It would basically do the same thing that the page you linked to would, but the problem with the page you linked is that it's pulling from the SRD, whereas the button that was in the compendium in game would show all the spells available in the PHB. Edit: After some searching, I've managed to find an image that showed an example of the Filter Results button.
