Group looking for players, FAE/Homebrew Elder Scrolls game and others. (Fridays at 7:30 pm CST, weekly)

Sure, at what'd the time frame be on the intro session?
Hi, I have wanted to be involved in an Elder Scrolls D&D-type RPG game for quite a while now. My name is Ryan, and I am 26. I have several ideas for characters, only two of which I will detail here, for the moment, at least. Name: Silvinai Vestaria Race: Mazken (Dark Seducer) Gender: Female Age: Unknown, but has lived in Tamriel for approximately 10 years. Concept: Silvinai was once a loyal servant of Sheogorath. However, after her last death and reincarnation, she was deemed "too sane" and eventually exiled to Tamriel, losing most of her Daedric power and much of her memory in the transition. She kept most of her fighting skills at first, but those faded within weeks as the last of her Daedric power drained from her. She has since determined that her mortal form, while drastically weaker than her Daedric form in the Shivering Isles, is very resilient and has a mixed variety of strengths and weaknesses similar to the other mortal races of Tamriel. She has excellent night vision, is resistant to all types of elemental damage, is immune to all poisons and diseases, and can hold her breath underwater for a very long time, even while making extreme exertions, but is weak to physical damage, and resistant to magical or alchemical effects meant to heal injuries. She has virtually no magical talent, and struggles to cast even the simplest spell. (30% Fire, Frost, and Lightning Resist, Nighteye, 100% poison and disease immunity, Deep Lungs, 40% weakness to physical damage, 50% resist to healing spells, potions, and alchemical ingredients, -95% mana) (This character is a variation of one that I have wanted to do for a while, but I feel that she is more likely to be acceptable to the DM than the one I really want to do, which is the Daedric equivalent to a succubus. I am not attached to any particular ability I have described, but I feel that they balance each other to the same degree that normal Tamriel races are balanced, albeit she does have more strengths and weaknesses.) Name: Sorin Markoviz Race: Imperial Vampire Lord Gender: Male Age: 5000 Years Concept: Sorin was once a powerful member of Lord Harkon's court. Eventually, though, he tired of the depravity running rampant there, and faked his own death to escape, sealing himself away from the world at the cost of a large portion of the strength of his blood. His enchantment recently broke when a trio of bandits attempted to steal the sword and armor from his tomb. He slew them, but found that he was as weak as he had been that day so long ago when he was first born into vampirism. He has since been working to regain at least some of his former strength by hunting bandits for various Jarls, but with only very limited success. He wishes to kill as many other vampires as he can, while searching for the cure for himself. (He has approximately the same stats as an Imperial Vampire Lord that has been newly turned.) I hope that either of these two characters would be acceptable for inclusion in your campaign, though I am willing to create a more normal one if they aren't.

Sorry fella's I've been at work :-(. Anyways I'm super excited that there is so much interest here! I'm not sure exactly how many people we are going to bring in, but as soon as I figure a few things out we'll actually plan out the "try out" session :-). Ryan I love those concepts however we're starting out as what I would describe as "lower level characters", one's that are more or less in the early days of "adventuring" or whatever and both of those characters are higher level beings if that makes any sense.
I say we grab knifes and tie our left hands together and fight to the death over who joins the game hobostyle
I say we play a game of Nuclear War to decide. Whoever win, loses.
Lol no one needs to die :-). Btw I'm pretty sure that this one shot session will happen a week from this Friday. This coming Friday we officially launch the new channel and then next Friday is when we'll begin to bring in you guys :). Since we've had a couple of new people arrive since last time I asked, who all is still wanting to join the group?
If you're still looking for new players, I'm still interested!
Of course we are, I just meant that more people have showed interest.
Hi Spencer, I was actually trying to nerf down the characters while still making them unique. I've played the Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Skyrim games to death, and been every race and gender combination possible in the vanilla games multiple times, so I was hoping to get to play something fresh. I'd love to try to make either of the character concepts work within your game, but if we can't come up with something that works without feeling either overpowered or underpowered, I'm happy to work up something more normal. Also, are you planning to set the campaign before, during, or after the events of the Skyrim main quest line? And are you taking the DLC events into account? Thanks!
It is set in the 200 years between Oblivion and Skyrim, and all dlc is cannon
I'm still interested Spencer!
Ah, so no dragons yet, Serana has not been revived, and Miraak is still bumming around in Apocrypha without bugging the people of Solsteim. Good to know. Next question: what is the canon of the Oblivion game? Was there another group of people similar to ours that took on the various tasks and quests required during the Oblivion Crisis, such as the Dark Brotherhood quests, the Thieves Guild Quests, the Fighter and Mage quests, the Shivering Isles Quests, and the Knights of the Nine quests? Or were most of the side quests ignored in your canon? Lastly, I have only limited experience with RPG systems, having only used Pathfinder and D&D 5e at this point. Does your system have similar mechanics, or is it wildly different? Thanks for being patient with me. I like to have as much info as possible while building a character.
Well if I may, I feel like The Knights of the Nine is sorta' a required quest since Umerial starts to destroy everything at that point.
I believe that the only one required by Skyrim canon is (potentially) the Shivering Isles DLC. And I say "potentially" because what Sheogorath says while you do his quest is rather ambiguous as to whether he is actually the same person that went through the Oblivion Crisis or not. But he does talk about it. Almost nothing else actually referenced in the Skyrim game, which is disappointing because they had such a good opportunity to emulate the Dragon Age series with each of their games, having your choices in an older game have an effect on a newer game, but completely missed it.
It also had it be cannon that their was a new Arena Champion and the Knights of the Nine is just sorta' a given.
Speaking of Dragon Age, I freaking love that world too.
Okay, so it's official, next Friday (Jan 9th) we will be having a one shot rp set in our Elder Scrolls rp time line to see how everyone meshes with the group and to get to know all of you guys. Afterwards we will invite two of you guys to join our Elder Scrolls game. We will have openings in other games though so don't fret. At the very least we'll all be able to have a fun game session and hangout with people that love the same things as us so it should be a win win for everyone involved :-).
Does that work for you guys?
Ja.
Sir Siggles, what character concept would you like to use? Remember that we already have a Orc warrior, a Breton mage, and a Khajiit rogue. That doesn't mean that you can't use one of those races, I just wanted to remind everyone lol.
Well I'd like to go with the Argonian Bard if that's alright with you Mr. S.
That would be perfect brother!
Must...resist...urge...to...enter...Hulk Hogan...mode...brother.
Funny you should say that lol....I'm watching wrestling literally right now!
That's why I assumed you added the brother bit...brother!
It's like a damn habit with me lol! I used to do it so much as a kid that I just can't stop saying it now :).
The only solution to that problem...is a fight to the DEATH!
Between me and me?
Yep. Or if you have a Vulcan First Officer. Him.
I used to have one of those but he took an arrow to the knee :(
He's dead Spencer.
God no!
Spencer, I will start with a Bosmer Ranger to make things easier for you, then we can try to make one of my other two concepts work within your game. Sound good to you?
Bosmer ranger sounds great for a starting point :-)
Ryan E. said: Spencer, I will start with a Bosmer Ranger to make things easier for you, then we can try to make one of my other two concepts work within your game. Sound good to you? Teiraz says: Bosmer fun in Wilderness! Not so much in campfire.
So I'd to get an official "roll call" for next Fridays game. If you could post your final desired character concept for us so that we can begin planning for the session :-). Please use the following format: Name: Race: Gender: Age: Concept: Thanks guys, I'm getting really excited for this to kick off!
Wait...so repost Teiraz? Name: Teiraz Four-Talons Race: Argonian Gender: Male Age: Later 30's in Imperial Years. Concept: Born on a small border town of Cyrodill, he's a slightly unhinged self proclaimed Bard who wants to share his...unique takes on Legneds to the rest of the world.
Welp, lemme just copy-paste what I did earlier.... Name: Dar'Do'Jos (But you can call him Dar) Race: Khajiit - Ohmes-Raht subrace Gender: Male Age: 26 Concept: Cynical and wisecracking. Solves problems with martial prowess and supplemental mix of magic and alchemy. Lacking in pure physical power, he has learned to utilize stealth and archery to stay safe from bad situations. In a straight fight, he relies on finesse based sword play and magic to keep himself alive, and when all else fails, alchemy in the shape of poison or smoke bombs can make for a quick escape. Considered of mediocre skill in each of these fields individually, his ability to apply them creatively keeps him alive.

Here is my character, for now: Name: Linvala Axina (Linny to friends) Race: Bosmer Gender: Female Age: 26 Concept: Linny is a talented archer, tracker, and scout, but has often found herself in trouble for being too hyperactive and impulsive. She doesn't always think before she acts, and this has landed her in more than one situation that almost killed her. She is friendly to everyone she meets, but can rarely stay in one place for any length of time, and so has few real friends, as she tends to wear out most normal people that try to keep up with her energy. She has short, fiery red hair, two silver nose rings on the outer left nostril, and sports a light tan. The only time she feels comfortable enough to slow down and relax is when she is alone with nature. --I may edit as I get familiar with the system you are using.-- **EDIT** she should end up looking a bit like this, only more cheerful: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/287/c/7/autumn_ranger_by_sirtiefling-d6qi02k.jpg
Teraiz likes this Bosmer!
One of the ways that our group keeps from getting burned out on one single game is that we have a few ongoing games running at once that we switch between every once and awhile, mostly once we finish the current storyline or "saga" in the game that we have been running. At this point in time our main game is our Elder Scrolls rp, but we're also running a post apocalyptic sandbox rp based around a city, and have a game based on the monsterhearts game system where we play supernatural creatures (such as werewolves and stuff like that) in high school that are dealing with being monsters in the normal world. You guys are welcome to show interest in joining any of these games and I would like to know what all genres or types of games that you guys would be interested in playing, or if you're solely interested in the Elder Scrolls.
I'm up for trying just about anything, but my main interest at the moment is in the Elder Scrolls game. That is where I'd like to get to know the group first, and learn if my play style is compatible with yours. Also, I am familiar enough with the world that I can just dive right in without having to have everything explained, just the character and play mechanics. On a different(ish) topic, can I have my character's eyes shift iris colors with her mood? It would be mostly uncontrolled, and only aesthetic, but I want her to be as weird and unusual as possible.
I might be interested in either the Post-Apocalyptic Sandbox or Monsterheats!

I feel the same way that for the time being we should focus on the Elder Scrolls game, and about the eye thing we can consult with the gm and I'll let you know.
Oh, I thought you were the GM, Spencer. You seemed to be speaking like one. Anyway, the eye thing is purely cosmetic, and has no bearing on anything but bluff checks (if your system even has those) and my own personal penchant for odd oddball characters. I would want the baseline color to be green, with either blue or yellow becoming more prominent depending on the emotion she is feeling. It would merely be a byproduct of a sliver of magic in her bloodline that she has virtually no talent or control over.

I GM the post apocalyptic rp, but I run the youtube channel, Google plus page, and all of the social media stuff lol so this thing is my baby :). The guy GMng the Elder Scrolls game knows his stuff though so no worries lol.
Btw do you guys have mics or Webcams?
No...sorry.
Any spots left in this gents? I'm interested, but completely unfamiliar with the systems you're using. I'm a fast learner and a lover of roleplay, though! Ask any questions you like, and you can contact me through Skype if you PM me for the username. Hope you guys have fun if it's full up. Here's my base stats: Name: Matt Age: 20 Pen & Paper Experience: D&D 3.5, 4. Pathfinder. Some science fiction homebrew. Open to anything, really.
Do you know Countersong?
