At The Stone River Waypoint

Dawi  said: Max  said: After her  atonement , she discusses Ering's theories with him, sharing all she remembers of the grimoire. She also believes it to be a lost work of the Lich-King, and tells him that it contained long treatises on the fundamental nature of life, death, and undeath, as well as the forces that govern them. But it also seemed to be infested with a fragment of Tellaj's mind, powerfully warded and imbued with intense evil. "It  wanted  to be found, wanted to be used. It seduced me, taught me to understand it... I was willing, even eager for what I thought to be a fast route to power, but I never imagined the price I would pay. I don't know if Tellaj became a lich because his soul was already cold as ice, or if it became that way as a result... but I know this: anyone who could create a book like that is beyond mortal understanding. I can't begin to imagine how he was ever stopped, or what the Reclaimers must have been like to have faced such a mind and defeated it." "Ever since I've heard of this tome I felt an urge to find it… To get lost in its pages, but now I don't know if I should follow my instincts." Ering pauses for a long moment. "Seeing what it did to you, I doubt that I, or anyone else, would be safe from its influence, Perhaps it would be better if it was just destroyed, assuming that is even possible." Dreyan looks genuinely afraid for you as you admit your temptation, and relieved when you backpedal a bit. "The world would be a lot better off without it. I tried to tear it up in my delirious rages a few times, even to burn it or ruin it with water... but it had powerful, permanent wards. Nothing seemed to harm it. I hope this mentor the King gave it to is powerful enough to keep its influence at bay." Dawi  said:   How much of the "Particle Physics" handout is know to characters? Is there any way to detect the particles? It's about as well-known to the people of Oerth as real particle physics is to real humans. Experts in the field, like Xankoris (since shugenjas are elementalists) know all of it and understand it deeply, though they may approach it from a different perspective. Very intelligent and well-educated people, like Ering and Leoavor, probably know most of it. Smart but less educated people, like Kraggan and Limar, or well-educated but less smart people, like Avariel, know about the four elements and the two forms of energy, and perhaps aligned elements as well. Commonfolk usually only know that there are four elements. Spells to detect even a tiny amount of a specific particle probably exist somewhere, but aren't common (as they would rarely have much practical value).  Detect evil  and its 3 counterparts can pick up substantial concentrations of aligned particles, usually in the bodies of outsiders or the auras generated by divine casters. Shugenja train to detect the presence of the four elements around them, even in small concentrations, using a special meditative state.

Josh said: geography 19 "good bye, remember to write about anything interesting, Like your wife having a new husband or any other terrible or heart wrenching thing, farewell and Good luck!" You recall hearing people mention Dragoth  before, the wealthiest of the politically neutral deep-towns in the Catacombs. It's somewhere in the northwest, near the great cavern Blackreach .  Roondar looks a little disconcerted as you suggest that his wife might have remarried in his absence, but Hamanap whaps you on the back of the head. "I'm sure it will be fine. Fair winds to you, friend," she says, waving as he departs.
Before departing to visit his home in the Flaness , Leoavor loans the Rod of Metal and Mineral Detection to Limar to help with surveying in his Stonefare  trade route project, with instructions that it be later returned to the Waypoint  so Hamanap can use it to find mineral deposits in the hills and dig mines. Leo also gives Ering some of the preserved pieces of Zorall's remains, which can be used as power components for spells (one per spell, consumes the item). In total, Ering recieves:     phial of dragon tongue: +2 DC for [language-dependent] (0.1 lb)     2 dragon fangs: +d8 force damage if any type dealt (0.1 lb)     dragon claw: +2 to hit with melee touch (0.1 lb)     dragon eye: +5 CL for divination (1 lb)         2 dragon horn fragments: +2 CL (0.1 lb)     3 phials of dragon blood: +3 DC Fort save (0.1 lb)     phial of dragon brain: +3 DC Will save (0.1 lb)     phial of dragon liver: +d6 ability score damage restored/dealt, if any (0.1 lb)     7 red dragon scales: +2 AC if any granted (- lb)     dragon testicle: +2d6 damage to females, if any dealt (1 lb) Hunter departs into the wild to hunt Moonshadow, Neuromancer, and their grimlocks, bringing the guild's Amulet of Catapsi and the protective satchet of angelica root Ering gave him. He stops in Waterwend  on the way to buy some healing potions, and keeps in touch with Ering via weekly scrying  spells from the necromancer.
dragon testicle: +2d6 damage to females, if any dealt (1 lb) Giggity. Well I guess this game is 18+ for a reason LOL Whenever there is a point where all the important party members are around, Avariel will tell them all about Raviel and what was revealed to him at the Archon Ruins. Also, he will ask Kraggan about the temple of Elhonna and its guardian, and perhaps how to convince said guardian to let him have a look at the stone.
Nate S. said:     dragon testicle: +2d6 damage to females, if any dealt (1 lb) Giggity. Well I guess this game is 18+ for a reason LOL You missed the arc where the party's priest of Pelor was framed for homicidal rape by their treacherous, insane former scout. :P Nate S. said: Whenever there is a point where all the important party members are around, Avariel will tell them all about Raviel and what was revealed to him at the Archon Ruins. Also, he will ask Kraggan about the temple of Elhonna and its guardian, and perhaps how to convince said guardian to let him have a look at the stone. With Kraggan already gone south when you return from Treefall  with Leoavor, and everyone splitting up for various journeys and projects, it seems this will have to wait for a while. But you'll have time to discuss it two years later, when everyone's gathered back together...
Before going their separate ways, Kraggan and Leoavor both undertook some projects at the Stone River Waypoint :      Leoavor designed a new sewer system for the fortress with Axil's help, based on Kentwing's impressive example, as well as some plans to expand the cellars and main structure. Before and after his trip to the Flaness , he works with Hamanap and Kraggan to reinforce the new underground and raise 2 new floors above the roof. They also  build an outer stone wall around the outbuildings and inner farmlands. Ering advised them on things such as how to use buttressed, curved walls to better deflect catapult shots, layering a second curtain wall with a moat between them to make scaling even harder, building catwalks and hoardings so that the wall can be manned with defenders, and letting the walls move smoothly along the curves of the hillsides but with uniformly deep foundations so they can't be pulled down easily; the necromancer also helps him with their design and construction, and with laying out and building a hamlet of streets and stone buildings around the fortress. This infrastructure, along with the flow of trade encouraged by the newly open  Stonefare , soon helps a tiny town blossom around the fortress.     Kraggan raised a Church of Ehlonna in the Hills , beside a tree garden  containing one of every kind of tree she could find (to use with her forest voice spell) centered around a natural pool for scrying . The large, open church is built from natural materials gathered and shaped over time, with a roof of interlaced living boughs from living tree support beams, a stone enclosure for the holy books, decorations made of lightning glass 'trees' and uncut gems, and wildflowers lining the paths. The priest is a unicorn named Nimariel who was sent by Ehlonna to serve in this capacity.
On Ready'reat 26th, 1421, a Terolus Army messenger delivers a sealed letter to the Waypoint for Ering from Lt Col Treeford, bringing good news about Base Camp's recovery and telling him that Shamil Beren's family was found in a small thorp southeast of town. On Sunsebb 4th, 1421, a young, fat human man calling himself Klaus arrives at the Stone River Waypoint looking for Limar. He wears gray robes and leans upon a staff topped with the skull of a baby black dragon, and bears Jorvasskar's sigil . Limar left instructions with Leoavor about this man, and Leo in turn told Jargon to send for Hiskel, who teleports  him away. When he returns, he oversees the construction of a  Shrine of Falazure  for Limar, despite Hamanap's strident protests.  On Sunsebb 20th, 1421, Drusilia returns at last to Bowhery with two dozen long-missing Companions to help reinforce the town's defenses and leadership, then returns alone to the Stone River Waypoint as a confident heroine with many tales of her adventures. During her trip, she gained 2 levels, got a scar along her jaw, and her jian Caesura absorbed a field of elemental law, transforming into the +1 axiomatic sword Concord. She learns that the Stone River War is already over, but her efforts were not in vain--the renewed blood helps to reinvigorate the Companions guild and helps the town recover. She takes the party's Gathering cards from Hamanap, who declares her the new Champion of the Wayfinders Guild. The following week, Zanean's silver wondrous raven figurine delivers a letter from the Deathwalkers to the Stone River Waypoint , updating the Wayfinders on the progress of their slow war with Zanzibar the Mad. It also carries a subtle, personal love letter from Nell to Xankoris. On Fireseek 10th, 1422, Kaladesh's cousin Leoria, a cleric1 of Hlal, comes with her teacher Rosaria, a half-copper dragoness aasimar cleric5, to build Limar's shrine of Hlal at the Stone River Waypoint . The same month, Jargon's physical therapy is complete, and he can now move and fight normally with a peg-leg at a base speed of 20'. In 1422, crop yields are the best in human memory, and many people say the Worldrain and Wayfinders are responsible for this growing prosperity. Many children born in 1422 also have golden blonde hair and/or sea blue eyes regardless of race. Xankoris and the Wayfinders also earn in time that storms along the coastlines around the world (but especially in Rokugan) have lessened in intensity and frequency after the Worldrain, sparing countless lives...
When the shrine to Falazure is completed Limar will briefly teleport in to give the first offering, a tiny pea size skull of a fairy estimated at 60 platinum. conclude his business with Klaus Though I got to ask " Whats with the baby skull? didnt take you for a wyrmling killer." -he'll also take the time to affix a black scale to the shrine of tiamat. He'll find the time to pop in an listen to the tales of the Hlal priests.

The new shrine  glows with a deep, shadowy energy, and Falazure blesses you... though you can't tell with what. Klaus bows slightly, his pale double chins wobbling. "Even a wyrmling dragon is no thmall threat to a human," he chuckles good-naturedly. "But I did not thlay this one. It wath a gift from new master Jorvathkar, a token from hith patht adventureth I think. I underthtand you and he are good friendth now; I hope we can work together in the future. Those who recognize the withdom of the Night Dragon are rare indeed." Tiamat's shrine blesses you as well, but much more powerfully: with the fifth head finally bescaled, the completed shrine glows in a bright rainbow of Tiamat's 5 colors, and grants you the permanent ability to drink a flask of unholy water as a standard action to change your next breath attack within 1 round into 4d4 damage to good outsiders! Josh said: He'll find the time to pop in an listen to the tales of the Hlal priests. Rosaria tells many interesting tales while she oversees the work on the new Shrine of Hlal , gathered from those she's met: journeys deep into the Catacombs to forgotten ruins, clashes with the frozen ogre zombies of Heimar the Ice-Mage, a harrowing midnight pact with the Witch of Izalith, the Deathwalkers pursuing the vampire Tayton Fain into the Lartak Marshe s, tomb-raiding the mummy-infested pyramidal lair of the blue dragon Sardukhar, dueling with the dragon disciple Rariash in the Sword Rocks of the Chokon Trail ... During the course of the next 2 years, four more heroes join the Wayfinders Guild:     Gimble "Tenmen" Scheppen, a fierce rock gnome warrior.     Vadania Nightbreeze, a high elven tracker and huntress.     "Anti" (short for Antinua), a half-elf minstrel and swordswoman.     Chinara, a human priestess of Wee Jas from Suel. Their sheets can be found in-game now, with pictures and brief bios. As word spreads that Hiskel knows the true name of fire, mages come to the Stone River Waypoint  to beg to apprentice under her. The Wayfinders start getting more emissaries bearing gifts and offers of alliance or patronage from various powers, but none are really tempting... and Hamanap decides not to commit to anything until the other guild leaders have returned. Xankoris and Hiskel (plus Limar, by association) will gain great fame in particular, for their deeds at the Storming.
With many things to do, Xankoris start with making Shrine of Suitengu first. Next, he'll find the Naga who can cure his taint. Last, he'll go back to Provincia. Sure, that gaijin black scroll is still in Rizdar's turf, but that means going back to ask for help is a must, maybe from Phoenix. It's not like he doesn't trust harriers or anything, but he also has to find a way to gain more favor so he can deal with Zhongshan in Rokugani's way. "I'm not sure if 2 years is going to be enough for this, Siwan," said Xankoris while thinking about his schedule. "Hope it wouldn't take too long."
"A real necromancer would be useful to have when dealing with Ishconn but unfortunately there are too many diehard good types here that'll give me issues just for talking to you. How are things in Jorvasskors court?" -"first time I'm hearing of a blue dragon in these lands would you mind marking his pyramid on my map?" Hiskel having so much free time will take on a apprentice for a trial run.
Josh  said: "A  real  necromancer would be useful to have when dealing with Ishconn but unfortunately there are too many diehard good types here that'll give me issues just for talking to you. How are things in Jorvasskors court?" Klaus laughs again, speaking with his noticeable lisp. "I underthtand. Thingth are very interethting there... I've been thtudying under Withe, a prodigy of our dark art. Tho much potential... we're working on a new creation, thomething thhe callth a 'meat dragon.' I look forward to thowing you one day." Josh  said: -"first time I'm hearing of a blue dragon in these lands would you mind marking his pyramid on my map?" "I don't know exactly where it is... I heard the story a few years ago. But somewhere maybe up here in the northwest, I think," Rosaria says, peering over the map. "Near Pyramid Bridge ." Josh  said: Hiskel having so much free time will take on a apprentice for a trial run.  Roll Truespeak to guage which applicant has the most potential, to be worth taking on. Ritt K.  said: With many things to do, Xankoris start with making Shrine of Suitengu first. Next, he'll find the Naga who can cure his taint. Last, he'll go back to Provincia. "I'm not sure if 2 years is going to be enough for this, Siwan," said Xankoris while thinking about his schedule. "Hope it wouldn't take too long." With your help, the shugenja you met in Waterwend  soon has raised a proper Shrine of Suitengu  in Treefall . He thanks you graciously for everything, and stays there to be his attendant. Once that's done, you spend several months seeking out the rumored naga who can help you, but in the end your clues point back to the Kingdom of Provincia  as well... you have no choice but to follow both trails home on a long journey by land and sea. Isora watches over you along the way, and once there you speak with the daimyos and learn more of what's been happening: your messages ignited a fierce debate over the Black Scroll, who's to blame for its theft and who has the right to reclaim it. There have been skirmishes between the clans, and the Crane daimyo privately asks you to return to Terolus and ensure that the scroll is recovered by the Crane. He assures you that your clan's harriers will provide any aid needed in this task.  While visiting your family and childhood friends there, you also have time to investigate the legends of the naga in Oerik who can cure the Taint. But to your surprise, you find that he is also  in the Catacombs! The one you seek is not a Rokugani naga, but a northern variety who learned the secrets of pearl magic from them during his travels. According to the Crab clan's archives, he now dwells deep in a hidden temple in the Catacombs, and is called Carnasi... the Golden One. Within a year, the  Stonefare  has been developed into a bustling trade route and trade flows more freely along the  Stone River  than ever before.  Base Camp  flourishes, and the northern river cities recover from the war. Without raiding from Zorall, Gurak, and Grizzled One, this new abundance is less checked than in the past, and the fertility of the land from the Worldrain ensures that no one goes hungry. The surface is as peaceful and happy as anyone can remember, for a time, and the Wayfinders are beloved by the towns they saved. The Red King also continues to grow steadily in power, collecting taxes in coin and kind from the towns he protects, keeping the savage tribes and evil powers alike at bay. The Narook hobgoblin tribe near the  Wintereye  submits to his authority, and many of their members join his garrisons. He also cuts a deal with a Scarrak gnoll tribe, giving them his support to raid the nearby Lintag orcs, who have long been a bane to Base Camp and its outlying thorps. Some willing subordinates of his are trained as clerics of Astilabor by Limar's mentor Nerosian, and Her first actual church in centuries is raised in his main territory (some time before Limar builds her first new Temple in the  Stonefare ). Limar builds and links more shrines in his liege lord's other territories and garrisons as well, over time. The Red King and Limar also raise a coast guard to patrol the  Stone  and  Orthan Rivers , keeping the peace and helping sailors, which further improves the river-trade over time.

Avariel will spend the time that he isn't spending on research on the hidden temple of Elhonna travelling from place to place performing random acts of kindness, spreading hope and preaching the word of his god, and just generally being a cinnamon roll. As usual he won't accept any payment for any healing or the like he might provide, feeling truly that helping others is its own reward (especially the smiles. He loves the smiles) Also OOC: I finally got around to making a drawing of Beacon  and it looks a bit different from what you have but it was how I imagined the blade would look, especially with the new info that it has the shocking property...the inscription reads Azath nikkum a'vakir ketom innamun  which means "Swift justice always befalls tyrants." The word innamun (pl. "always") is sometimes added to that mantra as a matter of preference.

It's easy enough to find a farmboy in Base Camp  to show you the way to the tiny farming settlement. Members of a few different gnomish clans live there, and after speaking to the Berens you learn that Shamil was a second cousin of the matriarch, kidnapped on a raid about 2 years ago. They're saddened to learn of her death, and her cousin weeps openly while the woman's husband comforts her. "It's very kind of you to bring us her things," he tells you, shaking both your hands in a gesture of deep gratitude. They invite you to stay for supper, and the wake for Shamil that will follow, even sending the boy who brought you into town for a bottle of good whiskey from The Fat Shepherd . Josh  said: Diplomacy 36 for kalemne, The argument being that with the shrine her lands would have more wildlife to hunt. leo gets to learn about  the biomodification of monsters, cause limar is broke. forgery 15 Kalemne seems swayed by this, always a lover of fresh meat. She permits it, and Kraggan raises the shrine when she returns from The Eld , having Nimariel link it. "Hopefully Ehlonna's influence will help bring more good to this dark place..." Kraggan confides to you privately. Before departing for the Flaness , Leo spends a week or so helping Old Murnig with his experiments, learning a bit in the process. Ering, you can roll opposed Forgery to see if you fall for it. Chinara does not, and though she doesn't find Ering unappealing, she's unamused by the deception. Dawi  said: In the next months and years Ering: Studies the potion of Fox's Cunning, trying to explain the hint of Necromancy.  Finishes the  tattoo  on his back, adding various smaller circles like the one on his chest.  Writes a book on sieges, how to build, defend and attack a fortress when high level magic is involved.  Travels to Skyshrowd to visit his family, bringing Limar with him as promised.  He also copies the following spells from scrolls to his spellbook: Low-light vision, Nerveskitter, True Strike, Knock and will try to buy a scroll of Enervation. After thorough study and some careful experimentation, you conclude that the potion of fox's cunning  (map note ZR-43) is cursed to invert its effect: if drunk, it will impose a -4 penalty to Intelligence instead. It seems like the potion was brewed primarily with the main spell, but the necromantic energy of the curse could still be detected, even though it only flipped the effect rather than totally rewriting it. There's a new tattoo shop in Waterwend  called Flowerdragon Tattoo , run by a heavily-inked human man nicknamed 'Red' for his shock of bright red hair. He works on your tattoos with a master's touch, helping you finish them out just the way you want. Knowledge (the planes) applies. Roll Craft (composition) to see how well your book turns out. What do you title it? And do you sell copies to any bookshops or libraries around the Catacombs, or make a copy of the Waypoint 's library ? You have no trouble finding a scroll of enervation  back home in Skyshroud : virtually anything can be tracked down in the bustling, mountaintop metropolis that is the human capital of Terolus! Josh  said: How long are you planning on staying? and will anyone be keeping tabs on Limar? or do i get free reign? Your courtiers insist that you return within a few months to attend to your royal duties, and that's all the leave Ering is able to secure from the Terolus Human Military anyway. Of course, your fame hasn't quite reached Skyshroud , so you need to stay with Ering most of the time so people don't attack you on sight as a green dragon. But you do have a chance to see the grand Temple of Lendys  there, a grand cathedral of marble, gold, and jade that honors the LN dragon god of balance, justice, and law. The high priestess Elaean Lidora is a beautiful gray elf of dragonblood heritage, blessed with horns of tarnished silver like the scales of her deity. She has several underpriestesses and underpriests of various civilized races, all of whom wear tiaras in the fashion of her horns as a symbol of their devotion and respect. Elaean is said to have forged alliances with many of the dragons that dwell in the surrounding mountains, giving them honor and tribute in exchange for their loyalty and peace. You learn that they train many paladins and holy warriors, and that one named Tybin may actually be in the Catacombs area on his long pilgrimage westward.     Elaean and her clergy are intrigued by your tail of redemption and your quest to enshrine all the dragon deities, and treat you as an honored guest. They even assign you a guide from the Temple in place of Ering and offer to send an underpiestess back to the Catacombs with you to build and link a shrine in the Waypoint . Drusilia returns the lavastone longsword she no longer needs to the Waypoint 's vault . Before departing for the Eld , Kraggan visited the Stonefare to deliver Laika's blood money for the destruction of her predecessor Krethka's tribe, as well as to return her magical black dragonbone longbow Kurik, an heirloom of the Eklem kobold tribe. With these gestures, peace was made between the Wayfinders and the Eklem tribe, resolving any lingering tension in Limar's rule over the Stonefare 's kobolds. As agreed, she also helps improve crops around Waterwend with her druidic magic in thanks to the Church of Sheela Peryroyl for sending a weathermage to help the Wayfinders prepare for the Storming of the Waypoint . Checking in weekly on Hunter's progress searching for Moonshadow and Neuromancer, Ering watches him find and stalk the illithids as months turn to years. The skum ranger has several clashes with them, bleeding off their grimlock followers a few a time, but the mindflayers always manage to escape. In one particularly close fight with Neuromancer, Hunter's angelica root amulet fails him as a critical juncture and he's stunned by a wave of psychic energy, about to be devoured--when the passing 105th Squadron saves him just in time, driving off the mindflayer with sword and bow. Unfortunately, Neuromancer and Moonshadow escape to other planes, and once again Hunter must start over in the slow process of finding them; but if he has one virtue, it is his unbreakable relentlessness. The Suloise War draws to a close as the Terolian armies finally hunt down the last of their raiders, and their ironclad warships are driven from the southern coast by the Skyknights' air raids. The lords who rode to war years ago with their bannermen and knights slowly filter back home, including some to Kentwing and Strongtown ... but they bring sad news. Lord Darius Strongtown was slain in the fighting, and his daughter Alicia has been raised to her father's seat as Lady Strongtown, ruler of the northern city. A letter from Zanean Fain of the Deathwalkers brings this news to the Waypoint , carried by his magical raven brooch, but the missive also mentions a lining as silvery as its bearer: with more of Strongtown 's knights home to defend their city, the Deathwalkers are free to commit almost all their forces to their war with the werewolf lord Zanzibar the Mad, and they hope for victory at last by the end of 1423. After Leoavor's return from the Flaness , he and Limar spend a few weeks flying high over the Catacombs improving Leo's map of the region, which he then makes fresh copies of for Limar, Kraggan, himself, and the Waypoint 's library :
in skyshroud with a whole month to waste, limar will take 20 to gather info on the priest of chronepsis anaveth and meet her is she's till there. he'll also look at the sites. will the underpriest of lendys be staying or departing after finishing the shrine at the waypoint? I'm hoping to get an evangelist for the stonefare. -and since he's broke, he'll be bunking at the ering house hold or the lendys place in return for some favors.

You soon learn that Analeth can be found in the Darkling Mausoleum , Skyshroud 's temple of Chronepsis. The shadowy mausoleum is concealed deep in the undercity cut into the living rock of the mountains. The half-elven Analeth holds services in the dim, cavernous cathedral each Godsday and on nights when either moon is full, and also oversees the burial of any dragons or dragonblooded who die in Skyshroud within the winding catacombs around the temple. Your guide from the Temple of Lendys  shows you around the city, an endlessly awesome place for such a small dragon who's only ever known little towns and villages. You see huge, rowdy taverns, bustling avenues choked with carts, strutting nobility in all their finery, Skyknights soaring overhead on giant eagles, the beautiful Workshops at Alwick  displaying their precious wares, the grand statue of Razi outside the House of the Burning Sun , the legendary halls of the  University of Skyshroud , the bristling defenses of the  Terolus Human Military Headquarters , the cluster of towers called the Cloudspire  where the royal family lives, and the mysterious Weatherstone  in the foothills outside the city. You might be able to convince the Lendysian priest to stay a while longer in the wilds. Roll Diplomacy and make your argument. I'm sure House Walfire will be happy to provide a guest room for a petty king and friend of their son's, along with any comforts he requires. :P Nate S. said: Avariel will also work with Hamanap and the other clerical folk to arrange memorial services for those who were lost in the Stone River War. You notice that many of the former soldiers of Zorall are absent, though.
Limar will try to get a meeting with anaveth in which he'd show her his copyied hour glass and ask if she could tell him his future. -he'll also spend his godsdays at the  Darkling Mausoleum and try to learn more about the temple and what benefits they offer if any. In it he explains how the presence of magic can shape a siege, how to repel flying or burrowing creatures and of course how good knowledge of your enemy makes all the difference. He draws parallels to the siege of the Waypoint to support his points. He uses the Amanuensis spell to make numerous copies to sell, but he will gift one the Waypoint's Library and to the church of Deep Sashelas as a token of appreciation for the help before the siege. Since Limar is a guest Ering will make sure his needs are fully met. "This part of the world does  seem awfully wild... and I've already heard tales of dragons performing all sorts of unnatural acts, like that pervert Zorall. I will stay for some time longer, and see what order I can bring to this wilderness," agrees the nobleborn human underpriestess of Lendys, Monica Rydell. She also raises a new Shrine of Lendys  in the kobold Temple of Tiamat  in the Stonefare , using your subjects' labor and some coin from your treasury. She and Laika get along well, thanks to the ideological similarities in their faiths, and she manages to spread Lendys's teachings among some of the Eklem kobolds.

Also, he will ask questions about the golems and probably not understand any of the answers. "I'm a bit of a bird brain sometimes, but I try to laugh it off...after all, it's better to celebrate one's strengths than to lament one's weaknesses," Avariel says with a chuckle. He clearly doesn't even notice the unintentional pun.
When Ering returned to the Stone River Waypoint  in 1422 (more accurately, thanks to his notes on the army's special teleport  spell), Limar and 15 newly-assigned infantry soldiers were sent back with him. Over the last year, these troops have had time to grow familiar with the Catacombs region and their new base of operations, as well as their new commanding officer and comrades.  From Private Kalim's superstitous preference for using only the arrows he fletches himself, to Private Jason's colorful insults ("you warthog-faced backside of a kraken" comes to mind), to Private Ketch's trouble remembering non-Orc names, to Private "Preacher" Harvey's loud Cuthbertine devotion, to Private "Loverboy" Kamren's stories about all the past girlfriends tattooed on his arms, one and all have made themselves memorable around the fortress.

After the events at Rizdar's Castle , the Wayfinders and their allies return to the  Stone River Waypoint , in pairs and groups. Some can teleport , others (such as Balthasar and Edmund) must travel overland. Wrad, Arsenal, Shouyo, and Sidsaspi are invited to stay in guest rooms in the fortress for the night, and servants fill tubs with buckets of hot water for the weary heroes to scrub away the sweat and blood of battle. Kraggan speaks briefly with Hamanap and Ering about what happened, but given the hour and exhaustion of her guildmates, decides a full debriefing can wait until morning. Moonday, Patchwall 17th dawns crisp and sunny, refreshing after the sorrows and failures of the previous night. Kraggan calls all the members of the Wayfinders, as well as the allies who joined them on the raid, to the secure councilroom  in the cellars . A hearty breakfast has been laid out there: fresh hot brown bread, butter and strawberry jam, fried chicken and duck eggs, a hash of potatoes and bacon, biscuits smothered with rich gravy, jugs of iced milk, weak ale, and cold water. As everyone digs in, Kraggan (standing on her chair to be better heard, as forest gnomes are not very tall) says "First, let me welcome our new friend Wrad. Hamanap and Ering told me of your deeds at Rizdar's Castle , and your holy purpose, and I'm grateful for your help." From the wooden holy symbol of Ehlonna she wears, Wrad can tell she is a fellow devout who will understand his work well. "Now," Kraggan continues, "I've also heard the short version of what happened last night... and I saw that thing  on Celene from here, felt the ground shake and the wind howl. We need to discuss the greater implications of this event. Rizdar is gone from this world, but is he beyond our reach? Can we afford to let him do what he's doing up there? I want to hear from all of you: What should we do about this?" With that, the little Guildmistress sits back down to listen, feeding her dog Adria scraps of biscuit under the table.

hiskel-"I don't believe he his beyond our reach, we've got the contacts that getting a few scrolls of greater teleport should be easy enough, but it would certainly be overextending it, it took months of infilitration by harriers, and a joint effort with the red kings army to corner rizdar once. Sending in the away team alone would be near suicidal right now." And when the worse come to worst, Unicorn's influence around The Burning Sands  could gather some spellcasters that know a thing or two about Moon."     Balthasar and Edmund are enjoying the meal like they never tasted any of it before. After finishing it, Balthasar suggests: "There are two ways that I see. First, we can find a way to contact one of the fiercest Celene's citizens: Lunar Dragon. Though they should not be trusted at all cost, they sure will like to know how to break that castle and kill everyone inside it."     Balthasar then places a small rectangle box on the table. "Second, I'll find my guild. Usually, it's impossible to find them, but they're prepared for the apocalypse. They are probably working hard to deal with this world-end-scenario as well."     He glances at Ering and then the magical haversack. "Actually, I have another option. Ering slowly gets up from his chair, looking calmer, cleaner and more composed than the day before. His familiar Vigil stands proudly on his shoulder, eyeing everyone in the council room.  "Wrad, Arsenal, as Kraggan already said, welcome to the Waypoint." "The ones that know me the longest probably already know what I'm going to say, but I do believe it is the most important part of winning any conflict. We need more information . There is too much that is unclear and we cannot formulate a plan if we don't know what exactly our enemies are up to. The most pressing matter is... How much time do we have? If Rizdar really freed Tenebrous and fled to Celene how long until he wreaks havoc on this world? How long until our own Gods are in danger? If what the Red Wizard, and may his soul burn in the hottest fires for all eternity, said is true, and he indeed struck a deal with the God-Wraith, what were the terms of their arrangement?"  The necromancer pauses for a moment, grabs his lucky platinum coin and starts to absentmindedly play with it. "But that is not all we need to know. What did Hesilith gain in his alliance with Rizdar? Why did the warriors of the Scorpion Clan intervene when they were only supposed to watch the scroll being delivered by the Crane? Why all the Infernal statues in Rizdar castle when he aligned himself with the wraith-form of a demon lord?"  Ering picks up his cup and takes a long sip of wine. "And again. What do we know about the Scroll? It appears to be an imitation made by the Lich-King Tellaj himself of the Second Black Scroll, the one capable to conjure a giant citadel of undead iron. Who inhabits it right now apart from Rizdar, his apprentices and that dwarf? Why place it on Selene? Just to be able to watch Oerth burn?"  "I think it's time for research, investigation, divination..." Ering looks at Hiskel "And the Lexicon." Has Ering heard of a "Lunar Dragon"? Or any wildlife on Celene?  Profession (Astronomer): 21 (5 if it doesn't depend on int.) Knowledge (Arcana): 30
Hamanap begins by recounting the events of the evening in full, so everyone will be on the same page for the discussion that follows, including those who stayed behind to guard the Waypoint . She seems tired but filled with a new resolve, the tension between her and Ering apparently gone. Josh  said: hiskel-"I don't believe he his beyond our reach, we've got the contacts that getting a few scrolls of greater teleport should be easy enough, but it would certainly be overextending it, it took months of infilitration by harriers, and a joint effort with the red kings army to corner rizdar once. Sending in the away team alone would be near suicidal right now." "Perhaps... but the situation's not really the same now, is it?" Leoavor muses while swirling his wine goblet, the half-elven wizard's tone gentle and disarming. "Before, we were trying to use stealth to steal the Scroll out from under his nose. If he's already used it, it comes down to a straight fight...  if  we want to kill him. But would that even do anything?" The guild champion Drusilia, scarred and stoic, says "If we do, Hiskel's right: we'll need allies. The Storm is very deadly, even without his army." Josh  said: Arsenal-"I suppose it depends on what furnishings his new castle comes with, if its just him and his apprentices up there we could take them out no problem but a full garrison of monstrous beings would require more stealth than I think this group is capable of..." -"That dwarf that was with them, while I didnt know him,  I ido recognize those shadows that clung to him, he is connected to Tenebrous." "I'm sure they aren't just holed up there alone," the pale and androgynous Axil says, frowning. "They wouldn't have chosen such an obvious place to set up their new base, unless they have the means to defend it. Tenebrous may be helping them, too... He's a god of undeath, after all, and undead can survive pretty much anywhere." "This is true," confirms Chinara, the severe priestess of Wee Jas in ornate vestments. "Undead do not need air, water, food, or rest. They are the perfect guardians in such hostile terrain. But also are we well-equipped to handle them in open confrontation." Profession (astronomer) applies, trained only. "I'll help you contact them, Xankoris. Just give me a name and description, as is usual, along with the message you need to send ." Several of the Wayfinders look surprised, and a little nervous. "Is the Wand that  powerful? It was in our vault  for years..." Leoavor asks, growing pale.  "If you think they can help us, reach out to them," Kraggan says, nodding to Balthasar. "Our agreement still stands: help us stabilize this Black Scroll situation, and the Wand is yours. If there ends up being nothing we can do, I'll consider your debt paid--but not until we're sure, one way or the other." Dawi  said: "The ones that know me the longest probably already know what I'm going to say, but I do believe it is the most important part of winning any conflict.  We need more information . Just to be able to watch Oerth burn?"  "I think it's time for research, investigation, divination..." Ering looks at Hiskel "And the Lexicon." "That seems the wisest course for now," Hamanap agrees, as Leoavor nods along. "This situation is clearly terrible, but we must know what is happening in order to act with purpose." "You know..." Leo says, cautiously, "...there's a chance Rizdar left behind some clues in his Castle . If we could get the Red King to let us search, we might find some answers there, or at least some leads." "When Tenebrous last arose, He slew several gods before He was banished," the minstrel Anti reminds the guild, helping herself to a rasher of fried duck eggs. "I'll bet the other gods are moving against Him, even now. We might find some help in the Outer Planes ." Hamanap raises a brow with interest. "Some more powerful divinations than we have used in the past may be in order. I could try to  commune  with Bahamut. Perhaps Wrad could do the same with Nola." Turning to the yaun-ti sorcerer, she asks, "Sidsaspi, can you think of any reason why Hesilith should have suddenly joined forces with Rizdar, after fighting him for so long?" Knowledge (religion) and Sense Motive apply. "Should we reach out to Meilin again, too?" Axil asks. "She's tricky, but it sounds like she was blindsided by the ninjas' actions too... and she really cares about breaking the Black Scroll's power." Sylas, Hamanap's fostered gold dragon wyrmling, suddenly speaks up excitedly. "OH! Oh! oh! I know this! I read about this! Tenebrous was born from Orcus's soul, but was only a reflection of Him! Orcus is Patron of the Undead, so scholars think Tenebrous was only the part of him concerned with undeath! He had none of Orcus's chaotic nature, and was pure evil instead!" Hamanap smiles at Sylas bemusedly, offering him a plate of hash in reward for his cleverness, then says "Sylas is correct. Tenebrous is no demon Himself, but a manifestion of evil and undeath in divine form... and if He now exists independent of Orcus, the danger He presents is vastly beyond what He did before. We must find out if that is the case as well." Axil nods slowly, adding "I've heard rumors that Rizdar likes to make contracts with devils... I suppose the shrines you found have something to do with that." Knowledge (the planes) applies. Ritt K. said: Balthasar suggests: "There are two ways that I see. Or any wildlife on Celene?  Profession (Astronomer): 21 (5 if it doesn't depend on int.) Knowledge (Arcana): 30 Ering knows from his studies that the surfaces of the moons are barren, dusty, and crater-pocked terrain, without even air to breathe, but they are not lifeless. They are sparsely inhabited by creatures that can survive without air, water, or food, such as constructs, undead, and elementals (especially vacuum and dust elementals), though the lunar energy has imbues them with special strengths and weaknesses: compared to creatures of Oerth, Lunar creatures suffer half damage from [air], [fire], and [water] effects, or no damage on a successful save. They take double damage from earth-based attacks and [earth] spells. They receive a +10 bonus to saves against mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects), mind blasts and psionic attacks, and detect thoughts due to their alien psychology. He has read accounts of lunar dragons as well, a strange and specialized variety of true dragon adapted to the lunar environment. Chaotic evil, these hulking behemoths look like they could never get into the air--their torn, unkempt wings seem too small for their bodies, and are believed to be vestigial, suggesting that they are not native to the moons. Their skin is a creepy, unhealthy white, ribbed by a sea of writhing blood vessels, and a ring of horns surrounds their faces, which are dominated by massive, asymmetrical maws of teeth pointing in all directions. They do not maintain lairs or gather hoards, instead wandering aimlessly, destroying whatever they encounter. Though they are intelligent, explorers have generally found them vicious, brutal, and impossible to understand or deal with.
hiskel pulls out the lexicon " what do you want to ask it Ering?" -keep in mind it can only answer in the words it has, its usually cryptic and can only be used once a week. when Limar returns he brings some new information. "Sorry it took so long had to make some arrangements, I do agree that gathering info and allies is the best course for now, has Ering reported this to his army mage guild yet?" Wouldn't that corrupt them?"  Josh said: hiskel pulls out the lexicon " what do you want to ask it Ering?" -keep in mind it can only answer in the words it has, its usually cryptic and can only be used once a week. when Limar returns he brings some new information. "Sorry it took so long had to make some arrangements, I do agree that gathering info and allies is the best course for now, has Ering reported this to his army mage guild yet?" "as for news on my end, Chronepsis said he and some of the other deities of fate will be having a council to deal with this event horizon, The only real piece of good news is that Tenebrous is not as unstoppable as he seems. And I quote " The very magic that gives Him power will also be His greatest vulnerability. When the time comes to sever that link" "I'm not sure yet, Hiskel. Maybe something that has to do with the scroll, since they were both made by Tellaj." (Is Limar arriving during our meeting or later?) "I have yet to report and ask for aid, though I fear I will be blamed for what happened." Ering lowers his head, somewhat disappointed. "The news you bring is great but also adds more questions. We know that Tellaj used Tenebrous' destruction to power the scroll... Could he still be tied to it somewhat? Would destroying the scroll have an effect?" Max said: "You know..." Leo says, cautiously, "...there's a chance Rizdar left behind some clues in his Castle . If we could get the Red King to let us search, we might find some answers there, or at least some leads." "When Tenebrous last arose, He slew several gods before He was banished," the minstrel Anti reminds the guild, helping herself to a rasher of fried duck eggs. Knowledge (religion) and Sense Motive apply. Ering nods after Leoavor speaks. "Rizdar was informed of our attack and even had time to empty his vaults, and while most of his research has probably been destroyed or is on Celene with him, we might find something useful. That said, the Red King has now claimed the castle, and we might need someone well versed in the Arcane to find any clues, but... I definitely won't be welcomed with open arms by them. Would you be up for it, Leo? I know a good spell to detect secret doors that might be useful in your search." "Rizdar had two full years to completely understand the Scroll, it would be foolish for us to try and do the same with Heavens know how much time we have left... But he or his apprentices might have consulted libraries or sages throughout the Catacombs. It's a long shot, but it might be worth." "I know that Xankoris might disagree but Meilin would be a great ally in this fight. She seems very informed about the Black Scrolls and we need to know more about them." Ering turns to Arsenal and smiles. "Nerosian already sent you to help us but she also has... Access to a great deal of knowledge. Her assistance would be invaluable." "Did you already forget that taint is exclusive to Rokugani? It's more like Rokugani's allergy to potent evil. And taint seems not to be able to spread to divine beings, as far as the record show. So... if say we can call upon a non-evil non-Rokugani's deity to usurp Tenebrous power, that means Rizdar will at least have to give a second thought on using the scroll." Xankoris explained in a lively manner. "Anyone can suggest any deity that would kindly help us in this? I mean it's going to be a lot, considering many beings don't want this to happen." Wrad would have proposed again to walk with the wind to get back to Stone River Waypoint (if it's in the 700miles). He could have bring with him 4 persons. Wrad would warmly thank Kragan for his welcome words and would confirm his determination to fight against those who wish the return of The Tenebrous. Wrad honored the breakfast and tasted all the dishes. The events of the day before, Rizdar's escape still troubled him. He still regretted having chosen to unleash the winds rather than attempt a spell of silence to prevent Rizdar to cast his greater teleport spell. Such an amount of information, Wrad would try to understand what possible for his mind... but he listened very carefully learning a lot. Wrad would proposed to be part or to lead the embassy to get the authorization from the Red King to search for clues in the former Rizdar's castle. This time, the faces spell out the Draconic sentence  "the Black Scroll of ♑︎ Tellaj has no weakness". And yet, despite the initial foreboding of his answer, there's something very  odd  about the phrasing... this syntax is unusual in Draconic, and suggests a layered meaning. Decipher Script applies. Thinking back, they both remember the bound hamatula they faced in his dungeons, and Ering also recalls another one like it fighting on Rizdar's side during the Storming of the Waypoint ... For deities and demigods alike, more devotees means more power, so their constant struggle for influence on the Material Plane is waged largely through the construction and destruction of shrines, churches, temples, and congregations, from passive evangelism to open warfare. Less-popular demigods, such as the nine Archdevils of Hell , are more generous in rewarding those willing to support them, so the help of one of their powerful devil servants for a new shrine is a very reasonable deal. On the other hand, Wrad can't see how a devout priest of a Demon Lord like Hesilith would ever  want or accept power from Archdevils... after all, the only creatures that hate devils more than angels do are demons . The two races have been waging their Blood War against each other since prehistory, probably part of why Hesilith and Rizdar were feuding for years, before this unexpected new alliance. No, it seems to him that Hesilith must've had a totally different reason to bury the hatchet... that Rizdar must have offered him something of incredible value, something impossible to refuse even from a hated foe... something no one else could give him. Ering's mind goes to what Chinara said about undead being suited for the moons, though, and he has to agree. He's read about the environmental conditions and dangers of space, including the lunar surfaces. For one thing, gravity (the mysterious force that pulls everything downward) is weaker on Luna , and weaker still on Celene , where land speeds and falling damage are halved but everyone gets +20 to Jump checks. The vacuum is the most immediate danger, causing aeroembolisms, lung ruptures, and finally suffocation; the surest protection for living creatures is to create a shell of breathable air, such as with the spell life bubble , a Necklace of Adaptation, or the like. Unfiltered solar radiation is also surprisingly deadly, for Oerth's thick atmosphere scatters much of the energy that comes off of Liga , the sun. But on the airless moons, fire resistance or immunity is an important protection during the daylight hours (neither moon is tidally locked to Oerth or Liga , so they have their own normal day-night cycles). We'd need a greater teleport  for that too..." Leoavor groans, rubbing his face with his hands. "Unless the Emperor sends help, as Xankoris hopes," Drusilia adds encouragingly.
" Last Word ... Didn't think of that..." Xankoris said in exasperation. "There's a Void Spell that will force anyone who hasn't faced the Void to stand bewildered, but both Tenebrous and Rizdar's spell resistance is going to be too strong for me to pierce through... If there's a way to lower it though..." Xankoris mumbles to himself: "Is Otu still around here?" Balthasar listened to what Sylas said and looks at Edmund, Edmund also did the same. Both exchange awkward hands gesture for half a minute or so. "Fine, since I offered an option, I'll say it." Balthasar turns to Sylas. "Remember when I spoke to Limar that there aren't so many terrestrial dragons at Waypoint? Because Lunar Dragons have killed most of them. Heard a rumor once of some that still left now turned away from Bahamut and Tiamat, now pray to Lunar Dragon's deity so they can survive a day or two more." "Even the prideful red one and silver," Edmund added. "Yep. So if you wanna do that, choose your line carefully." Balthasar warned.
