LFG: Tulsa Gaming Fossil Celeb Seeks Longterm Fantasy RPG (PF, Evening Hours)

Hello everyone, Larry Dixon here. The website www.gryphonking.com has a bunch of info on me, despite being around 8 years out of date... I've worked on The Hobbit films since then, & have around 60 more pieces to put up. I live a bit northeast of Tulsa, with a good field for falconry, a bunch of interesting birds, hot rods, and a studio where I help out on all sorts of projects 'round the world. Right now I'm a creature designer for Disney among other things. I've been a tabletop gamer since the 1970s, and was Guest of Honor at Gen Con a few years back. It's quite strange to see how the industry grew. Wondrous, too. My trouble is that there I have no local gamers. It makes me a sad gryphon. Game table's waiting, thousands of miniatures are on deck, the BBQ's waiting & the fridge is full, but no dice are bouncing. Ideally I'd find a group of skilled actors, middle aged maybe, with warm hearts and sharp minds who'd like to game one or two times a week. For better or worse, I play like a novelist, meaning I get quite into character motive & setting. I never have adversarial relationships with anyone in a group, and especially not the GM. A GM has enough to handle already running a world & everyone in it. :)
Hi Larry, I think many of us here have felt your same frustrations with local gaming and the decrease in player base in our areas. I don't know that I am a GM up to your standards and pedigree. With that said, I would like to offer you a spot at the table in a game that I run. One of the things the players like best about it is that you can play anytime...there are 13 other players currently from around the world. Someone is online at most times. The players are merchants in a town. Much of the minimal die rolling takes place in a forum, where people also chat it up and talk via text and voice. You can however meet with others in the group in the Campaign at any time, or in a place of your choosing to discuss Council business. Your characters are also important members of the ruling Council of the city/Kingdom, and as such make decisions about how the kingdoms resources are channeled and grown. On Saturday mornings another group of ~7 PC's meet and play a more traditional Pathfinder game. I don't know that you would find this group interesting. Many of them are new and I am still taking them through the stages from power gamer to RPer...although of course some are fantastic gamers. So all in all about 20 people with whom you can interact. Interested in checking into it? Perhaps talk with some of the others and see if you like them.

Larry, you're looking in D&D 3.5 and up? Would you consider AD&D 2nd? I would write you a pitch to consider joining my long-term saga AD&D 2E campaign as a Player, PC (Tuesday afternoon to evening Central Time USA). Your background is awesome and your gaming-style interest would be a great fit for our campaign goals. The party is around Level 3 right now and we started playing a few months ago. We happen to have an opening, best filled by a Druid or Speciality Priest (priest of a specific deity), though other classes would be open too. It's very AD&D 2E though. I love the 2nd edition. It's missing a lot of features that appear in 3.5/Pathfinder, although we did adopt a few rules from though, like Ascending AC, and any species(race) can play as any class. Send me a message if it sparks interest for you.
Did I say celeb? I meant cenobite. ( hands you a cube ) Here, hold this for me.
I sure do appreciate the hospitality. Now, just because I come from The Past doesn't mean I am necessarily any good, nor that I remember an awful lot, but I like to think I do all right. I appreciate the faith in me.
