Northern Border was never a peaceful one. But Cormyr was never a weak Kingdom. Over the centuries, pride nation of Purple Dragon stood fast against the barbarian hordes from the North, monstrosities of Storm Horns, Pirates of the Sea of Fallen Stars, Orks and Goblinoids of Stonelands and many other challenges that would threw different countries to their knees. Different countries yes, but not the Forest Kingdom. Recently though, things started to be more complicated than usually. First unfortunate blow came with early demise of King Azoun III. Heir to the throne, Azoun IV is not yet of age (currently 13 yo) so he couldn't be declared a new king. In his stead, Princes Alusair Obarskyr, Azoun's elder sister, took an office of Regent and started to rule the kingdom of Cormyr to the displease of as many as the ones happy of her being in charge. The internal division in the country certainly wasn't helpful to reform the state, but with iron will and consequence, young princess pressed forward, surrounded by the loyal host of Purple Dragons and counseled by friend and mentor Lady Calednei, one of the Cormyrian War Wizards. Over the time, people of Cormyr relized that under her leadership not only they avoid many of problems with external dangers but also kingdom itself begin to prosper, becoming both military and commercial power of the region. And one by one, voices of complain about woman sitting on the throne were disappearing. Until the problems to the North started. The Dawn of calamity was a fall of old cormyrian stronghold in wild and ruthless region in the North-Western part of the kingdom, known to all as Stonelands. With the fall of the Stonekeep, the last bastion of Forest Kingdom was gone and now the hordes of Barbarians, Orks, Goblinoids, Giants and all kinds of other wild beings were able to directly threaten city of Tilverton. The voices of complaints on "incompetence" of woman on the throne started to be heard across the kingdom again, but that was just the beginning. In mysterious, magical catastrophe, Northern-most city of Cormyr, Tilverton was covered by the dome of shadow and darkness. Almost nobody from it's inhabitants was able to escape this event and those who did were telling stories contradictory one to another. Immediate investigations bring no answer neither, as whoever traveled beyond the veil of shadow was never to be seen again. By the Royal Decree, city was declared under quarantine and all travel to and from Tilverton was halt by the permanent watch of War Wizards of Cormyr. And then the hordes arrived. Unchecked by any lines of defense or resistance, barbarians and goblinoids started to loot and burn northern region. Voices of complain on Regent's failure were now more frequent than ever and even the most loyal among the nobles began to lose their patience. But then, as many times before, Calednei came with clever solution. Signed by the hand of Heir to the Throne, a Decree was sent throughout the land of the Forest Kingdom, looking for capable men and women willing to take upon a task of reclaiming lost Stonekeep and restore the control over the lawless region. Suicidal nature of the request though, kept most of the potential candidates away from answering the call. Even the promise of the title of Baron wasn't enough to find those courageous (and crazy) enough to take up on the task. That was until now... Greetings good Sires and Ladies! This short introduction supposed to give you a little bit of an insight into theme of this campaign, that will take part in one of the most wild and dangerous region of Forgotten Realms, base of Great Desert - Anauroch, the notorious Stonelands. We are using "old" Forgotten Realms (before spell plague and all that nonsense that killed most of the heroes of Realms and turned it into very weird place) so all iconic characters like Sorcerer Queen Simbul, Drizzt do'Urden, Lady Alustriel, Masked Witches of Rashemen etc are still alive, in good condition and kicking. As players you will be tasked, by Princess Regent of Cormyr, to reclaim an old fortress of the kingdom deep within the Stonelands and then to manage it back into capable and lasting bastion of resistance against the wild hordes of men and monsters. The campaign will be played on 2 levels: macro and micro. In micro campaign you will be playing the game as usual (exploring the land, delving into dungeons, claiming treasures and slaying monstrous bosses). In macro level things will be a bit more funky. You will have a castle to take care of (and in time hopefully also vast land surrounding it). The success of the campaign will depends of both levels (with stronger emphasis on macro management). So aside of doing quests and looting monster's hoards you can expect a good deal of army and economy management as well as epic battles with all kinds of wild hordes threatening the peace of not just Cormyr, but your Barony in the first place. If you feel ready to the task, join our merry band and carve your name in the history of the Forgotten Realms.
