Simple theatre of the mind grid/map template

Hello all. I am partially sighted and find complex maps hard to see. I prefer using ToTM when I DM. However, I find it helps to have a simple grid up for distances while I become more use to ToTM so I dont need to keep track of distances (players and I can see that on the simple grid). I saw this AoE marker online and was wondering if anyone has or knows of similar styles to this zone/sector style grid for roll20. https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-9d2448b48357f5134a94057701793432 Another example https://www.tribality.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Circles-method.jpg Looking for something that has sectors/zone and players can move between zones or sector (ie moving from zone 1 to 2 cost 30 ft etc). But really just want to see what is out there and available on roll20 to see which fits best. Would be grateful for any assistance. Thank you

The game Ryuutama has a simple back/front area map for both players and enemies. Not sure if that's enough zones for what you are looking for, but the idea is pretty simple and could work for you. To melee a player needs to be in the melee front zone, and attacking an enemy in the enemy front zone. Ranged attacks can hit either enemy zone.

I would 100% recommend creating that yourself (ourselves) in Roll20 using only the Roll20 Grid (built in grid configuration settings), and the Roll20 Drawing Tools. This way the zones can be completely custom, whatever zones you want for the game, the best colors and sizes for your vision. I may be available to help you create this, in-game-table, if you want. Send me a message with an Invite link to your game table where we can meet for this. I think we can get it done in 30-60 minutes. It'll help if you can list all the zones you want (melee distance, ranged, long-range, tavern, town, on the road, in the forest, etc?). There are Roll20 Marketplace products available for AOE, and for differentiating areas, by colorful boxes and shapes. However this is unnecessary for your use-case. The free drawing tools & grid of Roll20 should cover everything you mentioned wanting it to do.

Another thing you could do is use token auras for distance. The benefit of those being that they would move with the token. I use those for large stationary effects, or to remind me of abilities players have active. Since you can have 2 auras for each token, you can have 2 color bands of different radii going if needed. You already have some good guidance for other stuff, but hadn't seen this mentioned yet. Good luck with your games!

Can't believe I missed this trick. Def8netly helps. Can just stick a toke down and apply aura for permenant effects like darkness and fires. Thank you
Still looking for help to make this. Happy to provide full details of the idea. The basic idea is a simple map of "sectors" and "Zones" Draft Example https://gyazo.com/e7e0fbee06d6d8aa9e86100e24060a31 In the above example each color represents a sector. The numbers a Zone. Idea is that each segment is equal to either 15 or 30 ft. And have a system where tokens can be moved to from on segment to another knowing it will always cost 15ft.
