Why do the waypoints hate on me so much?

I am a fairly luddite new GM who seems to be unable to get the "Q" key or "space bar" waypoint actuation to work (as it it described in various posts).  When I am moving a token and try to use either of these, it stops my movement and does not show disance traveled, or set a waypoint.  I am on a windows based lapop with a trackpad; using Chrome browser.  Thanks.

Space bar does not do this anymore, it was changed to Q because space bar needed to be freed up for something accessibility related. The process is as follows: Click and hold on token Begin dragging token Press "Q"  (or right click on mouse) to begin measuring Optional: repeat step 3 to add waypoints release click to place token. Afterwards, you can select a token and press "X" to display it's last movement.

Thanks for the response!  Maybe it is something with my trackpad, or trackpads in general, but the second I hit the 'Q' key it stalls my token (even though I am still trying to move it) and does nothing else.

Hmm. Maybe.  I just tried it in Chrome on a MacBook Pro with the trackpad and it worked with both the built in keyboard's "Q" and an external keyboard's "Q".  If you can get ahold of a mouse, you could try it with that and see if it makes a difference.  There could also be some OS level setting that is causing your click to end when there is keyboard input, or possibly something on the browser is eating the "Q" in a weird way.
I will give the 'mouse plan' a try and report back; thanks for your time.
Another way to do it is to right click as you're "holding" the token. It will show your starting space as 0 feet and then start measuring where you are, each additional right click creates a new waypoint.

I have to type Q twice to start the waypoint counting. But it doesn't sound like what you are experiencing.
Thanks for the help, everyone!  It turns out that it was a trackpad related issue.  I plugged in a mouse and the waypoint problems, along with a couple of others I was having, are gone.
