Josh said: knowledge geograhpy 24. well I've only got 1250 in the bank and about 250 on hand...you have any pay ment plans? I would like to have this gauntlet. You read a bit about Highhelm during your reseach in Treefall, in the Church of Labelas Enoreth 's library. It's the dwarven capital of Terolus, located about 6000 miles west near the mountainous eastern coast, where the nation borders the Sea of Lost Souls. The ancient dwarven capital was located in the same spot before the Cataclysm, and after the Renewal the dwarven survivors (who'd hidden deeper in the Underdark during that dark time) rebuilt the capital in the same ancestral halls, making the city millennia old. The dwarves there are said to mint their own stone coinage, bearing the face of the current King Under the Mountain. Ryelly shakes his head apologetically. "Wish I could help you, Limar, but I'm afraid that sort of thing just wouldn't be good business. I could hold onto it for a week or so, if you think you can raise the cash by then, but that's about it." Josh said: Max said: Josh said: thats the were wolf guy right? we should probably learn the weaknesses of were wolves if they are going to be joining the fight. Knowledge (local) and (nature) apply. I dont have those can anyone cover it? Kraggan rolled a 24 Knowledge (nature), and tells you: "Like all lycanthropes, werewolves are humanoids of giants who can transform into a specific animal or a hybrid form based on it--in this case, wolves. Lycanthropy is a supernatural disease, a curse that spreads to those they bite. The disease can be prevented from taking hold with a dose of fresh wolfsbane, a toxic herb, if it's administered within an hour or so after being bitten. If that's not available, a powerful cleric must heal it magically within a few days, otherwise the transformation will take hold the next time Luna is full--the victim will lose themselves to the beast until dawn, causing untold havoc. At that point, the only cure is to use a remove disease  or break enchantment  spell while Luna is full, and even then the afflicted must have great force of will to overcome their curse. Of course, that only works on those afflicted during their lifetime. Lycanthropy also passes to children, and those born with it are even stronger and more resilient, and incurable besides. All lycanthropes have a supernatural ability to heal wounds from weapons almost instantly, except those dealt by alchemical silver. Because of this, they have a strong taboo against silver, and almost never carry or touch it. If we're going to be facing werewolves, we'll need to rely on alchemically silvered weapons and magic. They also have a natural affinity for normal and dire wolves, and often form packs with them, so we might be dealing with those too."
can someone order  limar some silvered claws and fangs?
Josh said: can someone order limar some silvered claws and fangs? At Frimin and Asgeifr's Armaments , the high elf Frimin Moonbrook considers this request for a minute. "I'm not sure how such a thing would work... maybe Azzy might have an idea. I'll be right back," she says, going into the back rooms, and returning shortly with her husband, the handsome and muscular hill dwarf Asgeifr, who's still wearing a blacksmith's apron. After explaining your request to him as well, he runs his fingers through his thick beard thoughtfully, and says "I've worked with alchemical silver plenty of times. I s'pose I could try fusing it directly onto your claws and fangs, but it would be dangerous and unspeakably painful, and I'm not entirely sure it would work. If it did work, it would likely be permanent, and I should warn you that alchemical silver comes with a downside: it's a little softer than most materials used for weaponsmithing, so you won't do as much damage with it. If you're still up to try it, I suppose I'd charge about... 110 gold for a claw or your teeth, 300 gold for the whole set of 3: both claws and your jaws."
unspeakable painful? no thank you i wast just think some form fitting gauntlets with silvers tiped claws i could wear and and some silver dentures i could remove. how much for a silvered bolt? or arrow?
"A gauntlet? Can dragons even wear gauntlets?" Frimin asks, nonplussed. Asgeifr nods slowly, considering it. "I've made barding for horses and wardogs afore, but they never wear anything like a gauntlet... but, I suppose if yer claws are dextrous enough, it's doable. It'd have to be custom fitted, but... yes... yes, I think I could do it. Dentures though, that's a bit far-fetched. I might be able to work up something, but I couldn't vouch for it being a very effective weapon. The gauntlets would run you 270 gold pieces each. For the dentures... let's say 300, since I'd have to spend some extra time figuring them out too. Silvered ammunition is 10 gold apiece."
Xankoris just made a pair of pineapple bomb that uses alchemical silver as a material for caltrops. If anyone wants more of it, the cost of it is 70gp. BTW, he called it as 'AWW' bomb (which stand for Anti-Werewolves bomb). What poison do you think he should fill in it?
So, it's the afternoon of Earthday, Coldeven 20th. You have three chests bulging with treasure to sort through (now listed in the Loot thread, with specific check suggestions in Observations). Who is going where to get what appraised? Xankoris, Si'dunn takes you out for drinks (she buys you tea, and ale for herself) and hits on you very aggressively, though she doesn't do anything overtly violent yet. Josh said: Limar will go check on Murnig, drop him off a fresh squid head if he wants it, then go get boat of people he left outside of town. find a place to nap and meet up with the others in the morning. Old Murnig was apparently unaware of the battle, his small tower outside town ignored by Zorall's marching forces. "It's a good thing you all drove them off," he tells Limar. "They'd likely have come for me if Bowhery fell, and even with my pets it'd like to've been the end of me." He recognizes the hideous trophy Limar brought as well. "A mindflayer! I haven't seen one of those in a long time... very dangerous, clever as can be and full of strange psionic powers. The head might be of use too, if you can find a priest willing to question it. There's some divine magic that can do that, I believe." Limar's rowboat arrives not long after the battle ends, manned by his hobgoblin follower Borg, his kobold servant Kuklet, and a wood elf named Silaquin whom he apparently rescued from certain death in the Stonefare. It also carries his chest of coin, and a stone statue of a strange-looking gnome with one arm broken off. Knowledge (architecture & engineering) and (local) apply. In Bowhery proper, the grisly cleanup of the battle goes on through the night and into late morning. Heeding Siwan's warning, the Companions help burn the bodies of the strange plant-infested undead, which Limar later explains are called golgari  by the Stonefare locals. The fallen grimlocks are tossed into the river, while the dead among Zorall's followers on the west wall are heaped into a pyre and burned together with the simplest rites. The injured are carried on stretchers to the churches, where the priests and priestesses treat them free of charge--everyone coming together in the wake of disaster. At the Church of Fharlanghn , the current high priestess, a half-orc cleric named Myev, heals Xankoris's Charisma damage and thanks him for his help in the battle. "I hear you fought the mindeater in mids air. Very brave." She also helps treat the wounded among the Wayfinders, as well as the odd human scout from the Terolus military, who arrived just in time to help stop the golgari. In total, 3 conscripts, 1 full-time guard, and 5 members of the Companions warriors guild died in the battle, and many more were hurt or maimed. Graves are being dug the next day in the cemetery, and there's much mourning and somber toasts to the victorious dead. No one seems to know what to do about the tiny spot of forest that Kraggan grew out of the middle of the docks, even once the invisible predator that lurks inside is hunted down and killed: a strange kind of plant creature called a phantom fungus, that was apparently created by the spell. By the afternoon of Planting 3rd, things have more or less settled down. The Companions host a small feast in the market, honoring those who risked or gave their lives to save Bowhery from the assault. They award medals to the Wayfinders and Verne. After the ceremony, several of the guild's more influential members approach Verne and plead with him to send word to the human military that Bowhery needs reinforcements against these incursions.

Kirin joins in on your strategy meeting at The Pilgrim & The Cauldron  the evening after the battle, her eye-slitted stone mask as unreadable as ever. "Rith One-Eye? What does she  have to do with the attack?" the sorceress asks. "Silverlime is what that squidmonster called itself, everyone's heard of the Coiled Lady, and of course I know Leeman Kendling, but who is this Dreyan?"  Borg, Kuklet, and Silaquin are there too, having helped haul up the one-armed statue, which seems to be made of a dense, dark green stone. "I bet wizard would know about peterfy," Borg says, in his broken Common. "Maybe asking Leovor at keep?"  "What about the embargo the guards told us about?" Silaquin asks. "As we were leaving, they said that Rith had locked down the Stonefare for the coming war, no one's allowed in or out except her people." The background noise helps to keep your conversation relatively private, locals toasting their survival from the attack and occasionally buying members of your party drinks while a gnome minstrel shakes a tambourine and sings a classic (localized)  gnomish song . Spellcraft applies to Limar's question about undoing petrification, Knowledge (nobility & royalty) applies to the names Silverlime and Fleshreek.

When Hiskel pops back up a couple hours later and realizes what happened, she recalls reading about this phenomenon in one of her books and goes to find the party. Her conclusion is the same one reached by the local priestess of Corellon Larethian, a high elf named Shoain Silkspinner, who has by them managed to help calm the fearful populace: this is a rare kind of supernatural weather called temporal wind, which is distracting but relatively harmless. Temporal winds are rarely severe in any physical dimension, but can easily blow creatures through the dimension of time. They are usually mingled in with normal winds of moderate strength, and can strike in random gusts every few hours. Creatures must succeed on a DC15 Will save or be blown 1d6 hours forward. The creature seems to disappear in a shimmer of silver light, then reappears later in exactly the same space (or closest unoccupied space), orientation, and condition as before. From the affected creature's point of view, no time has passed at all. Temporal wind has a 50% chance of extinguishing candles, torches, and similar unprotected flames. Hiskel, being particularly well-read, also knows that the cause of temporal wind is unknown, but some scholars believe that their temporal component blows across a higher-order dimension, and creates this phenomenon when it intersects with wind in physical space. There are legends of cases where someone blown forward in time by these winds did not reappear, or eventually reappeared centuries later instead of the normal few hours.

"Looks like your account stands at 1254 gold pieces, 1 silver, and 3 copper, Limar. 200 gold out shouldn't affect your interest rate." She opens a small safe or black iron, removes a wooden coffer, and counts out the coins. "So how've you and your friends been? I'm sure you've heard of all the chaos around here lately. They're quite welcoming, and glad to hear that you're an accomplished soldier in the Terolus Army. "I hope this means the military is going to take a more active role in helping defend the cities under attack," the human paladin Viktor suggests. "I'd like to hear more about that over these drinks he mentioned," adds the human rogue Jonas, to which the dwarf cleric Oskar laughs and nods in agreement. "Aye, I could use a pint myself." The three accompany Verne to The Harlequin's Goblet , Waterwend's most popular tavern and inn. It's not very busy this time of morning, and it doesn't take long for one of the dozen similar-looking busty tallfellow halfling waitresses to bring your drinks: dark beer for Oskar, vodka for Jonas, and whiskey for Viktor. They discuss the state of the war, sharing news that Waterwend's city council is struggling to equip enough guards with alchemically silvered weapons to deal with werewolf raiders--only 1 in 10 has one, currently. Cases of lycanthropy are also spreading among the guards injured in these skirmishes, and churches are trying to keep up with the treatments but a few violent transformations have already occurred. After the introductions are done and those three have gone off with Verne, Moonflower comes over to Hiskel. "So Limar mentioned that you study Draconic truenaming. I'd be interested in talking shop with you... most of the spells I've mastered as draconic in nature, maybe we could learn from each other."

Limar-I can only promise to keep loooking, bye Merla. -Well if you can keep a secret and no one else is watching...? spot 11 -I'll try this circle market for seeds. Hiskel- Easily my most prized possession, here its easier to look at than it is to describe.
Ritt K. said: "How about we do it all together?" Xankoris suggested them both: "First, I append your master name on the spell. Then, I teach it to this man house mage and sign the exclusive rights. So not only your master leave his legacy as 'this spell creator' but as 'The one who is significant to Suloise War' instead?" (Diplomacy check: 22) They both seem convinced of the wisdom and profit in this plan, and with the help of the Guild's in-house barristers, contracts are soon drawn up. The amount they're investing is substantial, so ordinarily they wouldn't distribute it all at once, but your reputation as the creator of the Asahina-Redhill Pineapple grenade is well-known in Waterwend, as well as the heroic reputation of the Wayfinders, so they make an exception and give you the full 470 platinum up-front. Both insist on regular updates on the progress of the spell, though, and give you addresses in Waterwend to send letters to. Josh said: -Well if you can keep a secret and no one else is watching...? spot 11 You don't see anyone else in the shop at the moment. "It'll stay between us," Frimin promises, her eyes bright at the promise of some juicy secrets. Josh said: -I'll try this circle market for seeds. Circle Market is rough circle of a few stalls around a popular well, each selling a different thing: mutton, melons, fish, farming tools/supplies, hats, clams, lanterns and oil. There are also a few other stalls with tenants that come and go. At the farm supply stall, you find a variety of equipment, such as hoes, shovels, and plows, sized for Small and Medium creatures. There are also sacks of various types of seeds, with simple charcoal drawings of the plants they'll grow into on each. The shopkeep asks what you need, and helps pick out suitable quantities of different seeds based on long experience with horticulture. Josh said: Hiskel- Easily my most prized possession, here its easier to look at than it is to describe.  As you place the strange stone cube into Moonflower's hands, it grows to 4 inches on a side, the same size it was when you first found it. She starts at this, but relaxes when she sees that the change was harmless. Turning it in her hands, she examines it: the Lexicon is shaped like a stone Rubix Cube, but each of the 54 faces has a Draconic letter or numeral carved into it, with the remaining faces bearing strange, unknown symbols. "How odd..." she murmurs, prodding at the faces, and soon discovering that the sides can be rotated in thirds. She does this for a few minutes, spelling out some simple Draconic words across the faces. She casts a cantrip, and her eyes glow a soft red as she gazes down at it. Spellcraft applies. "It's magical, and powerful too. What does it do?" asks in Draconic.
After signing the contract, Xankoris said to Nell: "It ended quicker than I expected. So, Is there anything you want to do? Since I have nothing to do now anyway."

Limar-  I've recently managed to infiltrate Queen Rithes court in the stonefare as leader of the local kobold tribes there, these sets of armor are meant to play on their love of Tiamat, special temple guards and what not, this will hopefully make them more loyal to me than to Rithe. Any idea how long it will take for it all to be ready? - How much for the vegetable seeds? Hiskel- It seems to help me locate important information, pulses when near, I've bought some interesting books because of it.

"Maybe you could show me those murals you painted in the residential district. I heard some townsfolk talking about it, but I haven't had a chance to go see them until now," Nell suggests, with a rather seductive smile. Frimin raises both brows at this news. "You're quite a daring little creature, aren't you!" she laughs. "Playing politics with the great powers... well, I suppose great things are to be expected of dragons. You intend to supplant Rith One-Eye, then?" Josh  said: Limar- How much for the vegetable seeds? In total, the sacks come to 2 gold pieces, enough to seed a dozen acres of farmland with a good variety of crops. Josh  said: Hiskel- It seems to help me locate important information, pulses when near, I've bought some interesting books because of it. Moonflower hmmms, turning it in her clever hands. "Just pulses? There must be more to it than that... otherwise, why would its creator make it able rotate in such a complex way? It could just be a plain cube if the pulsing were its only trick."

Limar- replace her? maybe but then I'd have to leave the Wayfinders to manage the Stonefare, I have forever whether I take over now or 50 years later will not make a difference to my long term plans, I'm still waiting on Kraggan to make a definitive plan of action. -any idea how long until the gear is done? if you need a kobold model I could ask hiskel to stop by. -Thank you farmer John. -Has it been long enough for Limar to get more training from Taibai? Hiskel- well yes it does more, allow me to rearrange the symbols to spell out "Heat" and lets see what happen.

"What's a century to our kind, eh?" Frimin laughs lightly. But then she sighs, and her tone grows more serious. "This tumult endangers us all, though, strong and weak alike. People whisper that these attacks from the north are the start of a greater war, that the deep powers have finally decided to claim the surface cities as their own. Waterwend has no armies to defend it, though, and the council still isn't taking serious action... we've always been wealthy, but what use is wealth if we do not buy sellswords to defend us in our time of need?" "Well, in any case, your order should be ready in about a week. And, hmm... yes, please send her by. Azzy rarely makes armor for kobolds, we should take her measurements." Josh said: -Has it been long enough for Limar to get more training from Taibai? It has, yes. Josh said: Hiskel- well yes it does more, allow me to rearrange the symbols to spell out "Heat" and lets see what happen. Moonflower hands you back the Lexicon, and it promptly shrinks back to 2 inches across. Turning the sides, you form the word with its letters, but nothing special happens. "Just one word... have you ever tried making whole sentences, crawling around the sides? It would be harder, since you can't repeat letters, but... perhaps a command might do something?"
Then limar will go get some training sometime then. hiskel- No I have not, lets try something simple " spew air"or "blow air" you got any suggestions?
"Oh that one," said Xankoris, before asking people around there to know where it is (Gather Information check: 12, 1 GP.) Before led Nell to it.  When getting there, he began to explain the inspiration and backstory of it. He also said at the end: "If you want a portrait of yourself, I can make one for free if you would like to."

Setting aside the question of Hiskel's and Xankoris's survival, we can say you go to Merla and the high priestess Euphemia the next day, on Planting 22nd. When you visit Underbough's Underwriting  on the warm but rainy Starday morning, Merla thanks you for the idea, and finds a wooden comb of Cora's to give you. It still has a few of her hairs on it. She adds, "While you're here, I've been thinking... I've heard about your fortress downriver, and I have a nephew who I think would do well there. He's good at all sorts of tasks, and usually runs messages about town. Do you think you could find a place for him?" Sense Motive applies. Later, at the grandiose but low-cielinged Temple of Yondalla , the middle-aged and motherly high priestess Euphemia Highhill welcomes you after one of her underpriestesses shows you to her chambers. She listens to your request, asks for a description of Cora and examines the comb, then approaches a silver and marble font of holy water, and begins to cast the spell. For an hour, she prays quietly before the font, until finally the water's still surface begins to ripple despite the absence of any breeze in the room. As the rippling settles, it resolves into an image of a young halfling girl with brown hair, green eyes, and freckles on her heart-shaped face. That face is smudged and bruised though, and wears a dejected expression. Her clothing is in tatters, and you can see that her ankles are chained together on a hobble. She's stirring something in an iron cauldron hanging over a campfire, and you can hear rough voices around her...after a moment, Limar recognizes some speaking in Goblin, but a few speak Common as well. Euphemia gestures with her hands, and the view rotates around the girl, giving you glimpses of bugbears and hobgoblins, and a few humans and elves moving past her. Most look armed and armored in the crude equipment of savage races. Suddenly, a bugbear grabs Cora by the arm and drags her away from the fire. She tenses but doesn't struggle, her eyes going blank as she goes away inside herself, and when the bugbear throws her down over a crate and starts to undo the laces of his pants, Euphemia breaks the link with a sharp gesture, her face grave. "That poor girl... she must have been taken by raiders after the Storm. There were a lot of raids in the autumn and winter, with everyone short on resources... I know the devices those beasts wore, too. The goblinoids showed the mark of Gurak, and the others bore the badge of Grizzled One. We have come to know those sigils well in Waterwend, of late. I fear many more of my people may soon face the same terrible fate, if the council does not act."

Josh said: sense motive 14.  Im sure we could find room for him. You get the feeling that what's left unsaid is that this nephew is in some sort of trouble, or has brought shame to Merla's family, and this is a chance to put some distance between him and Waterwend but still ensure he's taken care of it. "My thanks. His name's Alton, Alton Underbough. Come by before you leave town, I'll introduce you." Josh said: We'll get her back, we will get all of them back and svadri wer driki guyya ekess inloil "You are a credit to your race, Limar of the Wayfinders," the high priestess says, gently patting your shoulder in a comforting way. "I shall pray to the great Matriarch for your success, and the girl's safety."  She gives you back the Small wooden comb. "I will reduce the cost for such a mighty spell, for heroes like you. 200 gold should be sufficient. You can give it to one of my underpriestesses."
70 gold,  rock crystal (also called clear quartz), worth 70gp , 600 silver and thats paid. I would also like to get 2 acid flasks from stumbleduck.

The underpriestess looks at the gemstone dubiously, saying "We don't generally accept payment in trade, but... I suppose for a protector of the city, we can make an exception, this time." Josh said: I would also like to get 2 acid flasks from stumbleduck. Stumbleduck is glad to see you as ever, and sells you the 2 flasks for 21 gold pieces total. "Glad to see you in Waterwend again, Limar," he says, while he's gathering the flasks. "I hear tell your new Fortress is quite impressive! And have you seen those Deathwalkers around the docks? Word is that they're here to protect us from the raiders."
Yea' I've ran into them. They are a uh nice bunch.
