As requested, I have created a guide for crafting in the Crafting folder. This is what is covered... 1. Select the Appropriate Magic Item Determine the spell effect(s) that you are replicating and find the magic items that are capable or replicating those effects. Magic Item Spell Effects Allowed Armor +1, +2, or +3 to AC Potions 3rd level spell or lower that targets one or more willing creatures Rings with charges Any spell that has a casting time of 1 action and targets self, one or more creatures, or an area Rings with unlimited use Any spell that can be cast as a reaction with a duration of 1 minute or longer OR any spell with a range of touch with a duration of 1 hour or longer Runes Any spell that targets self or one creature or object by touch or melee attack Scrolls Any spell Wands Any spell of 4th level or lower Weapons +1, +2, or +3 to attack and damage and deals magic damage 2. Determine Which of Those Magic Items You Prefer Of the magic items that are capable of producing the desired effects, select the one that has the most desirable activation. Magic Item Activation Armor Ongoing effect Potions 1 action to drink or administer to someone else Rings with charges Activation is the same as the spell effect Rings with unlimited use Either ongoing or 1 action to turn on/off Runes 1 action to touch the rune or free as part of a melee attack Scrolls 1 action to read the scroll Wands 1 action to expend one or more charges Weapons Ongoing effect 3. Determine Material Cost, Time to Craft, Craft DC, and Market Value Now that you have figured out which kind of magic item you are creating, use the associated handout to calculate how much you must spend on materials, how much downtime it will take you to craft the item, the DC you must achieve to complete the time, and the market value of the item upon completion. Hopefully that makes it a bit easier when trying to figure out which magic item would work best for your project. Let me know if there are any other details that would help clarify things.
