@ Torvald Player's choice, solid, 3 choices that I can think of for this magic item (Sanvar helped you identify it, and he has a matching wug shield). Torvald can switch from Shield +1 (purchased from the Agents Of Shield shop)... switch to the Bullywug Garbage-Can Lid Shield +1 (+3 Saving Throws Vs Breath Weapons). Or you can give-away the Bullywug Garbage-Shield (or sell it). Or... New Option! You can pay someone like Blacksmith or Agents Of Shield, to hammer the +3 Save from the Bullywug shield onto your personal shield. Get a shield upgrade by combining the 2 shields, for a cost.
Number three is a very interesting option! ... +3 breath save is too useful to not use. It shouldn't be too hard to find a craftsmen who can do the work whenever we get back to Portlandio.

Some of the best item identification scenes today.. some of them, accidental... Mora the Box-Rogue breaking-and-entering the Ogre Magi hut looking for Mage's own items to use against him. She finds 2 of his 3 Javelins, and hurls them at the ogre mage, piercing his brow beneath the horn. She remembers practicing throwing when she was younger, so it seems these javelins fly perfectly straight and firmly damage. (Javelins of Piercing with +6 hit and damage until broken/expended). Airen the Bullywug -- opens magical Can Of Beans, eats all the beans in 1 swallow. Takes 5d4 internal damage and dies unconscious into the negatives at -2 HP, becomes bloated and floats away in the swamp water, while the rest of the surrounding party took 14 points gaseous damage each from the aftermath.   The Can Of Beans magical item is completely expended before it was ever fully identified.   Torvald heals Airen back to life using a grudgingly prompt application of a Potion. Horukh --- pierced his tongue and installed a magical Pearl of Wisdom, so that he can remain attached to its magic for life, and glean +1 WIS going from 17 to 18 WIS after one month (in the 4th game session he plays/attends starting from today). Torvald used 2 NWP's and successfully rolled to determine the Dwarven history of a magical item, the Handy Haversack of ol' Jasper Thunderdwarf.  It was a good story, and well-identified, passing a 100's years-old magic item dwarf to dwarf, that had been hidden away in Lucius Clay's jars buried for 50 years. Mora rolling Thief Skills to skillfully learn the unfolding & refolding of a special Portable Canoe with Tackle Box and Yeti Cooler.

We can move directly to the Atrium and the Lizard King and Shaman next week. Solid , let me explain about the partial-XP award for Torvald . Since you had to leave before the battle-part started, and we did not use Torvald or put him at risk in the battle against Vessik (instead reasoning that Torvald was searching for secret passages and structural anomolies in the Lizardman colony tunnels)... But because you were present for the backstory and roleplaying part of the session start, you got the 500 session XP instead of 940.  Traditionally I have not given fractions of XP but in this case, I think this differentiation makes the most sense for the circumstances. The ones who fought bore a tough fight, they fought Vessik and another very strong Lizardman enemy ( Airen fell into negative HP and serious injury getting choked-out by an 8-foot-tall evil lizardman, but Airen was stabilized by Jaxon in the nick of time to save the Bullywug's life).

Pan Lung Dragon has a celestial assignment: She was a Guardian of Hidden Places. &nbsp; Next session (Next Monday Oct 5): Search for the Dragon's hidden lair treasure. Mora died in the fall & was brought back to life by Sanvar's quick pouring of Potion Of Greater Healing. She received a premonition that the Dragon had hidden a Scimitar +3 amongst its hidden treasure hoard. Find out next week, on Adventures In Homebrew World! Same time same channel, Challengers Of Destiny.

This is a large gain of XP particularly for an adventurer's first session ( Friar Hugo , and Whistlebell ). Congrats and welcome. The 2 new PC's got lucky and scored a strong boost of Starting XP with this, due to seeking shelter from the snow storm by going into the Cistern of the ruined Citadel. They were both essential in resolving the party's predicament, if unwittingly at first. Hans and Aepod contributed nice RolePlaying and it was fun to welcome Hans back and seeing Aepod make up a fitting character so quickly on the spot, that fit the group. Loot Distribution: Be sure to add your treasure somewhere on your character sheet tab or Bio Tab, as you like, in-game. Friar Hugo has sworn a vow of poverty, and as such is not allowed to have material possessions of great value. However, Friar Hugo thinks it would please his deity if he used any riches he obtains for the service and worship of Ilmater. If this pleases the DM as well, I would like to ask if one of the adventurers in this group would be willing to hold on to the share of treasure that goes to Hugo, since I am not even allowed to carry it with me, until it can be stored in a safe location for future usage. Basically I'm not allowed to use items worth more than 15gp, and my total personal possessions need to stay below 75gp.
I guarantee that Sigma will guard your possessions and your shares for you, after what you have done for him.&nbsp; This goes for the whole party in fact.&nbsp; He isn't a bank anyone's gonna rob.&nbsp; Along with that, Ilmater is a god that understands sufferring; he doesn't CAUSE sufferring.&nbsp; As such, Sigma's kindnesses to Hugo should be welcomed, because there is no virtue in undue sufferring.&nbsp; Hairshirsts and poverty make a priest of Ilmater more empathic towards those who suffer, but staying in the cold rain when there is shelter available is just stupid , because anyone who was sufferring would still move to shelter and warmth.&nbsp; Ilmater should understand that allowing others to do kindnesses heals them as much as it helps him, and so Ilmater ought not begrudge Hugo the assistance of his party.&nbsp; There are all kinds of treasure, and feeling appreciated by a party member buying him a new bedroll, an enchanted mace, or a hot bowl of stew with fresh bread makes good sense.&nbsp; When something is given to Hugo to help him further defeat evil and look after the wounded, Ilmater should understand that it isn't a display of wealth, it's the means to triumph. I will make a formal request here of Gold, though, as a kind of "treasure."&nbsp; After being possessed by the Spear of Gruumsh Alkarg, is it reasonable to say that Sigma has enough deep knowledge now of how orcs think that Orcs would now be a Favored Enemy for him?

Hans,&nbsp; A vow of poverty doesn't necessarily mean Hugo avoids wealth. It means he cannot keep it...All wealth must be donated to either the poor, his parish, or the greater church. Now if it's a question of his kit restrictions... Baradin&nbsp;would gladly hold onto your portion; as he is sworn by knightly tenants to support the faith and its clergy. Also, I think Larry's comments are spot on about Ilmater. He is a god that takes value in suffering but doesn't want others to endure it needlessly. Physical scourging has more in common with a flagellant vs an itinerant lay priest.

I agree with the both of you. The vow of poverty indeed leaves room for spending money on other causes, which is precisely what I intend to do. As for my personal wealth, the limits on gear come from the peasant priest kit, and I feel that kit works well for me. Complementing the priest of Ilmater, it is exactly how I imagined my character. If it serves a purpose, I might consider gear improvements, but there's also a possibility that gear is useful but not necessarily of high (market) value. For instance, a hair shirt of Ilmater gives an AC boost, but not worth much since no one will want to wear one. Needless suffering is against all Ilmater stands for, I agree :-) In truth, Hugo doesn't really feel all that comfortable carrying a lot of money, another reason to ask for the aid of a strong adventurer.

This is all approved and DM taking note. Good discussion, as well as the specific questions for Gold . The following are noted, Party members can hold on to treasures/items for Friar Hugo , as needed. Sigma can choose Orcs as a Favored Enemy (Ranger) but it will only activate once you restore Rangerhood by finally dealing with Alkarg (several possible ways including some ways on the Winter Sessions map). DM placing items in-game such as Hair Shirt of Ilmater (example).. By the way I've also placed a new Gnomish item ( Ampton / Aepod ) and a Sigma-or-Horukh desired item, for you treasure hunters and explorers.

Sigma will offer Hugo the Fiery Yellow Corundum (1000 gp) for the Gold bracelet set with gems to wear on one of his horns, as a declaration of wealth.&nbsp; This can help with intimidation (as in real world history, do NOT attack the mercenary wearing Coin Armor.&nbsp; Coin Armor was scale male literally made from money they'd made being bad-ass).

Sword is "+2 Vs. magic using creatures" which I will qualify as any who casts a magic spell or even a spell-like effect unless it is specifically a non-magic innate ability. It would be +2 against any mages, sorcerer, witch, bard, ... but also many dragons,&nbsp; sprites (quicklings, kelpies, leprechaun),&nbsp; mind flayer,&nbsp; beholder,&nbsp; sphynx,&nbsp; ogre magi,&nbsp; naga...&nbsp; probably more. It's just regular +1 against clerical, or bender, or planar, or celestial / fiendish (spirit world, astral travelers), or innate-ability monsters, though. Good session today and congrats on the level up!

And, of course, a Behemoth Corpse which is, well, no small thing.&nbsp; With the giants' help it can be taken to Portlandio, save a lot of lives, and become the stuff of legend.&nbsp; I don't have to go into the details of butchery because it might squick some people, but that body is rich with resources to protect the city. Hmm, I just noticed, reinforced club +2.&nbsp; As a Ranger, Sigma can fight two-handed... maul + club? Gold, I'd like to ask for a circumstantial "treasure" based upon what happened to Sigma with Alkarg.&nbsp; I would like for Sigma to now have deep insights with Orcs and others or Gruumsh's followers.&nbsp; But specifically, read/speak Orcish, know Orcish mindset and treat them as a Favored Enemy.&nbsp; His mind got invaded and controlled by The Orcish Everything, in a way, but what if the knowledge stuck?
