Who thought this was a good idea? Not to mention, it is saying scheduled games are not scheduled. Although, I guess that means there is not a scheduled game in the future .

I just pulled out Stylus and blanked all those banners. I know when my games are, and the vast majority are reference, library, or utility games.

Yeah, but I used to have the recent games in the recent games area. Now it seems like it is the opposite and is pulling my oldest games.

It's likely pulling them by the scheduling data, rather than the recently played data. Since it's a brand new feature (probably due to be announced later this morning), hopefully it's not set in stone and can be given developer feedback.

Just providing some more input that this seems like an odd design choice; I personally don't use the 'scheduling' feature at all so the extremely bright buttons on every game were rather an obnoxious surprise today. Definitely using Stylus to hide those.  More importantly, the game order is definitely less than ideal.

This code will do it, but we'll see what the dev team comes up with in response to feedback. It may turn out to not be necessary: .listing__schedule-game-banner, .listing__schedule-game-banner--with-placeholder{     display:none; }

It looks like age of the game is the fallback sorting criteria. I have over 40 games that are not scheduled, and the oldest unscheduled ones are displayed. Even then, placing such an emphasis on scheduling games seems weird. Fixing the schedule link that shows when the GM exits a game would have been really nice. It has not been clickable for the longest time.

Hopefully that will be part of this new feature. I wasn't even aware the button was broken, since I don't use the scheduler. :D
Hey folks! We will be reverting this back, working on a patch currently. Looks like we have a ton more tweaking to do. Thanks for feedback, I'm on it!

Thanks for the update Jarrett. It would be great if changes were floated on the Dev server first.

Thanks, Jarret!
thank you for the quick fix ^^
Ok everyone, everything should be back to normal! We will have more changes incoming, but I'll make sure they hit the dev server for a good long while. I desperately need user feedback as we build a more robust scheduling system. We've already begun to address some of the feedback brought up in this thread. Again, I'm sorry this went out so hap-haphazardly - that was entirely my fault. Thank you guys for being open, honest, and patient!

Thanks for reacting so quickly, Jarrett, I don't know if you are looking for feedback right away, but here are some thoughts: Not everyone uses the scheduling system. An opt-out would be handy. If not, the warning banner for scheduled games is handy, but putting a "schedule now" banner on every game is distracting and largely useless. The sort order makes sense for those who do use the scheduler, but makes the list unusable for those who don't. If you don't have anything scheduled, you are presented with a list of very old games on the front page, not the most recently accessed ones. With this in mind, a sort order of scheduled games first, in order of imminence, followed by most recently accessed games might be a compromise that would serve both crowds. Correct the spacing issues that occur when the game image is pushed down by a banner.

I know it is not strictly part of the scheduling system, but this would be a great opportunity to fix a "broken window" since things around it are getting modified. While the Recent Games list scales the launch screen images proportionally for the different games, the Games drop down menu scales the images to fit the same space and distorts the images. It would be great if they images in the drop down were scaled proportionally. versus

An opt out by game would be handy for me.  I could then leave the reminder up for active games (because I do try to keep those scheduled to keep players from asking me about the next game time), or as a reminder for games that are under construction but soon to begin.  I could opt out on all my character sheet code testing games, map, character, and bestiary library games, and old games I have kept in case I want content from them.
No problem, and I really appreciate your time. Regarding the sorting - your solve is exactly what we were thinking so that's good to know that it might be a 'happy medium' approach. I'm trying to figure out what architecture to put in place for those games everybody has that you don't need to be reminded of: "I've been in that game every Sunday @ 3pm since before you existed as a company so leave me alone about it, Roll20" :) I definitely want to address the needs of those who are requesting a better way to schedule time with players, and those who never want to see it, so I appreciate your insight here. Thanks a ton!

With this in mind, a sort order of scheduled games first, in order of imminence, followed by most recently accessed games might be a compromise that would serve both crowds. Correct the spacing issues that occur when the game image is pushed down by a banner. A few other suggestions: My personal feeling is that the SCHEDULE NOW button is "too much" (screen real estate, loudness, etc.) for the level of functionality it provides. We already have an established pattern on the game launch and exit screens where clicking the current date (or the empty date box) lets the user schedule the next game. Clicking the "Not Scheduled"/next schedule date text to schedule a game would follow this pattern while largely keeping the interface clean, obviating the need for extra functionality to opt out. Allow us to remove a scheduled date from a game. Once a game has a scheduled date, we cannot remove it. Being able to just delete the date and click save would allow a game to have any reference to a date removed (whatever the reason might be). I imagine the highest ratio of games that actually need a reminder to schedule are games that were scheduled once that now have that date in the past. I can think of three ways to handle this (all with pros and cons): 1) The current SCHEDULE NOW button, which still feels like a bit much even if it is used less often. What if there is not a reason to schedule a new session for a while? 2) A less obtrusive icon with click/hover text that notifies the session date is in the past. 3) An additional area on the home screen that works like a task list. This could show not only games with a next session date in the past but other "todo" notices that could be dismissed by the user (or it could be added to the notification bell which largely already has that functionality). Removing the notification without scheduling effectively allows the user to opt out of rescheduling that game, and the alert will not show again until the next session has been scheduled and the session is in the past. Allow us to pin games from the My Games list to the top of the order on the home screen. This is especially useful for games under development that might not be played soon.
Brian C.  - This will definitely be addressed. Those images are all over the place, and never the same aspect ratio. Kraynic   - This is was super helpful, thank you! - I think solving this in a way that is unobtrusive or not annoying will be tricky.

If it was simple, anyone could have your job!  I have no idea what you will come up with and whether it will handle what I posted, but thought I would throw it out there for consideration while you were actively looking at the thread.  I'm sure I will be able to adapt to whatever design ends up being put into place.
