LF GM Dark Heresy (40k rpg)

Seeking a GM for some warhammer 40k RPG. Leaning towards Dark Heresy, but this is a negotiatable point. There are 2 or 3 players who are comitted so far. Looking at after... 430 central time. Once a GM is found players aren't that hard to come by. :-)

I can probably GM this - still working my way through the rules. I am very familiar with the WH40K world, but I have only dabbled with this recently. I have a set of modules I'd like to run and perhaps a couple of "on the fly" types. My current problem is I like tokens and good maps and those are tough to find for WH40K. I would be available 730PM - 1130PM EST (630PM-1030PM CST). If there is interest let me know. Feel free to PM me.

Peter - Ok - thats one - I think best is probably GM+3 and the GM will "guest star" as necessary. I think I can tell a good story in this setting and my games are a good balance between roll and role play.

Once we get a response from Derek and his group - we can setup a timeframe.

More than welcome. Youll need the core rulebook to get familiar with the setting and game rules. You can buy the PDF from RPG DriveThru or get the hardcover at most game stores or Amazon. If you want, you can randomize everything for your taste. It even lets you roll for the background on who your family were. Suggestions: Pick what you want on all of them, except Divination, it is highly suggested you hit Random for the Dark Heresy experience (no one wants to just click on the best Divination, you have to let chance work it's magic.) Don't edit your rolls or you screw everything up, don't like what you rolled? Ok - Going to start off with the module Edge of Darkness. This should ease us all into the game pretty well. So far we have one player as a Guardsman.

I'll have to hunt it down, but I found an excellent excel doc for character generation. Super intuitive. This is sounding good. ^_^

FYI I'm a huge fan of psykers. I have a character rolled up to build into biomancy OR divination depending on setting/group needs.

Fantastic links and please play what you'd like and I'll guest star or mod as needed. People die ugly and fast in this game so you may want some alts in case the Emperor forsakes you.

I'm willing to play as long as the day of the week works for me. I made my character along with Derek....we have been looking for a way to play this for some time. My character is a Guardsman as well but I didn't really look into the roll20 as much so I didn't see where we could transfer the character details.

Right now it is just by email or PM. I would like a copy of everyone's sheet prior to the game. I think we have a good solid interest base.

If there's still room, I'd love to play a techpriest or guardsman.

Excellent: Players Signed up - peter Keith (Guardsman) Derek (Psyker) Dustin White (Guardsman) Alexander Algier Zack Schaefer Taiell Nokarvo (Techpriest or Guardsman) Alan Cranston Eric Brant An Acolyte and an Arbiter would be handy for the group, but I will guest star or alter the adventure as necessary although the PCs may have the additional roleplay aspect of babysitting and protecting an elitist scribe/acolyte or very morally upright Arbiter :) I think that pretty much maxes players out. My 15 yr old son may play as well, but given his other interests I dont know how dedicated he will be. A couple of things I may start a separate thread for just this game - I may ask the forum mods to add a separate category for games "in play". Also if anyone knows of a good website for tools for managing a campaign - similar to the guild sites for MMOs let me know. I'll also want an intro from each player - I'll post more later. I am an active duty Naval Officer so my days start EARLY.

For the intro of characters we can do both here and in game. I really meant an intro of you. For instance, I am a 39 yr old Naval Officer with a wife and two boys. Been playing PnP RPGs off and on since high school. Never DMd Dark Heresy before, but love the setting and have experience DMing other games both on and offline.

Hi, my name is Derek. I'm a 26 year old RN who works in Clinical Informatics. Have a wife and 4 pets. I've played bits and pieces of PnP campaigns in college, but haven't had the opportunity to play a longer term game until now. In rpgs I tend to play utility type characters on the front lines.

Tonight (since its Tuesday) I'm going to log on @ 830est and drop an invite into a roll20 "game" just to utilize the VOIP/chat features to get a little meet'n greet going. Perhaps discuss the upcoming campaign a tad. Just to get a feel of everyone's expectations. It'd be cool to mess with roll20 with a bunch of people too. Get some hands in time with the program.

Looks like I may be the old man of the group :). I'd love to jump in, unfortunately I will be on the road picking up my oldest from the airport. I am going to run Edge of Darkness for our first game. It's an intro module for DH. It will then branch into other scenarios. Currently I have three adventures sketched out, but need to flesh out. If you are a big Black Library fan you may see some guest appearances from the heroes of those books. Some plot lines may parallel adventure points in the novels. Derek is looking into finding a web site for the group to use for out of session exchanges and maintaining campaign material.

Preference to Tuesdays or Thursdays? I think I am about ready to kickoff. Also I am on a lot in the evening if someone wants to talk character or game questions. Excellent. I was picking up my oldest son from the airport so I wasn't available. I may try to hold a couple of ad hoc sessions later this week as time becomes available and I am actually building the campaign. I'll be making "pages", but can still chat and answer questions.

Ok fellas - we havent seen a lot of activity from anyone but Peter, Derek, and Dustin so I am going to PM the other folks and see what their plans are. Three will be just fine plus my son may play. I also have a buddy who is running a Rogue Trader game in a separate venue so I will see if he is interested. I have been really pleased with the activity and that will really keep everyone interested. On a side note I may look at running a Pathfinder or Savage Worlds (Deadlands) game on an alternate night if anyone is interested. Derek - would it be possible to get some sort of Admin rights so I can upload stuff or is that inherent in my "joining and being accepted by the guild"?

I feel really lost whenever other games are mentioned because i don't know of them....I have played almost everything in the Warhammer universe from the original tabletop to Dawn of War and the other games on consoles and PSP. I would be willing to try other ones depending on how this goes but I do have some nights where I can't play for that long. We also have another guy that we had tried to start a Deathwatch campaign with and he was interested in this as well except his schedule changes so much it would be hard for him to play every time. In quick what are pathfinder and savage worlds?
