LF GM Dark Heresy (40k rpg)

Dustin - sorry mate, I forget not everyone has seen or played these games. Pathfinder is a Fantasy RPG based off the 3.5 set ruleset that was introduced by the 3rd and 3.5 edition released of DnD. Pathfinder is considered to be the "patch" that the DnD 3/3,5 rulesets needed to be more enjoyable. Considered to be the original D20 games - D20 meaning most of the checks (rolls of dice for things like skills, attacks etc...) were based off a roll of a D20. Savage Worlds is nothing more than a ruleset to running any type game - could be fantasy, modern, cyberpunk etc... Deadlands is a Savage Worlds campaign setting set in the Wild West - with a kick, there are bad things besides people - zombies, undead, demons etc... and it has an interesting death mechanic. Dont know if you ever played Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox360/PS3 and they had a zombie DLC. Thats the best representation I can think of. Savage Worlds has a number of campaign settings that use the Savage Worlds rulesets but the "world" varies dramatically. The Dark Heresy Campaign is my primary GM/DM focus, but I am not adverse to running something different if people want to change things up. I have a lot of free time M-TH after 8PM which is why I rekindled my interest in these games. My son has also shown an interest so I have been playing around the dining room table with him off and on. Hope that clears it up :)
I have the complete arcane for 3.5. :-) I could absolutely deal with having a warlock. Are you thinking the day we don't play Dark Heresy?(tuesday or thurs?)
Yes, was thinking like that or even alternating games. I am committed to DH so I want that to be first.
I would be up for something in the wild west with a twist maybe....but is it like a future wild west?
No think Wild West with undead and occult baddies.
So Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare(?)
So... Firefly with zombies?
I played red dead redemption just not the zombie part and if there was a firefly with zombies i would so play that...that show was amazing....shiny!
Also I talked to a friend today who seemed interested in joining our DH game given if the other people fall through have to send him the info and such so he can find what character he may want to be
Cool
So Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare(?) So... Firefly with zombies? Yes, pretty much. I played red dead redemption just not the zombie part and if there was a firefly with zombies i would so play that...that show was amazing....shiny! There is a Serenity RPG. I have the source book somewhere. We can add it to the list of games we'd like to try.
I loved Firefly myself, great writing by Joss Whedon and the cast was second to none.
Ok, let's shoot for 19 June (Tuesday), 2030-2330 EST as our first game. I'll start posting background material in the next few days. Please get your character sheets and backgrounds to me.
Next week is good for me however the next two weeks i will be out of town doing youth camps and mission trips. Also that is what i meant by future wild west....wild west with spaceships lol...that would be awesome.......again my online stupidity shines...are we using normal emails or is there a way through this website to send them to you and full character history due by next tues?
I would assume that since the activity has really only been the three or four of us that my friend may be able to join in the game as well I have sent him the book as well as the character creation excel program....and informed him that we start next Tuesday.
You can post the character info on tcd.guildlaunch.com under your name
I meant the stats and such or character sheets.
I will PM you my email address.
Ok. Think you have admin powers now. Figures I cant get to it from work to take a look, le sigh! Anyhow, I think I am pretty comfortable with the rules - I will ask for patience the first couple of sessions. I really like the skill based an percentile rules mechanic. Going to start building the roll20 pages today after I finish the short Pathfinder game I am playing with my son.
Ok - I made the first post. Of note I hate Google and Picasa right now. Second I miss automated scripts for inserting things like links and images. Web script not my forte :) Post to our web site - Background 1: <a href="http://tcd.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8439345&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&gid=266482" rel="nofollow">http://tcd.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8439345&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&gid=266482</a>
I couldnt for the life of me get the image to scale up so I included a separate link.
Also, I have found a site that's geared specifically towards managing online RPG campaigns. I am playing around with it. It is called Obsidian Portal and it seems to be a little easier for a web chucklehead like myself. Right now we will use the site Derek created until I put OP through its paces.
Alright, I'm looking at the Website now and checking it out.
Hey guys, any chance you'd be willing to take a Kill-Marine? I'm willing to work on toning some things back. I own all Deathwatch books and would love to play some 40k but I only have DW and Black Crusade.
I think a Space Marine would be seriously overpowered. We have room, but DW Marine isn't really covert.
Do you have a copy of Rites of Battle and all that goes on with that? Also, DW is scaled off of DH XP base so you can find ways to compare it. If a bit more covert is needed I'm willing to work a marine in Scout, there's plenty of stuff for that. Also, a Kill Marine could just be the answer for some social issues where a SM reputation would help, also where force is needed. A Kill Marine is designed to be able to meld into crossover, it's actually why they made the sub-role.
So i wanted to check again...but i just got home from helping my other friend create his character for DH...do we have room for him? He will be playing a void born assassin and his name is mark.
adjusted the image size
We have room for 4-6, should be more than enough room for your friend. I do need folks to get me their character sheets. Going to kick off Tuesday. Also added some background to the site. Can someone check and give me feedback?
I read it but had a hard time understanding it.....if that is what you were asking.
Register on the site and go to announcements. (you have to be a member to view) I have a folder linked with... important files for us. =D These may or may not be files you have requested.
I read it but had a hard time understanding it.....if that is what you were asking. You didn't understand the intro or the linked geo-demographic briefing. Feel free to ask questions in the forum here or there. It was just a scene setter.
Also, go to "gallery" and you can upload your character sheets there so that we can all view them.
I understand that we are on a hive planet investigating a strange death and the district is slowly fading but that was about it.
I'm not seeing where i can upload into the gallery.
I understand that we are on a hive planet investigating a strange death and the district is slowly fading but that was about it. Ok basically, you are all in an Inquisition briefing room having been summoned by Inquisition Agents for your first assignment as Acolytes (newbies) of the Inquisition. That's basically where we will kick off on Tuesday.
That I gathered but I meant more on the location and the current situation of it. I feel stupid sometimes lol.
NO ONE WILL EXPECT THE IMPERIAL INQUISITION!
Oh no thats ok - I thought it was in the Briefing Sheet - no worries. You are on Hive World Sibellus, Calixis Sector. Currently in Briefing Room of Imperial Inquisition Headquarters for this district.
I am working on the Campaign now if you want to come in and chit chat: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/join/11010/DT87aQ" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/join/11010/DT87aQ</a>
Ok fellas quick poll - I kind of goofed, didnt realize there were two "starter" scenarios - we will do both. However, would you prefer a more action based scenario or an investigative scenario to lead the game off with?
I'm okay with both actually assuming that the investigation one has some small fighting moments.
I'll admit, I like how the cover to the introduction game looks.
Ok, we'll stick with Darkness and then move to the other one. I am offline now watching the game.
I uploaded you dustin
also, you can try the chat feature I have going. You may be able to IM real time... if I set it up right. Edit: <a href="http://tcd.guildlaunch.com/communication/chat/site_chat.php?gid=266482&raid_pool=278988&raidId=1110964" rel="nofollow">http://tcd.guildlaunch.com/communication/chat/site_chat.php?gid=266482&raid_pool=278988&raidId=1110964</a>
Not the right I think you put up the Marcus I'm playing as the guardsman Erik.
Sent application on guildsite.
Already accepted. =D
Derek - I am looking at purchasing a month of Obsidian Portal - looks like it will work for our game and it is more geared towards RPG management than MMO guild management. I had a heck of a time with a basic post witht the other sites and the pop up ads were killing me softly with their love. If I go with OP I'd like to pick your brain when necessary on getting it setup. I really like what some folks are doing with it including some ongoing DH campaigns... I think we have a really solid group that I'd like to keep around for awhile. The nice thing about OP is only I'd have to purchase - everyone else would just have to register to take advantage of the campaign tracking. That being said: Active guys I expect to see on Tuesday: Derek (+1 Friend) Dustin Peter Christopher This character generator (<a href="http://www.malleus.dk/Ordo/NpcGenerator/Default.aspx" rel="nofollow">http://www.malleus.dk/Ordo/NpcGenerator/Default.aspx</a>) is nice because you can then export to text. I'd like to get either PDF or text of your sheets by Sunday so I can "get to know you". In the past I have had email addresses for my players to update stuff and just general discussion when I used to run DnD on the Fantasy Grounds VTT. It will probably take me a couple of sessions to get used to this system and roll20. I did notice during testing that the mikes are on constantly so background music, TV, etc... can be heard. If someone knows how to make it push to talk - let me know. I specifically noticed the ceiling fan in my office was picked up and made me staticky - and I could hear TV and music from Peter which was pretty distracting. Should be a lot of fun - bring your sense of humor, patience, and Doritos.
