Opt In to the New Toolbar and Layers Redesign

I've been using the updated toolbar interface and overall, I like it very much. One complaint I have though is that, for me at least, the "Ink Pen" mouse cursor is very clunky when trying to draw Dynamic Lighting barriers. I suppose it's fine for very broad, straight lines. But if you're doing detailed work, say a natural cavern with rough walls for example, it's very difficult to draw the light barriers exactly where you want them. I don't mean Freehand either, but the Polygonal Lines option.
Regarding the Polygon Tool I'd like to see a different utility / cursor, too. Instead of the Ink Pen it could be a simple crosshair...
I agree, the inkpen cursor is difficult to use, since one needs to be zoomed in tight and apply a bit of "Kentucky Windage" to predict where the polygon will actually stop and start. This is especially difficult in circumstances where snapping to the grid isn't an option. I'd also prefer a crosshair cursor that accurately pinpoints the ends/vertices of the polyline.
A crosshair pointer would be best, although even the original arrow pointer cursor was better than the current "Ink Pen" pointer tool. I disabled the Improved Interface on the "dummy game" I use to prep encounter maps for live play, just so I can build map light barriers with the old interface. It's much more use-friendly for that purpose and, since it's just a build account, I don't need all the other bells and whistles that the Improved Interface offers.

I'm in the pen cursor camp. It's the default behavior on most Adobe Products, so I'm very used to the metaphor, the click point makes sense, and it reminds me what tool I am using.
How about a pen nib with a point? Try as I might, the endpoint almost never ends up where I think it's going to. If I'm off the grid, it usually takes at least one "undo" at each end of a line to get it right. :/ Adobe products have never worked well for me, not even their pdf reader. I think it's personal;  I may have somehow offended John Warnock in the past.

I'm not experiencing an issue with the point of the nib. Maybe it acts differently on the Mac? The line ends directly at the point of the nib for me. And to be fair, I've been using Adobe products since the late 80s. It's definitely built into me by now.
In my case, the line starts/ends at a point a few pixels away from the "nib", and the distance/direction varies depending on how far I'm zoomed in and the direction that I'm drawing. (Windows 10, 24" monitor, 1920x1080) Also, my "nib" ends in a flat, not  a "point".

That's pretty much the problem I experience as well... I don't really care so much what the cursor looks like, as long as its precise and consistent. Which I'm not currently experiencing with the ink pen cursor. As I mentioned above, I have resorted to disabling the enhanced interface when working on drawing Dynamic Lighting barriers.

Hey ! i like the redesign but it took out one feature somehow Previously you were able to set to polygons 2 colors in a RRGGBB format, but if u entered a RRGGBBAA format it worked too ! and it was super usefull to set area with some colors which could overlap and still have the map visible Now, when you set an RRGGBBAA color, you can see the preview but it get trimmed as a RRGGBB color Can we get back the RRGGBBAA too please ? x) edit: oops i saw the feedback post after, sorry edit2: well its this post

I recently needed to set RGBA because I needed a rectangle that could be seen through, to mark an area. I had to temporarily switch back to the old UI to do this. I wholeheartedly agree that it would be extremely useful to have this ability restored.
Hey folks! We released a new update to the New Toolbar today that I wanted to share with you. In particular, the toolbar now smartly resizes to match your screen height. If your screen is too small for the entire toolbar to fit, it will now hide some of the buttons behind a "..." menu. This means that those of you with a shorter screen, or those who are zooming in with their browser, will now always have access to everything the toolbar has to offer. Thanks!

Is there a way that I can make the UI redesign the default when starting roll20? At the moment I have to manually set it back to the redesign when I relog to play.

Hi Daniel G. Most site setting preferences are stored in cookies. If you regularly clear browser cookies, the display will always return to default the next time that you enter.
