A potentially dumb question about 4e avengers...

I guess I should preface this by pointing out that I'm a newb--I've played about two hours of D&D 4e in my whole life, and I'm just now learning how to make characters--so yeah, this is probably a dumb question. Having said that, here it is. I've learned from those Penny Arcade podcasts that avengers have an at-will ability called Overwhelming Strike, in which they hit an enemy, shift one square and pull the enemy into the square they just left. Also, I think that polearms can hit an enemy from two squares away. Does that mean, then, that an avenger with a polearm could use Overwhelming Strike to pull an enemy two squares instead of one?
Hit : 1[W] + Wisdom modifier damage. You shift 1 square and slide the target 1 square into the space you occupied. The key is that you can only slide the target 1 square.  If you cannot slide it into the space you occupied, then you slide it 1 square TOWARDS the space you occupied.  So the Polearm will still only slide 1, in that instance.  There are some great feats and magic items to improve how far you can slide creatures, though.

Oh, gotcha. And here I thought I was clever. ;-)   Of course, I'm still not sure if an avenger really even needs to be able to drag an enemy all over the map that much. It'd help if you had to pull a bad guy off a mage, or if you had to set up that bad guy to be flanked, but I guess moving him one square would work just as well for both of those cases.
