" He gives a friendly nod " Sleep well. " Fearfacer walks back to camp, leaving Nala  to sleep.
Location: Just outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Morning/Middle of Zoth's test of faith Who: Fearfacer and Lupin (and any listening party members) As Zoth stepped into the fire, Lupin noticed Fearfacer begin to tense up. No! No interference. If this works, then all the better. If he burns, we approach at night. Lupin briefly focused and his vision shifted to the eyes of his familiar. The weasel was looking at a building with several guards at the entrance. At least we know where they are keeping the hostages now. Lupin stepped forward and placed a calming hand on Fearfacer's shoulder. Peace. He asked to do this.

Location: Just outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Morning/Middle of Zoth's test of faith Who: Hendrick, overhearing Lupin and Fearfacer Hendricks stare was focused on this trial of "faith" Zoth was putting himself through. He observed everything with cold precision. No ever so minute movement or expression was allowed to go by unnoticed and undocumented for the final indictment. Whether this will be completed before or after the final judgement, only the flame could know. Peace. He asked to do this. Lupin's voice sounded emotionless, but Hendrick felt he had learned some of the intricacies of said creature's ways and means of communication. A fascinating beast, brought to live by some kind of magical power. In the older days, that could have been enough, but times have changed. At least that is what the flame required. For now. He turned around for a brief moment, unwilling to miss any of Zoth's heresies. The face of Fearfacer showed everything that needed to be known at a glance. Anger, rage, complete lack of self-control. He could be a useful tool for the future, maybe even an ally. Hendrick turned his gaze back onto Zoth, disappointed he might have missed some of the crimes, Zoth will eventually be judged upon. This could get interesting he whispered, whilst lighting his pipe, his stare fixated on this abomination of a spectacle.
Location: Campsite outside of Taer Valaestas Date/Time: Late Afternoon Who: Jeezargo, Lupin, Nala, ??? (Blue) and Fearfacer As Nala begins speaking about the source of her knowledge a small whisper begins to grow in the back of her mind...faint enough that Nala is completely unaware. Eventually it begins to grow louder and louder until Nala feels the need to check on her book. The pages had been blank ever since she had finished it before and she honestly thought she was done with the whole matter....And yet there were new words. They weren't many, though the fact the lettering for most of them almost seemed to swim on the pages making them impossible to read gave the impression these few words would be as changing to her as the whole book had once been. As it was, only a couple of sentences could be read. "The first truth my dear Nala, is that death is a mere figment of imagination. No one truly dies. In fact, It is the one lie the world itself convinces of itself. The moment you realize this fact, you'll find that you'll completely.....forget about death entirely."  The moment Nala finishes reading this part of the page something washes over her. Everyone she once knew and cared for that died....Either stopped existing in her mind or she realized that they never really died. They instead parted ways with Nala and went on to live different lives. This thought made Nala very happy as a lot of grief in her life vanishes in an instant.
Location: Campsite outside of Taer Valaestas Date/Time: Late Afternoon Who: The Party , Zoth , Tak-Tha , and The Book of Unspeakable Shame Nala was careful not to let her companions see The Book - it was a garish thing that reeked of dust and blood, and the green and black leather with strange runes carved all around it gave off a particularly macabre air. When she felt the need to check it, she politely excused herself under the guise of going to relieve herself, and she walked far out of eyesight, making sure to keep watch on everyone for as long as possible - especially Jeezargo and the weasel. When she found some peace in the towering trees and dense forest that surrounded their little clearing, she cast invisibility on herself as a final effort to remain completely unseen. Only then did she carefully remove The Book from her satchel and open it up. Nala's relationship with The Book had been a strange one. Unpleasant, but also beneficial to her. She swore she could have felt her brain opening up and allowing knowledge to pour in. She remembered almost everything she read. Her memory had become nearly photographic. She took notes while she read through The Book, but as it turns out, the notes were unnecessary. But even if she had needed them, something always seemed to happen to them - something would spill and smudge the ink into a black mass, a gust of wind would send the papers off the table and straight into a fire - things went on like that for a while, until Nala realized that perhaps the knowledge she was gaining was not meant to be accessible to just anyone. Still, as she found herself in the woods, an eerie silence creeping over the shaded area, she took out her journal, as if she knew what was coming. But only a small chunk of text was readable, and as she processed, she had the strangest feeling that nothing would allow her to forget the words, even if she wanted to. When Nala found the clearing once more, after a suspicious amount of time had passed, she was in an almost dreamy state, and she was clearly much happier and more relaxed than she had been before. As she sat down and joined her compatriots, she was genuine in her next few words: "I think your plan is a wonderful idea, Zoth ! And don't worry, we'll make sure to wake you up should anything go wrong." She gave Zoth a big smile; one of confidence, of assurance.
Location: Campsite outside of Taer Valaestas Date/Time: Late Afternoon Who: The Party, Zoth, Tak-Tha,and The Book of Unspeakable Shame Lupin glanced over at Nala as she reentered the campsite and made her confident declaration. Wake him up? What is she going on about? Why are we revisiting the plan yet again? "I though we had already sorted out the plan for the morning,"  Lupin said to Nala in a tired voice. "What makes you bring this up yet again?"     Lupin turned back to his book, but his attention was now divided between the book and his companions.

I think this plan is great! Little danger, great reward if it goes as expected. Anyway, I'll let you sleep." Nala said with a smile, and then she laid out her bedroll and prepared for a night of rest.

Location: Campsite outside of Taer Valaestas Date/Time: Late Afternoon Who: The Party, Zoth, and Tak-Tha Lupin took a short moment to evaluate Nala.  He rolled his eyes and gave a sigh. I don't sleep. Has no one realized that by now? Lupin focused his attention back fully on his reading once again. Perhaps it's just fatigue fogging the mind.
Location: Campsite outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Evening Who: The Party, Zoth, and Tak-Tha Having scouted Shoonti Village and decided an approach in daylight was less likely lead to a bloodbath, Hendrick had some time sizing up his newfound companions at the campfire over tea. He was rather looking forward to the opportunity, but the chance encounter of Zoth and his companion threw a major wrench into this. He had caught and questioned many heretics in his time, but usually they were in it for their own gain. Zoth was different, it felt like he had a genuine cause, in a way only the flame could lay it out before a soul. If anything, that made him even more dangerous. Hendrick caught himself thinking unthinkable thoughts and quickly focused his attention away to his newfound companions, still upset about letting such thoughts resurface. Nala was a remarkable individual. She irradiated an aura of pure intellect, but something was off in the way she interacted. It seemed like Lupin might have found an interesting person to share knowledge with, judging by the books both were carrying. And appereantly talking to each other about. Fearfacer on the other hand, the way he walked and his body held itself up high, honor and a strong sense of tradition. Hendrick noticed peculiar ways of interacting, but always adhering to some caught likely brought down through the generations, something he immediately approved of. Jeezargo on the other hand, Hendrick just could not quite make sense. He had heard of those lizard creatures. People have called them monsters, some slightly more informed individuals commented on their tribal nature and there cold but efficient attitude towards life. Maybe this is something, we all could learn from. Hendrick approached Jeezargo. "Hey, we havent had much time yet to introduce ourselves. Jeezargo, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Hendrick reached out his hand waiting for a response. "A marvelous name! Does it have any meaning in your language, I might not be aware of?" Genuine fascination for this creature was shown all over Hendricks face. "You have told me about a great quest, of slaying a dragon of sorts, in order to bring vengeance and peace to your lands. I find that combination rather intriguing. How do you plan on going about that?"
Location: Campsite outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Evening Who: The Party, Zoth, and Tak-Tha Shaking the offered hand "A pleasure as well. The name has no special meaning to it other then that it is mine. You are interested in Lizardfolk culture? That's surprising given the two scholars over there haven't even blinked." Gestures towards "Rachael" and Lupin. "Yes my quest is to slay Rhashaak, the powerful and evil black dragon who is worshipped by the other two dominate tribes of Lizardfolk the worst being the BlaxkScales. I left my home to gather strong allies and to better myself with the hopes of returning. I'm hoping by succeeding with this mission, perhaps I can begin to garner trust with the military. What of you? What brought you here with this group?"
Location: Campsite outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Evening Who: The Party, Zoth, and Tak-Tha Hendrick nods in approval after the hand-shake. A formal bond of friendship has been formed. He takes a closer look at this creature before him. The words are spoken in a slightly coarse voice, but it looks as if a lot of care is taken for every specific sound. The scales have a light shimmer in the light of the campfire, but the other side is barely visible in the darkness of the night.  You are interested in Lizardfolk culture? That's surprising given the two scholars over there haven't even blinked. "Well, yes. Please, do not take offense. I might not be as intelligent as either of those two, but I have seen their type before. They often look for knowledge, often long lost and gone, under the impression that things close-by are not as worthy of study or contemplation. If confronted by that, I for one have not come across a satisfying answer. Regardless, I have only heard little of the lizardfolk, but I believe you cannot speak for all of them. And will maybe not even be able to, as things I would find interesting and peculiar, you might not even think of telling, so normal and certain are they for you. Tell me about yourself! Why for instance do you travel with a lizard friend, who, without any offense intended, seems less capable or even sentient than you?" I'm hoping by succeeding with this mission, perhaps I can begin to garner trust with the military. "The military. Yes, that would be a great help. But without knowing your circumstances any closer, this war might make it very difficult even for people of high influence to bring the military into less world-threatening affairs. But I believe a task of this kind is a noble one. And who knows, you have a certain dedication in your eyes, something truly remarkable." What of you? What brought you here with this group?" "Of me? Oh, I am a humble servant of the divine. I am traveling these lands to bring good to this world in this time of need and despair. This war has destroyed countless lives and for what? Power? Greed? I am only one man, but I believe how ever small my contribution to this cause might be, the world will be a little better for it."
Location: Campsite outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Evening Who: The Party, Zoth, and Tak-Tha  Why do you travel with a lizard friend? "it's a question I've rarely been asked." Jeezargo pauses, closing his eyes and resting his head in a hand, absently petting Eurgo. After a few moments he looks up and says  "I have a great appreciation for nature and it's creatures. I would often spend all day roaming the jungle around my home. I wasn't a very social even among my kind. I did however, find kinship with the creatures that lived nearby. I saved Eurgo here, after finding him under an overturned tree as a small lizard, wounded by some creature. He is a beast unlike I but he has his own intelligence I assure you" Eurgo looks up into Hendricks eyes, a look of sleepy contentment pierced with curiosity. "I never imagined he would grow this large though" a short chuckle that sounds like raspy hissing escapes Jeezargos lips. ...you have a certain look of dedication to your eyes... " I am unfamiliar with this war and it's politics as my people have not taken part. Perhaps you could enlighten me sometime. Would you know of those who would be interested in joining my cause? An earnest, searching look covers Jeezargos face as he looks into Hendricks eyes. I am traveling these lands... "It seems we share something in common and perhaps your goals and mine align. Surely you know of the great evil that taints a land when a black dragon makes his home there? But I digress I'm sure you have many stories and perhaps other quest that occupy you. Have you seen any other great evils in this land?"
Location: Campsite outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Evening Who: The Party, Zoth, and Tak-Tha .. I never imagined he would grow this large though "Yes, he does look marvelous, if a little big." Hendrick could only agree with his companion with a smile on his face. "So Eurgo is your name. Maybe I have underestimated you!" He quickly rummaged through his bag to yield a nice bit of dried meat and attempted to feed this peculiar beast. "Yes, true friendship is not easy to come by. Sometimes one has to look further even than his own kind." He looked at the unlike but somehow made for each other pair of Lizards with a satisfied smirk on his face. "I congratulate you." ..Would you know of those who would be interested in joining my cause?.. Hendrick listened with an earnest expression. "War and politics, are but the same thing. They are games every one has to live with, but only few truly play. Most of us are just pawns, in a never ending cycle of death and despair. As to who would be willing to help your cause  I do not fully know." Hendrick had a brief think about why anyone would want to help Jeezargo and his tribe. "Politics could be a way to try to help your folk, maybe by offering support in the war efforts as payment. But from what I have seen, contracts and alliances only get forged to be broken at a more opportune time in this day and age." Visible sweat and horror forms on Hendricks face, after he holds still for a moment, deeply lost in thoughts. After shaking himself out of it, he quickly added "However you choose to go about this, I strongly encourage you to be careful and watch your back." .. Have you seen any other great evils in this land? "Look around you, Jeezargo. Look inside you. Great evil is never far. I have come from a darker past, but found my calling in the divine. Tonight we are camping here in order to bring a man to justice, who abuses the divine power, no, let me re-phrase that, the faith of the common folk of these lands for what exactly? Status? Power? Wherever you look, evil follows us closely. And I will rid the world of it. One perversion of the divine will at a time." Hendrick got visible agitated at spelling his quest out like that, his eyes piercing and determined. Suddenly, he switched back into his calm voice and his friendly, inviting face. "I am glad you have found such a noble quest for you and your friend. If great evil plagues the land, I would be more than willing to support you on your journey to a better world for your people." Hendrick loaded his pipe in calm, but very precise and studied movements, before lighting it and inspecting Eurgo further from a distance. The repetitive nature of preparing the pipe, followed by smoking it always helped to calm him down. So did thinking about other things. I wonder whether he will get even bigger.

Thank you, he has followed me for sometime now and has proven even better at stealth then I at times." Jeezargo smiles contently. ...watch your back. " I appreciate the advice. Perhaps you could help introduce me and help get me started? It seems you may know some people I could trust as well as some villains of who not to trust. Jeezargo has a calm if somewhat pleading look as he asks, somewhat out of his area of knowledge. ...better world for your people. "You make a wise point. I also greatly appreciate your support. All will be needed when the final battle comes." A solemn look over takes Jeezargo. "I hope to help you as well. I imagine you've supported many noble causes. I can also appreciate that fine scale armor of yours. It is most wise to copy strong scales that my people have.

Location: Campsite outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Evening Who: The Party, Zoth, and Tak-Tha Thank you, he has followed me for sometime now and has proven even better at stealth then I at times. "Remarkable I have to say. Having witnessed only a brief display of your tracking and scouting abilities, I am still impressed by the way you are working as a seamless team. This is a talent not easy to aquire. Say, how does it feel? I have worked with many people in my time. But it appears like your trust is something I have only experienced towards the divine, but not with another creature or person. I must be soothing, yet exhilarating to completely trust like this." It seems you may know some people I could trust as well as some villains of who not to trust. Hendrick contemplated these words for a moment. "Me personally, I have barely been a player. I might not be a pawn, but I do not think I have surpassed the influence of a bishop yet." Hendrick briefly considers, whether the analogy might be something Jeezargo was able to pick up on. He continues with this metaphor regardless. "Maybe we can help your cause, but I do not possess much if any influence. Maybe some of the other companions have more powerful friends." He looks at the space between Jeezargo and Eurgo as if there was a visible connection of some kind. "Each on our own might not be able to move enough in this world, but combining our resources, we might be able to even threaten a piece as powerful as  Rhashaak. Maybe these people are the once you should start with." He pointed at the other members of the party, but neither at Zoth nor Tak-Tha. I can also appreciate that fine scale armor of yours. It is most wise to copy strong scales that my people have. Hendrick chuckles. "Yes, indeed. There is still much we can to learn from each other. For when the time comes, every so little advantage can tip the scale." Just as he had finished the sentence Hendrick notices the horrible pun. I hope this will go by unnoticed. How is anyone take me seriously if I keep saying stuff like that..   "I think it is time to leave you to your preparations for the morning. I have a feeling, tomorrow might not go quite as we expect."  A hint of a vicious smirk showed briefly on Hendrick's face, before being buried under the standard calm and friendly expression.

Location: Campsite outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Evening Who: The Party, Zoth, and Tak-Tha "It is a relationship unlike any I've ever had in my time. I hope you can find another who makes you feel the same." A warm smile covers Jeezargo, warm for a reptile anyway. ones you should start with. "Rachael has agreed to help once she's had a chance to see the evil of Rhashaak for herself. Lupin has also agreed to help. I have not yet spoken privately with Fearfarcer. So far, none have been as helpful as you. tip the scale.  A quick nasally snort is heard before Jeezargo says "Your pun is terrible but funny none the less."  ...wicked grin... Jeezargo pauses a moment weighing his options. Deciding to make a bold move he says " Yes I will bid you a good night but a final word before you go. Jeezargo gestures for him to come closer and says very quietly, "Should you have...alternative plans tommorow, I just want you to know, I always help a good friend..." A small sly grin appears on Jeezargo's face before quickly switching to a friendly one. Now in a normal volume "Right Sir Hendrick, let us both sleep for tomorrows events." Jeezargo lays down, using Eurgo as a pillow and readies himself for sleep, storing his weapons in his fur blankets with him.
Location: Campsite outside of Taer Valaestas Date/Time: Late Afternoon Who: Nala and Hendrick Nala waited until Hendrick was alone and approached him. She sat down and looked off into the woods for a moment, appreciating the stillness and serene quality of the trees and the night. "My name is not Rachel. Nor is it Blastrunner , though that one was given to me, so I will accept it. It's Nala . I lied to Jeezargo when he first approached me, because I believed him to be an associate of an enemy of mine. Now I know that I was wrong, but I've found myself in an awkward situation." Nala chuckles slightly at this, thinking to herself that simple social conventions are such an insignificant worry in the grand scheme of things. A pregnant pause followed. "My father - I remember him well, and fondly. He was a very religious man. Not quite like you or Zoth ; he was quiet in his devotion. I remember him leaving to convene with other leaders of the faith to discuss politics, but aside from when I showed curiosity, that's really the only time I knew of that he talked to others about his beliefs. In my adulthood, I have found that I envy him for his devotion. I am alone in my worries, unaffected by the whims of the gods above. I imagine that there is much comfort in believing that the gods have some sort of divine will, or that they will make sure everything is okay in the end." Nala looks down, a strange sadness apparent in her reptilian eyes.  "Anyway, I really only came over here to clear up the matter of my name. I suppose it is rude of me to discuss religious matters to you without having properly made your acquaintance." Nala's tone became much lighter, and she threw up the protective walls that she so desperately relied on. She stuck out a clawed hand in a friendly gesture. "I'm glad to have you along. You seem like an interesting man, to say the least."

**Insert for Jeezargo's remark** Location: Campsite outside   of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Late Afternoon Who: Jeezargo  and Hendrick Your pun is terrible but funny none the less. Hendrick tried to avoid any eye contact. All he could feel was the embarrassment raising up into his face, accompanied by an unusual red skin tone under his ginger beard, and a burning sensation, that was lucky to not set his beard on fire. He decided to ignore the remark on his comedic talent and hoped for Jeezargo to continue conversation, no matter how long the awkward silence would be.   Should you have...alternative plans tomorrow, I just want you to know, I always help a good friend.. Hendrick contemplated the carefully phrased words of his new-found friend.   He whispered, his face looking more sincere than Jeezargo had ever seen before.  "I applaud your instincts. I wouldn't say I have alternative plans as of yet, but it is good to know I can count on you regardless the outcome. May the divine watch over us." Seamlessly Hendrick switched into his friendly and polite voice. "I bid you farewell for this evening, friend. May you find comforting sleep, so you can be alert tomorrow." Location: Campsite outside of Taer Valaestas Date/Time: Late Afternoon Who: Nala and Hendrick  .. It's Nala. I lied to Jeezargo when he first approached me,... "Ah, Lady Nala, it is a pleasure to be able to address you with your chosen name." Hendrick looked over to Jeezargo, who was about to prepare his sleeping ditch. "I had the pleasure of talking to our other reptilian companion and he has much to share." Suddenly Hendrick remembered the end to the last conversation and his face turned slightly red from the shame. "Whilst I do not know of your enemies, I believe that Jeezargo has honest intentions." He gave Nala a slightly longer than comfortable look, but he tried to hide the disappointment over her treatment of this creature. She is still young, I guess. "How you will get out of this social awkwardness, my Lady, I do not know. But I wish you luck." My father - I remember him well, and fondly. He was a very religious man... "I see." Hendrick noticed the sadness in her eyes while she was talking about her past, with her devote father. "Man like your father or me and Zoth though we might live our lifes differently, share the some form of believe in the divine. I have traveled this world for a while now child, and regardless of how devotion manifests itself, at the core is always the believe of being part of something bigger." I imagine that there is much comfort in believing that the gods have some sort of divine will, or that they will make sure everything is okay in the end. "That is where you might be wrong. Gods might be powerful, maybe even immortal against any danger. But to you believe, a god cares for your personal affairs? We have the power to chose, something the gods have not. For they are what they are. It is us who can change the will of the gods, be virtue of choosing our gods and believes. Ideas, lady Nala, ideas and a devout live shape the world. Not the gods." Anyway, I really only came over here to clear up the matter of my name...I'm glad to have you along. "Not to worry, I shall henceforth know you as Lady Nala." Hendrick took a glance at the bag containing countless tomes. "I have met many scholars in my time, but something tells me your reading is much diverse than that of my previous acquaintances. Any specific truths you are hoping to unravel?"     ..I'm glad to have you along. " It is a pleasure of sharing a path with you. May a our future endeavors be under a good star."
Location: Just outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Morning/Middle of Zoth's test of faith Who: Fearfacer , Hendrick  and Lupin (and any listening party members) Peace? peace he asks, the Sunborn is burning upon the pyres of our foe and still Stonebeast  remain, adamant, in his peace. I guess that is just his nature, to be stone, to be adamant. Why would i choose now to deter from our plans, from the task given to me. Fearfacer  clenches his fists , does he think me a coward or a fool, a man that would back down from his word or one stupid enough to let himself bring, misfortune, jeopardy to this mission, this task. Fearfacer   grunts angrily and spits on the ground  " Stonebeast , he will have his peace, when i am done with him! He will be alive as was promised of me, but a man can live wihout legs or arms, with a broken spine or shattered hands! He will live Stonebeast , but will he want to? " He does not face Lupin  he looks to the village fixated on the sounds . They gasp, Zoth's  faith must be strong, or he's foolhardy. Fearfacer  turns to face Hendrick and Lupin , he draws his greatsword and points it first and Lupin  and then the village as he speaks. " You Stonebeast  are you, free to move, free to think, free to feel what little you feel in your stone body, and I am me, I will go fight these cultists if that is what THEY wish to do, should they lay down their arms and surrender, I will allow them this, I am here for Elyon of the Broken Faith. You are free to try and stop me, and I am Free to head there anyway. You will not change my mind, He will be alive, but i will have my will put to action first. " as Elyon tells his followers to attack Zoth  and the fighting breaks out, Fearfacer  begins walking towards the village . " What will it be Stonebeast , will you stand there baffled while our plan fails and burns like the Sunborn  around us, or will you take up your weapon, your will, and do what it is you want. " Fearfacer stops looking at Lupin  and instead looks intently at the village as he approaches. " I am Fearfacer   of Clan Garuke-Lekina , I will win or I'll die, I face my enemy and they will fall. Now CHOOSE Stonebeast , who are you?! What will you do?! Will you be bent on things going as planned or will you take this time to see the task done, as you see fit, not as anyone dictates it! "
Location: Just outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Morning/Middle of Zoth's test of faith Who: Fearfacer , Hendrick and Lupin (and any listening party members) As Fearfacer walks towards the village he thinks to himself.  Is this my fault? Should I have told him, them, about my past. Should i have been more forthright with my attempts to deepen our trust. What do i do, if they attempt to restrain me, hold back my will. It matters little the task is at hand, it lay before me ripe for the taking, this Elyon  will pay for angering me so, and I will have my way. The others are free to do as they wish, I cannot control them, they may stop me, but I will have Elyon .  His attempts at contemplation quickly dispelled by his fury.
Location: Just outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Morning/Middle of Zoth's test of faith Who: Fearfacer, Hendrick and Lupin (and any listening party members) Baffled? Is that what you really thing is going on? Lupin couldn't help but laugh before growling out his answer. You seem to have forgotten yourself in your anger. As you  wished, we've challenged this leader to an "honorable" duel. As I pointed out, this leader was more than happy to order his followers to attack rather than give up his power. I never expected for this plan to work, so baffled is the last thing on my mind. Lupin's voice began to take on a mocking tone.  I will not stop you, Fearfacer, but know this: true courage, as your name seems to imply, does not always involve charging in with sword drawn. With that, Lupin took to the air and prepared himself for the coming conflict.
Location: Just outside of Shoonti Village Date/Time: Morning/Middle of Zoth's test of faith Who: Fearfacer, Hendrick and Lupin (and any listening party members) Hendrick's focus was redirected again onto Fearfacer and Lupin.  What had started out as a reasonable plan quickly turned into feast of bad decisions, everyone had to digest now. Two strong-willed - at least that is what they would believe - individuals with differing attitudes. Everyone could have seen that coming. A plan with barely any structure and too many variables, what were they thinking?  Maybe this is the way heretics should be dealt with. Displaying their true nature, in hope of success, just before being smitten by the fire. But then again, those townspeople, there is still good. In the past he would have seen things differently, but maybe this new Hendrick , the one the Flame requires, maybe he can safe those people. Maybe this is his test of faith. After all, there are a lot of lives at stake, who could eventually serve the greater good. No matter the cost.  The argument between Fearfacer and Lupin , abruptly ended with Lupin taking to the skies, stopping the situation from escalating even more. Like the end of the opening phase of a game of chess, the key pieces have been brought into position, ready to strike fear onto the enemy.  Have mercy on us all. Now the real test begins.

Too many to account for all of them.  Lupin continued to mull over the possibilities before his mind began to drift to old topics. And w hat of my hunt? I suppose that I should check in with House Tharashk once we arrive back in the city. Find out if they have a strong lead or not. . .Once I know of his whereabouts I can make a much better decision. Lupin gave a low growl. Until then, too many variables. A few more moments passed before Lupin came to a decision. Johannes, I have a task for you. Lupin locked eyes with his familiar as the weasel looked at him quizzically. Stay vigilant tonight. Watch for anything suspicious. Stay unseen if possible. The weasel gave an understanding nod and scampered off. He soon disappeared into the shadows surrounding a nearby hut.  Lupin settled into a comfortable position and began to read. His stillness was only broken when he occasionally reached up to turn a page. Occasionally the gargoyle would check in with his familiar, but the gargoyle's main focus was on the book before him.

Location: Altar outside Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon - Late evening, 13th of Aryth Who: Hendrick That is the last one, he mumbled barely making any sounds, other than the monotonous grunting of the pain. He clearly is not the most youthful anymore, but none of the others seemed to care for the dignity of the deceased. The last body was dragged on top of the pile of wood , after having been cleaned to the best of his abilities by him. He sat down for a moment. Today he was knocking at death's door. He had been there before, but this was different. In the past his former companions actually used to care.  He glanced at the bodies of the misguided townsfolk he could not save from the evil claws of this imposter, they were supposed to bring to justice now. Apparently he is from some noble family, maybe that is why he can get away with that. A brief, but vicious flicker of fire sparked in his eyes. After having rested briefly, he spoke the rites, hoping to give these souls the best chance of forgiveness and allowing them to bind to the everlasting flame, should they chose to accept this offer. He watched in silence, until the faint glow of the embers was all that was left. He arrived at the camp late that evening and tried to calm some of the villagers, who started to come to their senses somewhat, before finally settling next to the fire, where today's events had started to unfold.

Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Nala (Excerpt from the journal of Nala Delmirev ) 13th of Aryth, Elyon has been captured and for now, things are peaceful. We made our way back to Shoonti Village after a long and arduous battle, with the vast majority of the party having suffered greatly. The exhaustion was enough to knock out Fearfacer , Hendrick , and Lupin , and I nearly suffered the same fate. Luckily, everyone should recover after a peaceful rest. While it would be untrue to understate the importance of Jeezargo in this mission, I must admit that I grow more and more exhausted with him by the day, and I am not the only one. His behavior is constantly suspect, and I don't like traveling with people who I feel I must always keep an eye on. He slinks into the shadows without warning, and reappears when you believe him to be far off. Does he not know that one must take care not to surprise the paranoid? Should the Lizard do anything else to compromise the party or undermine me, especially in such a way that interferes with my own agenda, I will not be kind. The battle presents interesting conundrums for me; as I begin to recall what happened, I realize that I am left with substantial holes in my memory -  places where it seems I have no recollection, though everything before and after is crystal clear. I am aware that my own intellect (unintelligible) (end of page)

Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Johannes Johannes scurried through the shadows without a sound. He passed the strange bug-man and some humans standing by the blocked doorway of a building. Johannes scampered around the side of the building and found a small hole in the side of the building, just enough to peek inside. Inside the building, many humans lay making their strange whimpering noises. Nothing.  Johannes moved on. Johannes' nose began twitching several huts later, the rich scent of fish permeating the air. Johannes took off scurrying in that direction, but paused when his nose picked up the scent of the two strange lizards. Stay clear. Do not trust.  The mental order from Lupin was absolute. Johannes turned and began to head in a different direction. After passing a couple of huts, another familiar scent came to Johannes' nose. Friendly!  After a moment of non-response Lupin's reply came. Very well. Go see what she is up to. Let me know if it is anything of interest. His orders given, the weasel pushed his way into the hut and revealed his presence to Nala.
Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Nala and Johannes Nala was just finishing up writing in her journal when Johannes appeared in her hut, strutting about like a weasel on a mission. She set her journal aside and went to grab one of the sugar cubes that had been waiting for Puff's arrival.  "Here you go, little guy! You can have a whole one now that Puff isn't here to make you share with him." She held it out to the weasel and let him crawl up to her and sniff it before taking a bite. " Puff would normally keep me company during the night - he likes to communicate with me through images. How is it that you communicate with Lupin ?" Nala mused as she began drawing small doodles in the her journal in the margins. She held it up to Johannes , revealing two adult pseudodragons and a tinier baby pseudodragon that looked a lot like Puff .  "Tell him that he's welcome to come by for a visit if he wishes - I need to ask him something, anyway." Nala would open up a book and scratch the weasel until he decided to go back out an adventure.

Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Johannes, Lupin, and Nala Johannes began to blissfully devour the sugar given to him. Book. Hearing a word of interest from his familiar, Lupin looked through the weasel's eyes. Despite the weasel's wandering gaze, Lupin caught glimpses of the writing within the book. Draconic? But no words that I can make out. Hmmm. After a moment's study, Lupin came to the realization that the journal was written in some sort of cipher, but the formula for such was beyond him at the moment. Lupin heard Nala speak once again as Johannes' gaze turned back towards the female dragonborn.  "Tell him that he's welcome to come by for a visit if he wishes - I need to ask him something, anyway." Come! the weasel urged in silent agreement. The weasel's thoughts were quickly beginning to become distracted.  Lupin returned his senses to his own body and stood. No time like the present. Lupin walked to the hut that Nala was staying in and pushed his way through the door. Inside, the weasel was stretched out across Nala's lap in a stupor as he reveled in the bliss of a good petting. Choosing to ignore his familiar's near catatonic state, Lupin looked towards Nala. You had something to ask?
Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Lupin ,  Nala and Johannes Nala looked up to see Lupin enter her hut and gave him a big grin as she continued petting Johannes .  "Hello, Lupin ! I see you got the little message I sent. Thanks for stopping by. This is a bit of a...er...strange question. But I was hoping you would do me the favor of recounting the battle we just had. You see, I've been attempting to recollect it, and I'm finding some odd bits that don't seem to make much sense. I remember being hurt by arrows that seemed to come from no one, and...well, it's difficult to explain." Nala eyed her journal, still laying open on the table before her, and she casually closed it before returning her gaze to Lupin , waiting for his response.
Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Lupin , Nala and Johannes A bit of an odd question. . . Well, I cannot say that I was in the best position to describe everything that happened down at the bottom of the hill, but the situation did seem rather straightforward to me. Jeezargo had scampered up to the top of the hill with his companion to try and confront our target. I was working to do something about the archers raining down fire from my position. I do recall one archer on the other side of the hill from me who seemed to be giving you, Fearfacer, and Hendrick some trouble before you killed his. Could that be what you are talking about? Did you suffer a head wound by any chance? Lupin looked at Nala intently, the journal and it's code now in the back of his mind. So many mysteries to this one. . .
Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Lupin , Nala and Johannes As Lupin described the western-most archer to Nala , a confused look crossed her face. She racked her brain to try and recall the archer - the face, the bow, anything - but there was nothing there. Yet she was struck by arrows. Nala looked down, trying to sort out the impossibilities. Finally, she gave herself a reassuring nod.  "Yes...trauma...my head, I was hit pretty hard. That must be it." Nala looked at Lupin , hoping to convince him that she was satisfied with this answer.  "Anyway, how do you feel? That fight took a toll on all of us, I think." Nala held up her arm, still bandaged and throbbing with pain, though it was the good kind that comes from the rapid mending of the Dragonborn physiology.
Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Lupin, Nala and Johannes The fight did take a toll on us, some more than others,   Lupin agreed. Don't worry about me. I'm a tough beast, but perhaps talk to Zoth or Hendrick later about some healing for that head injury.   Lupin paused for a moment, considering. It was a prompt from Johannes, a lethargic thought of ' Friend.'  that gave Lupin his resolve.  While I have you, I'd like to ask a question myself. I'm hoping that by the time we get back to Taer Valaestas, I will have information on where my brother is. You have proven yourself to be an intelligent ally. In matters pertaining to my brother I can be. . . less than rational at times. Help me control my temper. Help me make the rational decision of if it's time to pursue him or not. Please. Lupin couldn't keep the awkward note of pleading out of his voice.
Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Lupin , Nala and Johannes "Yes...I should definitely talk to one of the two. Perhaps I will speak to Hendrick - I meant to see how he was doing anyway." Nala agrees, speaking more to herself than to Lupin . As he speaks, the mention of his brother confuses Nala . She tilts her head, recalling their conversation and not remembering anything about a brother, though Lupin did mention a 'quarry'. "Brother? You did not mention him before, though I assume this is the one you are hunting." Nala pauses, feeling honored that Lupin would trust her with this information, and that he would ask this of her. Though she thought of the secrets laying hidden in her satchel and guilt rose like bile in her stomach. Surely Lupin of all people would understand the sacrifices made for knowledge? But the thought left her mind as quickly as it had entered and she gave Lupin a guarded, but warm smile. "I will help you in any way that I can, and as for making rational decisions, you can always count on me for that at the very least."
Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Afternoon, 13th of Aryth Who: Lupin, Nala and Johannes Thank you. I truly do appreciate the offer. Lupin took a moment to compose this thoughts. Yes, the quarry I hunt is my brother gargoyle. Shortly before I set out on the road he murdered our shared creator. Now, I hunt him. I intend to put him down like the beast he appears to be. . . The beast he acts like. Lupin becomes visibly agitated as he recounts the story. At the same time, Johannes' fur begins to bristle and the weasel starts to come out of his stupor. After visibly calming himself, the gargoyle spoke again. Again, thank you. The gargoyle turned and began to walk towards the hut's door. Johannes jumped up to follow his master. At the doorway, the weasel turned around and looked back at Nala inquisitively.
Location: Shoonti Village Date/Time: Night, 13th of Aryth Who: Hendrick Hendrick had spent the evening contemplating. Zoth and Tak-Tha had done their duties in the name of whatever higher power. While the results were positive, the sour taste was still sharp, constantly reminding him of his past. Things were different now, but to what degree though. None of his companions approached him this evening, which might have been for the best. He had difficulty keeping his cool, with the flame burning inside him like it did in the olden days. They would maybe not understand as of yet. Even the pipe did little to douse the conviction. He wanted to find out more. Needed to really. What has this spoiled noble brat done here to those people. He knew that this "leader" was off-limits though. Maybe not explicitly off-limits for questioning, but he did not fully trust himself to control the situation. These fanatical cultists though - two of them were taken prisoners. I flicker of light seemed to spark in his stern eyes. Slowly he pushed himself off the hard floor next to the fire. His commanding walk did not allow for any questions of the guard placed to look after the prisoners. "Make sure no one disturbs me. Regardless of what you might think you hear or see. Do not open this door. I have to ask these gentleman a few questions." The guard saw the door of the stone building close seemingly by itself and for the rest of the night it remained tightly shut.

Location: Taer Valaestas Date/Time: 15th of Aryth Who: Lupin , Nala Nala knocked on Lupin's door after she was fairly certain that everyone else had gone to bed. After he let her in, she would give him a once-over, assessing for one last time if this was a good idea. She takes a deep breath, and looks at him. "I had a thought. A bad thought. We're looking for an unnatural race of white and gray. Someone who was on the streets kind of late last night. Someone who had an altercation with the guards, a highly-skilled bladesman who then stripped them of their meat." Nala pauses, briefly uncertain of voicing this concern aloud. " Jeezargo was lying about the source of the meat he cooked earlier."
Location: Taer Valaestas Date/Time: 15th of Aryth Who: Lupin , Nala Nala's statement made Lupin pause.  Lupin looked at Johannes , "Keep watch." He cracked open the door and let the weasel out into the hallway. As he moved, the gargoyle considered Nala's words.  Was it the lizard-man?There have been a few odd occurrences happening with him over the last few days. . . It would make sense. . .   Lupin turned to Nala with a thoughtful look, "It does seem to be damning evidence. But is any of it concrete? Is there anything to corroborate this theory?"
Location: Taer Valaestas Date/Time: 15th of Aryth Who: Lupin , Nala "I have nothing that would be admissible in court, and that's part of the reason I'm here. Clearly this isn't a suspicion that I can voice to the party, but if you think that my suspicion is worth looking into, then at the very least, this is a lead that we can discreetly follow. I've had doubts about Jeezargo's intentions ever since he introduced himself to me and especially after he attempted to insinuate that I might be behind these murders to the guards, I've been trying to keep an eye on him. The man he took upstairs was Jenkins , the guard that we briefly saw the other day, if you recall. If it turns out that Jenkins was on patrol last night, then I think it would be worth questioning him first." Nala's voice is low as she says this, and she takes out a notebook in her same cryptic style of writing that has a lot of unreadable text but also plenty of circled information and lines that lead to one word in particular, which Lupin might easily determine is Jeezargo's name due to the doubled Draconic symbols and the length of the word itself. "But naturally none of this is useful without concrete evidence, and the guards apparently don't care about the testimony of the victims themselves." Nala rolls her eyes.
Location: Taer Valaestas Date/Time: 15th of Aryth Who: Lupin, Nala "Yes. It's a shame that the testimony can't be repeated. . . and I do agree that Jeezargo 's new friendship with a city guard seems a bit. . . odd. Perhaps we can look into this when we go to interview the guards who were on duty last night."
Location: Taer Valaestas Date/Time: 15th of Aryth Who: Lupin , Nala "I think that's a wonderful idea. I'm going to head up to my room and draft several questions to ask. If you think of anything else, let me know. Some of the others are...well, I feel that perhaps we are the best equipped in the group to solve a mystery." Nala gives Lupin a wink as she gathers her things and then heads towards the door.

Location: Taer Valaestas Date/Time: 15th of Aryth Who: Lupin , Nala "Jinkies." Lupin found the strange saying oddly appropriate. "Rest yourself tonight. I will keep watch tonight for anything suspicious. Perhaps we will find information tomorrow to prove or disprove your theory." Lupin followed Nala out into the hallway and settled himself for his vigil. 'Anything to report?' Lupin mentally asked his familiar. 'Quiet,' the familiar replied. The gargoyle pulled out a book as his familiar took a nearby position.
Location: Taer Valaestas, Black Orb Inn Date/Time: 15th of Aryth, Late Evening Who: Hendrick, Jeezargo Hendrick was the last one down in the Inn, after Nala left, before he had a chance to talk to her about what had been working in his mind for the last couple of days. Mostly nights, actually. He decided to drop by Jeezargo's room before retiring for the night. That is not how I had planned this evening.. Two firm knocks later Jeezargo opened the door, having a slightly unusal expression on his face. "Pardon the late interruption friend. First and foremost, I would like to apologize for having eaten your meal, without having been invited to by you, a matter Fearfacer took into his own large hands.. If it is any conciliation the meal was marvelous." He paused for a bit, trying to be as open minded and friendly as possible, whilst having his stare fixated on the lizardman's remarkable eyes. "You will likely have guessed though, that this is not the reason I have come to your room tonight Jeezargo. The dragonborn woman we know. What is your business with her?" He thought for a moment, his face tensed a bit, before suddenly releasing into a friendly smile. "Look, I understand and notice some friction. While I have been witness to some of the arguments, the different approaches to tasks and such, I still do not understand the reason for the difficulty. Do not misunderstand me Jeezargo, I am not trying to judge, just understand. I for my part seem to be having favourable relationships with both of you."
Location: Taer Valaestas, Black Orb Inn Date/Time: 15th of Aryth, Late Evening Who: Hendrick, Jeezargo,  Surprised by the late evening knock, Jeezargo begrudgingly answers the door, the problem of Jenkins memeory loss weighing heavily on him. ...the meat was marvelous. “ Yes, it was a rather expensive meal for my new friend who suffered because of me. I’m glad someone was able to enjoy it.”  Jeezargo seems somber, depressed even.  “As for the time, it is late but friendly company would be nice right now. Please come in.” Jeezargo steps away from the door, and sits at a small table with 2 chairs in the corner. On the table rests a small book written in Dravonic. If you can read Draconic you can tell it’s a cookbook. both of you. “I’m not sure to be honest. She has been abnormally suspicious of me since I’ve met her, and despite my best intentions to come off as friendly and straight forward, she continues to suspect me as a horrid monster. I question if she is perhaps prejudiced against my race or perhaps she simply dislikes my way of life. I’ve given up on trying to appease her. Do you have some sort of suggestion? Jeezargo never grows angry, only continues to seem more exhausted and depressed about the situation he’s in.

Location: Taer Valaestas, Black Orb Inn Date/Time: 15th of Aryth, Late Evening Who: Hendrick, Jeezargo, ..she continues to suspect me as a horrid monster. Hendrick sighed a little. "In a way I understand the way you must feel . I for one have had people grossly misjudge me in the past. Times have not been easy for me either. A few years back something happened. I remember the faces of all the people looking at me, even close friends. Gyrdir, was a my closest friend at the time. His face was so calm, it even looked as if it wanted to say "I understand and I am at your side regardless". But his eyes were filled with horror. I still believe that I was misjudged majorly that day, but there was also some truth." ..or perhaps she simply dislikes my way of life... Do you have some sort of suggestion? He saw Jeezargo feeling unwell and answered in a friendly tone. "Both you and the dragonlady are unlike anyone I have met before, so it would not surprise me if she felt the same towards you. Maybe it is not so much her dislike of your way of life, but the underlying lack of understanding for it. She seems to be a person obsessed with reasoning, discarding anything she can not understand, even though it might be normal or obvious to you or me." Hendrick remembered Nala's way of talking about the dead guard "witnesses" and the way she couldn't seem to remember the archer she had killed atop the hill a few days ago. Some confusion crossed his face, before in a slightly longer than appropriate break zealous determination creeped onto display from the back of his mind. "Sorry, I drifted off a bit." he said shaking his head demonstratively, before continuing with a friendly face and residual bad taste in his mouth. "I think, regardless of whether or not, or more likely by how much you are misjudged, I think the way to resolve a situation as such is the mutual explaining and understanding of each others ways. Aren't you after all looking for allies in a far away land? The only way you will be able to find any, is by appealing to people in a way they see fit, not how you think they would want that." Hendrick got up from the chair preparing to leave. "Tonight I came as a friend. Great evil is looming in the distance. A danger I for one cannot ignore, and neither should you." His eyes showed an unusual determination, a fire and spark usually only seen by few unfortunate souls. "There will be times, where I will have to be able to depend on the dragonlady and you to act as one unit, for the sake of us all, maybe even for the sake of this world. Jeezargo, lizardman from a distant land, there will only be the option for both of you to work together in this or not be together at all." His face relaxed, his voice becoming somewhat uncomfortably calm. "I trust you understand I mean you well and by the powers granted to me I will try to convince the dragonlady of the higher cause we need to band together for. Tomorrow is a new day, a new hope. May your sleep be calm and your dreams be righteous."
Location: Taer Valaestas, Black Orb Inn Date/Time: 15th of Aryth, Late Evening Who: Hendrick, Jeezargo ”Are you sure you consider me a friend? Can I trust you to help me in the same way I offered to help you?”  Jeezargo also stands, a look of determination on his face.
Location: Taer Valaestas, Black Orb Inn Date/Time: 15th of Aryth, Late Evening Who: Hendrick, Jeezargo Are you sure you consider me a friend? Hendrick turned around, slightly offended by what Jeezargo seems to be insinuating. "If I was no friend of yours, would be here talking to you right now? We are brothers in arms, for what it is worth. Sure, we might want different things, but as I have told you in the past, what I want is only the betterment of this broken world we live in. And so far, we have in many ways worked side-by-side, fighting the same evils. By all means, I consider you a friend."  Can I trust you to help me in the same way I offered to help you? Hendrick noticed Jeezargo's change in mood. The sadness was exchanged for the familiar calculated coldness. "You can rely on me if you need council to offer my help. No word spoken here has to be heard by anyone other than you, me and whatever higher entities might be watching over us. However, regardless of the circumstances, anything I can do to help will be weighed against my faith, the thing I am not willing to betray. For it is us who have to remain strong and steadfast to save the world from evil of all kind."
Location: Taer Valaestas, Black Orb Inn Date/Time: 15th of Aryth, Late Evening Who: Hendrick, Jeezargo “I did not mean to insult you Hendrick, it is merely difficult for me to trust people. Even at home with my own kind, I’m not the most social creature.” Jeezargo pauses and thoroughly investigates listening points in the room, such as the window and sneaking a peak outside the door. After he does so he pulls the blanket and sheets of the bed and drapes them over the door to assist in sound dampening. He then does the same with the heavy furs he carries on the window. Lastly he orders Eurgo to stand guard on the roof and watch for any outside listeners. Should he see them, attack and either detain them or bring them back to the room. Once Jeezargo finishes, he turns to Hendrick, a look of deadly seriousness crosses his face. “You mentioned wanting to learn more about my culture. A darker bit of knowledge is that Lizardfolk do enjoy the taste of human flesh. It’s not necessarily sought out, but an excellent source none he less. A short tim ago a misunderstanding happened that caused me to come into possession of some. I while trying to best decide how to handle the situation, a powerful force contacted me and offered to solve the problem. In desperation to help my friend and with no better options seemingly available, I begrudgingly agreed. What happened next is terrible and I hope you may be able to help or have some knowledge of what this force is. Come with me please.  Jeezargo says all of this as quietly as possible, trying to keep both himself and Hendrick at the center of the room and standing closely together. He then gestures and turns toward the door, a questioning look on his face.
Location: Taer Valaestas, Black Orb Inn Date/Time: 15th of Aryth, Late Evening Who: Hendrick, Jeezargo ... Hendrick had listened to everything. No visible flinch escaped his composed stature. Jeezargo waited, patiently, to lead him away. H uman flesh? I suppose not particularly uncommon among these creatures.  Hendrick knew the way the lizardman had difficulty with the truth. Without doubt, something was not quite right. But things never are just right. Things never are just what they seem. That is what he was made to do. Look for the truth, all of it. Shine the light of the flame on all the dark spots until all is well-lit. "Jeezargo. I know you are not telling me the full truth. And for now, I do not need it. Whatever this situation you or your friend are in, I am willing to listen you out. I take it this human flesh you were talking about was contained in this meal we ate from. I am no fool, dont treat me as such. I see a soul in need of saving from darker powers." He inspected Jeezargos body language from tail to head. "Those powers might be external or internal, likely both." A comment which was followed by a stern look. "There is always forgiveness, there is always atonement. I am willing to help, for now. You would do well in trusting me.." With that, Hendrick followed Jeezargo through the door.
