Actually? Could we use the fact that there might be bystanders and put them to work in the caravan? That way we could have muscle for the big fights but be less people for the RP?

I will allow it but be aware that Kodos gains a full XP share and so lessens your rewards...........

My mercs also drain their portion of XP I believe.

Those were hirelings..................different rules, because Hirelings are extremely unreliable.

Seems we are doomed to go alone or lose out on exp; I vote 7 and no NPCs.

In game terms bringing extra people along always costs you something for reasons of game balance. Hirelings cost you gold and NPCs/retainers cost you XP. Otherwise you could just bring a horde of NPCs and walk every mission with no tradeoff................

I'll save my mercs for the inevitable food shortage mission to Bale's then.

How much are scrolls with spells on them?

Mercenaries, hirelings, NPC heroes... if we need to go to these lengths are you really sure it's a good idea to go? :p
