn't seen since he abandoned him when he was a child. Plagued by the guilt of sending his brother away, he embarks on a journey to find him. Lots of other stuff happens but that's the gist of it! Second one would be Freja, my Firbolg druid. She's a 9' tall lesbian who travels around the world and documents what she sees in her notebooks - her mind is so fried at this point, she can barely keep track of anything without her notes. Her backstory is too convoluted to put here, lmao I am also 100% willing to come up with a new character if needed!!! These are just two of my babies lol What do you enjoy most about DnD?  I love getting to grow attached to characters, both my own and others'! I love being able to play out their development and working together with other people to establish dynamics between our PCs and such. Can you describe your DnD playstyle? I'm most keen on the roleplay parts, combat is fine but not as interesting as solving a mystery or banter between characters. I try to make things as fun for the DM and party as possible, and give them something to work with on my side of things! What are your hobbies and your pet peeves? D&D (and other table-top roleplaying games) is one of my main hobbies, but I also do art! If I get invited you can probably bet I'll be drawing the party at some point. Beyond that, I love writing, worldbuilding, storytelling, music and original characters! I also love making new friends, as cheesy as it sounds. A D&D-related pet peeve of mine is players who minmax in character/roleplay focused campaigns, and who only do the bare minimum for their PC's concept, personality and backstory. If it's a campaign that isn't focused on character growth and roleplay then it's fine with me, but it gets hard for the party to deal with if that player is only focused on "being the best". Also, players who take the game too seriously. I love serious moments of any length, but I find it hard to be a part of campaigns that are just grit on top of more grit. I like being able to have comedic bits. Can you make the weekly time slot  of Wednesday at 7PM EST? Most likely! I'm available practically any time, so while I am in GMT+2 timezone wise, the timeslot shouldn't be a problem at all.
