Post Character Sheets Here! (Archived, Closed 1/12/18)

Ragna W. said: I have read the Basic Rules/FAQI have read the New Player Checklist. I have downloaded the Portable Compendium or have access to the Online Compendium. Below is a link to my character sheet which I have made using the above resources. <a href="https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1176039" rel="nofollow">https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1176039</a> Hi Ragna, welcome to the Guild Living campaign. 1) as you seemingly bought +1 armor and neck item, please explain where the +2 enhancement bonus comes from in your defense calculations 2) could you please show us how you got to 8 healing surges per day, what was the calculation there ? 3) as a more general remark, this is a team game. If you try to cover each ability and possibility, you will end up good at none. Rather I would advice you to specialize and focus on the things you can do well, and have your teammates get good at the things they focus on. For that reason I would advice you to review your chosen ability scores. This is not technically wrong. Seeker do not need Intelligence, nor as far as I know do they have any need of Charisma. As it currently stands your defenses and your accuracy lower than it could be. This might get in the way of both your characters contribution to the team, and your enjoyment of playing this character. 4) Why did you pick&nbsp;a feat at level 3? 5) Your Biting Swarm attack calculation is incorrect. As it is a weapon attack, it would benefit from proficiency. At the same time I do not know where the +1 miscellaneous bonus to both attacks comes from 6) In both damage calculations, where does the +1 feat bonus to damage come from, and where does the +1 miscellaneous bonus come from? 7) As a more general note, since Biting Swarm counts as a Ranged Basic Attack, not sure what or when the Bow Basic attack and damage calculation will prove useful. I would suggest you do the Infernal Wrath math instead, as a power completely different from your class powers in structure and application. 8) What weapon is your Challenge Seeking Weapon? That name is incorrect / incomplete 9) You have two neck items, not sure why, please specify which your character will be wearing 10) You have two weapons, both incompletely/incorrectly named, which do you plan on wielding? 11) You have two armors, one of which incompletely / incorrectly named, which one do you plan on wearing? 12) Encaging Spirits is not a power based on a feat but rather on a feature. Please correct. 13) Warding Arrow is not a level 1 utility. 14) On page three there are a lot of unnecessary capital letters. If you're trying to indicate something with that, it is lost on me. Not wrong, just left me puzzled. Once you've had a chance to review above, please repost. Ideally once again with a link to your sheet, and explain what you did to address above. Many people answer with "fixed" or "done" and all it does is make a DM search for what was fixed or done. If you are not yet part of this campaigns Skype chat, contact one of the DMs to get added. We discuss many aspects of D&D 4e, arrange for impromptu games and answer questions. My handle is baldhermit.

Look at your 3 items. &nbsp;Look at the format you used for your other 2 items. &nbsp;Use that format for your neck. &nbsp;I will not approve your character sheet until you follow the most basic part of this instruction. 8. You do not seem to understand or, if you do, you have it very poorly labeled. &nbsp;Either relabel it correctly or remove it from the sheet and assume you do not have it at all. &nbsp;I will not approve a character sheet that has incorrect things on it to get to the next step of the process. 11. Please label your feats. &nbsp;Far Shot and Master at Arms should both be labeled Free (If that is your guild expertise feat and your rogue weapon talent) You have your weapon listed as a Superior Crossbow. &nbsp;Which does not actually work with any of your rogue stuff (you can't sneak attack with it for example) so I'm slightly confused. &nbsp; Are you sure you want to use the superior crossbow instead of getting Sneak Attack? &nbsp;Since you took Backstabber I assume the answer is that you overlooked that a Superior Crossbow cannot be used for Sneak Attack. While you are welcome to take the Improved Cunning Sneak feat, please be vary aware that the Rules of Hidden Club are some of the more complex rules in the edition. &nbsp; Also that some groups will look very unfavorably on those who devote a lot of resources into becoming hidden for a variety of reasons. &nbsp;I'm not saying don't do it, I'm saying it is complicated and during play you might want to note how it affects your ability to contribute to the team. Unaligned is what alignment you are going for with 'none' Your first three items need to be weapon, armor and neck. &nbsp; You did not pick a neck. &nbsp; While the bracers are cool, being alive to move through the trees is probably a good idea. Label your powers. &nbsp;Use and level please. &nbsp;Like it shows you in the video. All of that Mundane equipment goes on the first page under 'other items'. &nbsp; In the long run you will need all of that space for your magic items. You need to break down how you spent your money. &nbsp;I did the math and I got a different number from you (and you will need to redo a thing or two once you get your necklace). You have a Misc +2 which I assume is supposed to be the +2 Reflex for your class. &nbsp; Please put it under class. Please list your skill bonuses somewhere. &nbsp;I don't see where the +2 Athletics is coming from and it makes the job of the DM much easier if you show where you get your stuff so we can quickly check stuff off. Please include things with different bonuses in your workspace. &nbsp; For your character RBA and MBA are really good things to include in there since you use Dex for most of your attacks and your range and melee weapon are different. In your description you list a pet owlbear, but from what I can see you don't have one? &nbsp; You also have not picked a background or theme. &nbsp; While not required they do add a little more depth and power to a character and, since you already have an owlbear written into your backstory, why not take it adventuring with you and be a Fey Beast Tamer? I see you started on fleshing out the character, but if you can take a moment to put a little bit of personality into the character. &nbsp;Likes/Dislikes/Hobbies/Mannerisms can really help the character come alive at table. &nbsp; While the brooding masked mysterious figure is fun to watch in movies it frequently doesn't have the impact at table people are going for. &nbsp;Make sure you make a character that has a personality that is fun to play so the character is more than a sheet of stats. &nbsp; If you want some help or want to do some brainstorming, feel free to talk to your guild mates in the guild skype chat. Respond to the corrections in list form and we can go from there.

So I hope you do not hold it against the Seeker class, some DM, or your teammates when your character spends most of combat face down in the mud.&nbsp; That said, if you hit Join Game, there will be a journal waiting to be filled out. Once you think you're done with that, please notify a DM. Such can be done by posting a message on here, but quicker / easier is a message on Skype.

Hello everyone. I'm one of the new ones and just finished my character ^^ Hope everything is fine and I didn't miss anything. I have read the Basic Rules/FAQ. I have read the New Player Checklist. Anything below 18 by level 5 I would consider low. As a result you will have a more than fair chance of missing, which effects into a useless turn. 2) Under the quick lookup, you have incorrectly marked your armor bonus as a 9. The armor is also not marked as 'heavy' 3) while your armor has an enhancement bonus, this is not listed in your AC calculation 4) I understand you put the defense bonus to Fortitude, Reflex and Will from your race under misc. However, why is there a +2 for Fort and a +2 for Will? I think you may have misplaced the class bonuses. 5) The attack workspace is woefully bare. Attack one is partially filled out and doesn't even describe what attack has been calculated. Attack 2 apparently was not attempted. I would suggest one weapon attack and one attack you make with a holy symbol. 6) Damage 2 apparently was also not attempted. 7) you cannot take the hybrid talent feat more than once. 8) Your power markings have left me confused. Are you trying to say you picked a level 1 enconter power for your level 3 slot, and a level 1 daily for your level 5 slot, or do you think you can have one power of each class for each level and forgot to upgrade past level 2? 9) You spent more gold than you could have. Considering you do not have the stats to make ranged attacks that can hit anything short of a broad side of a barn, I would suggest you undo that purchase. After that you will still need to find some other means of spending less. 10) Elvish is not a language, Elven is. 11) You can only gain one mechanical benefit from a background. Please list on the first page which background and which benefit this is. While not mandatory, you can select a theme for your character. If you are not yet part of the Guild Skype chat, please contact one of the DMs to be added. My handle is baldhermit. Please review above, and repost when you're ready. Please do not reply with "fix" or "done", but rather explain what you changed to save the next DM significant effort.

I am aware, I was going for a sniper build so I could supply long range damage, sneaking behind the party I would also have a Young Owlbear in close-quarters to help my allies by providing flanking and the damaging aura. 4. Unaligned was too long to show up in the box properly, so I typed "None." 5. I did not realize that I NEEDED to select those as my first three items.&nbsp; 6. Alright. 7. OK. 8. I did not take into account the necklace. Like I said above, I did not realize that I needed it. If you are saying that I miscalculated the amount that I had spent, I apologize and I will fix it. 9. My b, I don't use myth-weaver's often. 10. I will have to dig for that. I am using a character builder and I have no earthly idea why it is a 9. 11. Will do. 12. I did take Fey beast tamer, but I did not see where to write my theme. 13. I made no attempt to make my character seem brooding or mysterious, only masked. I was going to flesh out the character's backstory in a way that matched his kit after the character was approved by you. Seeing that the superior crossbow does not work with sharpshooter, It makes me happy that I did not write out in the general direction I had in mind. Please give me some time to make these adjustments to my character.

@Asa Take all the time you need. &nbsp; When you repost, please quote the post so I can see a timeline of fixes to work from more easily. Also my corrections and notations are meant to be helpful. &nbsp;I'm not trying to hound you about any of these things, but want to help you make a character you will enjoy on the other end of the process.

Thanks hermit for your response and taking your time to look over the sheet. 1) Changed the race bonus from +2 CON to +2 STR so Strength is at 19, also adjusted&nbsp;HP after that.&nbsp; 2) Corrected armor bonus from 9 to 8 and marked armor as heavy. 3) Put the enhancement&nbsp;bonus on my AC calculation 4) Fixed the defense bonuses and listed them now at their correct places, should be clearer now for everyone. 5 and 6) Filled the attack and damage workspaces out, forgot that in the first place.&nbsp; 7) Changed one Hybrid Talent Feat (Commanding Presence) with Human&nbsp;Perseverance. 8) Changed power markings to make it easier to understand. 9) Took away vicious longbow +1, arrows and quiver. Checked my expenses, I should still have 605 Gold left. 10) Changed that into Elven. 11) Corrected this and listed the chosen background on the first page. 12) Picked also a Character Theme (Bloodsworn) and listed it on the first page. Thanks for pointing them out. 4) I confused Human Perseverance's rule text, thinking it was for the defenses and then finally realizing that you&nbsp;only add the +1 for saves only, so I took the feat bonus on Fort/Ref/Will away. Sorry for the mess up here. The Class bonuses come from Hybrid Paladin (+1 Fortitude, +1 Reflex, +1 Will) and Hybrid Warlord (+1 Fortitude, +1 Will). As on PHB 3 &nbsp;page 135, it is written that you add both of the class bonuses of the two hybrid classes which you chose. I hope that this clears things up. 5 and 6) Switched Holy Strike with On Pain of Death (my level 5 Daily) and put the bonus from Devout Protector Expertise on the attack calculation&nbsp;for both of my attacks. 11) Good to know, but I think it's up to the situation. If I ever should come to the situation to use a second wind then it's nice to have the +2 on my next attack roll.&nbsp; I have read the Basic Rules/FAQ. I have read the New Player Checklist. I changed a couple things about my new character. I changed my CHA from 13 to 10, and my DEX from 10 to 13. Also, I switched one of my Wild Talent Cantrip choices from Far Hearing to Mental Tools. Please go over the changes when you can! (: Thanks. <a href="https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1164162" rel="nofollow">https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1164162</a>

Some hybrid class&nbsp;entries give you a choice of which defense to apply a&nbsp;bonus to. This means each class will give you a +1 to one defense. Not a +1 to all the defenses listed. Once you think you're done with that, please drop a message here, or better via Skype, to get one of the DMs to check it out. If that works out, he or she can set you up with a token.

I would strongly urge you to read step 5 of the New Player checklist again. Please pick one of the top 4 listed arrays there, and place your highest score in the stat a sorcerer needs most. I dislike telling people how they must build this character, but I fear that as the build currently is you will find playing with this character is no fun at all. You will miss a lot, you will get hit a lot, and none of your skills are of such a level that there is not a team mate around who can do the same better. 2) Looking at gear it completely escapes me why you would buy a crossbow and bolts. What I can say is that the armor you bought needs typed (cloth, leather, hide, chain, scale, plate). 3) You have an armor with an enhancement bonus. That enhancement bonus is missing from the AC calculation. 4) For the attack calculation of your melee basic attack I would suggest you look up your chosen weapon and what its proficiency bonus is. 5) For your secondary attack calculation, I do not know what a magic basic is. 6) For your damage calculations it would appear you have missed out on a class feature as well as the enhancement of the chosen weapon or implement, while at the same time there is a feat bonus there I cannot trace. 7) skills : Acrobatics is not a class skill for sorcerers, and as such cannot be trained. How did you get training in Acrobatics ? 8) powers : at level 1 you are entitled to a level 1 daily power. At level 5 you are entitled to a daily power of level 5 or below. You seem to have chosen 2 level 5 daily powers. How does your character have access to that? 9) how do you have access to disciplined wild soul ? While not wrong, you appear to not have selected a theme, or the benefit of a mechanical background. Neither of these is mandatory, but can give your character more flavor and or power. Please review above, and repost when you've had a chance.

This will also affect your defense calculations. 2) AC : you have a +1 armor, so that does not explain the +2 enhancement listed. Please also note that this will change as your Dex score changes. 3) Reflex and Will will clearly be different once you have adjusted your attribute scores 4) As you took melee training, I would suggest one of your attack and damage calculations should be for a melee basic attack with that dagger 5) Your class bonus to attacks, as far as I know, is +1. Why did you list a +2? Weapon Master, which you listed as a class feature, is a level 16 feature. 6) your chosen class is listed as a specific example in the feat choice part of the New Player Checklist. You are entitled to have an additional free feat, any of your choice. 7) while not technically wrong, I feel I should point out that the distance enhancement of a longbow will rarely get into play, and you might want to consider a different choice. 8) while also not technically wrong, I fail to see what benefit you gain from your theme as you cannot have a level 2 utility from your class and one from your theme. Same for level 5 daily or any other slot. Please review the above and repost when you are ready. It would be helpful to the next DM if you explain what you changed rather than just posting "changed" or "fixed". I initially had +2 armor, but swapped when I realized how much gold I needed, so I dropped it to +1. 3) That should be fixed as of "1)", please let me know if it's still not right. 4) Melee dagger is now the 2nd set of calculations, I would like to know if it's correct, mainly if I do have prof with it. 5) Ranger (Hunter)s get Weapon Talent (+1 to weapon attack rolls) at level 1, and Weapon Master (additional +1) at level 5. I posted it in my shorthand by putting them together. They are now separated and show what levels I get them at. 6) Must have read it wrong. I thought that was to replace my Bow Expertise. Grabbed Alertness. 7) I like it more for flavor, but Aspect of the Seeking Falcon removes the attack penalty for Long Range, so I also think having an extended range could be useful. 8) I like both the flavor and the abilities I can get from my theme, but I did not know the restrictions. I have gotten rid of the level 2 power (I have darkvision naturally, so no big loss), and the level 5 power (I prefer my class skill). <a href="https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1177938" rel="nofollow">https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1177938</a>

From the New Player Checklist Step 5: Stat Array - Yes there are a ton of arrays available to you. As a new player, while you are learning the ropes, you probably want to pick one of these: 18/14/11/10/10/8 That array is the first listed option. &nbsp; If you are asking about what the +4/+2/-1 is talking about, those are the modifiers of the three different things with modifiers in that array (18 is +4 Mod, 14 is +2 mod and 8 is -1 mod). &nbsp;Talking about them separately is rarely helpful, which is why I just list the arrays.

Despite both being types of rogue they are separate classes, and your character is only a member of one of them. You'll have to pick one. 2) You need to note down that your current XP total is 5500. 3) It's advised to focus more on the ability scores directly related to your character's role. Intelligence and wisdom don't offer much to a rogue, and it's strongly recommended to have at least an 18 in your primary combat stat by level 5, so moving some points into dexterity would make your character much more effective. 4) Your listed reflex defence and HP (and subsequently bloodied and surge values) are incorrect. 5) Your quick lookup should be used to list the attack bonuses and damage values of your attacks, with attack bonuses in the Attack column and damage in the Damage column. Sneak attack doesn't need its own entry. 6) Diplomacy isn't a class skill for rogues, so you can't have it trained. 7) Situational skill bonuses such as those provided by Vile Scholar shouldn't be listed on the sheet, since it automatically adds them into your total bonus. 8) Sneak attack and your chosen rogue weapon talent should be listed under class/path/destiny features, should you decide to play a scoundrel rogue. 9) All characters gain one free expertise feat. As a dagger-wielding rogue, Light Blade Expertise is the most appropriate for your character. 10) Quick Draw can be a useful feat if you plan on switching weapons frequently, but as you only have a dagger it won't be useful for your character. If the initiative bonus is important to you, Improved Initiative would be a more appropriate feat. Once you've made the appropriate changes, please leave a reply detailing the changes made.

This is not fixed. If you are playing a thief, you do not get rogue powers in addition to thief features and have not listed skill mastery as a class feature, trained an additional skill for having skill mastery or accounted for the weapon finesse feature in your damage calculations. You would also need to specify that you are a thief in the class line. If you are playing a scoundrel, you do not get thief features or powers. 3. Guild adventures are designed under specific assumptions of PC optimisation which the majority of characters conform to. It is your decision in the end, but I can guarantee that you will lag behind other players with this array. 4. Your reflex is listed as 28. This is very incorrect. 8. All your class features should be listed there, not just the ones that are specific to one kind of rogue. It is especially important if you are a scoundrel, as they have a choice of multiple different weapon talents. 10. Guild DMs will not expect you to take actions at the start of fights to draw your weapons. You can keep the feat if you want, but it will not be necessary or useful.

1: should be now.. 3: you might be surprised what I'm capable of, once I get everything I need figured out 4: I didn't write that, calculations on m-w were wrong somehow, this should now be fixed 8: that should be fixed now, as per 1 10: keeping it anyways

DM's do not know in advance what kind of party they will face, so they balance any combat encounters their adventures might have around basic assumptions about player characters. They also normally scale the encounter difficulty for the number of players, so a team of 6 players will face a significantly more difficult encounter than a team of 4 players. With a poor ability score array, you will not be able to consistently land your big powers and will get hit more often than expected, neither of which is fun, and which can't be accounted for by the DM, unlike a conventional campaign, as the DM does not know your character in advance. Therefore, if a character significantly underperforms relatively to base assumptions, it is also an issue for both the DM and all of the players in the party, as the encounters will be significantly more dangerous than intended and thus less fun for everyone involved. While full on optimisation is neither recommended nor supported, some measure of basic functionality is thus required from all characters. As is, your character would simply not be hired by the Guild in-universe due to being less competent than the Guild expectations and thus being a danger to bring on adventures.
Jay R. said: Okay, first alt and first caster. I hope I'm not too far off and I apologize in advance for any pain this cause the reviewer.&nbsp; I have read the Basic Rules/FAQ. I have read the New Player Checklist. I have downloaded the Portable Compendium or have access to the Online Compendium. Below is a link to my character sheet which I have made using the above resources. <a href="https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1179162" rel="nofollow">https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1179162</a> Hey Jar, good to see you're working on a second. 1) Under quick look up, can you explain the +4 armor bonus? This also leads to a +7 in your AC calculation for armor + ability that I do not understand. And if it is the light shield you may have equipped, you forgot to add it to your reflex defense. 2) your surges / day is incorrect, can you please show the calculation ? 3) you took improved defenses, but I do not see that in your defense calculations 4) your attack calculation for Staggering Note has a +2 enhancement bonus in it I do not find reflected in your chosen gear 5) as Staggering Note is not rolled damage, it does not get an enhancement bonus to it's damage expression. Perhaps doing the math on vicious mockery would be better. 6) Elvish is not a language While not mandatory, it would appear you did not select the mechanical benefit of a background nor a theme. Both of those can give your character power and flavor. Please review above, and repost when you've done so. I would like to ask to please not reply with "fixed" and "done" but rather indicate what you've changed, so as to make the next review by by perhaps some other DM easier.

There are multiple issues I pointed out in my previous post that have not been addressed. 4) Regardless of who was to blame for the error, it was clearly present on the sheet and you should have seen and fixed it when I first noted the issue.&nbsp; I assume you didn't notice these issues because you were rushing the process. I won't be checking over your sheet again for another 24 hours, so please use this time to check over both your sheet and your class description more thoroughly and fix all of the issues I raised.

As per Finesse, 4th adds a dmg modifier, no other version I have EVER played does.. I made a few assumptions based on experience which were incorrect. Understand that I much want to get to playing, and nit-picking a sheet to death over minor things that are EASY to miss, that's a bit vicious. 4: maybe I trusted the "auto-filling" sheet too much, that's apparently my mistake. I glanced over it as I figured it was correct 8: I don't even understand what you mean, because I CLEARLY stated that I was "Rogue(Thief)"

I had free time so I thought I'd answer you to get this thing rolling Lets do top to bottom shall we? 1. Your stat array is labeled as 16/14/13/12/11/10, but then you have marked that you add +2 Con for race and +1 Con for LV4 bump (13 or more depending on how you place the array, but your Con is marked as 12), so fix your stats. This will result in changes with anything that has to do with your stats, so we get to those later 2. You have given yourself a reminder for conditional CA bonuses but not conditional Bloodhunt bonuses, I find this odd to say the least, but no need to do anything about this. 3. Your Theme bonuses to skills need to go to the Temp slot, not the Misc slot, as you cannot apply them to all checks made with the skills 4. Your Equipment is faulty to the level of "You need to read the new player checklist again" Step 9 5. The Utility powers that Themes give are options to your normal Utility powers, so you cannot have both the Theme Level 2 Utility and the Thief&nbsp;Level 2 Utility
