Everyone knows not to venture where the smoke rolls over the hills and chokes the songs from the birds; where the heat bears down on the land and nothing grows from the ground; where the only sounds that can be heard are rumbling growls, thunderous roars, and the screams of unfortunate travelers... But the smoke has been creeping out from the hills of late, and the screams have been growing in number as the days go by. Farmers and their livestock have disappeared - their fields burnt to the ground and their villages reduced to smoking rubble. Merchant caravans have stopped running through the land, and kingdom is close to collapse. The King has proclaimed that any soul brave enough to venture into the Smoldering Hills and stop whatever is coming forth from the acrid smoke will receive a grand reward of 1000 gold pieces. A roar pierces the smoke, striking fear into the hearts of all those who hear it. Many are urging their loved ones to pack up and go as far away as possible. Will you leave with the rest, or will you answer the call and face The Beast of the Smoldering Hills? We're looking for 1 more player for this one shot adventure! The Beast of the Smoldering Hills is an original adventure for 5th edition D&D. This adventure is a combat-oriented dungeon crawl, and is meant for 4-5 players at level 11. We'll complete this adventure in a single session lasting approximately 4-5 hours. We'll be using a 27 point buy for stats. Players have starting class equipment, as well as 2000 gp for weapons, armor, sundries, spell components, and common magic items priced per the Discerning Merchant's Price Guide . Players may also choose two free uncommon magic items . Player inventories will be subject to DM approval. Players may use D&D official source material from Player's Handbook , Volo's Guide to Monsters , Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes , Xanathar's Guide to Everything , Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide , or any of the campaign or campaign companion books (e.g. Hoard of the Dragon Queen or Elemental Evil Player's Companion ).
