Thank you. The tutorial was terribly bugged for me so I didn't know most of these things
Hi, I'm on my journey to understand and master macros, and got a doub about something I'm trying to achieve. When I have a macro with a input value prompt, the var can be passed from the chat with #d20 4. If I have an Ability, can I pass a variable within the %{selected|Ability1} call? How?
Hi, great set up. Is there a way to transfer maps from one game to another?

On a free account, the only way is by copying the game. With a Pro Subscription, you can use the Transmogrifier to copy maps (and just about anything else) across.

Hey, Victor P. ! That's a very commendable journey! Frequently-changing variables within Abilities are usually set up as Roll Queries (and sometimes as Attributes , especially when paired with the API Pro feature , which can modify Attribute values).

Also, if I already have a macro that starts with /em or /desc, is there a way to /w or /o the execution of that macro? These are great questions for the Specific Use and Macros forum, but I'll answer them here: Sounds like Roll Queries are what you're looking for, e.g. /w ?{Player|Jack|Jill|Jim} ?{Message} No, Chat Commands are mutually-exclusive. However, GMs can use /emas to effectively combine /em with /o Thank you so much! :) 1. Is there a /descas also for combining /desc with /o? 2. Is there a way to enclose multiple lines of macro within a single chat? I mean lines with <enter> between them, so they don't appear on all different chats.
I need to contact customer support about something funny going on in one of my games. At a previous session, a player drew a grossly obscene image on the game map. I kicked that player. Now, somehow, I've had a player join the game whom I don't recall inviting, and my records don't reflect my inviting them. I'm getting paranoid about hacking here.

No, but /desc doesn't include the GM's name, so it already acts like /emas You can press Shift+Enter to insert a line break within a chat message. Otherwise, Roll Templates are good for condensing information.
Why doesn't this macro work (it outputs nothing except the query prompt): /w gm ?{Chance|5} rolling encounter chance [[d100<Chance]]

Thanks, that worked. :) Instead of having to type in an incrementing 5% chance, can I get it to increment automatically on each roll?

The VTT is system agnostic so you can certainly play Atomic Highway here. The only limitation is how you implement the various mechanics: cards, unique dice etc... Regardless Roll20 should have you covered :) As for players, if you are willing to run it you can bet that there are many people willing to play it... or even already playing it! Take a read of the OP of this thread and get stuck in!

ReddtheRage said: i left a looking for a group post i dont know if i did it right ? Looks right to me, please note that due to the large number of players compared to the number of GMs, DMs, LMs, MCs etc patience is needed to secure a group. However, that doesn't stop you scouring the LFG tool for games to join and networking, the best way to find that golden group is to get yourself out there :) Please note that since Atomic Highway isn't a listed game in the drop down yet (this is based on system popularity among other factors) you can search using the 'other games' option or simply using keywords to look for Atomic Highway. (although there might not be any at present...)

Traditionally, players fill out the Character Sheet tab of a Character within their DM/storyteller's Game after being assigned that Character by their DM/storyteller. Within a Game, only the Creator or a promoted GM are able to add Characters and assign them to players . Alternatively, if you are able to export Characters into your DM/storyteller's Game, you may opt to create a Character within your own Game , and then transfer that Character to your DM/storyteller's Game using the Character Vault .

I'm learning fast about GMing on Roll20, but I'm still having major issues with younger players. There is one specific player in a system-learning game who is stressing me out and burning me out because of their age. I sent that player a private message asking what I should do about it--they're enthusiastic and seem to be enjoying themselves, so I don't want to kick them--but they might not be cognitively developed enough to understand that question. A system-learning game is not the same as public school or daycare. While I feel that I'm competent to teach a system, I'm not competent to run a public school or daycare and don't want to. What can I do to avoid hurting the feelings of kids who don't understand what the hell I'm saying when I try to explain the problem I'm having dealing with them?
How do I deselect the Text tool? I'm getting really frustrated at not finding information on that.

One-Eyed Jack said: sometimes changing tools does not deselect the text tool Ah—the easiest way to remove your browser's focus from an active text box is to hit the Escape key. This tip was previously only found on the Advanced Shortcuts page of the Wiki, but I just now added it to Drawing Tools page.
I've finally talked my friends into trying out playing on here instead of all driving over an hour to get together.. not that I'm against it but we've all got families and schedules are tough! Anyway... I have a question. The only reason they agreed to play here is that there is now official D&D content here. If I buy one of the modules but don't plan on being the GM.. does someone else in the campaign have access to it? Do we all have to buy the module in order to all use the content? Not sure how that works.

Kevin. The games creator needs to purchases the modules as it is tied to his account. Only that person needs to purchase it. He can promote another player to co-gm in that game so they can run it. It is also usually recommended that if one of the people is a subscriber, they become the game creator so that various subscription features will be enabled for the game (the features that are geared for the game and not personal).

I have a practice game just for myself and am trying to use the map upload feature, and the game room is so incredibly buggy it's not even worth filing a bug report. I use GiMP and a grid in GiMP to create maps. When I put them in the game room, they never line up with the grid in the game room. No matter how I measure the corridors and rooms when drawing the map in GiMP, they look like crap in the game room because it's impossible to get their edges to line up with the lines in the map room grid. Fine stretching of my map to make it fit is just not possible. It jitters to a fixed location that is not the one I want. Tokens go wherever they damned well want to go even if their positioning makes no sense in terms of my map. I can't use fine adjustment to get a token to go in a precise location. I tried to delete the map in my practice room but the Delete All Drawings function doesn't work. It gives me the confirmation dialog and then nothing happens. I also can't select the map any more in either the Map Layer or Token Layer. The map grid in the game room is more like an Alpha than like a Beta. I'm really disappointed.

Here are a few things to try: 1) When you've dragged your image onto the tabletop, right click it and choose Advanced -> Set Dimensions , then select Units and put in the number of squares width and height. 2) If you have a grid drawn on your map, change the grid color on the page settings to transparent. Be sure your map is on the Map layer.
Thanks. What are the pixel dimensions of the grid squares in the game room?

70 x 70 pixels is the size of 1 unit. For tokens or highly detailed things, you probably want to use 140 x 140 pixels so you don't get pixelation at 200% zoom. I like to set up my GIMP project to use 1 inch equals 70 or 140 pixels so that I can use the inches unit to specify grid based sizing.

I'm thinking of using a game I legally own as inspiration for a Roll20 game. In order to maintain the comfort of the Roll20 Team and the company that owns it, please let me know: 1) how my version must be different from the original game to have a place on Roll20; and 2) what, if any, references to the original game I am permitted to make in my Roll20 game and on the game listing. Thanks for your assistance.
