Charactermancer (5e OGL) 1.0 Bug Report Thread

Was creating a Swashbuckler Rogue and leveling it up to 10 in the charactermancer. The uncanny dodge feature added to the sheet was mislabeled as a 'Metamagic'.
Moving report here: Loren the GM said: Error - hangs on character creation: Any Erina character hangs on Building Your Character, regardless of class or other options (it appears to be hanging very early in the process if the red bar is any indication). If I close the sheet and re-open the Charactermancer and run it again, it will process the build. Here is a link to my complete console log if needed: https://www.dropbox.com/s/702cjemgqo21utn/Error%20Log.txt?dl=0 I believe this is the relevant information from the log right after clicking on the Apply button to begin this process: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'toString' of undefined at Function.jqotenc (base.js?1557850056:20) at T.i.eval (eval at jqotec (base.js?1557850056:20), <anonymous>:3:447) at HTMLScriptElement.<anonymous> (base.js?1557850056:20) at Function.each (jquery-1.9.1.js:648) at jQuery.fn.init.each (jquery-1.9.1.js:270) at jQuery.fn.init.jqote (base.js?1557850056:20) at T.i.render (app.js?1557852742:552) at T.i.<anonymous> (app.js?1557852742:552) at T.i.trigger (base.js?1557850056:7) at T.i.change (base.js?1557850056:7) jqotenc @ base.js?1557850056:20 (anonymous) @ VM527:3 (anonymous) @ base.js?1557850056:20 each @ jquery-1.9.1.js:648 each @ jquery-1.9.1.js:270 jqote @ base.js?1557850056:20 render @ app.js?1557852742:552 (anonymous) @ app.js?1557852742:552 trigger @ base.js?1557850056:7 change @ base.js?1557850056:7 set @ base.js?1557850056:7 save @ base.js?1557850056:7 syncedSave @ app.js?1557852742:552 (anonymous) @ app.js?1557852742:561 app.js?1557852742:552 Really updating character sheet values app.js?1557852742:552 Setting up repeating sections took until 13ms app.js?1557852742:552 Finding list of dirty attributes took until 22ms app.js?1557852742:552 Querytest took until 31ms app.js?1557852742:552 Attribute cache compliation took until 31ms app.js?1557852742:552 FILLED IN A DEFAULT VALUE FOR global_save_mod_flag app.js?1557852742:552 FILLED IN A DEFAULT VALUE FOR global_skill_mod_flag app.js?1557852742:552 FILLED IN A DEFAULT VALUE FOR ac app.js?1557852742:552 FILLED IN A DEFAULT VALUE FOR global_attack_mod_flag app.js?1557852742:552 FILLED IN A DEFAULT VALUE FOR global_damage_mod_flag app.js?1557852742:552 FILLED IN A DEFAULT VALUE FOR global_ac_mod_flag app.js?1557852742:552 Set values (including auto-calcuating variables) took until 45ms app.js?1557852742:552 Took 47ms app.js?1557852742:552 Really updating character sheet values app.js?1557852742:552 Setting up repeating sections took until 8ms app.js?1557852742:552 Finding list of dirty attributes took until 18ms app.js?1557852742:552 Querytest took until 21ms app.js?1557852742:552 Attribute cache compliation took until 22ms app.js?1557852742:552 FILLED IN A DEFAULT VALUE FOR rtype app.js?1557852742:552 Set values (including auto-calcuating variables) took until 26ms app.js?1557852742:552 Took 28ms app.js?1557852742:552 Really updating character sheet values app.js?1557852742:552 Setting up repeating sections took until 6ms app.js?1557852742:552 Finding list of dirty attributes took until 21ms app.js?1557852742:552 Querytest took until 27ms app.js?1557852742:552 Attribute cache compliation took until 27ms app.js?1557852742:552 Set values (including auto-calcuating variables) took until 36ms app.js?1557852742:552 Took 38ms 5VM12:904 UPDATING SKILLS app.js?1557852742:552 Really updating character sheet values app.js?1557852742:552 Setting up repeating sections took until 6ms app.js?1557852742:552 Finding list of dirty attributes took until 8ms app.js?1557852742:552 Querytest took until 11ms app.js?1557852742:552 Attribute cache compliation took until 12ms app.js?1557852742:552 Set values (including auto-calcuating variables) took until 18ms app.js?1557852742:552 Took 19ms Erina Race Ability Score Increase should only allow a choice of Wisdom or Charisma. All options other than DEX are available. Keen Senses (proficiency in Perception) not reflected in Race options, and does not get added to sheet. Forest Dweller Background: Not adding Tool Proficiencies (Nature, Survival) Not adding Language (Sylvan) No place to roll for the Life Changing Event - could this be rolled and added to the Bio section of the sheet somewhere? (I understand this may be a limitation of the Charactermancer, not a bug) Similar to the previous item, can there be a way to select which Variant you wish to use? Alseid Race Darkvision not added Piney Race Speed is not added to the sheet The Underfoot Roguish Archetype Level 3 Cantrip selection is currently for 3 cantrips. Shillelagh is a required cantrip but it is not forced, and there is no indication on the spell selection page that this is an archetype feature rather than an option spell. "Level undefined" with a checkbox for " Category:Spell s Name:" is shown below the Level 1 spells selection box. When learning Level 1 spells, 2 of the spells available should only be from the Divination or Transmutation schools. Is there a way to show this on the Charactermancer? Future spells learned at higher levels all must also be from these same schools. Perhaps not a bug, just limitation currently on Charactermancer? No spellcasting ability is assigned on the sheet - it should be Wisdom Cleric - Hunt Domain Level 1 Proficiency with Martial Weapons not added to character sheet. Wizard - Courser Mage Level 2 Stalking Savant doesn't add Stealth proficiency to the sheet. These are the only things I have caught thus far, but I have not played with any of the other class options yet. Will post more if I find them.
Pete D. said: I ran into the same situation as we are using the Charactermancer for the FIRST time. What I figured out is it gets "stuck" at 90% if you have the character window "outside" the Roll20 tab as a seperate window. Go into the settings screen on Roll20 and "uncheck" the "Use Window popouts for characters" feature. Once I did this I opened the character again, clicked back into the Charactermancer, and arrived in the REVIEW tab with all the selections already done, clicked "Apply Changes". Hope this helps! Game on dudes :) This fixed my problem, 100%. Thanks Pete!!

Is anyone having trouble with charactermancer? I am trying to create a wizard and it does not give me any spells to choose from...all the drop down say "choose" and that's it. I have filled out race, class, background and abilities. It has happened in two different games of mine and does not matter what race or class I choose...also tested with cleric. Also, if I skip the spell choosing and do it manually, I cannot use charactermancer to add levels....it's like it cannot detect the current level. Am I the only one? Thanks, Bill

Thanks, Bill Hey Bill, You are not the only one, as i was experiencing this last night with my group as well. We were making a fresh game, and none of my spell caster could choose spells. So i tried putting them in manually my self by dragging and dropping the spells from the PHB to their sheet. It would work for 5 mins, but then it would delete them all and not save. Can we confirm if this is a bug or not, and if there is a fix yet? Hello Bill W. and Bacstabath, This is a known issue and has been reported in the new thread for Charactermancer issues, D&D 5E by Roll20 Sheet v. 2.7 (Q2Y2019) . Please follow that thread for updates. Thanks!
Saw the following error when selecting the "Character Sheet" tab in a monster. Happened on multiple monsters. System: Browser: Firefox Quantum 67.0.1 (64bit) Windows 10 (64-bit) Extensions: None enabled
FYI it doesn't seem that 5th edition monk at character creation is correctly adding one tool proficiency in chosen artisan tools. Probably pretty minor, but I'll be a carpenter if it kills me! :P Just a heads up for completeness sake. Cheers!
Last week I was trying to level up my bard to level 6 and additional magical secrets did not let me select any spells for the class section of my leveling process, nor was it possible to select spells outside of the bard class in the spell portion of the charactermancer flow.
So my charactermancer broke and I cant do anything, I tried getting out of it by pressing back and cancel but neither button works. Anyone got any suggestions? Or is there a moderator here that can just put the character back into the game? Its in my vault so if thats possible that would be great, I only have 1 game so it couldnt have come from anywhere else, or is there a person with a game i can export the character to and just use that to copy the information so I don't have to find all of the homebrew all over again?
Hi. I'm trying to navigate the charactermancer and help my players navigate it as well. Are there any books supported now besides XGE and GGR? I had a local game that I'm having to move online. One character is Aarakocra, and another is Goliath. I can't find the elemental evil players companion so i'm guessing the Aarakocra is a no-go. But the goliath would be in volo's guide. If I got volos guide would that allow my player to make a goliath in the charactermancer?

Yes, the Goliath is in Volo's As far as I know, the currently supported books are: PHB Volo's Guide Mordenkainen's Tome Acquisitions, Inc.* Ghosts of Saltmarsh* Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica Tales of Old Margreave† Midgard Heroes Handbook† * These are more campaign sourcebooks and do not add as much new character building material as other WotC offerings. † These are Kobold Press, and probably not Adventurer's League compatible, also are more campaign-specific.

One bug i noticed all the newly created characters start with 0 gold. Second issue lvl9 is the max you can do for a mage. Tested on the War Mage from XGE. Once u reach level 10 it is just stuck, seems like Durable Magic Class feature is way too much for it to handle, I tried to avoid the spell section to go straight to the end... but to no avail. Note if u add level 10 manually, u can level to 11 no problem
I've also noticed that the paladin subclass oathbreaker isn't included in the charactermancer. I also have everything except guildmasters guild to ravnica, i don't know if it was an over sight because this is included in the dmg on page 97 soo whats the deal?

As you say, the Oathbreaker is in the DMG. The DMG has not been released yet on Roll20, so it is not an option yet in the Charactermancer.
WHERE ARE THE BACKGROUNDS? Acolyte? only one? The PHB SRD or whatever you want to call it has more than one. Staff member after staff member keeps stating that it uses the PHB - then where are all the options? If it is limited - where is that stated? So far Roll20 is a huge miss that has been glazed over by people who have too little spine to tell you that its TOO complicated. To the uninitiated this is a HUGE intimidating timesink and it is not "Easy to use" which is a terribly overly used, EXTREMELY subjective term to use. I am tech savvy and I am telling you - its NOT "easy" at all. It is hours and hours of learning, your tutorial is over an hour long and broke 3 times while I was on it, so I still do not know all the functions; and since I do not have yet another hour to pour through the tutorial, I will try to "wing it", get angry and then disappear. Sadly, you guys have a great idea. Like so many great concepts however, your execution is poor (I know its a cash thing). But stop glazing it over with marketing jargon like "easy to use" - you do not have a clue who your user is - how would you know? Second, if you are not using the complete SRD (whatever that is) - stop insinuating that you do. At the very least be truthful, don't BS your users into falsehoods. First, fix your tutorial second, explain the character creation area better (You only have one background choice). I do not know how to get the rest of the backgrounds - again not explained anywhere I can find. I assume I would have to buy something, but then again I assumed this would be "easy to use." If you cannot make an interactive tutorial that takes less than an hour - then make a VIDEO of the master developer using the system while your best "explainer" narrates. All of these little failure erode trust and they erode it with your largest market - the hesitators and the newbies; and while you may not be able to afford a fleet of coders to work for free and fix all the bugs, effort and trust building are FREE through honesty and simplicity!

I won't touch on the ease of use, that's probably best approached by a dev. I can address the backgrounds and hopefully demystify the situation. SRD = System Reference Document. This is issued by a game company (other companies besides Wizards of the Coast have them). These are the "free rules" that have a subset of the company's rulebooks. In the case of D&D 5e, there is only one background. There is also only one feat. The same is true if you were to access the SRD via any other legal source. The SRD also has a subset of monsters, classes, spells and so forth. PHB = Players Handbook. These are the rules as sold by Wizards. They contain all of the base classes, spells, feat, backgrounds and so forth. If you want to use these in Roll20 (without typing them in on your own), it requires the purchase of said book. This is also true of other legal sources. In short, if you haven't purchased anything, you only get the freely-released things. None of these terms, conditions, or concepts were created by Roll20; they are industry-standard language. The term SRD has been around since the release of D&D 3.0, nearly 20 years ago.
Hello Zaximus, I am sorry that you have encountered some frustrations with the use of Roll20. Please note, that the issue you are having with lack of content is due to the "free content" being the content released in the System Resource Document . As such, Roll20 does not have any control over the content available in the SRD. In regards to your other concerns, I have gone ahead and passed them along to the devs. We thank you for letting us know your concerns.
Hi Zaximus, we appreciate you posting your concerns. We’re aware that the tutorial in it’s current state isn’t serving the majority of our users who would benefit from it, and it’s something we have planned to work on. Some folks have expressed this video done by our DM in residence, Adam Koebel, has been helpful to them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djT-5NN5kd0&t=260sPerhaps you might find it more helpful? We appreciate your patience with this as we work to make Roll20 the best VTT out there. If there’s anything else you would like some clarification on, please don’t hesitate to let us know at Team@Roll20.net .
In charactermancer, you can get the same personality trait twice, if you manually select the first one and then roll for the second one. If I roll for both they never get the same, and if I pick both manually you cannot pick the same.
I have charactermancer enabled but when I give a player a Character sheet it just automatically gives them a level 1 sheet instead of going straight to charactermancer.

Hello Hai - Are you still experiencing this issue? To confirm, we were aware of this problem and released a fix yesterday that should have addressed it.
I've noticed an error where Rouge Arcane Tricksters are allowed to pick multiple spells that they shouldn't be able to choose from. Specifically spells not in the "Illusion" or "Enchantment" schools of magic.
My charactermancer is still hanging up on the "Building your character..." stage of things. The red bar gets to about 95% full and then freezes. I've tried leaving it for up to 30 mins. and it still won't go. I close the character sheet, open it back up, then it's mostly done but misses things like background, character traits, and some skills I've selected.

Do you have the character sheet popped out into a separate window? That is not supported by the Charactermancer at this time, and generally results in the behavior you are describing.
Hi there, sorry if this has already been brought up but I didn't see it in the known issues section. When clicking the "i" information button on the Spell slide of the charactermancer, it doesn't seem to bring up any information in the right-hand section. In fact, it doesn't seem to do anything at all. I've tested this with all my browser extensions disabled, as well as with a clean install of firefox with the same results.

Me and my friends have been having trouble getting the charactermancer to work at all. It won't launch when we click on it, and personally I am a bit tired of having to level up manually. Has anyone else had this problem and/or know how to solve it?

Please note that the campaign must be using a Charactermancer enable character sheet and the campaign's settings need to also have the Charactermancer enabled. The campaign's DM/creator will need to verify these settings. Thanks!

Hi Matthew T. - Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce this issue on my end. Can you further describe how you are producing this issue? Is this occurring in the level 1 Charactermancer, the level up Charactermancer, or both? Also, just to clarify, have you selected a spell in the dropdown before clicking the "i" information button? Nothing will display on the right-hand side unless a spell has been selected. If you did select a spell, what did you select? Any additional information provided is greatly appreciated.

I can reproduce. It is on Level Up , not Level 1 . When you are first creating a character, spells are selected by drop down, and clicking the "i" button displays the spell details on the right hand side. When using Level Up, the interface changes. Spells are displayed with a list of names and check buttons, not as a drop down. Regardless of whether a spell is selected or not, clicking the "i" button next to its name does nothing to the display on the right hand side. It has been this way for as long as I can remember.

It works just fine in the level 1 Charactermancer where there are dropdown menus, but when leveling up, and the spell selection is replaced with a checklist, the info icons (like in the image below) seem to do very little. Also occasionally the text on the page is replaced with Wingdings or something similar. Not so much an issue, but definitely perplexing.
Hi, I have two issues with creating a monk: The first is the same issue that John A. posted on June 24th of not being given the option to select an artisan tool or musical instrument proficiency at character creation. The second one is that the monks starting Darts do not populate in the attack field or as a resource. Thanks
I think I found a bug. I created a goliath paladin with the charactermancer. I added a Belt of Dwarvenkind from the compendium. That item increases your CON score by 2. Now each time I level up the character with the charactermancer, the CON score increases by 2 when it shouldn't. The CON increase isn't shown on the Review screen at the end of the Charactermancer Level Up. e.g. Character has a CON score of 14. That's 16 with the belt. After the Charactermancer completes, the character has a CON score of 16, and 18 with the belt.
Charactermancer does not allow ranger to swap spells when leveling to level 6
