[LFP] Pathfinder Homebrew Weekly [Wed 7pm EST]

Hello all! I am looking to host a Pathfinder game on Wednesday nights EST. The time for the game is a bit flexible. Now for the fun stuff... I have been a DM for Pathfinder & 3.5 for 3 or so years now. I have another group running through this campaign who is two/three sessions ahead. The game is a mix of both sandbox and linear elements and takes place in multiple novel and traditional settings. For this game I have put a lot of focus into creating many elements of the game and look forward to having the players partake in that. I hand draw the maps and some of the assets for the game. I am no Picasso but I do try. With that said the game employs quite a bit of the theater of the mind approach to help paint an image of whats happening. The game is planned for the long term and has enough substance to last from 1-20 and will be covering elements of sci-fi, modern, and traditional fantasy. The game utilizes a relatively different approach to character creation. I have created a system in which a player rolls to provide multiple random factors/qualities which is then used to generate a character. It will make much more sense in game. Essentially what the engine does is provide a player with multiple interesting randomized traits to weave into a cohesive image. With that said you will still be picking your class at the end of the day (so no worries their). The game also utilizes a 15 point buy. In regards to what kind of players would best be suited for this game, I would imagine that the game will provide elements which can be enjoyed by people who focus on roleplay, combat, or a balance of the two. As a DM, I do not really hold much patience for people who intentionally min/max (and leave the rest of the party to suffer the balance change). To that effect I have tried to create this game to truly allow for the player to enjoy their character level by level as opposed to sitting there bored until you hit the late game. I also want to emphasize that I try to utilize many of the systems within Pathfinder such as crafting, travel, survival etc. I am looking to recruit a party of players from all experience levels so do not be afraid to apply! If you are interested in the game reply to the post and answer a few of the following questions I will get back to you and provide more info on the game. Who are you? What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? How long have you played Pathfinder? One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game.
Who are you? A simple man with a refined taste. What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? No restrictions on what you can or cannot do and memorable one liners. How long have you played Pathfinder? Since release. One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game. One trick ponies.

Who are you? I am 33, and I have a full time job and a full time family. I do enjoy my free time though so if I can make myself available at the right time I would love to join in. What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? My character started as a rogue hellbent on revenge, scouring the world for the man responsible for the murder of his parents. Some time during the search an ancient evil bieng began to make its move to control the world, and my revenge seeking rogue began to change. The first big step for him was a difficult one. He was forced to take the lives of innocents for the greater good. A brain parasite had inhabited these poor people and would eventually take their body over and multiply into more brain parasites eventually contaminating the entire city or possibly the world. These innocent people were deceived into a cave outside of town and trapped inside by the party and their allies. As my character looked around the room he realized no one was going to do what had to be done. So he took the burden on himself. He quickly pulled his rapiers and dispatched each of them. Their screams and pleas would remain in his mind for the rest of his life. At this point, he became the parties uncontested leader. The next step in his evolution came when one of his allies was poisoned by the enemy. The only remedy was far away and the time was not on the parties side. A choice had to be made, sacrifice the ally or split up and try to do two things at once. He chose to split up in an effort to save his ally and dear friend. The venture proved successful mostly. A few soldiers died, his left arm was badly injured, another ally lost half of a leg, and yet another lost his bottom jaw. It was then when he realized his choices affected more than just his close friends and allies. With no were to turn and no way to deal with a massive enemy army that could not be killed he began is final transformation. For the first time in his life he walked into a temple and prayed and prayed and prayed. He refused to stop praying until one of these gods answered him. At last he was answered and became a rogue paladin. His new god gave him the task to touch this being so that he may "know him". All of his friends and allies knew this was a death sentence, and so did he. However, for the good of the world he was willing to sacrifice his life. After some tracking and traveling he found himself in a clearing in a large forest with this evil being headed straight for him. He kneeled in the grass as his party waited in the tree tops. The evil being came into the clearing and presented his hand freely. The now rogue paladin rose to his feet walked over and grabbed the hand. The evil being said thank you and retreated. His mission complete he fashioned an altar out of wood and began to pray to his god. An answer came. There was not much time. This rogue would have to become the gods avatar. He doubted himself. He asked is there not another? There was no one else that could make it in time.. So he agreed even with doubt in his heart. The transformation began and failed. It began again and failed. The god said "We may only try once more. If it fails this time... you will die." The rogue thought for a moment. He thought about his party in the trees. He thought about their close allies. He thought about those poor people he had to slaughter. He thought about all the people that would die if he failed. And with that he answered "We must try" This time transformation succeeded. However, his left arm was devoured by holy light. Upon the return to the city something was truly different. He could now sense the enemy. They could no longer hide from him. Whats more he could defeat them. With a mere touch he could stop them. He received a replacement magical arm. It wasnt as good as the original, but it functioned. Now with a way to defeat them the armies prepared to clash. The one armed paladin became a beacon of hope. Just before the fighting started a lone figure walked from the enemies line up close within plain sight and removed his helmet. It was the man that had murdered his parents. One last sacrifice was made. Instead of charging after this man he held his ground. He shouted to what was now his army "The enemy taunts me with my personal score, but I will stand fast. I count on each and every one of you to bring us victory this day. So my friends let the enemy know we are ready and waiting for them." With that his army began to shout and cheer, and then the true fighting began. The battle was one that day, but there was still one fight left. The evil being had to be destroyed. The party enlisted their most powerful ally for this final battle. They embarked and fought the evil. Near the end of the fight the one armed rogue paladin was on the verge of death. He backed up behind his ally and drank a health potion, and died. The ally the party had enlisted to help fight the evil did just that, and when he saw the day was won he killed the one armed rogue paladin with and attack of opportunity. The party finished off the evil without knowing what their ally had done. The enlisted ally became the hero, and the true hero died by his hand. How long have you played Pathfinder? 3 years or so One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game. Infighting.
Who are you? I am a 20 year old gamer, who is looking for a Pathfinder game to join, rp with, and have fun with. I have experienced Warhammer 40K [Rogue Trader, Black Crusade, Deathwatch, Dark Heresy, and Only War], D&D 5th Ed, D&D 2nd Ed, and a tiny bit of GURPS. What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? As far as experiences go with Tabletop games, my personal favorites are when I run games related to Warhammer 40K or a few custom worlds in D&D in which I tend to have a lot of fun with. Now, in terms of the most favorite, I wouldn't be able to say, since I love a lot of my games that I personally run, and when I am the player, I don't normally take up a face man thing, though I do try. How long have you played Pathfinder? I have only played a few games, and I really love the system, though playing more games would hopefully help learn the ropes more easily. One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game. Infighting OOCly, and Power Gamers [At least the ones who do not know the meaning of "Have fun and don't go overboard". :T Trust me I have encountered it about 3 times, one of them nearly killing my love for 40K TT.]
Who are you? I am a 29 year old software developer, I've been trying to get involved in role playing again recently (as the group I used to play with has all moved away to other parts of the country). All things considered I figured I'd have better luck finding a game online, than in person. What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? I would have to say one of my favorite experiences wasnt actually playing it, but every Wednesday night as a kid getting to read my friends traveller books and learning about the lore/history. I really love scifi, but fantasy is my second favorite. How long have you played Pathfinder? I have done a few sessions, and even GMed a few, but considering I was usually the GM, I'd perfer to actually play this time around :) One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game. Chaotic Neutral Rogue. I'm a team player and like to play with other team players (I'd actually very much like to play an oracle if there is room for one :) )
If you are interested in the game reply to the post and answer a few of the following questions I will get back to you and provide more info on the game. Who are you? I am a 26 year old welder and furry. I riding my motorcycle and going fursuiting. I have experience in 3.0,3.5,VtM and Pathfinder. I try to build my PC around what the party needs or what the party is lacking. What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? One of my best experiences with pathfinder was when a homebrew cursed item changed my pyro mage from C.N to C.E as he was staring at an orphanage and then processed to blow it up. He then ran from the guards, after the item changed him back to C.N, screaming "IT WAS SELF DEFENSE! IT ATTACKED ME FIRST!" How long have you played Pathfinder? 5-7 years One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game. Infighting. I really hate it when a party member goes out of their way to screw over another or threatens another with their PC's death if they dont do something that the player wants.
We still have room for a few players if anyone else is interested :)!

Who are you? A guy with a good heart and crazy ideas! I am 23, from the US and gaming has been in my blood for so long! What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? In a homebrew my friends made, and with some serious luck of the roll and theatre of the mind, DM magic ... and mythic levels, I sunk my Great-axe into a mountain side with such force that it destroyed an entire mountain range, just so i could state my dominance in the group. lol BUT in all i enjoy the story, we the characters make as we adventure, ya know the tales of old never started with a Level 20 one-shot! How long have you played Pathfinder? roughly 2.5-3 years now. One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game. Broken/over-used classes
Who are you? Someone with lots of experience in D&D 1,2,3, & 3.5 who is looking for a PF game to play What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? Well... long story short me and the party brought in explosives to a temple of a god we particularly weren't fond of and we maaaaaaaaaaaaay have sort of accidentally lit said explosive then ran for our lives for a Michael-Bay-esque-jumping-away-from-an-explosion-at-the-end jump away from the temple as it exploded and pissed off the god we were after. Ironically enough said god couldn't touch us because the temple we destroyed ruined his influence in the region so we were safe. Good times How long have you played Pathfinder? A few sessions here and there. I've been looking to get more into it, but since the rules aren't too different from 3.5 it shouldn't take me long to pick up on the nuances of PF. One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game. Party interaction that isn't just "play to your alignments" restrained but more "play to your character" encouraged
Hi dudes, Sorry to bump the topic, but from the sound of things, I just barely arrived in time to the party. So, I know that a lot of people don't take much time on their bio, but I went ahead and posted personal essentials there, so you may want to have a look. https://app.roll20.net/users/687722/matt-c That said, here are my answers to the questionnaire. Who are you? I'm a moderate Christian Republican of what D&D would consider the "Neutral Good" alignment. Yeah, yeah, I just brought politics and religion into the mix, I know. Don't worry, I'm not pushy about it. I just figured it said more about me than most other things I could've mentioned. What is one of your favorite experiences with tabletop games? This will sound juvenile, and it is, but when I was a teenager, we had a laidback DM who rolled with the suggestions of his group. Like, when he announced that a horde of zombies was approaching, and someone mentioned they were Justin Bieber fangirls, he went with it. I'm still hoping my DM will adhere to the rules now, but there was a definite sense of joy in sharing that particular adventure. How long have you played Pathfinder? One and a half campaigns; 72 hours as I write this. I'm still just barely in the basics (for instance, I haven't learned how to utilize "trip," or "charge," or various combat maneuvers yet). One thing you would not enjoy seeing in your next D&D Game. I'd REALLY like to avoid combat that goes "Your turn . . . you missed. Your turn . . . you missed. Your turn . . ." My last DM's designs had our characters constantly missing.
