I don't see a green arrow either?
I also: Like the new layout quite a lot. Like the collapsing toolbar. Cannot see the green arrow. Like what you did with the zoom control. I wonder if the toolbar could be set to auto-hide/reveal on hover?   And I wonder if the zoom control could also hide/be hidden when not in use?
Thing with Zoom control is you can hide it already which is REALLY convenient if you use CTRL+Mousewheel to Zoom in or out... One less thing blocking the view on the VTT or Handouts / PDFs / Character Sheets... Eponymous said: I also: Like the new layout quite a lot. Like the collapsing toolbar. Cannot see the green arrow. Although I usually use the mouse wheel, I still need to use the Zoom control on occasion. Sometimes, when I'm at max magnification, the mouse wheel zoom becomes erratic and using the zoom control to slightly decrease the magnification fixes it. Hi Eponymous, this is a Stylus thing, so not native to Roll20, please don't shoot the messenger ; )))) IF you use Stylus, make a new style and drop this in / * Let the new sidebar slide in and out on hover * / div #master -toolbar {left : -55px ; transition : left 1s ease -out 0 .5s ; } div #master - t o o l b a r :hover {left : 0px ; transition : left 0 .2s ease -in 0s ; } Not mine, came from another forum post and unfortunately I cannot remember from whom. Personally I played with it for a while and then found I preferred it without, YMMV
Hey Folks, Some updates for the new toolbar (and a fix for the old toolbar). VTT Improvements You can now go back in turn order. Sorry that took so long to get too. It's super annoying to have to cycle back through the turn order or rearrange the order to fix a simple mistake. Now you can just go back. We have locked down the movement of Doors and Windows so that they can only be moved on the Dynamic Lighting Layer. We're hoping this will reduce the number of people that are having problems with moving those around. Let us know what you think. We updated the colors that everyone is assigned when they join a game. We're hoping this will make it easier to identify individual users. Also, you can still change this color if you want. We have updated the Zoom slider so that now you can also have access to the Zoom to Fit option. We're hoping this will give everyone all the functionality they need there. Thanks for the feedback! Keep it coming. Links in the chat log were hard to see because they weren't styled to look like links. Now they look like links and you should be able to find them easily. VTT Bugs Fixes Now, Mac uses that use a mouse or trackpad that doesn't have a right-click will find that the Ctrl + Click is now working as expected on both the new toolbar and the old toolbar. Sorry about that.
YES! Thank you! Andrew Searles said: You can now go back in turn order. Sorry that took so long to get too. I have to say I had some problems and trepidations about using the new toolbar, but with recent changes and fixes, I'm liking it better than the old toolbar and have permanently switched. I'm so glad that the UI has been fixed so that we can go backwards in the turn order. You don't know how many times I've accidentally hit the forward arrow twice and cursed the UI for not letter me go back. Now, I can stop cursing. :-) I'm also glad that the doors and windows have been locked down so that they don't move unless you're on the DL layer. That was a huge PITA because every time I had to unlock a door, or reveal a secret door, they moved, revealing much more than I wanted to reveal about the map. The Zoom to Fit option on the new zoom slider is a very welcome change. I have a player who is on a machine with a small display, and he's constantly "losing" himself on the screen. I convinced him to switch to the new UI so now the Zoom to Fit option helps him find everyone on the map and he can then zoom in as he needs. All-in-all, I'm liking many of the changes and improvements.  Just my $.02.
Hey Folks, Some more updates for today! Let me know what you think. VTT Improvements In preparation for our upcoming measure tools improvements, we went ahead and added the ability to pan while measuring. Now you can use the right-click or the middle mouse button to pan while measuring. We made a few general performance improvements while dragging tokens. We hope that should have a slight improvement for some people. VTT Bug Fixes Fixed a bug where tokens will reappear after being deleted or move unexpectedly when the character sheet is updated. You can again delete these tokens with confidence.

Hi Andrew,  i'm enojying the new updates.  quick question but how do you get this bit to work?  Right clicking for me sets a new "waypoint" when measuring and middle mouse clicking resets the origin point.  maybe i'm missing something here.

Are the drawing tools all messed up now or is it me?  I make polygons on a map and they stick together and they are impossible to select and frankly its more trouble than it should be all around.  Garbage drawing now please fix this.

Hi Hobo! I can't reproduce a problem with polygon drawing or selection? Can you give more details or some repro steps? Also, can you describe your hardware a bit (desktop or tablet, mouse, trackpad or touchscreen, that sort of thing)? also which browser you are using, and if the problem persists in a private browsing window.

When you finish drawing a polygon you need to hit ESC first so that you can start a new Polygon. If you do not to that and click to start a new Polygon it connects to the old one...

@Andrew Searles: "in preparation for our upcoming measure tools improvements," ok, aside from one bullet on the resdesign page, this is the first I've heard of it.  I replayed Morgan's video on the redesign page; no mention of ruler changes. Can someone sharee some more about this? I'm not suggesting it doesn't need work, but I'm very curious what your priorities are, even if you don't have a plan yet, and if you're mentioning it as "upcoming", you probably have a plan, even if you don't yet know if it can all be implemented. This is where Roll20 could really learn to better communicate: new/changed features just appear out of the fog, like icebergs before the Titanic.  Give us a heads-up, please. BTW, I just tried middle-mouse pan: very nice, thank you. @laurcair: right-mouse did the same for me (added waypoint), middle-mouse hold while continuing to hold left mouse lets you pan without interrupting the current measurement. EDIT: ok, after a bit of googling I found the "Roll20 Reroll 4" video from 10 days ago, which includes this, although apparently the only mention outside the video itself of the measurement changes is in the youtube description. Would it be too much to ask for a list of topics covered to be included in the post about the video?
I got THIS (measure tool with paning) to work ONCE and did not know how I even did it! It SAVED all the Way Points I did up to this point and I could resume it from there after paning. So a HOW TO RELIABLY would be VERY nice to have here! @Andrew Searles Ken S. said: @Andrew Searles: "in preparation for our upcoming measure tools improvements," ok, aside from one bullet on the resdesign page, this is the first I've heard of it.  I replayed Morgan's video on the redesign page; no mention of ruler changes. Thanks Ken.  Was able to get it to pan with the middle mouse button but certainly didn't feel intuitive to try to work out how this should work.   I wonder if having a link to the video in the comment/change log would also be useful a "We've made XYZ change, it now does this and you can see how it works here <link to video/post/something useful>"
I like that the selected layer button

Not everyone uses a mouse with 2+ buttons (e.g. trackpads, Apple's Magic Mouse, etc.)
I got the pan button working, but once I let go of the middle mouse button it also drops the token. Has any one had that issue?
Got it to work just once... it was strange as it saved all the waypoints while paning... That's why I asked for a how to reliably... ;) Warlord said: I got the pan button working, but once I let go of the middle mouse button it also drops the token. Has any one had that issue?
it might just be me and not being use to it, but the new mouse icon for polygon line tool is unusable for me even being fully zoomed in i can not tell were that mouse icon is gonna paint the poly line. can there be a feature to turn it off and just use my default mouse icon or that + sign cursor???

Hi Jonathan,  In my experiments it appears at the tip of the tool, it is a 'pen' type tip. I agree, it definitely takes some getting used to.
Totally Agree! They should fix the Icon to maybe a cross so that you know exactly where you draw your line by setting the points! Hi, Will the new toolbar ever respect the dark mode setting? I can't really use anything in dark mode cause my eyes get strained and hurting very very fast (in a couple of minutes), and the new redesigned toolbar seems to stay in dark mode even when it is off, which means I just can't use it at all.

Please check on the Pan feature. This is what's happening. - I select the token and move it with a right click of the mouse. -I use the left click to measure the distance of the Token. - When I reach the end of the map, I use the mouse middle button to pan which work, but as soon as I finish moving the map (whit the pan) I let go of the mouse middle button to be out of pan mode and it drops the token.  Please correct this, other wise the old UI is better.
My players have commented that it would be very helpful if the Measure Tool window could be minimized, just like character sheets or other windows, after they have made their measurement selections. Some of them play on smaller laptop screens, and it becomes extremely hard to use the measure tool with the small amount of screen that remains when trying to measure.
the dice roller was better when you could hover over the dice and the dice table appeared, now is just a pop-up window that have to keep oppening and closing, it was better the other way
Any chance the cool kid "LIGHT" button either doesn't show for those who aren't paying for it? Or just move it  out of the way? Like at the very bottom maybe?!? It's in the way I keep missclicking the bloody thing Even if I was paying for it, I wouldn't use it cuz it's completely and utterly useless The rest of the UI appears to be working ok. But that being said, I'm barely using this website anymore. I got tired of being unable to use it properly -.-

With most (all?) sites and apps that have both paid and free versions, the free versions includes some annoyances.

Yeah, I have a number of gaming apps on my iPad, all of which have ads all over the place. They do get annoying... but you learn to live with them and work around them if you don't want to (or can't afford to) pay money to get rid of them. Almost all games and websites these days have ads. You can't avoid them. I don't see why Roll20 should be any different. You either pay to get rid of the ads or you learn to live with them and work around them. Whining about the ads, or demanding they be removed, isn't going to be productive in the slightest.  Rick A. said: With most (all?) sites and apps that have both paid and free versions, the free versions includes some annoyances.
I can't use the new Redesigned Toolbar and Layers. Sometimes when I go to change a page setting or even delete a page it will lock up my browser, leaving me with a black screen and the only thing I can do is restart the browser. I am using Firefox and the maps/pages are in Dungeon of the Mad Mage. Also I am using the 5e OGL character sheet by Roll20. I have not experienced this problem while opted out of the new interface.

Have you tried in any other games? DotMM is notoriously the largest 5E module available on Roll20, and has caused other issues simply due to the amount of assets and things that are included.  It it doesn't happen in any other modules, then that can help narrow down and troubleshoot the issue.  If it's happening in all of your games, then it's more likely caused by browser settings or perhaps an account glitch or something.
@Jarren I have had it do this in my Test-Waterdeep game that I use to test things out before Transmogrifying them to my active games. Test-Waterdeep is started out as  copy of Waterdeep: Dragon Heist ans as such is a large game. I haven't noticed it on other games but then again I am not running other games. One of my players is having a similar problem but he is using older equipment, (less ram, older graphics card, etc.).
Its been a while since I tried the new toolbar, and it is still unusable for me.   I have to use browser zoom as my eyesight is poor, which means that half the toolbar is off the bottom of the screen with no way to reach it as there is still no scroll option. I would love to try out the new features but until the bar is accessible to me, it is pointless for me to even try. I have once again sent a screen shot in, and i'll add it here as well, this is all of the bar I can access.

Hi Oenanthe! If you are comfortable using the Stylus extension, here is a style that might help. This reduces the vertical space the buttons take up just slightly: .toolbar-button-outer { height:32px; } .icon-slot{ height:32px !important; } .toolbar-button-mid .label { margin-top: -12px !important; z-index:1; } You may need to mess with the pixel values depending on your browser zoom. That last rule keeps the layer labels visible. It's not perfect, but it's functional, and may help you use the new interface. I do NOT recommend it for people not using it for this specific purpose . If you need help installing the extension, shoot me a message.

Thank you I'll certainly have a look at it.  I do like most of what I can see on the new toolbar, but it is a shame I can't access the layer section normally.  I had hoped a scroll bar wouldn't be to much of an issue to add that it might have been done by now, but with no programming knowledge I'm guessing it is harder than I thought.  Even having it split  into two bars wouldn't be a problem as there is the option to collapse it when not needed.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks!
