D&D 5E (2024) Character Sheet & Builder by Roll20

Is the @{npc} attribute on the 2024 sheet going to be adjusted to match the 2014 sheet settings? Or is it too late to make that fix? https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/12508921/ The values for @{npc} are not consistent between the 2014 sheet and the 2024 sheet. 2014 PC @{npc} value is '0' 2024 PC @{npc} value is ' on' 2014 NPC @{npc} value is ' 1' 2024 NPC @{npc value is '0'

Hmmmm, I'll keep looking into that one. I still can't replicate it locally but I'll give some of these suggestions a try!
Hello guys, it seems like some of the unique races/classes AC isn't accounted for in new Sheet. for example: Turtle starts with 13 AC, instead of 17. if you try to choose figther turtle, you still have option for light/heavy armor, when turtles can't wear any armor. after that i tried to multiclass into Monk for unarmored defence, AC was still at 13. could you check that out as well? ^^

Yes, it's calculating the base AC incorrectly. It's doing 10+Dex modifier which, as you point out, is wrong. However, it is doing the Unarmored Defense of the Monk correctly: you just have turn the toggle marked "Martial Arts" on, in order for the sheet to recalculate the AC according to the Monk rules.

BTW, I will point out that I think Roll20 has made a bad decision here: They have coupled a number of things into "Martial Arts" that should not be. When you toggle the Martial Arts toggle on, it does a lot of things - it changes the AC, it also changes other things to use Dex instead of Str, and I think more. The Unarmored Defense part of this should be pulled out of the "Martial Arts" toggle into a separate toggle. According to the rules, you can choose one AC calculation, and only one but it need not be the class's calculation, or even the Monk's version if you multiclass. So, for example, if you are a fighter and are wearing heavy armor, like plate armor, you might have a higher AC than what you would have if you used Unarmored Defense. You should be able to use that AND use your other Monk abilities - you shouldn't be restricted only to using Unarmored Defense to calculate the AC. To put this more simply, there should be a "Martial Arts" toggle and an "Unarmored Defense" toggle that are separate - one affects Dex vs Str combat abilities, the other affects AC.

Has anyone found a way to add a weapon that crits on 19 instead of 20? The old sheet was pretty easy, this one I can see an "override crit dice" but I think it's only for the damage not for the attack roll.

So I've been having trouble with the 2024 sheets sometimes not responding when I type in the fields or try to make changes (like when i'm trying to add a note or a new item in the features & traits tab, and I think I finally figured out the pattern...it seems to happen when the sheet layout is in standard rather than compact mode.

The sheet-wide version I did find it, but it's not a great solution as it affects all rolls and by the 2024 rule even ability scores can crit. I was hoping to have one for weapons specific as we have plenty canon weapons that have this feature.

Hi Tara! I've had this problem too. One of my players discovered a solution. If you click on a field and the cursor does not allow you to type, click in the chat entry box and then back on the field. I don't know why it works, but it often solves that problem for us.

I don't know why it works, but it often solves that problem for us. To add to this, clicking on the label for the field can often help here. This is something that's specific to certain setups and we're having trouble pinpointing it enough to make a reproducable ticket, but I am able to reproduce this on standard mode so going to work towards a fix ASAP! Thank you for the feedback on notes, I can especially see how a notes section could get excessively long if you use it to...actually take notes.
Can anyone explain how to add multiple damage types to an attack on the NPC sheet? Compendium monsters have it, yet when you open their sheets they only have the first damage entry.

Hi Anthony B., I assume you are using Statblock view. It is designed to be simple. If you switch to one of the other views you can add extra damage types via the normal process of editing. Then switch back to the Statblock. You can click the Settings button in the top right corner of the sheet to switch views.

Apologies if this has been covered, but I can't figure out the search terms to find the right info. Classic Behavior (for 2014 character sheets and every other non-DND campaign I've run in Roll20): GM or player with edit rights opens the journal entry and sees the character sheet on the first tab, Bio and Info on the second tab. Avatar is displayed large next to the Description in the Bio and Info tab (with some classic wrapping issues, especially when bullets are used). Player with view rights opens the journal entry and see only the Bio and Info tab with the large Avatar. New Behavior (for 2024 character sheet): GM or player with edit rights opens the journal entry and sees the character sheet as the first tab, Bio and Info on the second tab. Avatar is displayed tiny only in the top bar (or on the non-compact character sheet). Player with view rights opens the journal entry and sees the Character Sheet tab with a big warning that they can't edit the sheet, and has to manually move to the Bio and Info tab, where they cannot see the character portrait as anything but the tiny thumbnail at the top. Am I doing something wrong here? I would like to have my NPCs as a character (so I can have a character sheet) while retaining the ability to share them with players so they can see the bio and avatar, but not the character sheet, the way it has always worked. I would prefer to not have to remember to use the 2014 sheet or a handout for every NPC I want the players to see the Bio and Avatar for.

Yeah it's any one I try to make without using the builder. Edit the sheet directly is where the problem is, which is unfortunate because all three of those games I'm playing a custom class.

Is there currently a way to modify the passives through bonuses that are added through features and traits? (e.g. the observant feat)

You click the gear in the "Sences" section on the combat tab, then find the passive you want to change and hit the drop down arrow. There is a box for bonuses.

But I agree with you: Why a "from scratch" item cannot be configured as a Spellcasting source...

Hi this is something I underlined before summer but is still not working. MONK 2024 with way of the Kensei Kensei weapon I get 2 dropdown choices with the same list but I should get a different selection.... thanks Andrea Kensei Weapons. Choose two types of weapons to be your kensei weapons: one melee weapon and one ranged weapon. Each of these weapons can be any simple or martial weapon that lacks the heavy and special properties. The longbow is also a valid choice. You gain proficiency with these weapons if you don’t already have it. Weapons of the chosen types are monk weapons for you. Many of this tradition’s features work only with your kensei weapons. When you reach 6th, 11th, and 17th level in this class, you can choose another type of weapon—either melee or ranged—to be a kensei weapon for you, following the criteria above.

can we get NAT20 to be green? old stylesheet had it and was super good. now it's really hard , unless i open the dropdown
So I've been messing around with the resource boxes not working and pretty much it comes down to this. When the builder adds it, then it works. When you add it, then it does not work. Which really sucks when the builder doesn't add something it's supposed to, like stone run for Rune Knight. Which leaves you with boxes for somethings but no boxes for others, even if you try to add it after because manual entry doesn't work.
How do you change the spell list (Druid, Cleric or Wizard) when choosing the Magic Initiate origin feat? The sheet automatically selects the Druid spell list and see no way to change that.

Hi there, I'm sorry if some of this has been discussed already. I tried looking through and didn't see my exact issue but the history is pretty long so I might have missed something. I was looking at trying to use the new 2024 character sheet and cannot get the character builder to work at all. I created a game and loaded all the content I have in (2024 books, Tasha's, Xanathar's), free 2014 & 2024 versions. I added a new character, clicked to use the builder, and it just sat saying "loading" indefinitely. I tried multiple times, and maybe 1/12 tries to create a character actually led to the builder loading. I changed the game settings to remove Tasha's and Xanathar's and the builder loaded immediately that time. However, it doesn't have basic information in it. I created a Rogue (2024) and the first selection I have to make it Weapon Masteries, but when I click the dropdown there are no options available. I closed out and tried again, and that time it let me pick Weapon Masteries fine, but when I clicked Next to Species, none of the options show up it's just these grey boxes like it's still trying to search for them. Another time I managed to get to the Species part, but the choices (like Draconic Ancestry) just don't have any options. If I make a new character and just click to edit the sheet directly, all the options do load in (though the compendium is running incredibly slowly at times). I suppose I can just have people edit the sheets directly, but it would be nice if the class features and things would actually load in automatically. Am I just doing something incredibly wrong here? Running on Chrome, I don't have anything in the way of major extensions that should be messing something up (that I'm aware of at least).
I'm having the exact issue as Casey. I've tried using Chrome and Firefox, same problem. A friend of mine is also dealing with the same thing.
Chris1331 said: I'm having the exact issue as Casey. I've tried using Chrome and Firefox, same problem. A friend of mine is also dealing with the same thing. The builder has pretty much been failing all day.

Performance issue measurements we were able to try the performance issue, in opening the sheet, many of my players are complaining about, by putting two of the computers (a PC and a MAC) used side by side and trying the same action on both. opening the monk sheet opens on click and dice appears page becomes black PC 3.1 sec MAC 1.3 sec sheet appears PC 19.6 sec MAC 4.8 sec opening the wizard sheet opens on click and dice appears page becomes black PC 2.7 sec MAC 2 sec sheet appears PC 26.6 sec MAC 4 sec moving on the spell tab on the wizard. sheet changes PC 11.1 sec MAC 1.6 sec Wifi connection is the same, so it is probably just computer strength. .computer specs are as follow a mac mini M1 with 8GB memory (firefox) a HP pc with 13th Gen Intel (R) Core(TM) i5-1334U 16GB ram 128Mb GPU (Chrome) performance feels ok on the MAC but not responsive enough on the PC. specwise seems good enough to allow playing roll 20 but half a minute to open a sheet destroys the playing flow Andrea p.s. i can provide the video taken as needed
