Some issues came up in my D&D game last night: Even after being warned about it, everyone was still a bit confused about the recent change made where clicking the name of an action does not do a roll. Even spells worked differently. It was very confusing. And all of the people in my game (6 of us) wanted it changed back. When autorolling damage, modifiers were not added. This has been mentioned already but I wanted to include it here for completeness. It used to be that when manually rolling damage, it showed the results of the roll. Now, the results are somewhat hidden and you have to open the details, and hover over the roll to see what the actual number rolled was. This slows things down if you have features or traits that allow re-rolling, or changing the value. For example, if you have the Tavern Brawler feat, you can re-roll a 1. If you have Great Weapon Fighting fightiing style, all 1s and 2s count as 3s. So you need to know the number rolled if you have these traits. The new display makes this more complicated and, as I said, slows down the game. When taking a short rest, I asked the system to roll 3 hit dice to recover hit points. The system only rolled 1. Because of the way the 2024 sheet is built, there is no way to look at the number of hit dice you have left, so I couldn't tell if the system deducted 3 hit dice or 1. Because there is no way to "spend" hit dice without taking a "short rest", it is not possible to "spend" hit dice to activate various features. For example, the Arcane Vigor spell, the Durable feature, and the Lifedrinker invocation all allow you to "spend" hit dice outside of a short rest, in order to activate their features. You can't fudge this by taking a "short rest" since the "short rest" resets resources on several subclasses, and, additionally, adds the Constitution modifier by default. Arcane Vigor doesn't use the Con modifier, it uses the Spellcasting modifier. The Durable feat doesn't use any modifier. Fixing this needs to be a priority for Roll20. We need to be able to see how many hit dice we have left, and to "spend" them outside of rests and specify the modifier to use, if any. Because of the change made that clicking the name of a spell doesn't cast the spell, it puts text into the chat, certain spells now put multiple things into the chat. For example, clicking on Arcane Vigor to cast it, not only opens the box asking what level to cast it at, but also now puts two entries into the chat, neither of which actually does anything: Other spells that actually do something, still put two entries into the chat - the first is just a block that gives the details, the second is the casting where you can also get the details, making the first entry entirely superfluous: Clicking the thing in the Damage column, like the way Combat actions are set up, does nothing. So, there's no consistency between tabs on how this now functions. PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS WHERE CLICKING THE NAME CASTS THE SPELL OR DOES THE ATTACK.
