Session 416  Thinnie’s Itchy Ears Played November 5 2020 Played: Alaric; Brecht Cleric, Level 1 (Joseph Q) Astrid Brandiar; Hanner Sidhe Paladin, Lvl 6 (Kristen B) Cedrych Brightbough; Sidhelien Vampire Rogue/Warlock, lvl 16 (Adam B) Darvius Alandre; Sidhelien Monk, lvl 17 (Darvius) Glenn Sturgis, Rjurik, Cleric, 15 (Spynx) Jonathan Cashmere; Drow Sidhelien Bard, lvl 7 (Jack B) Sithric Grimhidsson; Hanner Sidhe Fighter/Rogue. Lvl 14 (Deprated Lunatic)   For the past several seasons, I have attempted to gather a group to go aid Thinnie against her multitude of foes, that had decided to attack her lands.  However, this time my call had been answered, and finally we would be traveling to see what could be done to aid Thinnie. After explaining the situation, we gathered some supplies and departed for Urg-azi. Fortune favored our voyage and travels and we arrived in Thinnie’s court without incident. Outside of the main tower we observed a gathering of Chic- chics. Inside the Court Thinnie is being spoken too by a blue skinned Sidhelien with white hair. Thinnie looks quite relieved when she sees me, and soon we are introduced to Rionach Ni Cearbhallain. I inquire what is going on as I stride up and stand beside Thinnie’s throne. We discover that Rionach is there to offer Vassalage to Thinnie and her Kingdom, to the elves of the Coullabhie. After some discussion and hearing of the offer of vassalage and the offer of letting Thinnie become Hanner Sidhe, I give Thinnie some council and we determine that this offer will likely be Thinnie’s best option to protect her people. Rionach tells us that she will return to her Mistress and inform her of Thinnie’s decision and would return in a weeks’ time. We decide to scout what the human invaders are doing in Thinnie’s lands, while we await the return of the Sidhelien. We travel through the forests and make camp for the evening during the night we see a glow coming from the entrance near the mountain pass. We decide to investigate.  It is discovered that the humans have clear cut a large section of ancient sidhelien forests, and that they have taken on many slaves to do their work. I can sense that the Forest is crying in pain and agony. We set a plan to disrupt the camp and put an end to the forest culling. Cedrych and I circle the camp to assault the command tent, while the others will attack from the north and try to free the captives. Cedrych tries to dominate one of the guards. However, it does not work. Cedrych talks quickly as more guards come up to him. He lures two of them away with his charms, and begins to feed off one of them? The other breaks his charms and begins shouting vampire! Vampire! Not the disruption I had planned, but I can work with it. I begin to stride confidently into the camp as the guards stir to action. To the north of the camp I hear a loud roar and a bestial voice shouting about the anger of the Forest. As the guards try to intercept me, I avoid their movements with my swift feet and aura of peace. They are not able to bring any attacks against me as I stride towards the tent. They move to block the entrance as I move to the side of the tent, I calmly declare to them “You do realize this is a tent?” I draw out the Crescent Moon Blade and easily slice a straight line down through the tent. Inside the tent I see a noble lady being served by some female servants, she is in the middle of a bath. I calmly walk up to her tap her on the temple and disrupt her Ki, I then declare to her “Good Morning my Lady, I will now require your surrender.” She inquires who I am and I inform her, soon she is shouting to her men to lower their weapons that they are to surrender. We discover that she is Hedda Jharvild, Daughter of Jarl Jharvild. We gather up her men and disarm them, and prepare to escort her, her men, and the freed slaves. Glenn and her strike it off, as she is also fond of cookie recipes. I believe Cedrych was a bit Jealous. As we arrive back at Thinnie’s Domain, Rionach has already returned. Rionach demands that all the humans be killed. Thinnie reminds us that she is still in charge, she searches through Hedda’s mind. It is determined that some of the humans will be executed at the ceremony of the Hanner Sidhe, some will be released to Hjolvar, and that some who have Elven blood will serve Thinnie. Hedda herself will stay and work off her debt in Thinnie’s bakery. Soon we depart towards the Lluabraight we arrive at a mystical place and are introduced to Grand Mistress Llaeddra Siannodenel. After introductions the ceremony is prepared, and the executions are prepared. Glenn, Reyna, and Thinnie are accepted as Hanner Sidhe. As the humans are executed, we can sense some peace restored in the forest. We discuss some matters with the Grand Mistress including the Moon Cult she states, “They seem to be connected to the void of space that lies above this land.” The Mistress asks Glenn about Cedrych, soon she uses her magic to create a deep cover of shade, allowing Cedrych to come out of his bag. Cedrych works to convince her that he still serves the Sidhelien, she does not seem convinced, but she does not slay him. Some more discussions about recent events in the land, and Glenn is invited to join the Grand Mistress as she sets up wards through Thinvasxea’s lands and I decide to join them as well. Thinnie talks bout how her ears are itching, and finally the Grand Mistress declares that Rionach will serve as Thinnie’s advisor at first she seems a bit surprised, but accepts the station with grace. Session 420 (Special Mission): My Bad, To Put It Bluntly (AKA Stuck In The Weeds) Expedition Members: Jannis Fisker; Brecht Fighter, lvl 10 (Physh) Nousha; Tabaxi Monk, lvl 6 (Depraved Lunatic) "So...  um, where to start.  I think, oh yeah.  So the plan was to head out to this place called Inverness.  It was a keep.  No, wait, that was the Bindier place.  A tower, yeah, it was a tower!  We were going after a thing called the Soul Glow or some shite like that.  But the only Coho that showed up for the road trip was this crazy cat chick named Nousha.  She was, like, pretty green in the gills if you know what I mean, but proved to be, like, pretty good with a bow and whip.  Oh man, it was like the whip was her tail!  I am so blown away right now!  Any way, since everyone else, you know, bailed, we didn't have the resources to really, like, take on the tower?  So, instead we decided to go look for a lost Dwarven civilization...  Damn, I knew what it was called, but I can't remember.  Was my spear always that bright gold?  I thought it was duller than that.  It looks like the sun, man!  Every time I hurl it, it is like I'm throwing the sun!  Where did I put that sausage..." There appears to be a few oily stains on the pages, and the parchment smells like blood sausage. "So... ah.. The plan was to head out to this place called Inver... No, wait.  I covered that.  I think.  Oh yeah, we headed to Djafra to look for this ancient dwarf city or something.  After doing a quick tour of the markets, we headed...  South?  Or was it South East?  Somewhere in between?  Definitely in a southern direction towards the southern mountain range.  On the first day, we saw a carriage, but it was like being pulled by a pair of giant scorpions!  Man, I hate those things.  Nousha asked if we should high tail it, but I told her to... um, I told her to give it wide berth but like stick to the road still.  As it approached us it stopped.  The first thing I saw was her face, she was so beautiful...  Dusky eyes, like perfectly painted red lips, a sly smile...  then I saw her left arm was a scorpion claw and I was like NOPE.  Despite her arm, though, she was like totally cool.  She just asked for directions to Djafra, and I was all like, the city or province, because we were already like right in the middle of the province, but she said city so I told her to keep going north.  She then handed me a gold coin with images of scorpions on both sides.  As she turned to get into her carriage, I saw like this red and black scorpion tail under her skirts.  Can't say that was really a turn on.  Still, I don't know her intentions, but she should definitely someone the Cohort keeps an eye on, either as an ally or a potential threat. We had, like, a LOT of small scorpions around the camp that night.  Maybe they were attracted to the coin?  Maybe the coin held them at bay?  Not really sure b..." More blood sausage stains. "Not really sure, but they didn't bother us really.  We got some really good sleep and kept moving at first light.  The third day  we saw less of the little scorps, but then the coin got all glowy for some reason. I flipped it in the air and caught it (awesome catch, btw), and while it was in the air, it was like it was a golden scorpion thing, but went back to being, like, a coin when it... um... landed on my hand.  So I did it again and let it fall, and when it touched the ground...  Like, wow.  It wasn't a coin, man, it was a giant scorp!  Wasn't aggressive toward us or anything.  It just like, stood there, and let me pet it.  After a minute, it went back to being a coin, but one of the scorpion images was missing now.  We know what that does now, right?  Wait... um, this was day two, not three. On day three, we entered the woods and made our way towards the southern tip of the mountain...  um, the mountain...  the mountains.  As we got ready to make camp for the night, we saw a campfire in the distance.  I tied up Franz, then Nousha and I snuck up to observe.  There was an Anuirean woman who was playing music and singing, and like three Khinasi guys dressed like mercenaries or brigands.  Hard to tell.  We, like, approached the camp?  At first they were all like, 'hey, we're here for the treasure so back off', and I was all like, 'what treasure, man, what are you talking about', and they were all like 'we followed this map and we're gonna get the treasure', and then I was like 'Oh man, you need us.  We're all badass and stuff, give us a share and we'll help',  and the Khinasi were all like 'who are you, man', but then the Anuirean woman was all like whispering in the leader's ear, and then he was like 'okay, man, we're cool'. I didn't really trust them?   But I knew we could handle them if they like tried to cause any hassle.  That evening, while Nousha was on guard duty, I got woken up by grunting, and yelling and stuff.  Totally ruined this really weird dream I was having about that scorp chick.  Anyways, I get out of my tent and Omar, Rashad, Cidro and Nousha were all fighting these things...  they were like clods of earth with feet and grass on top...  but they had big mouth, with sharp pointy teeth and they look all pissed off. We make pretty quick work of them, and then Faelen starts like gathering the grass from their heads, and I was like 'whaaaat?'.  And then she, like, took the grass and rolled it into a paper, and was all like 'smoke this, man', and I was like 'whaaaat?', but then I smoked it and it was sooooooooooooooooooo relaxing.  Really made me think about things, you know? In the morning I woke up, and they were ready to go, so we goed.  A stone stairway led up to a hill where a stone temple of some kind was standing.  It looked ancient.  Could this be the dwarf place?  Did we find it that easy?  Actually, no, it wasn't.  We got to the double doors and Cidro picked the lock.  He was having problems with the doors, so I opened them for him.  I'm pretty buff. I work out.  A lot. I mean, probably too much.  Like, I really haven't been doing much else ever since Selma left without saying a word.  I really liked her.  She was cute, and she had this impish smile.  That curly hair that always had a strand of curls hanging over her left eye.  And she was funny.  I mean, I think she was like funny.  We actually didn't talk that much?  But I bet she was funny.   So, like the door opened up to this foyer area that hung over a stream, but the walls had partially, like, fallen down, and the floor was broken with the stream exposed, and there was this tree, and this bird, and some crates.  The bird liked Nousha, so it followed her.  It was all golden, like my spear.  And the coin.  They were all gold.  The crates were all nasty with, like, water-logged and rotting foodstuffs.  Nousha found a piece of parchment.  She wasn't able to read it, so I was like, okay I can read it, and it said stuff about an expedition to this place, and still needing to find like some kind of secret.  We cross the stream to another set of double doors.  A pair of statues with some really weird looking big dogs, with horns, sat on either side.  Cidro got them open, and we entered, like,  another foyer with a large statue of some kind of crystal thing spewing water into a fountain. Other than that, the room was pretty empty.  There was, like, passages on the east and west walls.  We decided to head west, because, I mean, why not? After a short hallway it led us to this room.  It was creepy, man, like a whole coven kind of vibe.  There was a pentagram on the floor drawn in... blood?  paint?  From the décor, it was like, probably blood.  In the center was a cauldron of...  blood?  paint?  Wait, why would somebody have a cauldron of paint?  Oh, yeah, to pain the pentagram, duh.  Anyway, there was this alter, right?  With a skeleton chained to it, picked clean.  It looked fairly recent.  Some stairs led up to this weird looking alcove, and a desk with some like...  book... storage... things, to the south.  I took a look at the alter.  It was, like, totally an alter to The Shadow.  We search the south, and like, found a scroll.  The desk totally had some stuff recently removed from it, but I really couldn't, like, figure out what they were.   To the east we find an alter to the shadow with a corpse chained to it and bookshelves/desk.  In the desk, can tell some items have been taken recently.  Find a scroll of Banshee's Wail.  As we leave back down the hallway, these two things stared at us through the windows.  They kinda looked like those statues we saw out front.  No, wait, they were exactly like the statues out front!  We ignored them and as we passed they, like, somehow magically appeared in the hallway.  Had to be magic, way to big to fit through the windows, man.  They spoke in, like, this really old dialect of Basarji.  Like older than Korak old.  Anyway, they asked us why we came, and said they were ...  Hotdogs?  Mean, I could really go for some more blood sausage right now...  No, wait, HODOG. Yeah, that's it.  They were, like, the guardians or some shite. They tell us to go away, and I was all like, 'no way, man, make us.'  So we fought.  One of them let out this thunderous sound and like Omar was LITERALLY blown to pieces.  I'm pretty sure at least one piece of him, like, ended up in each corner of the foyer.  Cidro and I made pretty quick work of them, with help from Nousha on her bow.  Just before we killed the last one it was, like, summoning something?  That's what it sounded like.  We rushed back into the cauldron room, and sure enough, it was, like, doing something and the alcove started looking all weird.  Examining the pentagram, I was all like 'break the circle!'  So I grabbed my shield and started to scrape at the paint.  or blood.  Whatever.  The others joined in.  We didn't break enough to like totally stop the summoning, but only one of the two things we saw crawling out of the portal was able to make it.  Still shite. This gigantic spider with red and white markings and, like, human hands came through.  I rushed it and got a meaty blow on it before it cast darkness.  Cidro and I continued to fight it in the darkness, and Nousha was all like 'twang twang' with her bow.  We killed it, because we're awesome!  With that little silk shitter outta the way, we headed to the west room.  The hallway there was totally broken, man, exposing like a 10-15' drop off into the stream.  I leapt across first, breaking off a piece of the other side, like not cool man.  Then I threw my giant hair rope over to help the others.  Giant hair, that is so weird, man.  Like, why  isn't it oily?  Hair gets oily when you don't wash it, and like, the valley I got it from didn't really have water sources big enough for the giants to wash their hair.  I mean, do I need to wash the rope to prevent it from getting all like oily and shite? The others came across and we found some kind of like little throne room.  There was a skeleton, totally picked clean like the other one, sitting on the throne, with a great sword next to it.  There was a weapon rack, and a desk, and a table, and a bed... no, wait, was there a bed?  No, oh, dude, that's my bed!  Anyway, we search around.  We found a map like the one Faelen had, but like this one was newer and not as soiled.  There was a book of notes, talking about this thing called a Grimmlet...  I wonder if they taste like chicken?  No, they are crystals...  Probably tastes like salt or something.  The notes dealt with finding a grimmlet.  Another book, really old, like Korak old, was mostly ruined, but I was like able to read some of it.  There was a hand drawn picture of a grimmlet, it looked like that statue in the foyer.  It was from, like, the void or some shite.  Definitely magical.  The book was called 'Grimmlet...'  um, what was it.  Started with a C.  'Grimmlet Calibration'?  No, that's not it.  'Grimmlet Camouflage'?  'Grimlett Complacen...  Grimlett Construction', yeah, that's it.  All the weapons were of normal quality, so we didn't bother.  I'm not hauling a great sword around just to get like 10 GP.  There was a bag, though, on the floor, and it had, like, 600 gold stallions, so we took that.  There was a passage leading outdoors to the south, and on a small bridge I found another skeleton like the rest with a dragon bone spell book.  That was it for the structure, so we headed back to the foyer.  The second foyer with, like, the statue, not the first foyer with the tree, and the stream, and the bird, and the crates, and the other two statues.  I figured the statue either must have something inside it, or was hiding a secret passage.  I tried to find, like, runes, or a switch or something, but no dice.  So, like, I was all like 'let's destroy the statue', so then I like cast a pair of shatter spells on it.  I cracked it pretty good, but not like enough to use the hammer Nousha gave me to finish it off.  Not to worry, though, cause Faelen TOTALLY new shatter too?  I mean, like, what are the odds, man?  She cast two more, and the statue like totally broke apart.  I found a switch, and after Cidro triggered it, a secret door on, like, the north way totally opened up.  Called it!  As we headed north, I spotted four flagstones that didn't look right.  I told Cidro to check it for traps and Nousha went to help him.  I told them not to trigger it.  So what does Cidro do?  Like, he totally triggers it man.  Didn't I just tell him not to trigger it?  Wait, did I?  I think I did.  Maybe.  Definitely maybe.  They got blasted with really cold air.  They were both shivering but they, like, claimed they were good so we moved on. The next room revealed to us what this place really was.  Like, a mausoleum.  You know, where you stick rich people and shite?  There was a sarcophagus in the room, with paintings on all the walls telling, like, this story where this king, maybe an emperor or prince, hard to tell from paintings, I'll just say king, where this king had the grimmlets, and he was running around getting more 'cause he had to catch them all, and then totally used them for conquest.  Bad mojo.  It appeared these things were some kind of like powerful familiars.  Examining the stone casket and the paintings, I was totally able to tell this was the tomb of King Mer-amen... hehe, merman... some ancient pharaoh or shite like that. We were about to open the sarcophagus when this elf came up from behind us and told us to immediately leave.  Nousha and I went to talk to her.  She said her name was Helia...  helia hot, more like it!  We're just talking and getting to know one another when those kobold-heads opened the tomb.  This mummy, with words written all over his wrappings, like, pops out.  A grimmlet it has starts, like reproducing all over the place.  Like 12 of them.  I ran over and hit it pretty hard, and as I did so, Faelen read something she pulled from the tomb and activated the grimmlet inside.  I snagged it from her knowing she was up to no good, but the grappled me long enough for, like, the mummy to totally paralyzed me.  The others couldn't really hurt it, except for Nousha, who helped totally take it down, except that the thing also cursed me.  Not cool.  When I tried to move, usually I just stood there and did nothing, and when I did move, it was, like, really slow...  I was pretty much disabled for the rest of the battle, which was total shite because, like, I really could have helped after those dicks activated the grimmlet and tried to run.   We manage to kill Cidro, but Rashad and Faelen escape.  Noushea chases after the grimmlet, but it was, like, totally gone, having jumped into the stream.  Helia tried to break my curse, but she was totally not powerful enough to, like, break the curse.  We go back to the camp, and they are totally gone.  Left, like, everything behind, but took the horses.  Even Franz!  I loved that guy.  If you put honey on his gums, he would totally do this weird licking thing, trying to get it all...  He was a hoot.  But now he is, like, gone. We went back inside and got the wrappings off of King Merman.  They looked like a spell book, just a spell book that has been wrapped around like a totally crusty corpse for hundreds or thousands of years.  Maybe a million, that's what it smelled like.  We also found, like, 2,500 in gold and gems in a locked treasury in the back.  SCORE!  Dammit, where is that cheese?  I just had it, dammit, where th...  oh, there you are, my tasty little morsel!  Come to papa!  So, like, we went back to camp and examining the map it looks like they, like, started at a place in Binsada called Altaawus Alkabir (The Grand Peacock).  We also found another 600 golden stallion, some noble clothes, and an excellent quality lute.  The clothes didn't, like, have any emblems or sigils on them though.  Bummer.  These grimmlets are dangerous, and the one that escaped needs to be hunted down.  And, like, I totally need to get Franz back, man.  Heading back was slow.  With my curse I was like, totally, like unable to go very fast.  We made it 3 miles the first day, another 4 to get out of the woods on the third... no, wait, second day.  We spotted a caravan headed our way, and we were like 'man, hope they are friendly', and it was, like, totally cool 'cause they were.  We told them not to take the pass in the mountains, but the long way instead.  They sold us a draft horse, TOTALLY saved us, and we rode the rest of the way back to Djafra. So, in summation, grimmlets are bad.  One got loose.  It may or may not be with Faelen, I'm like 92%... no wait, 93%... um, 99% sure it is with her.  Need to form up a party to travel to Binsada to hunt her and the grimlett down.  And get Franz back.  I sure miss old Franz.  All in all, we scored like 5,575 GP in loot, plus Nousha got a future casting of Identify, the scorpion coin, and like 2 pearls.  Aside from my cut of gold, I got the scroll of banshee wail and three pearls.  Since the other jerks bailed, we only had to split it between Nousha and I.  Not bad for wandering randomly around the woods for a few days. Jannis "Flying High" Fisker P.S.  I like totally got healed by some greedy priests down in Djafra who removed my curse for me. P.S.S.  I totally need to find some more of this grass. P.S.S.S.  Bought a new horse, not as good as Franz."
Session 419: Conquest of King George's Castle, Part 1 Party: -Savas Al-Hadar; Khinasi, Fighter/Cleric, LvL 14 ( Physh ) -Aeferen Revven; Sidhelien, Ranger, LvL 12 ( SlothSlow ) -Aloise; Storm Maiden, LvL 0 ( Serephen ) -Green Knight; Fey, Paladin, LvL 8  (Hats4Cats ) -Eirena Lightshadow; Rjurik, Paladin, LvL 14 ( Depraved Lunatic ) We gathered at the Cohort Tavern to discuss another dive into another castle. Green Knight wanted to clear out a castle in the northern part of the Margreve in honour of his companion George. And with Revven, Aloise, my radiant Savas and myself, we had a solid group to tackle this task with. While Aloise seems to be new, I can tell now that she had no problems holding her own in the fights to come. Green Knight didn’t have a lot of information at hand. From what he knew, there was a number of water elementals present in that castle, which would try to dissuade our advance. Revven recommended the usage of “something that cools the blade”. Being non-direct about the blade-oils we desire is a trend that will continue going forward. We discuss the general plan, head to the Alchemist’s Guild, then start heading to the castle. Rather simple, really. While stopping by the Alchemist’s Guild, we were met with an acquaintance of Green Knight and mine, Mr. Robert. He remembered us from back in the day, when he had to lock his door up with 8 bolts simply to keep the shadow fey out of his 4 walls. I was glad to see he no longer required to do this. Green Knight traded some water breathing potions for his previous purchase and some other curios, Savas and I procured a cold blade oil. On our way to the castle, we decided to spend a night at the Birb’s Nest. Green Knight wanted to meet the Birb’s children and we figured that we might as well stay there. We were greeted by Alexi Gigglesplash, a… bird person. She’s as colourful as a parrot and a delight to be around. She has this energetic air around her that just makes you want to frolic around and so we invited her to sit and drink with us. We entered the tavern and met this… really strange person. He looked like a walking stalk of garlic. He peeled himself at times and offered it for eating. Said he ate so much garlic he turned into something himself. He read our fortunes and frankly, nothing good came of it. Before I could stop him, he had read everyone else’s fortune. Apparently, we were doomed from the start. He said he could change the future for his friends, so we went and… befriended him. The stench was horrible, but the garlic man seemed like good company, at the very least. We had some conversation about how he turned into garlic. While Alexi fell unconscious from her over drinking, he left us with the quote: “And never forget, you are what you eat!” We move on to get to know Birb’s kids. Very adorable little birdlings. Green Knight managed to grab one of Birb’s feathers from the ground and gave it to his owl. It soon changed shape and looked like a smaller version of Birb, which said Birb immediately added to her flock. Green Knight plucked a feather from Alexi, which woke and upset her and his owl turned into one of Alexi’s kind, claiming to have been cursed, then flew off…. *It took a while for the author to continue writing this log.* Anyway, we continued towards the castle. The journey there wasn’t anything worth mentioning, just a quiet stroll through the Margreve. However, we soon found ourselves at the doorstep of the castle we were about to claim for us. Green Knight informed us, that we weren’t here to conquer it in one swoop, which alleviated a lot of the pressure the missions I’m partaking in usually fall under. We approach and a fiery water elemental rose from the moat around the castle. Aloise says something to it in what I assume to be a sublanguage of the primordial tongue and it backs down, allowing us to pass without trouble. We enter into a hall with lots of statues of an icy dragon. I had only read of the boreal dragon in the logs and was slightly taken aback. What if it were to attack us here? But I was soon corrected, or at least distracted. We began surveying the area, entering rooms one by one, in good order. The first room we entered was some sort of armoury, as there were plenty of well-made weapons present, crafted with starmetal, a metal that is little known throughout Cerilia. Even I only learnt that it existed in the castle! Aloise looked to clear a path for us towards the other side of this armoury, investigating the magical circle inside of the water. But she was only met with armed force as a response. 3 people were captured in 3 frost golems, which are immune to… you guessed it, cold damage. Glad to know I made a wise investment. The ensuing battle was long, arduous and tedious, as we ultimately bested these golems. They tried pulling Savas and Green Knight underneath the water, but they managed to keep out of their grasp. We made sure not to maltreat these golems too much, as we didn’t wish to hurt the women inside. We freed them one after another and the battle was won. We didn’t really learn what they were, but they were very interested in the men of our group. My poor Savas was beet red through the entire interaction and those to come. One of the ladies even copied my appearance to sway him, but his iron resolve allowed him to persevere, while his words and actions make me realize again and again why I love this man so much. We continue our exploration to the next room. Savas disabled the arcane lock on the door and picked the padlock shortly after, which allowed us entry into the room of an extremely large whale. It’s an opera singer named Kembingur and invited us to listen to him, in exchange for us singing something for him. Green attempted to and was stopped by him rather quickly. However, that seemed to be enough for us to gain a private concert. It was a beautiful experience, listening to his song. Until Green Knight stopped him with his premature applause, it seemed like Kembingur was going to go on forever, so I’m glad at least someone got us back on track. There was little time to waste however. A ball-bearing golem rolled down the corridor, ready to strike us down. I readied myself for a tough battle, but Savas was one step ahead of me and just dispelled the magic of the golem. This allowed us to sack it and melt it back in the armoury’s forge. We speculate as to where it came from and if more were to come. Kembingur turned into the size of a goldfish and we promised him we would return him to the seas, eventually. But until then, he’ll have to wait for us to clear this out. Meanwhile, we continue our expedition deeper into the castle. Savas brazenly opens the next door and walks into the room of a red flamingo looking bird. We converse for a short time, until we tell it that we are here to clear this castle out. Then it begins to attack us, at which point we learn that this bird curses everyone that it harms or that harms it. Revven was subject to this, he had a hard time landing any hits after striking the bird twice. We quickly knock it out without subjecting ourselves to its curse and tie it up. In its room, we find some documents and evidence that this bird was something like a one-bird-crime-mafia. It would use its cursing to debilitate its target to such a degree that all they could do was sit and beg while it would steal everything it desired. What we learned from Alexi is that had we have killed the bird, we would’ve been cursed permanently, which was the main reason we refrained from killing it. Afterwards, we decided that we had seen enough of the castle for now. We had this crime-bird in tow and nowhere to store it. Green Knight, Aloise and Revven enjoyed a nightly date with the water ladies and we then parted ways with them. They expressed an interest to return to this castle once we had conquered it for the better king than its current ruler. We made our way to Zobeck and to it’s council. We presented the bird and while they were ridiculing us at first, the evidence and documents we laid in front of them got them into thought. We left the bird and documents with them and went on a short shopping trip. Then shortly after, we went our own ways once more, back home, ready to return soon to this castle. For now, Savas and I returned to our home in Binsada and I have to admit, this expedition felt like a proper adventure. Here’s hoping that I’ll get back pretty soon! -Eirena Lightshadow
Session 421 (Mission Special): The Asylum Demon Present: Luna - Level 10, Tabaxi Sorcerer/Rogue (Serephen) Lucan Yaeldrin - Level 11, Hanner Sidhe Wizard (Mekapix) Fenris Nathair - Level 10, Sidhelien Druid (Hats4Cats) HeN - Level 8, Awnshegh Ooze Fighter (Hazelchan84) Alvah Laurant - Level 11, An(t)uirean Sorcerer/Bard (Depraved Lunatic) Hedrin Toadslayer - Level 12, Dwerren Sorcerer (SlothSlow) Gathered up a group to go do more work for The Vampire. The intent was to improve our bargaining position on a deal I’ve been working out with her. The others were free to ask for their own rewards however. We had a chat with her over dinner (they didn’t have any fish, disappointing), and figured the ogrepede situation was the next best problem she had that we could help with. The Aurora Horribilis is still floating about, and she has a new issue - some moonkites have appeared and been killing undead and vampires. If some god did send them probably not our place to get on their bad side, I don’t need that kind of attention coming my way. The Vampire mentioned she’d learned a bit more about where the ogrepedes had been coming from. She’d somehow traced their movements back to an old asylum on a mountain top. The North-West-most mountain in the Vicissitude Mountains, in the region of Bloodshroud. We’d need to go through a teleporter to get to it and so far only one person had been brave/stupid enough to do so. Some human who really, really, really wanted to be a vampire and took this on as his proving trial. Alkavah sent him off with nothing but a spear, so he was almost definitely dead. We remembered just before we left to ask for magic access, and she remembered just before we left that there’s supposed to be an insanely powerful demon sealed in that asylum, possibly stronger than The Gorgon according to her. If we unleashed it, we’d be dead. On the way up we ran into a gold bird. HeN spoke to it in Celestial, then it started speaking in all our heads. We all started speaking in each other’s heads too. It was real uncomfortable. The bird said it was debating whether it had to summon the moonkites to kill us or not, since some of us ‘smelled bad’ and others didn’t. A moonkite turned up, silvery ball thing with a bunch of wings. Apparently there were ten more on the way, so we tried to convince this bird we didn’t need to be wiped out or anything. Eventually it decided to let us go. It said its name was Labbiel, an aviere - some kind of god familiars, and that the moonkites served Halaïa. We cleared out before it changed its mind. After another day or so and some people questioning my directions we made it to the right mountain. Found a crazy magic circle portal thing partway up the cliffs. Looked like a big cog with four smaller cogs around it. After a quick look we figured the central cog was marked like a clock face and the smaller ones were marked 1, 2, 3, and 4. We moved them around to the right clock face positions and the portal fired up. Easy. We hopped through and found ourselves in a jail cell. Not sure what I was expecting. Before I could even react, HeN just walked straight through the bars. Must be nice being an ooze person. Dunno if I could live like that full time though. Before I could even reach for my picks to get the rest of us out though some guy with a spear appeared at a grate over our cell and dropped us a key. Somehow, some way, that guy Alkavah sent in before was still alive, though he’d apparently only been out of his cell for like 10 minutes, so I figured it was just a matter of time. We made a point to check the magic in that place, it was super contested by someone with an ambient of 8th circle and a maximum of 10th. Anyway we got out of the cell, no thanks to that one guy since I didn’t need his help. There was some sound of huge, heavy footsteps and someone banging on cell bars up ahead, so we tried to be quiet going forward. All the cells were full of undead, just kind of sitting there blankly. We came up to a viewing platform though and saw the stomping thing. A massive… thing. Body like an ape, head like a boar covered in green fire. Lucan recognised it and said its name was Mechuiti. Like Alkavah said, it was a powerful demon lord, capable of immoloating opponents. It can also speak to monkeys, which is… useful? We made damn sure not to piss it off or draw its attention in any way and kept on forward. Fenris spotted something in a pool of gross water and we fished it out. A vial of holy water. Useful, but not exactly a payday. We went up a stupid tall ladder and carried on til we heard the sound of a rolling boulder and a big crash up ahead. We moved up and saw a room that’d been smashed open, that guy from earlier was sat in the corner bleeding out. He started giving us a speech about how he wasn’t gonna make it, before Alvah healed him and he stopped being a drama queen. He said he was going to give us his healing potions, but now that he wasn’t dying he could keep them himself of course. I think I blew his mind when I asked why he didn’t just drink one when he thought he was going to die. He said he got caught out by that rolling boulder we heard, and I was halfway through berating him for it when the two people behind me got hit by another one. Way to make us look professional guys. Fenris went out to have a look around and got shot by some undead, but they didn’t take much to deal with. We had a bit more of a look around. The guy Hubert pointed out one direction which just had a whole bunch of undead which had nearly shot him to bits. So we went up the stairs where the boulders had come from. This led to a long corridor with more undead shooting at us. We dealt with them and I figured it might be worth checking out their gear. I’ve heard zombies and stuff normally only have terrible equipment, but these ones had high quality weapons and arrows made of adamantine. Payday. We went around another corner and ran into a couple of undead knights riding weird horses. Fenris went in and got himself paralysed, but with a liberal application of magic we managed to get in and help him out before anything terrible happened. The knights had some equally nice gear on them, including sets of full plate armour. There was one more door on that floor, but Fenris was a bit too beat up to feel comfortable. He was halfway through trying to bully Hubert out of his potions when Lucan offered to use a spell he’d made a while ago after watching how efficiently I rest. It gives you a full night’s rest in just 10 minutes, super useful. Those that needed rest sat down to nap while the rest of us stayed watch. A few minutes in some weird fairy-looking thing appeared. It was hyper, and flew about between us, telling Hedrin and Lucan that it knew their secrets. Eventually it remembered it actually had business with it, was supposed to carry a message from Labbiel. She’d decided not to kill us yet, but that didn’t extend to those of us with ‘bad blood’, so I figured best avoid running into her again unless we wanted to fight. Once people woke up we opened up the last door and saw an ogrepede stomping around on the floor below. We all got ready, then caught it off guard and jumped down on it. I gave it my best assassination tricks, Hedrin turned into some crazy lizard that looked like Alia’s giant cousin, Fenris turned into a bird again and pecked at it, HeN popped out some blood-red wings and decked a couple of its faces with her hammers, Lucan turned a big chunk of it to dust, Alvah copied Hedrin and bit chunks off it. The thing took a while to die, knocked Alvah out of her spell, but it didn’t get a chance to recover enough to hit us with its full force. Flawless. Definitely wouldn’t want to deal with one of those in a straight-up fight, but then again people who prefer straight-up fights with anything that strong are morons. We had a look around, found a bunch of emeralds and Lucan found a fancy ring beside some graves written in Midgardian, a language from some weird land far to the North. Between Hubert’s scouting and our exploring we figured we’d cleared the place out of anywhere the ogrepede’s creator might be, but no sign of him. Just more undead and that one demon lord we wanted nothing to do with. We opted to head back and see if this much was good enough for Alkavah. As we were stood on the cliff wondering how to get down this massive white bird appeared and snatched us all up. Flew us for like a full day to some huge forest and dropped us down by its nest. Fenris spoke to it, apparently its name is Birb, and it offered us a ‘special’. Apparently its nest is full of treasure and we got to root around and take one thing. We found some real nice pieces of armour and weapons, but settled on some plate armour that looked like something out of a legend. The bird didn’t know much about that place, it just happened to be in the area and snatched us on a whim. Birb nudged us to go into the tavern next to its nest and have a drink. After that, I needed one. Now to wait for the next ship back to Cerilia… How long could that take?

Session 427 (Special Mission): [Tarkal Deeps] Part 1 Played on the 13th of November 2020! Present: Darvius Alandre; Sidhelien Monk, lvl 18 (Darvius) Dragomir Black; Vos Sorcerer/Warlock, lvl 19 (Hats4Cats) Jani Fisker; Brecht Fighter, lvl 11 (Physh) Korak Flomhelm; Dwerren Cleric/Fighter, lvl 18 (SlothSlow) Lyla; Half-Fey Sorcerer, lvl 7 (Serephen) Takumir Jachral; Brecht Fighter/Wizard, lvl 8 (Depraved Lunatic) Aye so this has been kinda dull because it's all Dwerren stuff but at least Korak is happy. Not sure why he cares so much about his past family, I don't know really anything about mine and even if I did what difference does it make? Isn't it more important to think about who you are now and not what the others did? You cant do anything about that. Well because we were going to Tarkal Deeps we headed to Proudglavie where we spoke with the Empress there. I'm not sure if she is claiming to be the Empress or is the empress but she was fine with us going back to the Tarkal Deeps as long as we did not let anything out. Lyla was busy getting herself dessert from the tables when I was asking about the gem. I really need to think about what I want because I keep getting asked and I have no idea. She offered me a really nice cloak for it, it seemed practical but yeah I’ll think about it.  Well for someone really wanting to get back to Tarkal, Korak was doing everything in his power not to go there. He didn't even know the way to it! The travel was peaceful enough, on the first night we got watched by a group of elves over by a river. On the second day, some crazy hats that like to wear beasts came to our camp. Once they control a beast they pretend to be druids and can cause quite a bit of trouble. I’m trying not to get directly involved in all the issues of the world. The Kallanon made it clear about balance and I have to agree, trying to fix every issue would cause more trouble than it's worth so we kinda have to be responsible. The hat beast bird demanded two coopers which I gave and then cast a sleep spell which I might have acted to fall asleep too. It's fun to play along. Korak convinced the hat birds to fly off to the Margrave to meet Cordi, they said they would but if they made it there would be a different story.  The third night brought a lovely winged dog, it said it was a servant of Ruornil and it was happy we got the hat things to leave. It offered to help us which was really nice. Korak just scratched and rubbed its belly and before long it was just having a lovely time. We arrived at Tarkal deeps the next day and ran straight into a strange lady hiding inside the caves. She looked like she was cursed by Azari but was far too on edge. We just left her alone but did offer to help her. She wasn't interested. Some boulders were blocking the entrance but they were completely hollow inside.  Past the boulders was a strange rat creature that spoke deep speech inside our heads, or that is what Darvius called it. It wasn't happy about us wanting to move forward, we didn't want to fight it but it came at us. I didn't see much of the fight because I had to get Lyla out too safely but after it died Korak looked more like Korat. Grey skin and his nose, jaw, and eyes all looked really rat like. He already has the bloodmark of Azari and now he was looking like a rat monster. Darvius gave him some water to reduce the visual effects but he really needs to stop soon otherwise might become something worse.  We entered into the Tarkal Deeps and saw the heavy golem hydra creature moving around. We spend some time looking around and messing around with the gears. This was all well and good until the pipes started sounding like they were going to blow. Steam was filling the area and we could barely see. I tried my best to give us some better vision. We found the metal dogs that were running around but they just ran into these trap blades on the floor and got torn to pieces. With them out of the way we continued looking. They found a picture of his giant metal man with a shield that apparently they made. Like I think they called it the angel of death. Korak then thought it would be a great idea to walk into the metal blades on the floor and almost lost his leg. After this point, he could barely walk but he’s tough. Anyways we moved on until finally, we had to face the Hydra.  That thing was tough but thanks to Lyla’s bees and Darvius they made really short work of it. I didn't feel like anyone was in any real danger, well maybe Jani but I was keeping my eye on him just in case. This place was only a five-zone and my hope of it opening up with the Hydra defended were looking slim. Lyla spoke with some mushrooms and told us there is a temple further down and might be what we were looking for. After this, I just looked over the Hydra why everyone was napping but Lyla wandered off and I found her missing legs. Thankfully Korak was able to get them reattached and I kept a very close eye on her after that.  We found all the valves and calmed the whole place down, why were we turning this thing on? No idea. I don't even think Korak knew why we were turning all stuff on, maybe when you see something turnable you turn it and find out what it does? Like that aside we also found a bunch of gems and gold which made Nalu very happy. We collected everything we could and then looked to move further in.... Drago & Nalu Cohort

Session 430 (Special Mission): [Tarkal Deeps] Part 2 Played on the 15th of November 2020! Present: Darvius Alandre; Sidhelien Monk, lvl 18 (Darvius) Dragomir Black; Vos Sorcerer/Warlock, lvl 19 (Hats4Cats) Jani Fisker; Brecht Fighter, lvl 11 (Physh) Korak Flomhelm; Dwerren Cleric/Fighter, lvl 18 (SlothSlow) Lyla; Half-Fey Sorcerer, lvl 7 (Serephen) Takumir Jachral; Brecht Fighter/Wizard, lvl 8 (Depraved Lunatic) Jonathan Cashmere, Drow, Bard, lvl 7, (PacJack) Like we were all ready to move into the deeps but I could hear a voice coming from upstairs. Apparently, Jonathan missed the first boat over and arrived a day later. He seemed in his normal good spirits.  Well, we rested and headed back inside. Korak asked a bunch of questions to Morradin about this rat creature and I went looking for that woman. She was still around but this time hiding in a different spot. We asked to talk to her about it but she still didn't want anything to do with us.  Back inside I tried to make sure Jonathan was calm and safe but he really likes to run ahead. I kinda worry for him but we brought him back alive so that's something. We followed the caves deeper, past the area where we found the machines and followed the smell of Ale. Half the members couldn't wait to jump into the river like it wasn't one of water but beer. I am not a fan but Korak and the others seem to really like it. Darvius kept telling us because of all his training he no longer needs to eat and drink, I mean we get it but you're boring. Next, he won't need to breathe and keep complaining that's all we do. We found a bunch of mechanical servants that only listened to the Tarkals, so in this case Korak. First ones held a library with loads of information but Korak didn't find anything in the short time we were looking. Lyla was getting taught the dwerren language by a robot, she at first thought it was caramel which I love. She is such a cute kid. Really smart as well I think she almost picked up the language in the short time we were there.  We moved through the caves, finding different rooms. A burial site, a place where they bred mini purple worm creatures for what we guessed was mining. They also had a strange alchemy station where they created some kind of fuel, what it did I'm not sure but we later found it in use by some of the robots. I really want to look into it more but who has the time. There were also these mushrooms that they fed to the worms to help remove the poison from them. We followed the river all the way down and at last found the source. A giant keg, this was a holy creation of Morradin so the only true thing a follower could do is CHUG! Korak stepped up quicker than me running away from a fight. He drank and drank until his magical full plate armour started to expand for his belly. He drank so much the keg attuned to him and Korak was able to shrink it. I think he is planning on keeping it at Tarkal once the place is defended correctly. But funny all the robots seemed to be attached to it and powered down when it was removed. They were really interesting and the place wouldn't be the same without them. We ate and drank, the food was coming out of boxes all fresh. Where they got it from I have no idea but Lyla got ice cream.  I did have a magical crystal in here, one that controls the ley. So for the first time ever, I attempted to take control over it. I'm not saying I'm a natural or anything, but it felt good to just understand a bit of how it worked. I was able to get us up to the 6th circle access and made the area contested. Later on, this became very important but I was just proud I worked it out, with a little help from Jani like. We left the river of beer and moved back to go deeper into the keep. We were about to just move on but thanks to Morradins words we have to find the hammer to get the key so we don't lose our hands. We moved into the room with the mechanical creature, Korak called the angel of death. It was a tough fight but we destroyed it and all of its minions that poured out of it. One of them had the ability to control time, well delay it. I really want to work out how it did that. Maybe in one of Korak’s books or something. Korak found a key inside the metal and we took it to a door. This was the forge of Tarkal. It took some time playing around with the steam pipes and vents but we made it inside and there floating in lava was the hammer.  Only me and Korak could stand close to the lava, I was there watching in my cloak as Korak without aid from another walked straight into the lava. There was a moment where the lava dragged him under but he walked out and place the hammer into the water without letting go. He was badly burned but somehow alive. Sure he could have just used my cloak but there would have been no honour in that. This was his home, his hammer and it was up to him to claim it. I might have been wrong on his but I kinda think Morradin would have been looking down on him and smiling. He had tears in his eyes bless him but lucky for him Jonathan was the first to run up and hug him. We searched around and found some more stuff. Jani found a potion that turned him into a Dwerren and he drank it! Guess Korak has a brother, well kinda? We took em back with us to the Cohort so I guess if you are not happy with your height and wanna shrink down a little you can.  We moved deeper down and found the Ley crystals of the Dwerren. These are what grant the ley to their building and keep the flow without breaking as human cities do. However, the main crystal was overcharged the magic had gone as high as the tenth circle. I protected the group with a magical barrier and Korak Stepped forward to destroy the crystal before it exploded. The explosion looked like it would have killed Korak but something happened and I’m really not sure what it was. Whatever we saw it was only there for a split second and gone in a blink of an eye. Whatever it was, it saved Koraks life. With the crystal destroyed the magic returned back down to five-zone with me and the ruler... Muahaha, Nah just messing. We found the women on the way out and are looking to get her to a safe place where she can live without fear. Korak is staying here until he can get things in order, he got a lot of work to sort out ownership. I think he sent a message to the Dwerren already so I bet they will be partying. Does this mean I have to call him Lord Korak… Aye it suits him. Here's to Lord Korak, the one that drinks the most but never boasts.  Drago & Nalu. Cohort

Session 422 (Mission Special): Along Came A Spider... Present: Medi Eirwen - Level 13, Alseid Druid (Serephen) Prudence Duskhart - Level 15, Alseid Druid (Lena C.) Agatha Duskhart - Level 15, Rjurik Sorcerer/Warlock (Summer) Diesa Gemfire          - Level 15, Dwerren Fighter/Wizard (Zilarrezko) Night Howler - Level 10, Bronze Dragon Barbarian/Bard (Mekapix) Amaida          - Level 7, Thylean Nymph Druid (Hazelchan84) I expressed to the others that I was concerned about the activity in the Spiderfell, and that I wanted to recover the weapon the Empress had to trade away to Bonebreaker Dorokor to recover her wife. Everyone was very supportive, as always, and offered to help. Firstly we went to check in on the Empress to see how things had been going, and to ask if her scouts had any news on the recent movements of Dorokor or The Spider. Empress Roseone greeted us warmly, as usual, and told us that Dorokor’s forces were occasionally striking out in directions other than Roseone. Dorokor herself wasn’t going out of her way to join the forays, and fighting her in the forest itself would be incredibly difficult, as we were all aware. She mentioned that that area was currently locked in something like a three-way standoff between Roseone, The Spider and Ghoere. With this in mind we decided to work with a plan to wear captured Ghoere banners and tabards and provoke the Spiderfell forces in their name in an attempt to coax out Dorokor to take her on in more neutral ground. Not my worst plan. We headed North, planning to skirt the edge of the Spiderfell and move into Ghoere’s lands before we started attacking orog groups. On the way we ran into a group of Arcanophages - strange, colourful flying slug creatures that eat magic. Seems like they were hungry and detected a concentration of powerful spellcasters. It was a tricky fight considering how much some of us rely on our magic, and the creatures exploded with arcane force when killed, so we opted to knock them out instead. Agatha decided to keep one, as she can reliably keep it fed and docile. The rest of them we decided to put down safely. We did not want them waking up hungry, following us and catching us off-guard in the middle of a fight. We carried on Northward, keeping out of the forest, but the spiders watched us from the trees and the webs seemed to extend further than they normally should have. Unnerving, considering we were bordering on a territory owned by Roseone. During the evening a group of creatures emerged from the woods and approached us. Each of them looked like a dark sidhelien woman from the waist up, but below that they had the bodies of giant spiders. There was one leading them whose spider half was the size of a small house. They didn’t attack first and so I thought maybe we could talk to them. That was stupid. Their leader addressed us and demanded to know who we were and why we were trespassing there. I tried to talk my way through it, but she immediately saw through my attempts at deception. In the end she demanded payment for just allowing us to live. Nobody really had anything to offer her, nothing they wanted to offer anyway. I think they were looking to me for what to do but… I hesitated. She started asking for Agatha’s divine blood which we were not willing to part with. Night Howler revealed himself as the Bronze Dragon, which interested her. She’d been convinced that the Void Dragon had killed the Bronze Dragon, so she was surprised to see him. She asked for his blood, which he seemed willing to give and asked us all to start moving away. Before the woman could take any of his blood, Night Howler started charging his breath attack and all hell broke loose. We all started to flee, using spells to speed us up and slow them down. Amaida got caught in one of their web spells as the big one caught up to her. I wasn’t going to let her suffer and die because she followed me. I moved back and shunted her to safety through a fey tunnel so that she could run to safety. I was prepared for whatever would happen, but Diesa used her magic to trade places with me and got away thanks to a combination of hers and Agatha’s magic. Eventually we managed to get away from them and return. The Empress was more generous than she really should have been. At Agatha’s suggestion she even had me named Countess of Westmarch, the province bordering Abbatour to the East. The fact that The Spider had moved so close to the edge of the forest was important information in preparing our defences, but I didn’t feel like her praise was well-placed. As soon as that monster appeared I stopped being able to lead effectively. At the time I didn’t know why, but I’ve thought on it since. There’s something holding me back. A cold darkness that walls my soul in stone. I need to face that before I lead anyone anywhere.

Session 429 (Mission Special): A Nice Game of Don't Die Present: Luna - Level 11, Tabaxi Sorcerer/Rogue (Serephen) Lucan Yaeldrin - Level 11, Hanner Sidhe Wizard (Mekapix) Grian Veles - Level 8, Pixie Druid/Warlock (Kristen B.) So Lucan just finished filling me in on his meeting with The Vampire after I got back from my trip home when this pixie flutters up and joins our table. Says his name is Grian, looking around for people needing help on missions. It would have just been the two of us, so a third person wasn’t unwelcome. I brought Ruby along as well to round out the team and watch our backs in the night. Alia got to stay home though, The Vampire’s lands aren’t warm on the best days and Winter’s setting in. She doesn’t like the cold. I explained to Grian that we were tracking down someone who’d been creating Ogrepedes, but that we were doing this for The Vampire. He was a bit iffy about that, so I told him it was for the greater good in the end and we headed off. Alkavah’s investigation hadn’t turned up much. She said there was some strange activity on one of the other mountains in that area. A tall mountain, right on the South border of Bloodshroud, South-East from the one with the asylum on it. She didn’t know if this activity was connected or not, but it was all she really had for us to go on. No teleporter this time, just a hard, freezing climb up the mountains in the early Winter. Really glad I left Alia at home, I’d have enough trouble keeping myself warm up there. We bought up some cold weather gear and a tent to help out. First day was pretty boring, but we made decent time thanks to Grian. He knows his way around the wilderness, which makes sense. Got woken up in the middle of the night by Ruby screeching and yowling. Some thing like a big black squid was wrapped around her face, and a few more were floating toward us. Thankfully they weren’t too tough, so we put them down and put one on the fire. Lucan thought it was a bit weird to see them in a place like that, since they normally hide in caves and pretend to be rocks. I figure something kicked them out of their cave, but we didn’t try to track them back where they came from to investigate. Maybe more of them will appear and Alkavah will have another quest to look into soon. Eventually we started making our way up the mountain, there was a path, which was nice. Partway up we saw a weird creature coming down the way we were going up. Looked like a person, but with rat features. Didn’t mean anything to me, but apparently it did to Lucan. He whispered real quick that this thing matched the description for a demon lord called Chittr'k'k. Apparently he’s real dangerous and loves spreading diseases, pain, suffering and decay. Also killing humans, though he’s not picky and will kill other people too. His eyes are too keen to be tricked by illusions or tricks so half of our entire repertoire would be useless against him. Best thing to do was apparently to give him a wide berth, act casual and hope he doesn’t pay you any attention. We tried, but he did look our way. He pulled out a coin, crown on one side and gorgon on the other. “Call it.” he says. I didn’t wanna know what’d happen if we called it wrong, but 50-50 is better odds than we have a lot of the time. We called Crown and the coin landed on Crown. He tossed the coin to us, which turned into a cat-shaped stone with a green gem in its eye, then he carried on down the mountain. Lucky us I guess. We made it to the top of the mountain and found an old forgotten temple. We found shrines to some sorceress that Lucan recognised as Iggwilv dotted around. The cellar of one building was a huge cave full of bats. All different types, giant bats, vampire bats, albino bats, regular bats. I joked about this being the home of some kind of bat king, which turned out to be not far off. There was a graveyard with a collection of headstones in all different languages, all of them were noteworthy vampires? Also some depictions of shadowy demons called Darklings, and another one that showed fey like pixies and dryads being corrupted into fiendish forms. Spooky. We went in the main temple and saw a statue to some huge figure with big leathery wings and hoofed feet, sat on a big pile of skulls. Lucan said the name Orcus when he saw it. Not one I’ve ever heard, but he said he was the demon lord of undeath. Fair enough. While we were exploring some guy appeared. Turns out he was The Bat King, one of the Animal Lords, and he’d been responsible for making the Ogrepedes. Pretty swiftly we were tying his body to one of the horses to bring back as proof that we actually completed the mission this time. Then we took a rest before making the trip back. In the night Ruby woke me up and there was a knock at the door. I opened it to see some small child with ghost-white skin, jet-black eyes and hair and a raggedy doll. She asked if I wanted to play a game called “Don’t Die”. The aim of this game was to not die. If we won, we got magic items. So basically regular Cohort life compressed into a short game. The other two seemed dead set against this, but I figured a bit extra treasure couldn’t hurt. Life is a risk after all. They followed me to make sure I didn’t get killed, but weren’t happy about it. The child showed us to a cavern area and said that we had to get in, get the treasures and get back without dying. Easy enough. Lucan stayed by the entrance to cover us in case something happened, I used my speed spell and took Grian in my pocket in case he’d be useful. A pocket pixie saved me once, maybe again? I ran through the cave, climbed along the walls over a huge pit and into a little tomb area. There was a shield, a sword and a bow there, each with a sarcophagus behind it. I figured it wouldn’t be too hard to get them all so I took the shield first, but then fumbled my grip when I went to pick up the sword. All three coffins opened up and vampires popped out. One of them put me under an enchantment while another one came over and bit me. They tried to get me to lead them to Lucan so they could get us all, but on the way I managed to break their hold and slip away from them. I grabbed Lucan and we just left, closing the door behind us. The creepy child found this all very funny and called the game a tie since I dropped the items when I got charmed and didn’t have a chance to get back to grab them up again. Oh well, at least we were all still alive. We made it back to Alkavah with the body in tow. She seemed to recognise The Bat King and was impressed with what we managed to do. True to her side of things she fetched the Book of the Dead and wrote in the name we asked for. Now we just need to do some final preparations and we can put an end to this, once and for all.

Session 426: The Captain will not go down with his ship Horus, Thylean Minotaur Barbarian, Level 10, Mekapix Echo, Thylean Siren Rogue/Fighter, Level 9, Lena C Sabiha bint Habivi, Serpentine Lamia Sorcerer/Warlock, Level 11, Zilarrezko Nephenee, Medusa Rogue, Level 9, Serephen Romilly, Goblin Barbarian, Level 10, Summer After our last mission, we were hoping that nothing too stressful would occur during our outing today. We just needed to head to the shrine of the oracle and enquire about the items we gained from the Necropolis, but as if the gods themselves could hear us, and they actually might be thinking on it, we had a messenger come get us on behalf of Vallus, Goddess and Queen of Mytros. We knew we couldn't keep her waiting, so we went and spoke to her. Meeting with her, she congratulated us for the work we did in Mytros before, and if the king had given us the reward he promised us, a map to a legendary ship called the Ultros. The king handed us the map, but told us that the ship was unneeded as he was going to guide the way forward for the world with his new dragons. After talking to Vallus and Kyrah, we found out more about the Ultros. It was used by a bloodthirsty dragonlord called Ester Arkelander who enjoyed slaughtering whoever he could. The ship itself is heavily enchanted, so much so that even Sydon unleashed furious storms against the ship, but it wouldn't be capsized or destroyed. However, the ship and its crew vanished after the first war. If we wanted to go through the Forgotten Sea, we would need the ship. After giving us this information, we headed to see Oracle Versi. Kyrah came with us, saying that she wished to chronicle our journey. Visiting the Oracle, we asked her what we should do with the items we acquired but she couldn't give us any answers, so I suppose we just have to hold onto them until the time comes that they are needed. We asked her to look into the future and guide us to where we needed to head next, and so she was able to get a vision. There was something dark and cold, much like a trap, but also something greater, adoor opening, an exit. She said there was something new, but at the same time old. She saw a beautiful view of the ocean in our future, and there were stars reflectied in the ocean. The stars were of constallations that were twisting and turning, as well as a compass with a missing piece. After we recieved this vision, Romilly asked about our destined paths, as she knew that Sabiha had one but the rest of us did not. The Oracle was able to tell us of our paths. Romilly was called the Gifted One, destined to start and lead the new order of the Dragon Lords. Though to achieve this, she would need to get hold of a cube that is able to expand into a fortress, the crown of a Dragon Lord, and the egg of a dragon. I was told that my future was difficult to read, but there was a dragon that had some kind instinctual vendetta against myself and my kind. If I wish to, I can take vengeance upon it and out an end to the suffering it puts on others. I need to gather two items, a ring or armour of resistance, and a weapon made to slay dragons, before I face this creature. Nephenee can be rid of issues afflicting her life, issues that seemingly run in her bloodline, but she must also seek out two items. One is a Gem of Brightness that can only be used by her, and the other is a staff of fire, belt of fire giant's strength, or a bottle of the efreeti. Echo will be able to reunite with her family, as well as reclaim her family's name and title, as well as artefacts her family once held. In order to do this, she has to gather two items, the first being a ring of protection, an amulet of health, or an Ioun stone of Awareness, with her famiily's crest emblazened on it. The second is a Helm of Brilliance, a dancing sword, or a rod of absorption, each was once carried by her ancestors. After gathering this information, we set off once more to the Mithral Mountains to visit Vulcan, who we handed the axe and shield we had obtained in the Necropolis. The two items were in disrepair and needed to be fixed in the Mithral Mines. Sabiha left her hammer with Vulcan as it would allow him to fix the weapons faster, and she was given a sword to use in the meantime. I did ask about the ring or dragon slaying weapons, but Vulcan said he knew nothing about them and would need to look into it. We rested the night and headed off in the morning, following the trail that we had on the map until we ended up at the Dead Falls, which connected to the Underworld. The rocks in the area were incredibly sharp, and the water was horrendously perilous. The walls of the area were adorned in horriffic carvings, as well as human and inhuman faces, and as we ventured further, the canyon grew narrower. We were able to eventually find and board the Ultros, a fine looking vessel of incredible size. Wandering across the deck, we were able to find a way leading to the deck below, which led us to a storeroom and a large room filled with undead manning oars. Not doing anything, just sitting there, ready to row, as well as an undead woman at a drum. We inspected the storeroom and found a box that contained around 16 onyx gems that had a strange spectral air to them, and inside each onyx was a swirling mist that had a screaming face within it. Nephenee took one of the gems out, but when she did, the gem shattered and an undead creature burst out. We managed to deal with it pretty quickly, though Romilly wanted to release more of them because she didn't get to hit anything. That child has an odd obsession with wanting to fight things. Before she was able to though, the box had sealed itself shut. We then entered the rowing room, Sabiha approaching the woman at the drums. Anytime Sabiha spoke to her, the woman would ask if we were ready to set sail. This happened maybe two or three times before Nephenee stated we were ready to go. The woman began beating the drums and I think all of our heads went fuzzy, and we blacked out before waking up again on the top deck. As we awoke, there was the ghost of Ester Arkelander, the dragonlord. He had been cursed by Lutheria after sacrificing his crew for eternal life, which she gave him, though his eternal life was not accompanied by a body that wouldn't age or get diseased. Now he was only a spirit, and he asked us, thinking we were his crew, if we were up to the task of becoming his loyal followers, the ones he would gift the ship to if he passed on. Looking back on it now, we should have asked more questions, tried to find out what was going on, but we didn't. We just said yes and accepted an oath. A foolhardy error looking back on it now. He told us that we needed to take care of three of his crewmates who were planning to mutiny, and so we did, blindly following his orders without questioning any of it. After we had dispatched the three of them, we returned to the captain. He told us that he had settled on one of us to become the captain of the ship, tht he had settled on me. He asked if I was willing to take on the role, and as we had done before, I blindly said yes. I think I was just overexcited, thinking that perhaps I could finally take a big step in the world, and thus get a step closer to freeing my brethren. But I was naive... The captain possessed me, took control of my body, and I was stuck in the baack of my own mind. Romilly quickly acted and hit me with her maul, which brought me back, but he was still there in my mind. He is still there in my mind... His last order to his crew was to take us to Mytros, and though he possessed my body, I could not command them to do otherwise. We were taken to Mytros and docked within the city, where the undead controlling the boat then disappeared. We were met by Queen Vallus, Pythor, and Oracle Versi at the docks, as well as the King of Mytros himself atop a silver dragon. While he did congratulate us, he also boasted that we would not need the Ultros as him and his dragons will be able to defend the city, which caused a lot of cheering in the city, then he just flew away. Speaking to those who met us there, they congratulated us on getting hold of the Ultros and even said that they would come on board, joining the ship. They could also get a number of hands to help on the ship, so we asked for some from each major city. We did tell them about Ester, and the fact he still resided in my body, but it appears that we would need to speak to Lutheria in order to deal with him. As a reward for our efforts, we were brought a dragon egg, and the crown of a dragon lord. The crown was gifted to the cohort, while Romilly's dog ate the dragon egg and then itself, turned into a baby dragon. I have no idea how that happened, but I'm not one to question the power of magic, as I don't much understand it myself. We were also brought a compass, a magical one that would use the constallations to guide us, though part of it was missing. We were told that we would not be able to travel across the Forgotten Seas until we found the piece needed to repair it, and that piece could be found on Fire Island. I'm not sure how to feel after this expedition. We have the Ultros, but this being is within my mind, and if he is not removed, he will take over and I will no longer exist. However I will need to make dealings with Lutheria, a titan who knows we are collecting relics to destroy them, and athe titan who I have actively been against in the past. I also have found that a dragon is potentially causing the suffereing of my people, as well as targetting myself, and that I can take vengeance on it if I wish to. I have seen what vengeance does, I saw what the want for vengeance did to Graxus, and I promised myself that I would not want such a thing. I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure what I should do... - Horus

Session 432 (Mission 2I): Face Your Fears Present: Medi Eirwen - Level 13, Alseid Druid (Serephen) Night Howler - Level 10, Bronze Dragon Barbarian/Bard (Mekapix) Eirena Lightshadow - Level 15, Rjurik Paladin (Depraved Lunatic) Jonathan Cashmere - Level 7, Sidhelien Bard (Jack B) It was pretty difficult to gather a group without my friends catching on to what I was doing. I feel bad for moving behind their backs, but I knew they’d stop me if they heard what I had planned and I couldn’t shake that this was something I needed to do. Thankfully I had reliable faces in Night Howler and Eirena answering me. As well as them a newer recruit called Jonathan showed up, a loud, brash, chaotic Sidhelien child. He seemed eager to help though, so I couldn’t rightly turn him away just because this mission would be incredibly deadly, all I could do was make sure they all came back alive. I explained that we’d be going to Morrendeep, and shared all I knew about it with them so that they knew fully what they were signing up for. There was a lot to cover, but eventually we got ready and headed out for Baruk-Azhik. Our first stop was to meet with Overthane Greybeard to check for any updates on the state of the ruins, and to request the aid of Nazan Caskforge and Gilgrani Windhead. The Overthane was pleased that we were looking into Morrendeep again, but seemed concerned that he had not heard from the outpost at the entrance for a few weeks. The whole place had gone quiet. I worried in case something had managed to break out and get free, but promised the Overthane that we’d get to the bottom of it. I treated the group to drinks at the tavern before we left, just as something nice to soften the horrors to follow. We made good time reaching the edge of the Khurinlach and seeking out the old boathouse we’d used before. The place seemed abandoned now though, and there were no boats for us to take. No whole ones anyway. We spent some time fixing one up out of the parts we found around. Not the sturdiest boat, but useable at least. We camped out by the shed and set off first thing in the morning. Approaching the watchtowers it was clear things weren’t all good. It was dead silent, though I didn’t catch sight or sound of any threats, so we got closer to investigate. All of the dwerren who were stationed there had been killed. Cleanly slashed by something which had gone straight through their armour in places. None of their belongings had been taken, but one of the boats had been smashed and the other was missing. Troublingly, it looked like some demonic, hoofed creature had come here from somewhere else, killed everyone and taken a boat into Morrendeep. Gilgrani provided last rites for the soldiers and prepared their bodies to be returned to Baruk-Azhik for proper burial later. I was incredibly nervous as we descended into the dark ruin. I couldn’t stop myself from shaking. But we went in, and I did my best to keep the group informed of everything I knew going forward. It seemed like whatever had come in here had disposed of any remaining skeletons around the entrance, which was some small blessing at least. Though the froglike creatures we encountered before also appeared to have been slaughtered, which saddened me. It had been nice knowing there was at least one thing in this place that wasn’t overwhelmingly hostile and dangerous. At the statue of Moradin I knew that East led to some docks, West was unexplored and North led to the Wendigo’s forge. Needless to say, I couldn’t bring myself to go near that thing again, so we went West. The canal twisted and turned many times, and I lost my sense of direction a bit, before we found ourselves somewhere new. The room we entered was rather massive, with a large, circular structure in the center which had bridges coming off of its West, East and North sides, though we could not really see what was up there. We circled around it Northward and saw a low walkway that had some old, dried bloodstains on it. Old, but not ancient, implying they’d come from someone more recent than the original inhabitants. Suddenly my heart grew cold, and a sick feeling swelled up in my stomach, as I realised what this place was, and whose blood that had been. Even though I hadn’t been alive to see it, this was the place the others had found us… our bodies. I couldn’t stay near it for long, and insisted we take the boat South, to find a dock. We disembarked and started exploring. All throughout this room was the sound of hammering metal, so loud that we could barely hear each other, though I knew it wasn’t the Wendigo. There was a fainter clanging coming from the East, the direction we had floated away after being brought down. We first entered what looked like a waiting room with a clear pool in it, then into a long corridor. The North end of this corridor led into a room with a shrine to Moradin, as well as a number of statues, connecting to the Northern bridge, a hallway through which I could hear the Wendigo working, and a bridge to the central, round room. We tried to enter that room but the door was locked, and bore the words “Moradin’s curse on any who enter here.” Nazan and Gilgrani had no idea what this could be, and couldn’t advise one way or another if it would be a bad idea to go inside. It seemed the decision was made for us, as we could not get the door open. Night Howler flew around to the South and saw that there was another door, much grander, that did not appear to be locked, but would have been very heavy and possibly difficult to open. We left that room and headed South down the corridor, taking a side passage that led to a series of small rooms. Some sort of living quarters. Of note here was a study containing a number of letters to a deceased (at the time of writing) high priestess of Moradin known as Brunhilda Opalhorn, thanking her for her good deeds. I don’t believe this is a common tradition, so she must have been something special. We recovered the letters in case they are of any note to a Dwerren scholar or historian. In another room were some barrels of grains which somehow had not spoiled, another held a swimming pool whose waters would clean themselves so it could never be dirtied. The last was a bedroom with some magical traps in it, which Jonathan set off quite carelessly. Investigating further it seemed like the bed had some magic to it. It’s possible that resting in the bed would grant you some magical benefit, but we did not take the time to experiment with it properly. Further South we found a lock which went down to the massive room, connecting to one of the waterways closer to the entrance, as well as some sort of prayer room? It had rows of benches with rotted books of Moradin beneath them, and was open to the waterway. The last room we checked in that area appeared to be a forge, with enchantments on the forge itself as well as the quenching barrel. The forge was enchanted to stay lit and hot, while the barrel would apply a minor enchantment to any weapon dipped in it, making them shiny. This forge led back out into the massive room again, so we doubled back. At this point Nazan noticed my total reluctance to go anywhere near the direction of the Wendigo, and told me that I had to face my fears sooner or later. I guess I did go down there to do that, but I didn’t think that meant I had to face that thing again! We were running out of places to explore though, so I led us East, over the bridge I’d been found dead on, and up the stream, retracing my path. On the way I filled everyone in on as much as I could remember about the Wendigo. I hoped that it would be enough to make them realise fighting it would be impossible, though Jonathan scoffed at the fact that we’d fled from it originally. The boy has no idea what sort of monsters exist in the world, it’s as though he has no fear of dying, like he doesn’t understand that it could happen to him at any moment. I hope he learns before it’s too late for him. We emerged into the waterway directly connected to the Wendigo’s forge. I was barely keeping myself together at that point. As we approached and were discussing what to do, I noticed a fiery imp-like creature fly out of the Wendigo’s room and sit by the river. After watching for a few more moments, the creature itself appeared and said something in the fiendish tongue. Eirena whispered that she caught one of the words and that it was “Gorgon”. That alone threw everything into confusion. If the Gorgon was there, or at least sending minions to operate there, then the results of that couldn’t be good for anyone. We were debating taking out the imp, though we took a long time to reach a decision and it returned to the forge. Shortly after, everything started to grow colder, which almost made me fall into the river in panic. The imp fled from the Wendigo’s room and was destroyed by his icy spit. I was confused, and curious about what just happened and why, when the imp reformed itself and tried to sneak away. I suggested interrogating the imp when Jonathan took the opportunity to openly shout out to it at the top of his lungs. The Wendigo took notice. The imp fled and hid, leaving the creature’s attention on us this time. Night Howler took the full force of his spit and was frozen in place, though I managed to free him with a wall of flames. He then blasted the creature with his lightning breath and led the retreat. We turned the boat around and fled, thankfully it did not give chase. Perhaps the light of justice made it hesitate, or think twice. I don’t know if it’s been hurt that badly by anything in a long time. A less forgiving person might have thrown Jonathan off the boat and left him there, as he seemed to show no remorse or regret over endangering other people’s lives. I feel the Cohort should maybe examine its recruitment standards more. If it is forbidden to kill another member of the Cohort directly, why is it acceptable to invite death upon your fellow members through blind stupidity and ignorance? Regardless, while we were chastising Jonathan, the imp caught up to us. Eirena spoke to it in Infernal, and learned that it also spoke Sidhelien and Anuirean. The imp informed us that he had been trying to convince the Wendigo to relocate to a place called Rappan Athuk, on the orders of the Gorgon. He had come with a few others, who probably killed the dwerren outside, but he was the only one left. Rappan Athuk is supposedly a massive dungeon, containing a demon lord known as Orcus at its core, and Orcus has instructed the Gorgon to gather powerful creatures to act as guardians. The Wendigo was apparently on their list. One of the other demons had recruited the strange creature that posed as a commode. The imp told us that Night Howler’s lightning could be enough to influence the Wendigo into talking with us rather than simply trying to kill us on sight, so maybe we could try and convince him to leave. If we succeeded, we’d be free to keep anything he left behind. As much as I hated the thought of doing anything to please the Gorgon, getting the Wendigo out of Morrendeep would spare anyone else from being caught out by it and suffering the same fate I had. I accepted, and Jonathan took the imp as a familiar, being aged by it in the process. I would have offered my advice on the wisdom of accepting such a deal, but at that point I had realised that Jonathan seems to be mostly beyond the reach of common sense and just left him to make that mistake for himself. We returned to the Wendigo’s area. I asked the others to allow me to try and talk with it, using magic from Jonathan to allow me to converse with it, a spell from Eirena to bolster my charisma, guidance from Gilgrani, and some inspiring words from Night Howler. With all of this backing me up, I stepped up and walked straight towards the Wendigo. No sneaking or subterfuge, we just walked up to the door and I made our presence known, telling it we weren’t there to fight. It stopped its mad, endless work and turned around. Those horrible, hungry eyes stared right through me, and it walked right up to within an inch of my face. If it hadn’t been for Eirena’s aura of bravery I would have definitely broken down, but with everything empowering me, I stood my ground, even when it took a warning swipe with its claws, letting me feel the chill air and the sheer force behind it. Night Howler charged his lightning breath, causing it to hesitate from being openly hostile, giving me a chance to speak. I told it that perhaps the reason it seemed unable to finish its blade was that this location was no good, and that moving someplace else might give it what it needs to complete it. It then spoke “You… like that?”, it pointed to where it had killed the imp before. “I killed you… you come back… immortal?”. I was honestly surprised that it remembered or recognised me, but it seemed so confused by the fact that I’d returned that I decided to take a chance on that. I told it that I was immortal, and that I’d keep coming back again and again. It thought it over, then probably decided that staying would be more trouble that it was worth, picked up his unfinished sword and left. I almost collapsed once it was out of sight. The feeling of relief was immense, overwhelming. I’d stared down my fear and made it go away. Everyone was celebrating and congratulating me on pulling it off, then we went to look through what it had left behind. We found a set of smith’s tools, which were later appraised as being of unmatched quality, as well as a mithriall war pick which had been crafted to the same standards. We found three ingots of tighmaevril, as well as an assortment of materials. One pound each of copper, silver, gold, platinum, cold iron, star metal, adamantine, gold dragon scales, and glainne dust. In addition there were three quenching barrels, containing some living shadows from the Shadow Realm, some light of Laerme, and some ancient blood which radiated a residual presence of Azrai. Perhaps the recipe for tighmaevril includes some combination of those materials? Before the Wendigo became a monster, he was said to have travelled to the Shadow Realm to learn the secret, and he went mad from his time there. We returned to Baruk-Azhik to share everything we’d learned and found with the Overthane. For his tariff, he took the crafting materials for his smiths to look over, in the hopes that they might figure something out themselves, we were left with everything else. He also mentioned that he was aware of the contents of the large circular room we’d failed to get into, but warned that none but high-ranking dwerren priests should ever go in there. He intends to post a mission to the Cohort regarding this, but wished to do so only in the strictest confidence. The information relates to closely-guarded dwerren secrets, so any team that undergoes this mission should exercise as much discretion as they’re capable of. Though I’m sure Korak will enforce that. As an aside, t he Cohort should be aware that this is the second time the name Orcus has appeared in mission reports recently and keep an eye on it in case this becomes a rising trend. The last thing we need is another world-ending evil being rising up to threaten us. I hope that my actions here don't end up proving harmful to the world. I hadn’t been expecting to face the Wendigo on this expedition. I was intending to explore, scout out some new rooms and areas for future expeditions, and return intact. The fact that I was capable of going so much further than that though… it has been incredible. I feel capable of overseeing Westmarch and actually being in a position of power. I feel confident enough to face down the Spider and her minions. I know I may not always make the best decisions when leading, and I may hesitate and get flustered, but when it comes to the important parts I know that I can do what needs to be done. Included is an up-to-date map, showing known exploration progress of Morrendeep thus far, to aid in future expeditions. Exact dimensions may vary, some annotations missing.

"Jonathan took the imp as a familiar, being aged by it in the process. I would have offered my advice on the wisdom of accepting such a deal, but at that point I had realised that Jonathan seems to be mostly beyond the reach of common sense and just left him to make that mistake for himself." I know it's a little late to ask but what would you have told me? I'm curious.
Session 428 (Special): Conquest of King George's Castle, Part 2 Party: -Savas Al-Hadar; Khinasi, Fighter/Cleric, LvL 15 ( Physh ) -Aeferen Revven; Sidhelien, Ranger, LvL 13 ( SlothSlow ) -Aloise; Storm Maiden, Sorcerer, LvL 1 ( Serephen ) -Green Knight; Fey, Paladin, LvL 8  (Hats4Cats ) -Eirena Lightshadow; Rjurik, Paladin, LvL 15 ( Depraved Lunatic ) We gathered at the Cohort Tavern to discuss our second attempt at conquering the water temple in the northern-west side of the Margreve for King George. Since we had the same people from last time with us, there was little further discussion. We quickly made our way to the Margreve. We traverse the Margreve to encounter not only “The mighty druid of  the woods.”, which was a weird, hatlike creature floating through the air, but also to battle against a large dinosaur. While I believed that this was a fight to defend our lives, Green Knight prompted me to stay my blade and attack with caution. I didn’t understand at first, but one of these hat-creatures managed to sneak up on the dinosaur and acertain control of it. Wether this is a good thing or not will show later. It wasn’t long before we arrived at the Water temple. There, we were met with an amount of steam elementals that seemed to have sextupled ever since our most recent outing there. Deciding against fighting them, we retreat to take the back door of the temple. Thanks to Arsepius and Exiviiel, we all make it up the waterfall and arrive in the grand hall of the temple. We venture into the western wing, the one opposite to the one we explored last time and find a Khinasi woman names Azusina, a magical slumber cast upon her. Fearing for her safety, Savas broke her out of her slumber. We soon realized that she was, unlike the whale, not locked in here, but very happy to be here. This posed a problem and once she realised that we weren’t here as guests, she called the guards on us. Chaos ensued at first, but we ultimately decided to run atop Exiviel and Arsepius. With our plan foiled, we took note of what we had gathered from this expedition and tried to salvage our misadventure.  I concocted a plan. We were to spy out the dinner the Shadow Fey and Octavian Nebula have, to see if they are indeed just having a dinner party or if there was more to it than what we could gleam. Together with Revven’s magic and expert stuffing in our platemailed party members, we managed to sneak back to the side of the castle, where we could see crabs cooking crabs inside the kitchen. Perfectly normal phenomenon. We skirt around to catch a peak into the dining hall, which was filled with banter, laughter and everyone having a good time. I tried to read the atmosphere in the room to see if the shadow fey seemed manipulated, but alas, they were simply enjoying themselves. The Water Maidens from our previous expedition made an appearance and informed us about some bits and pieces of story between the two parties. Ultimately the lady we were trying to free from this castle was the adopted daughter of Octavian Nebula and not locked in there, unlike the Opera Whale. And while she did seem to have a very holiday-esque air, it seems like Evil enjoys the company of Evil. Both the shadow fey and Octavian Nebula are horrible people. We try to discuss our next plans, but Octavian Nebula seems to have taken note of us. She invites us for scraps, but we politely decline. She wishes us a good evening, not before threatening to kill us all if we harass her daughter ever again. Fair enough. We retreat after being uncovered and decide that we would seek out the weird and mystical creatures of the Margreve. Most notable was our encounter with Moptop, The Stoner Slug. Moptop enjoys smoking grass and was a big fan of Thundersnail in their prime. The Grass that Moptop smoked was of exceptional quality and allowed those who smoke it to be more resilient against the guile of other beings. This would prove most useful versus Octavian Nebula. Moptop requested some particles from King George’s back in exchange for this weed however, so we venture to Cordie’s tower, to get exactly this. The Hat Creatures had already made their way there, as they had previously announced. Cordie was in the middle of explaining to them which creatures they were allowed to posess and which were taboo. Among those was King George, the baby brontosauri and Thundersnail, whom we invited to join us on our return journey to Moptop, to which they agreed. We return to Moptop and as requested, exchanged wares; our George particles for their grass. Thunddersnail and Moptop exchanged a few words, after which Thunder Snail shot thorns at Moptop. Apparently, this is how snails copulate. An Image that will forever scar my mind. After this encounter, our journey came to a somewhat conclusive end. While the Conquest of King George’s Castle was on hold for now, we had to think of different methods of conquering it. Either that, or of methods to catch Octavian off guard. That is all. -Eirena Lightshadow

Session 436 (Special Custom Mission): [In Search of the Pheonix Feather] Played on the 20th of November 2020! Present: Darvius Alandre; Sidhelien Monk, lvl 18 (Darvius) Dragomir Black; Vos Sorcerer/Warlock, lvl 19 (Hats4Cats) Korak Tarkal; Dwerren Cleric/Fighter, lvl 18 (SlothSlow) Sithric Grimhildsson; Hanner Sidhe Fighter/Rogue, lvl 15 (Depraved Lunatic) Suibhne Moonblade; Sidhelien Rogue/Wizard, lvl 9 (Physh) Aye short trip this one. We traveled to Turhievel looking for the Pheonix Feather, but it wasn't there some demon who had made its home here selling cheap items, was kinda crushing the local business. Sithric went off and came back with a broom, honesty I have no idea what happened during that trip. He didn't want to speak of it but something to do with a monkey, a wild night and his new bow broom. Something also to do with a woman who worships Kong the demi-god monkey. The city had someone new living here, Beelbezos with his new store Azamon. Apparently, a demon but everyone has been getting really cheap goods and all the local businesses have been shutting down cause they couldn't compete. We stayed clear of that shop azamon, I just wanted to speak with Side Bean about some stuff also having a nice place to visit with someone in the winter was kinda at the top of my list all that anyone ever wants to go to is dangerous places underground.  We planned to patch things up with the Thorn King of Turhievel after the cohort got his wife killed a few years back. Korak planned to resurrect his wife, but her coffin ended up disappearing during the night. It was tracked down to Beelbezos home, so we planned to go there and try and get it. The constructs who worked there were really funny but everyone just killed them so didn't get to take one back. We found Beelbezos in a pile of treasure and before Sithric and Darvius invested into his company we got rid of him. Beelbezos almost seemed to bring them around but he was working for the Gorgon and after he was destroyed it was clear that this was just a trick of the Gorgon. After we got back we resurrected the king's wife, repairing cohort relationships, helping Turhievel, and giving Sithric new nightmares of something he would rather forget.  Dragomir  & Nalu Cohort
