Group looking for players, FAE/Homebrew Elder Scrolls game and others. (Fridays at 7:30 pm CST, weekly)

Sir Siggles said: No...sorry. How do you game online without a mic? Matt X. said: Any spots left in this gents? I'm interested, but completely unfamiliar with the systems you're using. I'm a fast learner and a lover of roleplay, though! Ask any questions you like, and you can contact me through Skype if you PM me for the username. Hope you guys have fun if it's full up. Here's my base stats: Name: Matt Age: 20 Pen & Paper Experience: D&D 3.5, 4. Pathfinder. Some science fiction homebrew. Open to anything, really. Yeah man there's still spots, we are having a one shot session next Friday to see how everyone meshes with the group and then we'll invite two people to join us officially :). The system is super easy to learn and is very VERY rules light \ rp driven. What kind of character would you be interested in playing?
Well I mostly just use the built in typing chat...thingy.
Sir Siggles said: Well I mostly just use the built in typing chat...thingy. Oh man I'm so sorry for assuming :( but at least a mic is required for the game...I should have been specified brother I apologize.
Alright then. Sorry for boterhing everyone in this fourm.
Sir Siggles said: Alright then. Sorry for boterhing everyone in this fourm. No man nothing has been a bother, it's my fault, I just assumed....I'm sorry for wasting your time and was really looking forward to seeing your Argonian Bard in action :(.
@Sir Siggles: You can probably get a decent stereo cable mic for about 5 dollars these days. And, depending on how new your computer it, you might actually have one already built in, and not even know it. Of course, if your reluctance is due to not wanting to put your voice out there on Youtube, I totally understand. But simply not having a mic is a problem easily and inexpensively rectified.
That's true Ryan, good advice.
Lol I guess everyone went to bed. I'll talk to you all tomorrow then :-).
Just so everyone knows, I live in New England, so I am an hour ahead of CST. I am assuming that this will not be a problem, but I just wanted you to be aware in case it could be an issue.
I don't see how it could be an issue so no worries :-)
Good to hear. Tell me more about the post-apocalypse sandbox. It sounds like it could be interesting. What type of apocalypse was it? Zombie? Flood? Alien invasion? Ice age?

Ryan did you ever play the Last of Us? If so it's kind of like that type of apocalypse. There's a little bit of a zombie ish vibe to it but it's mostly focused on human survival, more specifically a town of people centered around a large hotel known as "the Tower". As far as the sandbox aspect of it, instead of creating a plot that is unfolded to the players I have created a setting in which there are depth full npc ' s and multiple plot hooks so that the players can basically do whatever it is that they want and the story is completely player driven.
I have not played The Last of Us, unfortunately. Would making an analogy to The Walking Dead also be appropriate? Later on in the show, the zombies have become more of a backdrop or background threat than anything else, with the characters often ignoring them, when they are far enough away. to focus on their own conflicts. I mean, more of the living have been killed on screen by other survivors than have been killed by zombies in the last season, or so it feels anyway.
It's kind of like that, except for the apocalypse was caused by a spore, plant based virus that infected living organisms in order to spread the infection. The "zombie like" creatures in our game survive only in nature heavy environments; the forests, mountains, parks, etc., forcing humanity to remain in the urban city environments. Slowly though, nature is taking the world back as the urban environments are becoming overgrown with trees, vines, grass, and other plants. There is no solid government due to communities being cut off from each other by nature and what have you, and in the games current time it's mostly human on human problems as some hope to rebuild and try to improve the world, while others thrive in this chaos...succumbing to the more primal and selfish desires. The game has a little bit of everything; politics, intrigue, drama, warfare, scavenging, cannibalism, cult activity, the rise of a dangerously addictive drug, and everything in between lol.
Btw guys, we should probably get together at some point before next Friday so that we can go over the system and get characters written up and all of that fun stuff :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! (to CST people at least) :P @ Spencer: Is this world human-only, or does it include all the standard D&D races?
Happy new years everyone! @Ryan, which world are you talking about?
@ Spencer: your sandbox apocalypse world.
Oh it's based around the "real" world, so it's just humanity.
Ah. Good to know. Would be interesting to see how the various D&D races would interact in that kind of setting, though.
Yeah, kind of like Shadowrun where it mixes those races with sci-fi.
@ Spencer: When were you proposing that the group meets for the preliminary meet and greet and creating the character sheets?
Either next Thursday evening, or Friday before the actual game.
Just curious but are you still looking for people? I am a fan of the elderscrolls series. Enough so that from time to time go go as far to play the first to just to remember the good old days. Will you be playing with the standard races I.E. Breton, Nord, Dunmer, etc... or the other races that are never in the game as a playable race?
There are still open slots for this coming Friday's game :-), and we are using only races that are canon in the series :-).
@ Spencer: Ok. Would it be easier for you to give all of us your Skype address or for us to give you ours?
Oh the game isn't on Skype, it's in Google Hangouts, which is better for multi person video chat and has dice rollers and other rp tools built-in :-). It's also very easy to use, all you need is a Gmail email and you're good to go.
Alright everyone, our first game is less than a week away :-). Are you getting excited lol?
How can I get in touch to make a character?
@ Spencer: Wait, video chat? I didn't realize that you were planning on video chat. I'm not saying that I don't have a webcam, but I'm not sure that my computer can handle multi-person video chatting right at the moment. It isn't particularly good even with just one on Skype. Is the video chatting a requirement as well? Or can I get by without it for now?
@John, you can post the concept for the character that you would like to play here and we can go from there :-). @Ryan, on Google Hangouts there is an option for you to turn off seeing others cameras to help with connection.
Does anyone have any questions or is there anything you guys would like to discuss?
Okay, so we are getting things ready for Fridays game and I'd like a final "roll call" if you will since there are people who haven't been active on here in days. So who all is still interested and is expecting to participate?
I might make a new thread to renew interest and because this thread has so much traffic on it that it's becomming difficult to navigate and keep up with stuff (that's why I've asked for "roll calls" and reposts of character concepts a few times). So as of this post, if you are still interested in joining our group please PM me or post on the new thread once it is up. I will provide a link here when the time comes. Thanks to everyone who has shown interest :D.
I am still most definitely interested. Here is my character description again, for reference: Name: Linvala Axina (Linny to friends) Race: Bosmer Gender: Female Age: 26 Concept: Linny is a talented archer, tracker, and scout, but has often found herself in trouble for being too hyperactive and impulsive. She doesn't always think before she acts, and this has landed her in more than one situation that almost killed her. She is friendly to everyone she meets, but can rarely stay in one place for any length of time, and so has few real friends, as she tends to wear out most normal people that try to keep up with her energy. She has short, fiery red hair, two silver nose rings on the outer left nostril, and sports a light tan. The only time she feels comfortable enough to slow down and relax is when she is alone with nature. --I may edit as I get familiar with the system you are using.-- She should end up looking a bit like this, only more cheerful: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/287/c/7/autumn_ranger_by_sirtiefling-d6qi02k.jpg
