Classic look/layout for the D&D 2024 character sheet

Score + 87
Could you please return the 2014 sheet? The new sheets are completely unplayable. At least add a sheet switcher button.
This is also an accessibility issue, because many people, and especially children in school, learn to play by pen and paper, and learn to know the original paper character sheets. Having a character sheet that completely changes the structure and layout makes it a lot harder to learn.

The game creator can still add the D&D 5e (2014) sheet to the game along with the new sheet - any 2024 content would need to be added manually. I also do not like the design of the D&D 5e (2024) sheet. It uses too much of the screen, has too much dead space and has too much data hidden behind sub-menus. Most of my players prefer to have everything (except spell lists) on one page just like the physical sheets supplied with the physical books.  Sviatoslav P. said: Could you please return the 2014 sheet? Throwing my name in the hat, the 2024 sheet is just too busy, is hard to read and is just terrible all around. I can't find many people who really likes it in its current state. Funny enough, how the spells section is broken out is superior to the 2014 version IMO. I would take the spells layout and apply it to the main sheet, I think the sectioning and blocks out for each section would be a vast improvement for the statblock portion and would greatly increase its read ability and overall functionality.  I'm close to moving onto other programs if this isn't fixed. It's been over a year with countless feedback on this, but not a peep on even improvements.
+1 this!

I like a lot of the new stuff with the 2024 sheets, but they do not work well without using the builder, which makes it harder to use custom content. In addition, the lack of resource trackers is pretty tough, my players used those for anything from tracking spell slots, to charges in items, to ki points and such. Would very much like to see those return.

we still need a single-paged 2024 version that looks like the 2014, the sheet of 2014 and the rolls and how it worked was very nice and just needed some adjustments, i dont know why they overcopmplicated the 2024 sheet that much, it has like 20 sub-tabs that nobody asked for, i have neurodivergent players and they liked that youc an see the whole page by jsut scrolling up and down, now it has a lot of subtabs and it took them like 5 minutes to find something and a lot of stuff isnt customizable anymore or if you want something custom it opens a new tab and the options are confusing and not very intuitive Thye literally said: lets make this bicycle new and built a damn atomic submarine that needs an coding engineer to know how to properly edit it instead of just click a few stuff and make it as you want it For example, they moved the skills to the attributes, why? they were in alphabetical order, and 2024 rules allows to use some skills with a different attirbute, so my neurodivergetn friend using intimidation with the barbarian, keep asking if he use it with charisma or strength even when 2024 barbarian uses strength on rage to use it, but the skill is in charisma, so not very helpful and to find items and custom features they need to navigate between like 20 sub-tabs that take a lot of ram to load even on good pc's also the dark page is forced, i thought it was me with dark mode, but no, is forced to NOT look like a sheet of paper, some of us like the dark mode but having the sheet in white and letters in black and the "gear" tab is gone, which means we cant ustomize stuff from the sheet like skill values to custom stuff, like using the damn strength to roll intimidation, the 2014 sheet has the gear tab and on that we set up the expertise, imagine having the same and adding the option to change the atribute you sue on the skill so monk rolls athetics using dex and the like, or adding extra, like feywanderer ranger adding wisdom to all the charisma checks isntantly without having to update manually if you increase the wisdom, just add it once and made it t add soemthing or lfat value, like some attack used to have on 2014 that allowed to select what to add (attribute or flat bonus) i even updated my 2014 sheets to instantly use the 2nd resource of the page as a Exhaustion value and changed the d20 formula on the gear tab so instantly reduce exhaustion from any d20 check and changed the dc formula to also use it to reduce the DC instantly , so is doable on the 2014 sheet, it must be very easy for "experts" on coding from roll20, i mean, it took me a few tries and research but im not an expert on coding and i did it -[[((@{other_resource}))]] [ exhaustion ] + 1d20 i mean, i was the DM of my group for a 7 years campaign that went from lv1 to lv21, we edited the hell out of the sheets and i learned some macros to easy the job on it, i even managed to create automated loot and event roller tables on the chat of the roll20, so players could instantly generate random loot or encounters so we all have surprises, but the new stuff is so stiff and unconfortable to see-use that we dont even last enough in the new campaign to amke the characters, at jsut 1 hour from doing characters we jsut thrash it and returnedto 2014 vesion since was unusable, it wasnt jsut because we are used to the other version, is because is hard to use and you cant even see enough stuff and hide info all the time You know whats worse? in twitter they posted that the 2024 sheet will have a "printable" option and the printed option is a single page in normal colors, meaning the system CAN make that version automatically... well, put a damn option where the users can choose to see a "simplified version" of the sheet so is a single page showing everything as in 2014!!! you know, the "printable version" but to be used on roll20!!!
yea all this time later I have tried many times to tolerate the 2024 sheet but it simply isn't functional I can't even edit the base stats of my starting character without using there builder which I REALLY do not want to do. If I select edit manually I should be able to do just that go into any section and fill it out just like I would on any piece of paper. Until this most basic usability exists it isn't even really usable.  Until I have something usable I can drag and drop to there is simply no reason to bother purchasing any books on roll20. I mean they copy and past from D&D beyond better then from within roll20 so losing drag and drop loses all reason to buy the books.
Bump.
Recently used the 2024 sheet for the first time. While I do think there are some definite improvements over the old sheet, I agree with most here that 1. 2024 is far too busy (despite often showing less information) and 2. Editing the sheet is much more difficult. At least the first of these could be fixed with a layout more like the 2014 sheet or the new (and appreciated) printout that we can generate.  Faced some issues with character building, modifying, and leveling, too; but honestly didn’t track those closely, and they’re better suited to a bug report and/or a separate thread.
+1 Purchased, tried and refunded the 2024 set and found the character sheet just incredibly unusable in its current state in comparisson to the 2014 sheet. So my groups are still using the 2014 rules/sheet/game. If the 2014 sheet can be "adopted" for the 2024 ruleset my groups will purchase and run the 2024 rules.

If the 2014 sheet can be "adopted" for the 2024 ruleset my groups will purchase and run the 2024 rules.  It can, but it requires manual entry of the data. My groups use the 2024 rules on the 2014 sheets.  Where that poses the greatest issue is spells. Simply too much work to write the spells in. To solve the spell problem we use a Scriptcards macro called Spell Book Manager to transfer the spells from spell mules to the characters. Most of the spells are available to the public via FBR 2024 spell mules.
I have had a bunch of new players recently, and players that have learned the game with paper sheets are really struggling to navigate the new one. Yes, it is possible to manually edit the old one, but it is a lot of work.
