+1, heck just paid for pro again to use the transmogrifer and would be more inclined to do so more often if I could just copy over folders

Same. It's a must. Fallow this topic and talk to the devs guys.

Sigh. So many years later and This is really the only update i've ever wanted. I guess i'm a simple person.

Want roll20 to run smoothly

And want to be able to transfer my folders and characters between games easily.

February 16 (1 year ago)
Please let us transfer folders. This is completely for GMs, It's completely for Pro users. We know this makes it somehow lower priority on your list of things to do. But it would save so much time for us.
February 17 (1 year ago)

I found it funny you saying only for pro users so lower priority, as pro users we are the ones paying the most for the service, should be a higher priority then things meant for free only players.

That said, I can't remember if I did or not already, if not so..

You'd think. But it feels like since pro users so such a small part of roll20 that they might not.

If I want to move around my assets in roll20 I NEED a pro Account.  But then it's made so I can't view folders, thumbnails, nothing when moving them. :'(
I just want to be able to move folders for ease of use. It'd save so much time.

Still need this. :'( I still cry myself to sleep after every game session I need to move something for the countless hours I waste with such a simple task
This should be a feature, same for module, you should be able to add more than one module to a game
April 09 (1 year ago)

+1 what the fuck r20 get on this

April 27 (11 months ago)

How is this still not a feature? What is the intended path for managing your games when you transition from one module to the next? Drag and drop dozens or hundreds of items one at a one and then have to also go and organize all of it? Seriously?

May 26 (10 months ago)
This would really help with long-running campaigns that span multiple modules

+1 This would make managing content so much easier, which would make DM:s more inclined to expand their available content, which would drive marketplace sales. Please r20 make it happen! :)

TBH I'm not really sure at this point why they're so stubborn to implement it at this point. They very much could. and Fairly easily. It'd be wonky from what i can tell but again everything on roll20 is pretty wonky so we'd accept it i'm pretty sure lol.

No response for almost a year. I don't understand why roll20 finds it so hard to communicate with their paying customers. If it is obstructed due to a system overhaul or they don't find value in providing it right now. They should communicate that. Not responding just makes customers feel like they are being ignored and what they feel will improve their experience does not matter. I understand not being able to respond to every suggestion. But clearly people want this and it has some traction.

I tend to separate my campaigns into multiple games, as the story progresses. It helps to keep games running smoothly and not get overloaded. Along with giving me a good opportunity to try new features, such as Jumpgate. Instead of being able to setup my games how I want them, I have a mule game that I store common things in and have to transfer as things are needed, because it is such a pain to transfer things I might need at some point. Such as spell templates.

Well The best way is to msg them directly if you want direct answers.

Hey Folks,

So... I have some news. We just closed our sprint where we were working on this feature. We tried out a few different solutions. We are currently worried that we will not be able to solve this in a way that makes it intuitive to use. We're still looking into it.

As we do, I'd love to talk with some of you about what we have so far to get your feedback. If you're interested, here's a link to my calendar where you can setup a time for us to chat that works for you.

https://calendly.com/acsearles/transmogrify_folders

Andrew was really chill to talk to and gave some good answers. Maybe he can shed some light on this again?
I am gen worried that this whole thing got left behind. Or if they plan on implementing with the new jumpgate etc it would be nice to hear some feedback.

July 30 (8 months ago)

I can understand directly messaging them, but that only provides information to one person. Which is different then providing updates to the user base on a request that many people want. Why not update the thread? Why should customers have to reach out for communication about the status of a request? They should be updating requests. Or provide access to a proper request board. Maybe there is one and I am not aware of it?

I agree. But the squeaky wheel gets the grease you know? They seemed like they cared enough at first. And i've seen it working so i'm just kinda perplexed.
My best guess is they might just have too much on their plates to concentrate on this one thing atm.
Again it'd be nice to have some basic feedback though for some insight.

wow 8 years we been asking for this... :(

I am holding off on buying the PHB 2024 until we have a better idea of what changes Roll20 makes. I am treating it like a refresh and it will be a good time to look at alternatives. I like Roll20, but their lack of communication and implementation of logical features, such as this, is frustrating and makes using the platform less appealing. Why can't I copy my folder from one place to another, you know a basic function of every folder management system. Along with their total inability to communicate with their customers. Private one on one meetings does not count as communicating with your customers. 8 years for a basic folder management process is crazy.
September 12 (6 months ago)

Same as the above. Will I continue with Roll 20, where I have played several games weekly for the last 4 years, or put my effort in to one of the others. Combined with the terribly disappointing "incentives" for buying the 2024 bundle for D&D, I am holding off until I know what will happen.

Nothing new to report, unfortunately. We're still at an impasse on the level of quality we want to release this with. Our quick solution for this seems to be a lot more complicated than we hoped for. As it stands today, we have a working prototype that allows you to move over the folder from one game to another but you can't see what is in that folder when you're in the Transmogrifier.

All I know is I have thousands of maps and Roll20 has given me the ability to put them in folders - on a game by game basis.

But refuses to give me the tool to move folders between games.

Trying to move hundreds of maps from game to game becomes a very chaotic mess without keeping track of what is attempted to be moved versus what actually moves. (moving things is not perfect either I would like to point out.)

I don't care if I can't see the maps in a folder when I go to copy it. I know what is in that folder. I just don't want to spend an hour trying to move maps and then reorder them into their proper place.

November 01 (4 months ago)

I need this badly. It would take many many hours for me to pull what i need from one game to another. I've got a whole big world, and my players might end up in a lot of different places where another group of players have visited - and I want to bring over all of my materials from the folder i keep on that location. It has NPCs, handouts, monsters, etc. Just finding them in the transmogrifier is a lengthy monotonous task, even though I have taken to putting special character at the front of file names to try to get them to group without the folder container. Roll20, i love your products - but please help!

November 02 (4 months ago)

I too need this still.

November 13 (4 months ago)

I really wish they'd let me transfer folders -__- each new game is such a chore.

November 17 (4 months ago)

This would be a vital gamechanger

November 19 (4 months ago)

Given this thread is 8 years old I really don't think this will ever be implemented! It would be REALLY nice to have and MAYBE they will implement it in the next 10 to 20 years when they finished everything else on their huge backlog... (D&D 2024; Dungeonscrawl; Demiplane; Jumpgate; ...)

It would seem they are leaving this in the dust for a min. Although, Again, I saw a working version. It wouldn't be hard for them to put out.

transmogrifier is so unwieldy to use as is. it needs to be upgraded. copying one item at a time is absolutely ridiculous.

December 04 (3 months ago)

Need this as a start, setting up new games is so much more laborious than it needs to be with APIs and character copying etc

While I appreciate that something is probably better than nothing, sometimes delivering a half solution can cause more problems than it solves.

Why was this not the attitude for the 2024 sheet?

Scrap the 2024 sheet and instead build a version of 2014 sheet for 2024 and the time saved will allow this to be sorted +1

January 22 (2 months ago)

This is so sad. I went to google to find out how to move folders, because obviously I can't be expected to move hundreds of things over one at a time, and found this. I honestly kind of regret paying for a subscription for so long now with all the cool stuff I want to use organized into my original game, that for some reason I can't transfer without wasting countless hours of my life and reorganizing. This is a big yikes from me.

February 16 (1 month ago)

I hope that once jumpgate is working proper can get someone back on this. Just bumping cus it's something i think about weekly.

Same. I just want to move thing around easily between games. :'(

+1 from me. I need to be able to move entire folders between games. This is, as far as I'm concerned as a client of Roll20, a top priority feature.

It really should be a top feature. It's the main reason i'm a pro member is so i can move assets. :/ I wish they'd try to do something with this again soon.
