Mongoose 2e Traveller Character Sheet - Updates

Wait, what? I was under the impression that the charactermancer requires a compendium to work with, as in an official compendium. How can you make it work without one? Maybe a custom one can work, but how far can you go before it becomes problematic copyright-wise? Not trying to be a wet blanket here, just wondering.

What does your charactermancer stuff entail exactly? A possibility of rolling MongTrav 2e characters directly in Roll20 with the career options, events and all -- or am I badly misunderstanding this?

As far as I can tell, the charactermancer doesn't require a compendium. My plan is to design the charactermancer so I can easily remove/reword the tables if Mongoose requests it. Yes, I plan to have it roll MongTrav 2e characters with career options, events, and all.

Hi Scott,

Although technically such rules can be implemented ‘in character sheet’, you should note:

Specifically second part of point 1 (Code of Conduct):

Do not infringe on intellectual property. Community sheets should not include character creation or advancement due to potential copyright restrictions.

I think you need to clear this with Mongoose on the questions part of their forums first as there’s  no point implementing this if they prohibit it, and it’s a courtesy. As per the above, Roll20 may reject it anyway…

If that is the case, still a great project to make your home games very cool ;-)

Coryphon, I do hope you will still continue your work on the current sheet. There's no telling when the Mongoose sheet will be released (even if they claim 'soon', it could be many, many months away) or how good it actually is (could be a very plain sheet - at least, at first). Your work on improving the current sheet has made it very good and I will mostly likely be using it (with a few customizations) even after the official Mongoose sheet is published (unless that sheet really blows my socks off - but even then, those sheets are not customizable, AFAIK, which I need for my house rules).

It may be that they will add compendium, or adventures, but whether that presupposes a character sheet I’m not sure at this stage…

Hey Donald,

I think I added a repeating skill group that you can add any extras like these to, you add a label and then it’s the usual three numeric fields… I’m sure I did this as there was a request for the Luck skill…

Created a jsfiddle to play around with re-styling the roll templates here:  https://jsfiddle.net/pelwer/qhufax0s/136/

Feel free to improve on it.    I am no CSS wizard - that's for sure.

I tried to include all the feedback from this thread as well as explicitly printing the "Effect" of the roll.   There may be other things we want to be displayed.  I'll leave it up to Coryphon to decide if he wants to include any of these changes in the official version.

Any chance that the problem with freight on the Trade  tab will get fixed any time soon? IE: 'Major Cargos' are not all -one- size, but are 1d6x10 tons, -each-. That's a spread, from 10-60 tons. (and similarly, for Minor  - 1d6x5, 5-30 tons spread)

Yep, that’s the major outstanding issue, back on the 3rd after 3 months in Thailand ;-) Will be fixed in Jan for sure!

The other small thing that was on my wishlist, is having -2- entries, for 'group funds', to make separating 'operating income' (Freight & passengers), from speculative cargo easier (as party I'm running, is running a subsidized merchant) . Which means 50% of operating income, goes to owner, while spec cargo is all -theirs- (and pays cargo rates,  to operating fund).

Hi All,

I'll soon be working on the next round of bug fixes and features. I'm going to add them to GitHub (here) in the form:

Feel free to raise similar ones (although best to post here as well as I'm not sure how to get alerts on issues!)

The current outstanding list which I've gleaned from this forum is:

  • Add field in turret for Barbette/Bays/Spinal multipliers
  • Add DD support to all weapons on all sheets (currently only on vehicle and ship weapons)
  • Freight lot sizes incorrectly implemented
  • Add the Psi Stat to the NPC sheet
  • Extra entry(ies) for Group Funds to separate speculative from freight/cargo*
  • Adding optional wounding rules from Traveller Companion
  • Under the Ship Sheet "Running Costs" there is a field for Monthly Maintenance. The next field says "Purchase Cost". Should this not be Monthly Mortgage? (Need to add: Fuel (full tank) cost, mortgage, life support, salaries etc. from Mg Ship Sheet I guess?)*
  • Parse UWPs in the form UWP: B 5 4 6 8 4 9 – 9 to allow easier copy paste from TravellerMap
  • Add (possibly conditionally/option checkbox) restyled roll templates from Pat
  • Mark GitHub Bug: Mongoose Traveller 2e: Bug in Roll for Psionic power #10094 as complete
  • Investigate adding short form (tab-delimited) subsector information parsed into a tab to give a list of systems to drive trade (speculative, probably won't happen to avoid sheet bloat, caveats apply etc. etc. ;-)

Hi All,

Next release nearly ready to roll, will have:

  • Add DD (destructive) support to all weapons on all sheets (currently only on vehicle and ship weapons) Added for PC, NPC & Animal
  • Freight lot sizes incorrectly implemented Done but waiting for final approval from requestor via DM
  • Add the Psi Stat to the NPC sheet Done, straight copy'n'paste but visibility controlled by checkbox as takes a fair amount of space
  • Adding optional wounding rules from Traveller Companion New config checkbox that shows a textbox under main stats
  • Under the Ship Sheet "Running Costs" there is a field for Monthly Maintenance. The next field says "Purchase Cost". Should this not be Monthly Mortgage? Added Mortgage, Life Support, Salaries and Full Tank Fuel costs

Excellent! Thanks for your continued hard work on the sheet!

Noticed a bug in the header. There's an errant '&nbsp' by the settings button (see pic 1, below).

Also, when using the alternate roll template, any skill specialities are not shown. They are shown with the original template. It would be nice to have them show with the new template too. (See pic 2, below. Both rolls are with the same skill.)

My players love the sheet, but they really love the "Notes" tab that gives them a giant text box to type in.  Can you please look into the feasibility of adding a similar tab to the ship sheet?  My players love to detail all the crap they have stored in the ship's locker....

Hi Pat,

Sure, can do that in several ways, can create sub-tabs so there would be Ship and Notes in the same way PC has Prime, Skills etc.

Or could add expandable panel on current Ship sheet (which is quite large vertically)…

Could also add a repeating group like an inventory with Item #Items Weight(?) similar to the PC inventory…

Thoughts?

To really make this Sheet POP, would be to make the same changes to all the Attack buttons.
It you did that… I would make as many Macros as you want for each of the Weapon Buttons you change.
 
If the Ship Hard Point Weapons had a macro like the one, I made above… then Ship to Ship combat would be very quick and fun as hell! Without such a macro… its just not a fun experience.
 
If you make them Weapon Button changes… I’ll make as many badass macros, as you want. And Post them all right here.

PS.   Each Weapon (1 to 6), has its own Macro to fire the weapon.
I Named it  Fire-Weapon-1  for weapon 1. (2 for 2 and so on)
This is all that is in the Macro

This is what it will look like... If you change the name of the weapon within the sheet... it will change here as well.

i.e Banana Gun
