Hi Kayla it has been built in December January so yes I suppose it is older. how can I try to fix without rebuilding it? NOTE: tried to level up and fix some yellow spell selections but no luck Kayla F. said: Andrea L. said: while the new spell management is exceptionally cool I still see some m minor issues for example the druid is marked to have 23 spell to prepare. this is a 13 level circle of the moon druid (BTW, Nicole do you remember the suggestion to add the subclass in the area where name, class race and background are...) so 17 the number should be 17 6  more are from the subclass but these are always prepared so, like cantrips and fey touched, these should not be counted in the total in my opinion thanks Andrea Is this an older character? We put out a fix for this but it's possible it may not fix older characters. Let me know and I can dig deeper into this if it is a newer character.

I noticed that the spells added through the Character Builder are linked to their corresponding Effects, so they only appear when the Spell is prepared. Unfortunately, I have been unable to do this manually. Is it currently possible and I am missing something or is this feature not available for manually added spells? Also, how do I input the values for upcasting manually added spell attacks/heals? Is this available for manually added spells? I see the info window where I can type the description but I can't seem to find where I should input the actual values.

Hello,  let me first highlight that I'm really happy about the spell revision in the Char builder, as it allows to actually build a Warlock. It is a massive improvement - good job! So, I created a fighter 1/warlock 1 and started playing around with the spell section of the sheet and found some issues (bugs?) which I am not sure whether they have been reported, yet. First of all csting Armor of Agathy results in odd results in the chat window. If I click on the spell in the spell section I get funny results. A "55" bonus is called out. If I click on the heal button of the spell listed in the attack section I get a "+55" bonus and clicking on the more details buttion a "Other Bonus (Custom) +5" islisted. N either, I understand what the little +55 or the 55 is supposed to tell me nor do I get any clarity about the "Other Bonus (Custom) +5. Clicking on details should reveal some explanation but actually confuses me even more. Not to mention that hovering over the roll results does not do anything, too. Then, when I cast that spell, I am asked if I want to use one of my spell slots. If I confirm that I want to do that, I dont't see any consequences. This question would make sense if one of my pact slots in the spell section of the sheets would get marked as used afterwards, but it isn't. What am I missing? What's the purpose of that question?  Having casted that spell, I would expect my temporary HP to go up but they don't. It does not matter if I use the spell in the spell's secton or if I click on the "heal" button in the attack section of the character sheet. Temp HP won't go up. The only thing happening is the cryptic chat message appearing in the chat window. Not related to that spell but confusing nevertheless, is when I click on spell slot view in the spell section. It is just empty and does not show any spells. I also find confusing the stats that are listed there. CHA stands there separated from the other stats only by some small grey lines. And what does the +5 mean? It neither matches my pb nor my CHA bonus but stands right next to the word CHA (separated by a nearly unvisible grey line) so that one could think that the +5 bonus is supposed to be CHA related in some way. Also Rollover does not bring up any information:  I just started using the new sheet but I am already discouraged from doing that, since I have the feeling that I will bump into more and other problems, that I have not with the 2014 sheet. That's a pity, as I'm really keen on using the 2024 rules. Also, the new sheet has some cool aspects, such as showing specific actions related to spells on the sheet (temp HP from AoA for example) that make me wanne try. Is there a timeline for getting some or all of these aspects addressed in the near future?    Thanks!

In regards to that "55", that's an artifact of the way rolls are displayed. Typically, you will see the (incomplete) roll expression, a superfluous die image, and then the roll result. Because the roll is a set amount, there is no die expression, nor a die image to display. So is is showing the big five as the expression, and the small rolls the result, with no spacer in between. It's one more example of the reason I really dislike this method of display. I have pointed this out many times in the past, but it remains the method of displaying this information.
So, back to the Monk's Deflect Attack... I discovered in tonight's game session that the button for the ability (the one under Reactions) works fine (after being adjusted to add the Dex modifier) if the sheet is set to "Automatic", "Disadvantage" or "Advantage" but fails to do anything if set to "Query". Even after clicking the "Roll" button on the page that pops-up, nothing gets rolled in the chat.  Here's what I see on the page that pops up: It doesn't matter what I choose on that page: "Advantage", "Normal" or "Disadvantage", nothing happens - no roll is made. It only functions if "Advantage", "Automatic" or "Disadvantage" is set on the main page.

Also Rollover does not bring up any information:  1. It's weird that it's not using a spell slot as this works for me in testing (unless you have something else on the sheet causing it to be a completely free spell, and if that stops that toggle from spending spell slots then that's excellent). 2. Temp HP isn't really connected to anything on the sheet at all in terms of modifiers. It would be excellent if it was for things like this and Druid's Wild Shape, but right now it's entirely disconnected afaik. 3. CHA is separated from the +5 because technically they aren't the same thing. The CHA is your spellcasting ability, and the +5 is your spellcasting bonus, which is CHA+Prof for you. Keeping them separate means you shouldn't get confused and think that your CHA is +5. Unsure why your prepared spells aren't showing - is it possible that you have a filter hiding them? For Warlock, *all* spells are prepared so they should all always show up there. Works for my warlock players so I'm thinking something went wrong somewhere on your end here (unless something broke within the last week).

But Keith is correct; the number on the right is the correct result and you can safely ignore the roll formula in this instance. With regards to Temporary Hitpoints, like the 2014 sheet we don't do anything but display these. If there are automations here that make sense, we're very open to hear them! With regards to Spell Slots: the sheet should definitely be consuming these when the spell is cast. I can chime in on this one. Token bubbles should behave so that any mathematical subtraction performed on the token bubble should subtract from the temp HP before touching the base HP. There is a mod script that does this, and it is extremely useful.

Sure. It's by the Aaron (of course) and can be found here . Currently, this only works with the 2014 sheet. It's not in the repo,, because it requires a touch of customization in the code, to define which bar you are using for HP, and which token markers you wish to indicate the number of TempHP.

Would you be willing to Private Message me with a link to your game and the name of the affected character? How about we start with any spell that gives you Temporary Hit Points actually give you those temporary hit points? Armor of Agathys is a good example. False Life also comes to mind. I can see other spells like Shapechange being problematic though.
I was just scanning the Change Log for updates on Token Actions for the 2024 sheet, since that was supposed to be on the horizon since February. On April 23rd it says, " Attack roll template is now available for use in macros and token actions!" I'd argue Roll20 should be advertising this as hard as the new Foreground layer, but whatever. More importantly, where do I go to figure out how to do this? I miss my 2014 token action buttons.
How do I turn off Dark Mode on the 2024 sheet?

However, considerable work has been done towards producing the light mode version. A Roll20 dev has posted a Stylus style that users can use as a preview and to provide feedback. The User style can be subscribed to here , and the Discord thread on this can be found here . Note that there were many versions being passed back and forth in that thread. The Stylus link I posted above represents the latest and most official one. As for the Style itself, I find it immeasurably superior and more readable for my own sensibilities and adopted it immediately. Here is a screenshot from that thread (note that the sheet layout is from that period. There have been a few universal layout changes since then.):
some notes from the last session. the weirdest one was that one of the characters rolled initiative and that did appear in the turn order but then 3 others (out of 7) when rolling instead of appearing in the turn order did replace their roll in the first character. no idea way but quite replicable On the spell side while situation is way better there are still a few issues The cleric had the always memorized spell not showing as always prepared. I thought the issue was linked to the new spell build system not properly managing previously created characters so I just tried to rebuild it from 0. While I do like a lot the new spell selector I do have a few request and still some issues request: 1) when selecting a spell from a new level the selector proposes all level up to the highest one as pre chosen and you can deselect levels you do not want to look at. it would be better in my opinion to propose only the highest one and leave the possibility to select lower level spells as normally gaining a new level of spell you look for spells at that level 2) for those that want to add all spell to select from every morning a select all button would accelerate 10x 3) even if you have a spell selected it still appears in subsequent selection that makes difficult to select the right number in case you do not want all of them 4) if you take them all then the selection at an higher level is necessary but moot. also you can do it because of the issue 3 above. then it does not appear twice in the spell list but it is weird. and it would be better to consider it done if they are already all selected at that level ISSUE fey touched and shadow touched are properly selected and always prepared instead the acolyte background should give a cleric always prepared spell through magic initiate. Now. magic initiate allows for selection of all types and while nod ideal I do understand it is a very strange situation so OK if it cannot be fixed BUT I selected cure wounds as the always prepared spell and that does not appear as always prepared (obviously was selected in the all spell list). in the spell list it appears as a selectable magic initiate cleric spell. regards Andrea
I'm currently in a game where one of the players often casts Aid  on some of the rest of us. Aid temporarily adds 5 HP to both the current and the maximum values. However, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to add this to the sheet and turn it on and off. I looked at adding an effect, but none of the choices given are to apply the effect to the HP (or temporary HP for that matter). Does anyone know a way to do this, short of manually editing the values each time? I've already forgotten to change them back from one use of the spell to another. To Roll20: Can this functionality (the ability to apply an effect to HP and/or Temp HP) be added?

Concerning the issue with spell slots on my Warlock. I might be misunderstanding the purpose of the spell slot view but it shows nothing. It does not matter if I prepare my spells or not, if I cast them or not or if I activate the toggle and mark the spell slot as used: the spell slot view remains empty. Concerning the casting of any spells, the window looks like this: I have set no filters nor anything that I know of. I just created the fighter 1/warlock 1 character brand new and started playing with the spell section. Whatever I do, the spell slot would never be marked as used on the character sheet.

On the question for the automatisation, here is my suggestion: it wold be great if Armor of agathys would add some temporary hit points at some point. I totally can live with the 2014 sheet and the way I manually have to add temp HP to my character token. But the 2024 sheet has this green +5 healing action in the attack section: It would be great if that action added temp HP to the character window and you added that suggestion to the sevelopment backlock at some point.  Thanks and keep it up!

The intended method is for all 4 diamonds to be filled in with red (to show that you have 4 full slots remaining), and as you spend them they empty. Your screenshot shows that you have 0/1 spell slots remaining, so if you choose to spend one, there's nothing there to spend. Hadn't considered counting spell slots spent instead of spell slots remaining!

Effects are all temporary, and since healing isn't something that can be done temporarily, it isn't what they're designed for. A player pressing the Aid toggle and then just hitting +5 on the sheet to heal to max isn't really something that takes more than 3 seconds to do anyway.

It's not healing. It's a spell effect that ADDS 5 to Current Hit Points and to Maximum Hit Points. It's not different than other effects that they already support.  And the real problem is remembering to remove the hit points when the spell wears off which I've now forgotten to do TWICE.  Noodle said: Saul J. said: There's only "Hit Point Maximum". For me, it is as follows: - I am a druid with 25 Max HP (Current HP is also 25) - I toggle on my Aid effect, now I have 30 Max HP (Current HP now still 25) - I 'heal' for 5 HP, making my Current and Max the same, as Aid provides that additional change. If I was at 20/25 before Aid, I would update to 25/30 once the toggle was on. - When Aid runs out, I turn the toggle off, now I have 25 Max HP (Current HP still 30), and the game shows this clearly as 30/25 HP on the token. I then reduce my Current HP down to my Max HP. This is how I've used it since the sheet was first released, as Aid was very easy to set up with the basic functionalities given at the time, and all of my players love it and prefer it to how we had to do it on the 2014 sheet. The 5 Hit Points that Aid gives you aren't temporary technically - only the max is. If I was at 5/30 HP when Aid wears out, I wouldn't be at 0/25 HP, which is where using a Toggle falls short. Everything on a toggle is temporarily added when toggled on, and removed when toggled off. I hope this makes my point clearer.

The purpose of spell slot view is to show no spells at all, so you can see how many spell slots you have left without having to scroll past all your actual spells. On the temp HP note: this is something we'd like to add, but is going to come with a larger sweep of cross-sheet applying healing. We can't just auto-apply it to yourself, because spells like Heroism exist. We have plans for cross-sheet interactions like this, but they're still a way off in the future. It's on my personal most-wanted list too.

Everything on a toggle is temporarily added when toggled on, and removed when toggled off. I hope this makes my point clearer. The spell Aid  clearly says that the +5 to the Current Hit Points and the Maximum Hit Points only last for the duration of the spell.  So, yes, when the spell wears off, if you had 5/30, you'd be down to 0/25. That's RAW. And, the reason for the toggle is, because, as I said previously, I keep forgetting to change the stats when the spell wears off. Another reason for the toggle is because if the spell is cast using a higher level slot, the amount of hit points that you get for both your current and maximum go up. What do you do, have multiple effects on your sheet for the spell when cast at level 2, and level 3, and level 4, etc. so that whichever slot the caster uses you're covered? That makes no sense. It also makes no sense to change the toggle each time when manually making the change is easier. This is why a sheet based toggle for the spell that takes into account the level cast (maybe by querying the player) makes more sense.

That's RAW. But when a PC takes damage, aren't temporary HP removed first, before actual HP? The 5 HP remaining would be from the PC's actual HP pool, since the temporary HP would already be gone.

Thank you! I'm feeling even more stupid now and also I am sorry for wasting your guy's time with my apparently wrong understanding of the new spell section mechanics. I still dont understand the purpose of the "Show prepared only" toggle on the spell slot view but this might be me, having no experience with any spellcasters and their spell slots except Warlock . Thanks for the outlook of the temp HP! I'm holding my thumbs :-) Nicole B. said: Der Arkanier said: I'm feeling so stupid right now... Thanks for enlightening me! Still, the spell slot view does not show any spells although I set all of my spells to always prepared.

I believe that's just a setting, one that you would want to stay persistent, despite the view. On slot view, it really doesn't do anything, but the setting button displays regardless. You could click the "hide" X button if you don't need that line after having set your settings.
They're not  temporary hit points. Nowhere in the description of the spell does it say that they are "temporary hit points" as defined in the ruiles. They are real hit points... as long as the spell is active. These HP do not interact with things that address or use temporary hit points such as Armor of Agathys.  So, no, the HP granted by the spell would not "already be gone", and when the spell ends, 5 HP would disappear from both the Current Hit Points and the Maximum Hit Points.  Rick A. said: Saul J. said: The spell Aid  clearly says that the +5 to the Current Hit Points and the Maximum Hit Points only last for the duration of the spell.  So, yes, when the spell wears off, if you had 5/30, you'd be down to 0/25. That's RAW. But when a PC takes damage, aren't temporary HP removed first, before actual HP? The 5 HP remaining would be from the PC's actual HP pool, since the temporary HP would already be gone.
I stand corrected: that spell grants actual hit point, not temporary. I personally would rule that those additional 5 HP would be the first ones lost when a PC takes damage, but that's me.
What if you get healed during that time? Would they be the first regained?  Or never regained, despite the fact that they are HP like any other HP?  Anyway, if you want to set up that house rule (that they would be the rist lost) at your table, that's up to you. But, that would be a house rule.  There still should be a toggle that is run by the sheet workers, like all the other things that are temporary effects that are already supported. I just overlooked that becasue I had not understood the purpose of the functionality to show the prepared spells on a warlock in general. thanks for clarifying.
Monk way of the kensei issue I'm trying to rebuild the characters to see if the past quirks are solved. The monk (2024) has the wrong choice of weapons at level 3 (first screen of the builder while levelling up) with the way of the kensei (Xanathar's...) This is the text of Kensei weapon within the builder itself Kensei Weapons. Choose two types of weapons to be your kensei weapons: one melee weapon and one ranged weapon. Each of these weapons can be any simple or martial weapon that lacks the heavy and special properties. The longbow is also a valid choice.  this is the available list on both selections regards Andrea
I just discovered that selected spell appear indeed as selected in the choice list on a "normal" level up (number 3 below) BUT (number 4 below gets worse) if you have selected all spell then you have nothing to select on the new level up so the only way to solve the warning would be to go back to the previous level selection declare a change, remove 1, save and then go back to the new level and select it.... quite cumbersome I would say Andrea Andrea L. said: some notes from the last session. the weirdest one was that one of the characters rolled initiative and that did appear in the turn order but then 3 others (out of 7) when rolling instead of appearing in the turn order did replace their roll in the first character. no idea way but quite replicable On the spell side while situation is way better there are still a few issues The cleric had the always memorized spell not showing as always prepared. Now. magic initiate allows for selection of all types and while nod ideal I do understand it is a very strange situation so OK if it cannot be fixed BUT I selected cure wounds as the always prepared spell and that does not appear as always prepared (obviously was selected in the all spell list). in the spell list it appears as a selectable magic initiate cleric spell. regards Andrea

another thing. in the default and list view can the level be more evident? you almost lose it to the text  it is almost easier to realise that there is a level change because of the always prepared spells
Druid circle of the moon issue while assuming circle form you do not get the extra points neither as HP nor as temp the circle form seems different from the wild shape se the green heart is not there and the resource utilisation is not there.... Andrea

Ranger recreation issues While trying to recreate the ranger I found one issue and 2 request 1) zephyr strike appears like a 5th level spell while is a 1st level spell from Xanathar 2) in the review tab of the builder can you also show the hit points? an useful review info 3) already asked but worth repeating can you add the subclass in the header of the sheet? for example in parenthesis after the class. it is so bothersome that is not there thanks Andrea
Hi Andrea! David here - I work primarily on the Builder. I think I know what the issue is here with Way of the Kensei's weapon list. Thank you for bringing this to our attention! I've also noted your ask for HP in the Review screen (great call!) and I'm going to look into that incorrect level with Zephyr Strike - very odd, because it's definitely level 1 in the Compendium data. Did you choose that spell normally during level-up, or was it granted by a subclass or feature or some-such? Nicole is better positioned to speak to the more sheet-oriented issues you brought up, such as Spells view feedback and displaying subclass in the header, so I'll leave those to her! Thanks for your thorough feedback. :) Andrea L. said: Monk way of the kensei issue I'm trying to rebuild the characters to see if the past quirks are solved. Hi David Zephyr strike has been chosen regularly in the spell list at level 1st but I did not realize is, even with the first level list where I selected it , marked as a 5th level Also can I ask you to give an evaluation (again?) to three requests I made in a previous post? request: 1) when selecting a spell from a Spell level higher than 1st, the selector proposes all levels up to the highest one as pre chosen and you can deselect levels you do not want to look at. It would be better, in my opinion, to propose only the highest one and leave the possibility to select lower level spells, as, normally, when gaining a new level of spell you look first for spells at that level. 2) for those that want to add all spell (druids, clerics) or almost all, the presence of a "select all" button that select everything and allows you to deselect the unwanted ones would accelerate 10x 3) if you have selected all spell at a certain level of the PC then you have nothing to select when leveling up grants you more spell of the same level (a cleric going from 1st to 2nd level gains one extra first level spell) so, currently,  the only way to solve the yellow warning is to go back to the previous PC level spell selection, declare a change, remove 1, save and then go back to the new level and select the removed spell. This is quite cumbersome. I cannot see an automatic solve as for example I DID NOT select all of the spell (did not select the Tasha copy of a PH2024 spell) so maybe we need a chebox that says "I'm good thanks" with the selection and forces the check from yellow to green? Trying to build a Shadow Monk, the subclass is in the PHB, where's the option? Am I missing something?
Hi Sarah i do see it as a PHB2024 option. to clarify the issue you should state better which manuals you have active and which you expect it from from your screenshot it seems you have only the 2 basic rules neither of which as the shadow monk as an option Andrea Sarah said: Trying to build a Shadow Monk, the subclass is in the PHB, where's the option? land vehicles as tool trying to rebuild the bard he used to have land vehicles as tool proficiency now he cannot. I have, as pertinent, both PHB2024 and xanathar. xanathar seems to sort of say vehicles are tools. PHB2024 not so much. Q: what is the rule to use here? referring to the builder it used to allow me to chose land vehicles  as a prodigy tool proficiency now the list is much shorter.... Q: which is correct? thanks Andrea
