A token ability cannot be used without having a token selected, yet @{selected|ac} on a freshly made 2024 character with valid AC with the sheet linked produces the following error, no matter where it is used from, from a token ability, macro bar, or the chat. Allow me to reiterate, this is broken. Dynamic attribute calls are all broken.

I can get selected to work, but "target" is just broken across all of jumpgate. Also, the exposed attribute of AC is only the PC value. It does not work with NPCs.My target isn't an npc sheet but a pc sheet, with a working ac attribute, and if the issue was that the attribute wasn't there, the error would be different. In my experimenting, the target call I tested worked from the character sheet and the chat, but not the macro bar when saved to the character sheet. And I don't know what to tell you, selected just straight up doesn't work in my test game, as shown in the image.
EDIT: And the sheet not automatically filling in the character reference for an unreferenced attribute call is still a massive issue.
To be clear, I wasn't saying you were doing anything wrong, merely pointing out that the sheet itself is incorrect in how it is exposing attributes.
I can think of a number of things that might lead to the result you were seeing (running with multiple tokens selected, for example), but I wouldn't be surprised if something was just plain broken.

I actually tested some more stuff - selected works from chat, but not saved on character sheet, and when I selected two tokens with ac of 12 at the same time... the @{selected|ac} call returned 15 (though this behavior isn't consistent, I couldn't get it to happen again - but I did check the values). Moreover, the macro bar has multiple issues - aside from target calls failing from it, it also creates duplicate buttons:
And abilities from the macro bar and token abilities fail to find the character until the character sheet that macro is saved on is opened - if you refresh the page, you need to open the character again.

In the main setting of the sheet you can set "roll damage automatic" maybe that can help

To "make sure nothing is game breaking"? WOW... everything about this has been completely game breaking. There is no way any real testing was done on this for it to be this bad. You should be refunding everyone that pre-ordered and is trying your broken sheet and writing bugs but allowing them to keep the content since they are doing your jobs for you.
As for not doing updates over the weekend because you don't want to mess up anyone's games... what about the countless games that are run on weekdays??? Better to be honest and say that our dev team is over worked and they need some time off and apologize. Everyone needs days off.

I can't recreate the problem -- my test sheets that had this issue are fixed and rolling damage. Can you try in a test new game and see if that works, and if it doesn't -- please send in a Help Request. We can take a look at your game with you to see what's going on. Thanks!

I think there was some confusion between the Combat tab and the Spells tab. You can see Spell DCs and make damage rolls from the Combat tab (though it shows the DCs wrong for me), and in the Spells tab it just lists the spells and prints its info in chat when clicked.
Everyone needs to request a refund of their 2024 pre-order content. We are not getting what we paid for and are effectively paying them for the privilege of doing their product testing for them. Just say no.

First of all, I would like to point out that even though some people are criticizing the new sheet layout, the only reason I decided to pre-order the DND 2024 Package is because of it. We are tired of having to use DND Beyond and Roll20 and wanted to use only one tool. So, for me, you guys are on the right path, though there are many issues to be resolved.Secondly, I would like guidance on three things, and maybe you can assist me here, Bianca:
- How can I add a custom “Effect” in the new sheet? One of my players has the ability to add poison damage to all their unarmed attacks, and I know that via the “Effects” part of the sheet, I could add it for them. However, I don’t see a way to create a custom one. Is it possible?
- I am looking for guidance on Greater and Superior potions of healing. I only see the Potion of Healing in my compendium. Are those different versions available anywhere?
- How can a player roll a spell in a higher slot? For example, if they would like to roll Shatter at spell slot 4. Both Beyond and the old Roll20 sheet have a dropdown that lets the player choose and adds the bonus accordingly.
How can it be the right path. The compendium info is incomplete (unless the intention is to force us to use the slow, buggy, awful non-designed charactermancer)? So much does not work, and even if some things work, it is poorly designed UI.
But... I can answer 2. (Maybe)- You'll probably have to wait for the release of the DMG. Then it will be in compendium (maybe, certainly not before).

In my opinion, it’s the right path because it would have been impossible for my party to use only Roll20 with the old system. Even the Charactermancer was terrible for them compared to how easy it is to build a character in Beyond. With this new DND version, we discussed what we would like to do because we couldn’t keep paying for two adventures (one module here and one adventure in Beyond) plus Beyond subscriptions and Roll20 subscriptions. With the new builder and sheet, Roll20 will deliver everything we need on one platform.
I heavily criticized them in this forum (old post) and the Reddit post because of the state the sheets were released in, especially the level-up feature. They definitely need to improve these, but they are way more advanced in this aspect than Beyond with their VTT.
I would say right destination - i.e being able to do it all in Roll20, but wrong path - i.e the new sheet is so bad and I do not see why they did not just copy and amend the 2014 sheet!

I disagree. The destination was already there; many people used the Charactermancer and the 2014 sheet, and they liked it. For my table, it would be a no-go. These players started in 2020 and have never held a paper sheet. They wouldn’t even know where to begin. They need the user experience provided by Beyond’s creation and sheet management. It’s easy, visually nice, etc. If Roll20 had kept the 2014 sheet, it wouldn’t work for us.
Any working sheet is fine for me, what I need is the more automatization possible.
In my opinion, when the 2024 sheet will be fully working, it will be of grate use to keep the game fast
I'm just upset of the situation, day 1 of 2024 sheet had nothing working...nothing
It was like joining and alpha test...an alpha test I payed almost 90 $...
I made a new game and Spell DC's are still wrong. Sacred flame is still rolling to hit. Sheets are repopulating deleted aspects when multiple people have access to the sheet.
Tried adding a magic item, Belt of Storm Giant Strength. Stat modifiers are not yet automatically included (fine). Went to item modifiers (nice) to set Strength Total when attuned (nice). Selected ability modifier total but it doesn't work, it instead treats as a "+" modifier.
The feature that tracks the number of attuned items is nice. Eventually, this looks like it will be an improved sheet...but not yet.
2024 sheet rolls initiative with advantage citing the Goliath powerful build feature. This is incorrect, it should only apply to ability checks to end the grappled condition.

Was there a solution to this? Nothing I roll works
It's fine that Roll20 doesn't have a working sheet on PHB release date. It's not fine that Roll20 is marketing and selling it as if it was working.
The Compact Look on the new sheet is much better than the standard one so in that regard it's heading in the right direction. Still need to give it a few more months to get all the bugs fixed and add missing features like custom resource boxes added.
Reported this as a bug. I created a 1st level character with the new system, added to a game, and connected it with a token. All good and I could open the character sheet from the token. Created a 2nd character and did exactly the same as the 1st character only this time opening the character sheet from the token took me to the builder option page! And now, in the builder if i click on my 2 characters the sheet doesnt open, instead i get the page to create a character, as if i never created them in the first place. Not good!!
I have to say, I'm glad I'm not running or playing a D&D 5E game right now. I'd be pissed. I'd be demanding money from Roll20...
I spent some time this morning trying out the character sheet & builder. Total disaster. I knew this was going to happen months ago when they had the beta version out - there were so many problems that weren't getting fixed. Now, I have a character builder that's difficult to use, and a character that's unusable.
I created a brand new game using the 2024 sheet as the default sheet. Then I entered the game, brought over my ability score die roller macro from another game (ability scores are 4d6, keep 3, re-roll 1s and 2s, which is what I use for games I run), and tried to create a character in-game.
Let's start from the appearance. Everyone is talking about a "compact" sheet. I don't see it. I can't see it. I don't know what people are talking about.
I created a character in a test game, then opened the character. First thing that happens is: I'm presented with a screen to create a character. This is a damn ugly screen and takes up WAAAAY too much real estate on the screen. The old game would ask me a simple question: do I want to run the charactermancer, create an npc, or edit the sheet manually. That question was hard to find. I could see a "manual" option. I didn't see an option to create an NPC. But finding the options was way too hard because almost all of the screen was an advertisement. There is way too much on the screen. It should be a simple option at this point.
Moving on. I chose fighter and human to keep it simple. I was then shown several screens where it looked like I could make choices, but couldn't. For exxample, skill choices, origin skill choices, and origin feat choice I get as a human. Screenshots:
Why have arrows there indicating that there's something there, or something I can choose there, when there isn't. Why not have a description, or something else there instead of giving the appearance that I can choose something. I was puzzled about this. I found that later on I was able to select these as part of the build process but here... it was just plain confusing because there's nothing. Not even of "select these later" kind of message.
Later on, when I was able to select these, the class and species names were doubled:
Why does it say "Fighter fFighter" and "Human Human"?
Moving on. I got to the point where I was able to roll my ability scores. Now, we hit another problem. The builder screen was so huge, and took up so much real estate, I could neither get to my macro, or see the rolls from it, very easily. I had to do a lot of moving the builder screen around so that I could get to the macro, and then move it around again to see the rolls. This was a pain.
Nowhere in the process did I see anything about starting equipment (or gold). Nowhere in the process was I given the chance to choose languages (you get 2 by default, I believe) and some Origin Feats give you more choices.
Finally, i got all done with creating my character, and was back to the regular screen. There was a character in journal. It had the correct name. I tried to open it to see the character sheet and... I was presented with the builder again as if I hadn't just spent 30 minutes creating the character. There was no character sheet. None of the tabs at the top took me to a sheet. Nowhere could I access the character I had just built. I would have had to start all over again... Clicking on "Edit character sheet directly", just gave me a blank sheet:
There are no words to adequately describe how completely, and totally, unacceptable this is!!!!!
Scribe Background and/or Skilled feat not allowing selection of skills.
Monk class not adding Wisdom mod to AC, nor applying Dexterity to unarmed attack rolls or rolls with monk weapons.
As a side note: I did save the character sheet before exiting.
I created another character. Saved it again. This time it worked. Still no starting equipment. Haven't checked anything else yet. But, this whole thing is still unacceptable.

Adding a character sheet to a game should not reduce the functionality of the VTT. This sheet disables functionality that's present with no sheet selected. That is an object failing.
A big thank you to all of you users that are willing to spend your time uncompensated performing QA for the Roll20 staff. That enables users like me to ignore the 2024 sheet until you guys solve all of the issues and then come back to it in a month or so.

Another bug here: Warlock Pact Magic is not showing the correct spell slots. It's supposed to show two slots that increases in level as you level up until you get a third later on. Instead, at 3rd level, it's showing 2 slots in the 1st level spells and 2 slots in the 2nd level spells.
Additionally, invocations do not show up for warlocks in character creation and can't be dragged in. That's their main thing in my opinion.
Also is there a way to manually add hp per level instead of taking the average or digital rolling? Or even to override the total when creating a character over 1st level (and where the level up coming later would let you manually add an analog roll?)…
Compact should now be default, I think, but is set via the button at top right of sheet (I forget what it is called because not testing the sheet currently)Saul J. said:

Well, Mike, I did not even know you could level up. So I did some testing. Was using Barbarian.
Can manually add all the class/subclass abilities, but they are just notes. Can manually add skills, etc.
HP are only via override and I can see no way to change HD for existing class, only add 10 further levels of same class (though dropdown for HD type is annoyingly placed so have to fiddle around to get to D10/D12!
Oddly adding a shield did not add to the AC - perhaps because I overrode AC to 14 (due to +2 Dex and 12 Base for Barbarian). Removed override, added a base AC of 12 which fixed that.

So Bianca, what are the supposed advantages of the 2024 sheet? Because I see no advantages at all, just things that are worse than 2014 sheet.
I'm tempted to ask for my 2024 rulebook preorder to instead be transferred to 2014 rulebooks. If 2014 is not going to be supported for at least a decade then a refund and bye-bye Roll20.

ensure on manage HP
enter override HP (you may have to scroll down to find it - in right hand column)

Click the + on Combat, then select effect and enter details?
Though would it not make more sense to add it as an extra damage type on unarmed strikes... as the above seems to be pointless!
I note that damage for unarmed strike (where no dice are rolled) does not work. Unable to set as 0 die, or d1 to get around this.
Damage for spells adds rage bonus, or presumably any damage bonus applied. Need to be able to specify which damage bonuses apply to which type of attacks. In 2014 sheet global attack modifiers appear to have their own roll button even with a tickbox to apply or not. 2024 rage or similar effects take 3 or 4 times as long to toggle on/off.
My sheet was fine when I played last Tuesday. Now today, the picture is set to default, there is no class, all ability scores are set to 10, every skill is listed twice, some inventory items are gone. The sheet will not let me add the class back. When I go into the settings it says character builder is coming soon. It took hours to get this sheet working properly and now it's completely broken. What's going on?
The new character builder is a complete disaster. Bugs out, fails to give choices when needed (This current attempt background attribute choice bugged out. My last attempt racial choices bugged out). Also, no way to filter by ruleset, especially for spells, and no way to tell which version of the spell is which ruleset.

Bug report here. When testing out recreating a character from 2014 with the new 2024 stuff, the character sheet is showing 2 of every skill. I think it's because I tried adding a second class? Also, the hit-point section in the compact version dose not show the death saving throws as it's meant to.
We have a ticket open for death saves, sorry about that. We'll look into the double skills -- were you multiclassing, or did you change your class midway through the builder?
My sheet (which was fine and mostly working last Tuesday), now has double skills listed, had the class and background removed, had all my abilities reset to 10, Unarmored Defense no longer works, the attacks section is blank except for Unarmed even though I have weapons in inventory and they're toggled on. It took all afternoon Tuesday to get the sheet working mostly. I really don't want to have to go through the whole process again.
