Allow GM to hide rolls made for players

I'm running a 5e campaign, and there are times I would like to make rolls for the players (like Investigation) without them knowing I made the rolls or seeing the results.  If the player is unaware of something, and I make a roll, they become aware that something is happening.  This pushes them out of "blissfully unaware" mode into "that evil DM is doing something" mode.  I'd like the ability to make those rolls without them seeing it, and don't know a way to do that.
I keep an set of actual, physical dice next to the keyboard along with a note with all my players pertinent skill bonuses.
They Implemented this with the Pathfinder Remaster Sheet, so I guess it is only a matter of time before they make it available all the time and for everyone...
