Imagen seeing a house, you go in and the roof dissolves instead of the normal dynamic lighting blackness dissolving. No need to use another map for the inside of the house. Before you go in the house looks normal, not just blackness where the roof is. This would allow the party to explore village houses and remain on the same map the whole time. No need to swap maps per house and leave players stranded here there and yond. Also, if you have a dense forest and the party can’t see far through the forest, the map does not need to be dark even when it is supposed to be day time. The dense part of the forest could be a picture. Even better would be that if the picture has transparent parts, these parts don’t obscure the player’s sight. You can put pictures in the dynamic lighting layer today; I just want these pictures to be used as the dynamic lighting instead of just blackness. This could also be used as part of the fog of war instead of just blackness. These pictures in the dynamic layer would not need dynamic layer lines because they are the lines. You add lines to block the players from moving through areas they shouldn’t. The pictures give you the bounds of the darkness only so everything can be day light except where the pictures are.
