You will have twice as many powers to code, and since at the start of a work day you do not know what you will run into unless cheating or heavy metagaming, you won't know what spells to prepare. So my suggestion would be to forget the spellbook exists, and just pick one encounter power level 1, one daily level 1, one utility level 2, one encounter power level 3 or below, one daily of level 5 or below. However, as said, not technically wrong, so we are not going to stop you from using this feature. If you are going to use it please carefully list which powers you have taken for what slot (both on your sheet and eventually in your macros). You do not appear to have selected the mechanical benefit of one background, nor chosen a theme. Neither of these are mandatory, but they can provide some additional power and/or flavor to your character. Please repost when you've had a chance to address the above. 1) Filled out the attack and damage section. Hypnotism does no damage btw (damage worksheet is all zeroes). 2) Used the stat block to list my ability score choices step-by-step. 3) I agree with you about the Spellbook function. I will use it however because it gives me the option to swap out powers without having to do retraining and I consider that advantageous. I had marked memorized spells with a 'M' next to them, but you prolly didn't notice. 4) My background is "Occupation - Scholar" and my Theme is "Scholar." They were already listed in the last text box of the character sheet. That same text box also lists the benefits I am taking from having those. Gonna scoot part of the text up to the "Background & Other Notes" text box to make things more apparent. https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1158707 Thanks for taking the time to review my sheet and even going a step farther out to point out things that weren't strictly necessary. You go the extra mile and it shows! :D

Hi Charles, generally we really recommend people to play a few sessions with their first character before they start their second to get a better feel of what works, and what doesn't, in this campaign. That said: 1) how are you getting studded leather? 2) when if ever do you think the quickhit bracers will apply? 3) eager weapon listed under gear and flesh seeker under purchases. Which is it ? Please note as you have no power points, eager weapon will be difficult to get any notable benefit from. 4) please work out attack and damage work space for the two weapons you carry, as they should differ. Currently it would seem you have a bonus to attack with crossbows, but did not purchase or equip any crossbow 5) if you buy magic gear, you do not need the mundane version. So you do not need Studded leather armor, a rapier or a dagger. 6) where does the +2 feat bonus to damage come from ? 7) where does the 7th trained skill come from? Five from class, one from race ... While not mandatory, if you did pick a theme please list it on the first page. 1. Typed in leather in compendium and it popped up. Fixed the AC value on the left though, I keep forgetting not to add the +1 there. 2. I replaced Quick Hit with Bloodthirst Bracers, and used the profit for Magic Weapon (Short Sword). 3. Fixed - Flesh Seeker 4. Fixed - Damage 5. Fixed 6. Fixed - It's only +1 for my main hand weapon 7. Rogue class says I'm trained in thievery, stealth. Then choose four more. So that's 6 + 1 trained skill for being a human -Spy Theme chosen Dagger and Rapier damage are now both the same. No longer have the magic shortsword, used the bonus money to make my dagger a Seeker Weapon. Decided Rusty Shackleford would be more of a Black-Hearted Knave over a Spy for the Theme. Added item powers to the list. https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1159392

Jerrod Hey Jerrod, welcome to the Guild Living campaign. 1) I do not know how you got to that number of hitpoints, could you please show your calculation? 2) You did not specify what type of armor you bought / equipped. Which also leave me confused at the armor bonus of 1 and shield bonus of 1 under quick lookup 3) while versatile expertise is not wrong, you may want to look at war wizards expertise 4) please change your attack and damage calculations to reflect eldritch strike (Con based, weapon) and sword burst (Int based, implement) as a better impression of the powers you are likely to use 5) while we are all in favor of bonus fests, I think you made a type error there. I find the race and class feature sections kinda bare. 6) I completely fail to see how you would have any use for Bracers of Mental Might. This is not technically wrong, spend your gold however you wish, but there are more sensible purchases out there. Near as I can tell, you did not pick a theme. While that is not mandatory, such a choice can give your character both flavor and power. When you have had a chance to address above please repost. If you are not yet part of the Guild Skype chat, please contact one of the DMs to be added. My handle is baldhermit - but frankly not home much the next 24 hours. In this Skype chat we talk 4e, campaign specifics, offer help with builds and macros and rules, and often decide on impromptu games.

I cannot stress enough how highly it is recommended that you have your attack stat as your highest stat. It is one of the few things that we do try to get players to do in order to make them able to function. All of your abilities are based on STR and a 15 STR means you are going to have a rough time being able to land any of your cool abilities. Your HP appears to be off. Would you break down your calculations for me please? Weapon Expertise (Longsword) is not a feat that exists. Please check the link on the New Player Checklist for a list of expertise feats that exist. You could not have taken Armor Prof: Plate at level 1 as you would not have had 15 strength. There are rules on Thieves cant. I can't remember them and I'm tired, where did you find the language? Your attack and damage workspace are incomplete. Please fill these out. What power did you pick up with Dilettante? Bloodiron is too high of level to be purchased for a starting character, see the New Player Checklist I think you mean to have a heavy shield but dont have one listed on your sheet. I like the backstory, however it looks like you did not pick up either a background or a theme. These are not required, but they can help flesh out your character both flavorfully and mechanically. Please address these issues and repost.

This is a personal choice. 2) Fighter 1st Level 15 + Constitution Score (21) + 6 per Level * 4 levels = 15+21+24 = 60hp 3) I meant to put Weapon Expertise (Heavy Blade) sorry 4) Switched this feat to level 4, after my strength would have been 15 5) Unlearned, learned Orcish 6) Completed this 7) Sorry, didn't have it listed, it was Bull's Strength, it is listed now 8) Woops, you're right. Changed it to basic Magic Armor +2 9) Listed now under "Other Items" 10) Sorry, wasn't sure if I was supposed to just put it there or not. It's the Half-Elf (Cultural Half-Elf) background, and the Guardian theme, added it as bullet points in my background.

Please label your class correctly, it makes things harder to check when you don't i assume you are Cleric (Templar)? and the Devoted part goes to class features section. 2. You might be missing a training, you should have four due to being a cleric and one for MC Warlock. Pelor's Sun Blessing is not a thing you can buy (being a divine boon), so I need to confirm which DM gave that as reward (this being a rework). Most likely it will have an expiration date, so question will be when did you get it, mark that info down? 3. You have +2 bonuses to Diplomacy, Heal, Insight and Religion labeled. Where are these coming from? 4. You have mislabeled your adventure company, fix that. It's Guild (Living Campaign) but parts can be left out from the end 5. You don't seem to have paragon path features or AP feature Glad to have you back

The level I got it is marked in the square brackets, so it expires in 1 level. 3. I don't have a +2 to Diplo, but +2 Heal comes from background, +2 History and Religion come from race, +2 Insight is from Sun Blessing 4. Fix'd 5. Fix'd Thanks for having me back :D

It's the Half-Elf (Cultural Half-Elf) background, and the Guardian theme, added it as bullet points in my background. There are very few requirements we have for players to be functional. Being able to hit or doing something that doesn't require hitting is actually one of them. Your prowess is not currently at the level that the guild would hire you on as a mercenary. The way the game is balanced in the guild is, typically, adding a monster or in other ways adjusting up to compensate for an additional player. From a meta perspective, in a team game such as this, it is not just your choice to contribute or not. With a +9 vs AC for negligible damage you will not count for your monster add (The average monster you will encounter will have an average AC of 21, so you miss on an 11 or lower (55% of the time). This is not fun for anyone involved. Again we don't require a crazy build, or the utmost optimization, we do require that you function on the most basic levels to be hired on with the guild. If you want a Con primary defender class, please check Battlemind or you can play as a Half-Elf Knight instead of a Half-Elf Fighter where you can make everything you do about Constitution. Cool. I wager the first time around you missed the 1 hp from leveling up your con. Heavy Blade Expertise you mean? Check Also not a language. Type in 'languages' in the glossary on the compendium to get a list of languages and who speaks them. Check Check Please list the other item you bought in your magic items. Check Theme, ideally, goes somewhere on the first page. I also don't see Guardian's Counter listed as a power. I just noticed that I do not see the level 5 skill bonuses (or your racial bonuses) to skills included in your skills. Please make sure you have the bonuses to skills in the Misc section.

1) I adjusted my strength and constitution to your liking, but am a little disappointed at the inflexibility given during the creation of my character. I was under the impression that the game is more about storytelling and less about munchkin dungeon crawling, as that was how the game was presented to me. "Functional not optional" is what we go for in the guild. We allow a lot of freedom, but the goal is to have your character not be so far towards the non-functional side of the mechanics thing that it would benefit the party to not bring you on the mission. Effectively as it is a team game and the game automatically adjusts its difficulty based on the number of players, bringing someone who is not effective at all makes the combat harder on the rest of the party as you can't pull your weight. If you think about it in-game, the answer is the same but for different reasons. If your character is not mechanically effective, you won't get hired on to be an adventurer for the guild. So the character won't be able to get sent out on missions because it can't make the barrier to entry (which is fairly low to be clear). Otherwise your character is ready to go. I can't make a journal entry for you right at the moment because I'm playing in a game, but as soon as it is done I'll add you a journal entry. Join the Game, go to the journal and start working on your macros.

Thanks for the reply. 1)I've clarified the calculation on my character sheet - 7.5(Swordmage) + 6(Warlock) + 18(Constitution) = 31 @ Level 1. 4*[3(Swordmage) + 2.5(Warlock)] = 20. So, 51 at Level 5. I rounded down at each step as this is what I would have had to do had I been leveling naturally. 2)Sorry. It's leather. The shield bonus comes from my Shielding Blade. 3)Excellent point. 4)Changed 6)Thank you. At 1: but your constitution is 19, not 18 At 2: leather gives an armor bonus of 2 At 6 : you did not remove bracers of mental might from your chosen powers Does the 19 retroactively change the initial value? Just asking out of curiosity as it's not 19 'til I hit level 4. Again, not trying to be pedantic, just thinking out loud. Thanks for the assistance. The changes have been made.

Hit Points Check your class description in Chapter 4 to see how many hit points you gain with your new level. Add those to your total. If you increased your Constitution score, increase your hit points by 1 (as if you had your new Constitution score when you were 1st level). Also, if you increased your Constitution score to an even number, increase your number of healing surges by one. I will set up a journal for your new character. If you click Join Game, it should show in the top right corner. Please start working on that, test your macros, and contact a DM if or when you're done, ideally on Skype chat, but you can also do so by posting a message here. You can test macros by first typing /talktomyself in the chat window, that makes the chat output only visible for you, and you alone. Shupa of the dead talkers comes from a clan that follow the Raven Queen, She was raised by a "Body collector" who would go through battle fields and pick through dead men's pockets and when they would find powerful people on the battle field they would use dark magic to reanimate to guard them- but her master was the only non necromancer in the group, instead he used spiked chains to puppet dead bodies around and could make them perform acrobatic feats that wouldn't be possible otherwise. After her master died due to internal politics of the clan of dead talkers she exterminated all of them with his corpse, giving him the vengeance he deserves. Shupa later went on to do mercenary work for a few sketchy clients and one of them ended up selling her out and got her put in jail, after breaking out of jail Shupa traveled in one direction for a few months until meeting another Shader-Kai who is apart of the guild, who invited her to join. So with student of death I could reanimate a corpse, but Im hoping by role playing I use my spiked chain and taking a spike chain expertise I can get a advantage of some sort when I use a corpse. Id like a GMs opinion. Student of death just turns a corpse into a lesser undead, but by making it so my character can't attack i was hoping to be able to use their orginal stats and give them extra jump abilities Im just trying to figure this out before I make a mythweavers I have read the Basic Rules/FAQ. Well if you're not going pedantic, I probably should lest other people think we're not nerds. Quote from the player handbook, page 27: 4. I am not sure if you are part of the Guild skype chat already, but if not, contact one of the DMs to be added. My handle is baldhermit. Thank you very much. I'm on the skype chat. I appreciate your persnickitiness.

Your attack and damage calculations do not line up with the quick lookup details, and your acrobat score does not include the bonus from the acrobat boots. As a more generic comment I would suggest you refrain from using pluses in the ability modifier fields and attack and damage work space. None of that should stop you from working on your journal though. When that is done please contact a DM via the SKype chat or by posting a message here.

It would appear your attack and damage work space is bare, your class features is bare, your quick look up is bare, your magic weapon and armor are not clear in their name, your defense calculations are incomplete... While not mandatory, you do not appear to have chosen a theme or the mechanical benefit of a background. More important than all of that still is that I would like to point you to step 5 of the New Player check list which urges you to place the highest of your ability scores into your main ability. Please review the above and repost when you're ready.

Note also, you did not select an expertise feat. 6) the attack calculation for the hand crossbow appears incorrect 7) you appear to have selected one less trained skill than your class allows 8) where does the +3 to perception come from? 9) how did you get access to Gloom Thief, Cloaking Mist, Terrifying Visage and Treacherous Shades? While not mandatory, you appear to not have picked the mechanical benefit of a background. Please address the above and repost when you're ready.

Please fill out your number of healing surges. 2. Please fill out your attack workspace and quick look up with the riposte part of riposte strike, since it is the only non dex attack you have. 3. Please select a favored terrain for your theme. 4. While it is not necessary, you are allowed to pick a mechanical background. 5. Please list your adventurer's kit under other items.

Hi Blooper, Thanks for the feedback. 1. As a rogue my total healing surges are 6+CON Modifier so 6 + 0 = 6. I inserted that under healing surges and filled in the 0 for the amount used. 2. I added added Riposte Strike on my Attack Workspace, basically the same thing, except it is versus AC. The Compendium lists it as: Dexterity vs. AC. I think all my attacks are DEX. 3. Thanks, I completely missed that as a level 5 character. I took forest and added it to my Class / Path / Destiny Features as: "Favored Terrain - Forest." 4. I decided to go with the Grifter Background. I added, "Background - Grifter" under Race features. I added a +2 to Insight's Misc. under Skills and noted the +2 to Insight from Grifter under the conditional modifiers, resistances & Action Points note. 5. I entered the adventurer's kit under other items.

Please fully read the power.(If you did not realize this power requires str to and don't want it just choose another at will and tell me you did that instead).

I guess I might have not fully understood the mechanic of the power. I changed the Riposte Strike for the immediate reaction part "If the target attacks you before the start of your next turn, you make your riposte against the target as an immediate interrupt: a Strength vs. AC attack that deals 1[W] + Strength modifier damage." So I changed both, the attack and damage, workspaces, essentially the same thing except, the ability modifier, I changed to 1 to reflect my Strength Modifier. I know we aim for legal and not neccessarily for good, but given the existence of the Attack Finesse feature, what do those points in Str get you ? This is not something incorrent, but it might make you enjoy playing this character less. 1) your AC calculation is incorrect 2) your number of healing surges is incorrect 3) the attack calculation with your rapier is incorrect 4) the damage calculation with your rapier is also incorrect 5) the ki focus is incorrectly named 6) you need to state what benefit your gain from your chosen background.

I then made the change under Quick Lookup to reflect the attack and damage changes as well. Yep, just wanted to make sure you had the calcs correct on it. Giving you a journal now. Cool, thanks for the help!

Do you mind showing us your calculations? 5) how is Shadow Master a free feat to you? This is not an expertise feat. 1. Here is how I got to the stats I have DEX18+2 race/Int14+2 lv 4/Con11/STR10/CHA10/ WIS 8+2 Race 2. Added surges 3. Added class bonus 4. Here is how I got my AC +2 leather/ +1 Magic/ +5 Dex/+1 Two-Weapon Defense 5. Moved the feats around so shadow master is not the free feat 6. Here is how I got the hand crossbow damage +5 Dex /+1 magic /1d8 Ruthless Hunter 7. Selected additional skill 8. +3 perception came from Skill Focus 9. They are the assassin encounter and daily power...did I select from the wrong list. will have mechanical background before I play this character all the "how I got this" info is also on other notes section of the character sheet At 1: That is not how the level 4 boost works. It is a +1 to two stats. At 4: So that Two Weapon Defense would be a feat ? At 5: apparently completely misunderstanding me. How is Great Fortitude a free feat to you? At 6: I asked for the attack calculation, not the damage calculation At 9: i suggest you look up the executioner in the compendium. It is a step by step guide on how to build them. Need to have a mechanical background selected before you start on the journal, please, so we can judge if you are correctly incorporating its effects 1. I split up the lv 4 boost 4. yes two weapon defense is a class feat, I did remove from my AC because I will not be using 2 melee all the time 5. Got rid of Great Fortitude select Ki Focus Expertise 6. fixed hand crossbow did not notice proficiency was +2 not +3 7. Relooked at class description and removed the encounter and dailies that I had...I confused assassin and executioner. Mechanical background selected Occupation - Infiltrator to me it fit how I plan to RP this character. https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1156569 Well, that is quite a remake. 1. Not sure were I am messing up my AC base 10 half lv +2 Arm +2 Abil +5 enh +1 = 20 (I have two weapon defense but I primarily us rapier and hand crossbow not two melee weapons) 2. Forgot CON bonus so I added 1 3. not sure here also 1/2 lv 2 Abil +5 Prof +3 Misc (magic ki focus)+1=11 4. Same 1d8+ abil +5 ki focus +1=1d8+6 5. Added the +1 6. Added Background Benefits

I assume your level 5 feat is supposed to be the free feat at level 1. Please label it as such You need to buy your big 3. No questions asked. Weapon, armor, neck should be magical before anything else. You need to label your badge of the berserker as +1 It is not required, but it is suggested that you take a look at themes and backgrounds. Also your character needs to have some sort of backstory or personality written up for him so you have some way to roleplay him at table. Beyond that everything looks good. You are likely going to have to sell your Iron Armbands to afford the armor you should start with, but other than fixing those few things you are good to go.

Would it be possible to add in a mech. background and theme before the Level 7 mulligan? Thx

Edit: I added a journal entry for you. Go ahead and start working on the macros. Join Game -> Journal and you will see your entry there.
